I liked WW the most.
I want monica bellucci to sit on my face
I bought the trilogy ages ago, but only ever played the first one, which I loved.
Worth going back to?
SoT: 10/10
WW: 9/10
TTT: 9/10
PoP '08: 7/10
TFS: 6-7/10 (i havent replayed it since i beat it back in the day, so i dont remember well)
Warrior Within was bad, you needed to be 13 years old to like the laughable edgy tone and Godsmack raping your eardrums in the background. The hot women were nice but it is irrelevant to the game itself.
08 is shit, samey combat with streamlined acrobatics, with the shittest prince
tfs is alright though
Im sorry Prince but your last game only sold 2 million copies and your copycat assassin made 8 million
I want to play the PoP games, how do I go about doing so anons?
>PC master fag here
Best Prince of Persia Game coming though
Still waiting for PoP revival but guess it's not happening until AC is dead
Any other vidya examples that follow the quality pattern of the PoP franchise resurrection?
As in, the first game is a class act, pretty much a masterpiece, and then everything that followed in the franchise was some dogshit abomination.
I replayed sands of times last year. Of course graphics are dated but game still holds up well
I thought it was alright, the graphics were beautiful and moving around was fun
I agree on the prince and the game got really fucking boring with the collecting seeds and backtracking
Also the level design suffered because all areas had to be traversed back and forth
Combat was alright to me, funnily enough the combat i like best out of the series is SoT because of the rithm, but i was never particularly strong, so the new combat didnt bother me
tsf just felt so uninspired, i remember litrerally nothing from it except for the michael jackson faced prince
Also remember being angry that the "freeze time" power actually was just freezing the water, and nothing else.
Fucking cop out
>tfw cursed to live in timeline where souless AC is gonna get released ad infinium
AC1 was the only AC game with any soul because of the PoP elements, namely the music and setting, i still like it a bit to this day despite the mind numbing repetition
you realy want MODERN ubisoft to touch prince of persia?
a generic open world game with towers, forced online and bad combat?
This is actually quite accurate.

Dead Rising
Time only knows
dead rising 2 was alright
Unironically Assassin's Creed
I thought the combat was the best. Dismemberments and weapon switching was fun as fuck.
Warrior Within was the best one.
Lol I thought I was the only one who played this, not sure I ever beat it though cuz it was fucking hard
It would have been fine as a spin off instead of a reboot, which is what it ended up being after TFS released. Sadly TFS is shit and the 08 seems like a much more interesting concept in the long run.
We need that early 00s gothic fantasy style back.
2008 is still the most beautiful big budget western game ever made.
Always a Warrior Within fag refusing to admit the game wasn't good.
Easily this, when shit really gets real in SoT: youtube.com
Honourable mention: youtube.com
bet none of you played the DS Strategy game
tried too
they realy shat the bed with those graphics man, even caesar 3 had better graphics than that
>AC1 was the only AC game with any soul
Pleb opinion, AC2 had the most soul by far, 4 had it too
>I thought the combat was the best.
It was improved from Sands of Time, but everything else is worse, the locations are bland and lifeless and the parkour isn't as exciting.
I never owned a DS, so of course I didn't.
Yeah, they're good games. Flawed, but still good.
>It was improved from Sands of Time
And it was made worse again in two thrones. I just had so much fun slicing niggas in that game.
Gen six games were amazing but then it fizzled out afterwards. They could try bringing it back by incorporating some of AC ideas into it. Make it open world and with that rewind mechanic. Let's be real, no way they will make games with solid platforming in 2019+.
Did anyone else always find it weird that when you beat him, he launches into a lengthy speech about how he's going to kill Farah and make it look the the Prince did it and everything builds up as though his battle will have a second phase.
Then the cutscene ends and he just stands there with no music or anything and you hit him once and it goes back to another cutscene?
I always assumed my game was fucked or something, it's really weird
>POP thread right as Istart replaying the series
nice. SoT is a god damn masterpiece.
I wish more people talked about the classic PoP games (Excluding 3D). The SNES version is pure kino
youtube.com
>Best gameplay of all the ports/remakes
>Best soundtrack
>Increases the number of levels and time limit to accommodate changes
How are the PC ports of the trilogy?
should i pirate the GOG versions?
Always a fag refusing to realize others liked a game you simply didn't like
Other people have opinions and non-shit taste like you
This song makes me laugh desu. Its so cheesy but its the most memorable of all the games for me.
The chase music with the Dahaka was still the hypest and the pant-shitting stuff ever
youtube.com
That version was my first ever PoP game too. Comfy times playing that with my cousin.
Based. WW is the best of the trilogy.
Last battle is truly hard, battle field is 70-30 advantange for the opponent
So can anyone redpill me on arabian nights?
I never played PoP3D
A year ago or so i saw arabian nights on GDQ and people told me it WASNT PoP3D for PC, it was a different game
So what the fuck is the deal?
which is which? why are they so similar?
PoP3D is for the pc
PoP3D arabian nights is the dreamcast port
Arabian nights is.....???
i acknowledge the facts that the combat in comparison to the other was a massive downgrade and the open world was massive and it felt kinda empty
On the other hand, the visuals and artwork are simply beautiful and full of color, the world design is great, and the relationship between Elika and The Prince has damn good chemistry (barring repeat lines while running/climbing). It made me see now why I regretted trading it this entire time. You don't typically see this kind of, I dunno, "colorful liveliness" in a lot of AAA action/adventure fantasy games by Ubisoft anymore.
Not to mention the God Elder Tier music
youtube.com
Sands of Time was the best one.
So, how many of you think that ubisoft might start developing a new (and most importantly, good) POP game with the same wondrous arabian theme and atmosphere sometime in our lifetimes?
I think that the owner of the Prince was trying to revive it
as long as Assassins Creed is successful, never ever
> you'll never have a HD remaster trilogy pack for the PS4
don't you mean Persian theme?
It's pretty much guaranteed I'd say.
It was popular back in the day and everyone loves to milk an IP these days.
Shame it will be full of microtransactions and there will be a new one every year for at least 10 years after it
this and god of war made the ps2 to me
>2019, this is the only thing people remember about warrior within..
>posting obvious one
If they do expect an AC clone just set in Persia.
Also that it had the best combat and the Dahaka chase
warrior within wasnt even that good
and forgotten sands was much better than the 2008 one even if shit still
it is a shitter who liked the 2008 prince of persia, he is the reason the series died
That's pretty much my only fear for it, that it gets injected with cancerous modern game design schemes perpetrated by Ass creed such as open world, skill trees, progression systems, quest markers, microtransactions, the whole shindig
>new pop game
100%
>good
user...
Too bad we'll never get characters like that in western games again, unless it's a porn game
Truth. Best PoP followed by sands and then warrior. The rest were painfully mediocre.
Warrior Within was great. Awesome level design. Shame they didn't give it the extra year in the oven it needed.
The most tragic thing is that a PoP game could be the simplest thing to make. Uncharted 1-3 (never played the rest) did it fine :
> linear and decent stories
> last 10 to 15h
> cool and diverse set pieces where you fight enemies and parkour around
> combat is simple, works well and let you do cool stuff
I'm not asking for anything else than this.
As someone who genuinely loved the first two Assassin Creed games, I find it bizarre that it was the type of series to become a soulless cash cow. I would have never have guessed that it would be the type of format to spawn endless sequels and fall into money grubbing micro-transaction schemes.
fixed
>no one posted the best one
It was pretty much the same in T2T
The soundtrack was ruined by Godsmack desu
Just play them. I think SoT has some setting that creates a very dense fog or something like that but once you turn that off, everything looks fine
Didn't one of these games delete your harddrive if pirated?
No, user. Everything has to be BIG and have hundreds of millions of dollars of budget, it must adhere to every single modern gaming convention, and it must please the stockholders, as well as be marketable to ALL age demographics
Who actually owns the IP? Mechner or Ubisoft? If the former, why didn't he try to collaborate with other studios
I found console versions are boring as fuck, yet when I played the PSP ports on my vita I liked them and beat all 3.
Same with Gun.
What's going on with that?
What's the least-shitty way to play the original Prince of Persia these days? It used to be the 360's high-def XBLA version, but of course that's never been ported anywhere.
Also I liked the Forgotten Sands game very much. Didn't much care for the 2009 cel-shaded reboot though. Sands of Time still stands really really well by itself, as a complete story
From what I know, Mechner.
>Post your favorite track
Can I pick one combat and one ambient from each installment (I won't count in the credit songs)?
If so, than my picks are as follows:
Ambient themes:
>SOT: youtube.com
>WW: youtube.com
>TTT: What you picked or youtube.com
Combat themes:
>SOT: youtube.com
>WW: youtube.com
>TTT: youtube.com
>The Tower of Dawn
My nibba! However, Rooftoop Engagement wasn't included in WW AFAIK.
>Awesome level design
Are you shitting me? It is a stepdown from Sands of Time in every conceivable way. Warrior Within did only one thing right: the combat.
>bought the soundtrack CD for Sands of Time and Warrior Within
>Time only Knows cuts off after a few minutes
the fuck
sniff i remember this from school days
tfw never killed the great vizir and deleted my save ages ago :(
honestly it could work if they just give the job to make a new game to their smaller division, hell they got dozens of subsidiaries that could work on it without making it too big or ambitious, keep it simple and straightforward and concentrate on the atmosphere and fun, responsive combat and parkour.
It's never going to happen since every single game has to be open world crap now.
Just emulate it dude. Nobody is losing anything here but you for not playing the games.
I remember SoT running really good on pc but I couldn't get any controllers to work because I might be retarded and couldn't figure it out, so I emulated it on PCSX2 and it runs good enough. Haven't tried the sequels but I reckon they run smoothly enough for being old games. You might need an xbox controller, keyboard control on that kind of game is ass. There's also an HD collection for ps3 you can surely get for cheap
Friendly reminder that 2008 was alright.
>the only thing
Was literally thinking about this game the other day
Was thinking about how, despite how horrible this game was, it was still better than the 2008 version where you double-jump half the game.
Also rest in peace. Rather it be dead than to have Ubisoft fail horribly trying to replicate wall running, like they did in that reboot game.
Played the entire series about a month ago.
Sands of Time definitely has the best atmosphere and arguably story depending on what you're looking for, but the combat is extremely jank and lets it down a lot.
Warrior Within most definitely has the best gameplay but whether you like the story or atmosphere will depend on how much you enjoy/tolerate some of the edgier stuff
The Two Thrones tries to hit the best of both previous games in combat, atmosphere and story but manages to not do any particular one better, leading to a game that's just alright that you'll probably shelve to play one of the previous two depending on what you're looking for.
Also I want to fuck Farah
psst: I'm referring to the *original* Prince of Persia, not the Sands trilogy.
I know it was an edgy mess but god damn do I still love the game. I think the entire tonal shift was hilarious. I still remember dying laughing when the Prince yells "you bitch!" in the beginning of the game.
>WW better combat than TT
in what world is this true?
I wish the platforming was more involved. It feels too floaty and weird to me. Collecting orbs to progress was pretty damn boring too.
Man, I just want more of the Sands of Time atmosphere. That weird, smoky, hazy, almost dreamlike 'feel'.
I can't even put my finger on what made it so perfect: the Prince is athletic so combat FEELS great, he's a cocky arrogant fucker who grows as a person through the game so it FEELS great to progress, and the landscapes are all lush gardens and beautiful marble and tile so it FEELS beautiful, and you're alone for most of the game so you hear his inner voice, and it's all framed by the storyteller concept 'no no no that's not what happened, let me try again' FUCCKKK
The real world, not whatever fucking bizarre land you came from where TTT's combat isn't a halfassed rehash of WW's but with everything done worse
>those hidden areas with the health upgrades
easily my favorite parts of the trilogy PoP games, atmosphere wise
>It feels too floaty and weird to me.
It was so bad. There's no consequence to falling as you're magicked back to a safe spot, so there's no 'feel' to the parkour. There's no difference between being on the ground and being 100000 feet in the air leaping between platforms. (that are all coded with that 'jump here' and 'wallrun here' motif so you know how to solve the puzzle)
I think that TT removed some combos and combat options from WW.
Watched that the other day, it looks and sounds like a professional documentary, really well made unlike your usual pretentious video essayist
That's a tall order because there are a fuckton of versions. Honestly just look on google, old games like that are as easy to find as an online version of the original SMB
God bless this girl who cosplayed as Shahdee.
Not that user but more attention was given to side weapons, both their design and their overall number. Also, obtaining a new main sword (e.g. Scorpion sword, Water sword) was more memorable than just finding a shining sword in the tomb of Prince's father. Also, I believe WW featured more weapon combos but TTT had steath kills, so they balance each other out.
And they left it a mystery as to how they worked, which was absolutely perfect, instead of pulling a 'and then the Prince levelled-up through gaining EXP' or whatever out of their ass. Dude found a magic fountain, except he maybe ... didn't? ... all part of the mystery of the story he's telling.
Farah's all 'what happened to you?' and the Prince is all 'man I do not know what just happened' and that's PERFECT
>and it's all framed by the storyteller concept 'no no no that's not what happened, let me try again' FUCCKKK
Shit I forgot about that! This was such a nice touch and it made the game like a real story being told.
I need to dust off my gamecube and play these again someday.
I was thinking that game would have been better of linear, instead of allowing you to do the bosses in the order that you wanted
>No more half-ass sections, traveling to each location
>No more backtracking
>No more orb collecting
>Story and character progression would be less janky and comprehensive
that fucking ass
They explained the fountains in that terrible game that came out after the reboot
Shame that the Vyzar ends up killing her.
Here's a few more webms, just for you.
Yeah, Gvmers is a channel that pleasantly surprised me by the quality of their content.
My ideal version of the future PoP games is them being liniar/metroidvania-like 15-20h third-person action adventures without shoehorned RPG mechanics and developed by some experienced Japanese studio
The SNES version blows all the rest of the water. That soundtrack is so fucking good.

I really wish the Dark Prince turned out to be better than it was.
The stinger at the end of Warrior Within had me wild as a lad
His boss fight was disappointing as fuck.
> you just run around and attack him once for a bunch of time
I expected a real fight god damnit.
By the way, here's the sauce:
>youtube.com
>I really wish the Dark Prince turned out to be better than it was
I really wish that the entire game turned out to be better than it was.
tag urself, i'm the random garbage on the floor
forgotten sands was far more of a POP game than 2008 prince of persia
I replayed the trilogy(and the other entries too) so much that im sort of tired of playing it, but still want to play these kind of games.
Is there anything nowadays that is as similar as possible to PoP, that is not AC?
I really want to play more of these kind of games, but atm i can't stomach to replay any PoP game.
Mechanically? The Tomb Raider reboots. Mirror's Edge the First.
08 is underrated, i need that prince and barefoot princess back Ubisoft
Uncharted for the format.
maybe uncharted?
The MC is a wise guy cracking jokes, some of the setpieces are good and the games even have a slight supernatural twist at the end
2 is best
>Tomb Raider reboots
I've played them, and they're not similar to PoP at all?
>Mirror's Edge
Played as well, and it's even less similar than Tomb Raider reboots, it's a parkour game, but beside the "climbing" similarities, they're completely different.
Never plated it, isn't it more similar to the original Tomb Raider series?
In any case, I meant some game for pc as i dont have any playstation, and afaik, only the first Uncharted is emulated decently, while the rest is unplayable with tons of graphical glitches.
unironically Uncharted 2. Simple platforming and fun gunplay, setpieces are few and far inbetween, lots of atmosphere and varied locations.
THROW
YOUR
LEVER
Easily my favorite series of all time. I'm a SoT fag but im pretty sure pic related influenced my taste in everything
The whole series did really, but sandwraith is still the coolest fucking thing ive ever seen
Forgot pic
Holy shit i forgot it was a creepy fucking mask you put on
I didn't even know Forgotten sands was a thing after like a year it released. Still haven't played it.
Same here. His outfit looked like shit compared to the others. The whole game looked soulless and i hate that word
it's not a bad game, it just feels like the tipping point from a 3D adventurer into a modern ubisoft game, where you progress to a specific point to unlock an ability to progress to another specific point and unlock another ability, etc
otherwise it's beautiful, the platforming's solid, it just doesn't have the same SOUL as the Sands games before it
I, too, was a 13 year old edgelord when I played it.
So every game after SOT is shit right?
I think the dark prince in general was pretty shit, it probably could've worked if the edgy tone was there and the prince wasn't reverted to a twink
his design is great though, in fact thats the one thing the series always excelled at
I've always thought the series should've shifted to a less linear design in the third game and it would've made the dark prince losing health over time mechanic interesting. like a game of survival where you have to rush and find a pool of water
ah be fair, it was 2005 and you could still play the Dark and Edgy Character (heavy metal music) completely straight
IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
STAND ALONE
They really don't make western games like these anymore. Combat may have been pretty boring but the platforming and areas were really good and the progression felt great. Going from a normal sword to one that breaks wall and then one which fucking murders everything. I miss that kind of progression in games.
Nah, warrior within is fantastic. Just not the same feel as sands of time
I really didnt like two thrones tho, even as a kid. They should have kept him edgy. Not because edgy prince was better, but because thats the direction they took
For real tho warrior within has an insanely good atmosphere. Its great
And yea I'm gonna shill my favorite series
>Loved Two Thrones on GC
>See a game called Rival Swords for Wii
>Get hyped and buy it thinking it's a sequel
>It's the same fucking game
Still mad
INSIDE IIIIIIII

This series is in desperate need of a remaster.
I remember back in 2006 keeping up with Assassin's creed development thinking we were getting an open world successor to the PoP series. Then we got hold forward and press X to win.
My nostalgia is at full right now holy shit
I'll never feel again, what i felt when i first saw that trailer
Mhm. His outfit slowly breaking in SoT. The world progression in WW
Nothing Will come close to the beauty these games have
>tfw didn't even finish WW
Was too hard for me for some reason
I love both Uncharted and PoP, but I don't think they are that similar.
Uncharted is first and foremost a 3rd Person Shooter, the Platforming is not as Athletic/"Cool" and even easier than PoP and while the Setpieces are great, they feel completely different
Its been too long, but i think i cheesed a lot of the tough fights. Dont really remember tho
Finish it tho cause theres not another game like it. And you'll see the influence its had over the genre to this day
PoP 2011 was such a beautiful game
personally I'm a fan of the Sega CD version
youtu.be
>tfw become fucking shirtless, with some scars, wiser and more grown as a character at 3/4ths through the game
I loved that, wish more games did it, the wear and tear stuff
good shit
Remember how they released 4 completely different games all called "the Forgotten Sands" at the same time?
It's very different combat wise but the platforming is some of the best in the series imo.
I Cheat Engine'd Warrior Within for infinite sand-power. Doing that thing where you go RAAAAARGH and slap everything at lightspeed with your sword got me through so much bullshit
Fuck you, I liked it
That's what the final dark prince section was all about. It was a giant sequence where you're rushing to undo it and it just keeps going.
The fact that he's taunting you all the time is great.
>Kneejerk reactions to WW being edgy
I wish it was a standalone game, just remove the PoP name. The game had flaws but fuck was it a pretty good game. I just want more games with dark fantasy, goth grills and rock/metal soundtrack.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
sure I like this flick too
It was fine as a pop game. Made sense for the character to go into deep rage/depression. He fucked with time and a cosmic demon is chasing him. Hes paranoid, dark and wants blood
It was just to drastic of a shift
If the series went SoT, TT, WW i woulda made sense for his character.
To this day tho no game has the atmosphere that WW has
Besides the love stuff and great story telling of SoT, WW is the superior game
Im gonna have to watch it again. Jake gyll is good shit
almost accurate, pop 2008 is shit
sot is wonderfuly charming game, ww had best combat but everything else was lacking, t2t was more akin to sot just not as great
tsf tried to move the series back in the right direction but ultimately failed
ubisoft will never do another PoP
youtube.com
its long but interesting
Another user posted it already
western women can't cosplay 'skinny' characters anymore
WW was not lacking in everything else
SoT was an understandable, delightful story with love and tragedy. Will always be my favorite
WW took it in a different direction and made some people angry, understandably so.
WW was still great beyond belief tho. The world, the interconnection of stages in said world, the combat, the Gore and most of all, the soul.
The scene where the prince puts on the mask is a fucking horror movie. The player feels alone yet the few characters you interact with give you a sense of aggression and determination.
Its a game that didnt assume you were going to keep playing.
It made you
I watched it yesterday. It felt very objective, but i feel it understated the influence the series had on gaming.
Any 3rd person action game has taken a bit from PoP
Now post the fotos pre photoshop
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind it being a PoP game. I just want the "edgy era" of the late 90s and early 00s when it was cool to make darker games. I'd trade the emo/goth culture for the current generation any day of the week.
>To this day tho no game has the atmosphere that WW has
My favorite 3D game of all time. I don't get whey people call it edgy, I didn't get the impression that it was trying to shoehorn dark themes, the atmosphere and music of the game were fucking amazing and everything felt really organic rather than forced. Even the enemies were pretty well designed. Not to mention that it wasn't dark and gloomy all the time, there were really great lush gardens and amazing nature scenery, but they were made to look spooky as well. I understand people liking the arabian nights vibe from the franchise, but WW was something special.
Just look at this slick motherfucker, no over-designed pizza cutter swords and a million belts. I remember fighting him the first time when the crows started forming on the stone bridge. Shit was so cash and he was just a minor enemy.
Everyone complain WW metal music, but OST actually had mostly great ambient tracks.

I llove the first games setting the most with the arabian nights theme
WW was the fucking tits gameplay wise though.
Back when watching the ubisoft intro video actually brought good feels
youtube.com
>I defended this company at some point
There was a time when the #1 marketing plan was to promote the game's gameplay variety and complexity. Sure, you could win the game by just using the same combo throughout the whole game, but you could do a ton more if you wanted. Most of the trailers were gameplay videos instead of pre-rendered cutscenes. What the fuck happened?
It's sad. What's even sadder is the fact that names like EA, Blizzard, Bethesda, Bioware etc., were once considered to be companies with unprecedented talent and ambitions to create amazing games.
youtube.com
youtube.com
WW was the pinnacle gameplay-wise, but I much rather prefer the arabian nights style and atmosphere of SoT and 08.
>WWfags are the ones praising WW
Holy fuck he's cracked the code.
You're so right. It wasnt pure edge by any means. It had varying feels all throughout.
The "edgy" of that era was a style. A good one at that. WW captured a different take on a castlevania type feel, and it worked. Its one thing call something like darksiders edgy. Apocolyptic personification of WAR is fucking up demons cause he was wronged. Thats an edgy premise
WW didnt have that. Because of the what the prince was going through, it had to dark. And they absolutely got it right. Without, like you said, feeling forced
Mmmmmmm the enemies were so good
Marc Ecko's Getting Up
These people need to piss off. Fucking hell mate, giving the unwashed masses access to the internet was a mistake. I pray every day that there will be a new fad and that all the normalfags will fuck off to it, so that video games become a "basement dweller" hobby again.
>there was a time when people would call you and idiot for putting your personal info on the internet
>there was a time when you were called a loser for playing video games
Holy fuck those are good

Where's 3D?

in the tomb raider version that image
What did he mean by this?
PoP or AssCred
>her and the empress are the same exact boss fight
kinda disappointing
PoP 08 is unironically kino. Elika is a 10/10 QT
>arab qt
>noburka
all those seething fembots
Truly pleb opinion. AC2 was good but essentially a generic revenge story. You fistfight the pope at the end. It also introduced everything that turned AC into shit later on
Same could be said for Dead Space and Bioshock. Even though the sequels had improved on some aspects like the gameplay, the feel of the game isn't the same.
not that user, but I prefer Dead Space, Bioshock and AC1 over their sequels
Sands of Time - Dead Rising 1
>Great title, some flaws here and there but effectively lays out the groundwork for the franchise
Warrior Within - Dead Rising 2
>Sequel that improves many things from the first game, but loses the charm/tone in the process
Two Thrones - Dead Rising 3
>Has semblance of what made the prior games great but feels considerably inferior
PoP 08 - Dead Rising 4
>A sequel that has little to nothing to do with the prior games and feels like a shameless cash grab with little redeeming quality
You're on to something I hated '08 but it was nowhere near as terrible as DR4
>A sequel that has little to nothing to do with the prior games
Just like Sands of Time?
>Shahdee and Kaileena fighting each other while grunting and moaning
WW devs were men of culture
It's a shame she died so early in the game.
