I'm on Way of the Wise and i keep learning new things and improving my gameplay after 200+ hours. It's insane!

Honestly people bitch a lot about it having the same enemies but I think fighting the same couple enemy types over and over leads to trying to perfect the ultimate play style so you never get hit. It makes you focus on the optimal way to defeat enemies instead of taking it in a case by case way like Dark souls
Got bored like 10hr in when the enemies started repeating.
I never really understood the issue with enemies. There are a fair number and the DLC include more. On Way of the Demon (NG+2) trash enemies gain buffs and new abilities and skills making the replayability constant on future playthroughs. Enemy positions and DLC mind start appearing in the regular game as well adding more to the variation and fun.
The level of customisation and stat building is also pretty sweet, even if it might feel redundant and minimilstic when it comes to the abyss
It's not, it actually gets repetitive. Also it's just too flawed, there isn't a single aspect of the game that isn't flawed in a way.
I seriously hope they improved in the sequel but also what is the sequel even gonna be about now that they blew their load and had you fight the cast of Samurai Warriors?

Game is build around replayability, story is just there for a checkmark. Typical japanese title.
I had my fun with this game for 450 hours until I got bored and I didn't even try all the weapons.
I might start playing again since Sekiro is only fun for first playthrough.
Crazy good for you user! I got 400+ hours out of every Souls game (better levels, enemies, music, world, atmosphere, etc) and I'm approaching 200 hours in Sekiro! I wish I could've got into Nioh, but it seemed to be boring lol
I keep meaning to get back to Nioh and then I remember I have to grind out health potions and that I've been wearing the same optimal armor for most of the game. The weapons are so rad, though. I heard tonfas were decent now.

I'm more hyped for Nioh 2 than I am for Sekiro since Nioh is getting a character creator. Sekiro looks cool mechanically but I put time into Miyazaki's games because they're RPGs and he keeps stripping away all the RPG elements and variation in favour of slightly better combat mechanics.
Armor and builds become relevant only after NG+ when shits gets tough.
Don't remember having trouble with health potions tho, I think you can buy them with amrita

The only thing it ripped off was to some degree the deflect, but even then it's completely different in Nioh when you parry and could be more related to what Bloodborne did with its visceral attacks, only deflecting in Sekiro isn't an instant win. Everything else feels very different in both Nioh and Sekiro

Look how much better the game looks when you're doing the same things but without neon lights and particle effects flashing everywhere and you have neutral lighting. It just looks so much better.
Even then i think the animation linking is a bit too fast if am to nitpick. This is something i already noticed in Team Ninja when they went from Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 to Razor's Edge.
"Perfect block" has been around for fucking ages. Onimusha is the oldest i can trace the mechanic back to in action games. Onimusha, Devil May Cry, Ninja Gaiden, Metal Gear Rising, Dragon's Dogma just off the top of my head all made use of this mechanic before Nioh or Sekiro were even around.
I agree Nioh and Sekiro are dissimilar enough that you wouldn't like one just because you like the other, but you must be stupid to say they have nothing in common.
pretty much the only thing they have in common is the setting and being 3rd person action games
I understand the problem, but thankfully the first video you linked is the 'Abyss', and is only accessible in its full after NG+4. The setting and location in that first video is only touched by people that are so in love with the game and its mechanics that the lighting and effects aren't an issue, and the base game and its DLCs don't suffer from what you see in that said video.
When it comes to the numbers and UI on screen (ugly i agree) that can be turned off/on at your own pleasure. It's also convenient but probably random that the animation in the second video is the fasted weapon in the game, called the Tonfa. It's animations are fast and it can be hard to see so yeah i can imagine that being off-putting to some. The combat in Nioh is quite reminiscint of Ninja Gaiden in how it plays out but again the videos you've linked are end-game players who are autistically good at making the game look flashy and insane. Thankfully, it isn't that way for most players.
The commonality between those games is the setting / basic rpg elements and boring pro-tags for the most part. This guy states that the blocking mechanics come from games i've not played (except MGR and DD) so if that's a similarity you'd want to use then that could be used for most action games.

The second video only looks good because it's wooden weapons and no effects. Every time you kill an enemy a fountain of skittles comes out to bury the gore underneath it. It's bad, reminds me of Bayonetta, another game with severe clarity issues but this one might even be worse. I don't see the point in trying to downplay this, it's something they should take a serious look at in the sequel. Clarity is very important in an action game, more doesn't mean better.

I completely disagree based upon my experience and time in the game as i never had any problem with lighting, contrasting environments or effects ruining the immersion and experience i went through. You're complaint with this isn't a common issue i see brought up by people who've played the game and while it clearly bothers you i think it's safe to say your personal preference with the clarity of the game is just that. It's a shame that's the case, but not every game is suited for everyone.

Most fun fighting system in an action rpg i've played. I just love switching between stances on the fly, you get into such a good flow sometimes from that.
It made me get back into video games again. It was so fun to just dick around, try out stuff and see what worked and didn't work. Also fuck that spider-woman boss. Not easy have phobias for both tight spaces and spiders.

I did, there is nary a single moment in Nioh that struck me as Ninja Gaiden. Fuck, Sekiro has more NG moments, from wall-jumping up a well in an oriental castle to hopping off enemies for a stun to a move with a similar utility as flying swallow. Nioh is a good game but stop spreading bullshit that it's anything like Ninja Gaiden.
There's actually a lot of enemy variety. I think the issue is that a lot of the game's systems encourage you to restrict your own variety. Far too many stat bonuses stacked onto doing specific moves in specific stances. It doesn't matter how varied you make enemies when the player can get away with treating every single one the same way, generally using the same move, because the RPG aspects absolutely bulldoze the action aspects.

When it comes to action games that's true. I've not touched DMC and didn't really enjoy Bayonetta when it came out. I play alot of vidya, probably to much but different genres. I admit Nioh is rather grimdark and doesn't offer alot of variation when it comes to lighting though. I suppose we'll simply have to agree to disagree that it's game breaking for some and a minor issue for others. As you said yourself, let's hope it's worked upon in the sequels.

I already stated i phrased what i wrote poorly in this post and didn't mean to compare them literally but rather compare my experience with them both from my time playing. The camera is the biggest issue, honestly. The lock-on is terrible and too stiff. It follows whatever you're targeting too doggedly. And the regular camera is too pulled in and inflexible.
After playing DMC5 just a day prior to playing Sekiro, it was like my head was put into a vice.

Yeah its especially egregious in a game where half of the minibosses are located in enclosed spaces and dodging/repositioning via dodging is no longer a viable means of avoiding damage
I loved the alpha, liked the beta, lost interest in the last chance trial and found myself extremely bored during the retail release.
Has there been any significant changes to this game? I stopped playing way before DLC ever made it into the game. Anything new or interesting that may revitalize my interest in the game? I sold it a long time ago, but I've been consider trying it again. Is it possible to start on a harder difficulty immediately or do I have to drudge along normal first. Also did they change end game, because before it was get NG+ (Way of the somthing, I don't remember difficulty levels), go to Demon Isles/Island and farm revenants, get full set. Face roll NG+.
