Wave 3 Star Allies is an incredibly fun game. The variety in movesets available to you, the legitimate challenge (not extreme but it's there) of HiAD and Soul Melter EX, best-looking Kirby game graphically, incredible music as always, subverts the "bad end" that villains have been getting for the past few games in HiAD's true ending.

Yoshi games have this problem with being in the shadow of the original forever, good or bad. Wooly World and Crafted World seem like really solid games and definitely took on really cool visual styles, but nothing about them really entices me to want to play them.

I thought Returns to Dream Land was fun in multiplayer, bland in single player, but overall I was happy it brought Kirby back to home consoles
Triple Deluxe was much more fun and I liked the powers it introduced
Robobot was even more fun, loved playing as Meta Knight for post-game rather than Dedede

But fuck Star Allies. It really felt like the biggest step backwards for a series that was progressively getting better and better for me.

star allies has a goat soundtrack and a huge ability/character list, but the actual game levels aren't very detailed or interesting because muh co op. it also forces co op a lot just for the sake of it, the friend segments are terrible and disruptive to the pace

I'd personally say it's just a beat-em-up with platforming elements which is fine in its own right. I don't think Kirby's ever been exceptional in its platforming elements as opposed to let's say Donkey Kong.

Personally I thought the robot sections were really shallow and ultimately another variation of the super autoplay sections. I wouldn't really call the game innovative but it was great because it basically took Triple Deluxe and perfected it. I hated the blatant nostalgia pandering though. LOOK IT'S NOVA. And they did a nostalgia boss gauntlet for fuck's sake. nu-HAL is probably sweating now because they used literally everything at this point. They even milked their own games.

There's absolutely no puzzles in that game. The game just tells you how to do everything or flat out does it for you. And even has a nice convenient ability capsule you need. There's barely any points you actually need a functioning brain in.

The game runs at 60 frames per second. Unlike a certain game that only manages to do that in the fucking menus. Crafted World and Wooly World actually play noticeably different. Unlike every Kirby game since Superstar Ultra.

So far crafted world is way better. Star allies was so halfassed while yoshi is just a really child friendly play experience. Both are too easy.

DL3 looks more like animated scribbles than YI does but I think YI does the coloring book/child-doodle aesthetic better in general because of the higher focus on cartoony effects and simple animations desu, DL3 is bland to look at in comparison while YI has a lot more going on at any given moment. It's not helped that the Dream Land trilogy is just substantially slower than most other Kirby games

Honestly I hope we don't get another mainline game announced until at least E3 2020. Star Allies was yet another rushed out game fluff up the Switch's library with subpar entries in every Nintendo series (which seems to continue happening considering they had to fucking trash MP4) and it shows. HAL had 3 games to experiment with the Kumazaki structure and yet Star Allies was weaker than all 3 of the games that came before it, and some DLC updates can't fix the shit tier campaign, even if they give the game some extra longevity. HAL either needs to try something fresh or go all out with the Kumazaki formula next game because Star Allies didn't feel like an anniversary game, it just felt like a "fuck you, here's another Kirby, I guess" from Nintendo. It doesn't help that it came right after fucking Robobot either.

Star Allies was terrible even by Kirby standards. Everything about it just felt rushed and underdeveloped. Crafted World certainly isn't perfect, but at least it feels like they gave a fuck about the game.

Is Yoshi the biggest punching bag series from Nintendo, that even Nintendo fans shit on? I get that a lot of the entries are mixed, but now people seem to not even get it credit for when it does get an outright solid games (Island, Woolly World, and now finally Crafted World). And two of those three games are the same developer who made a Wario Land game and a Kirby game that people do generally give the time of day when brought up, but not Yoshi, despite their titles being the best ones since Island. I'm not super surprised, a lot of Kirby threads are full of trash memes and occasional degenerates that want to fuck spheres. I just like the games. I think Kumazaki's direction is more good than bad despite the lack of innovation, and Star Allies is more fun to just go around and do your movement/attacks in than any other Kirby title. It's not the best game in the series but I hope going forward all Kirby games plays as well as it does.

Star Allies was a disappointment. It had some of the lamest level designs in any Kirby game, the OST was mediocre by most game standards (meaning it was shit by Kirby standards), and the CPU friends always ate fucking glue.
Its only real saving grace was the Dream Friends, all of whom were fun to use and watch.

Worst part is he's only doing this because people said they prefer KSA over YCW, I didn't think Yoshifags were this petty. They always seemed pretty chill to me. I bet he's the same guy who constantly samefags and posts kirby porn non stop in kirby threads.

God I wish these wannabe barneyfags would kill themselves.

Star Allies at launch was not worth $60. The main campaign is able to be beaten in 6-8 depending on how completionist you are, and then you had Guest Star which was a slightly harder run through all of the levels without any bullshit between them using any playable character that isn't Kirby but those took ~2 hours per run and were only worth it for the abilities you find the most fun, and the boss rush which is pretty much a pushover on every difficulty except Soul Melter.

Later updates brought more Dream Friends which each have unique final stretches to their Guest Star runs and are a lot of fun to play, Heroes in Another Dimension which is a ~3 hour campaign with more difficulty than the main game, and Soul Melter EX which is the hardest thing in any Kirby game. And all of that was patched in for free.

As it stands Star Allies can give you anywhere from 15 to 40 hours depending on how much you enjoy running Guest Star and Soul Melter/Soul Melter EX with different abilities/characters. The easier stuff is more enjoyable co-op but the late post-game is fine solo.

It wasn't as blatant throughout the entire game they didn't once mention NOVA until the very end. Also the game's entire motive is the robotization of Kirby's old enemy since the Haltmann Works Co. did a hostile takeover on the entire planet. If there is one boss that was thoroughly lazy on updating an old boss with new tricks, it was Holo Defense since it just recreates holographic enemies without anything new happening to them.
