Here you go, a few thousand games.

Look at all that shovelware!
From 2 to 3, woohoo.

>implying
In my library I've got:
AltSpace, Beat Saber, Bigscreen, Elite Dangerous, Gal Gun VR, Earth VR, The Lab, Mocu Mocu Dance, Neo Retro Arcade, Emu VR, Rec Room, Skyrim VR, Superhot VR, Tokyo Chronos, VRChat, and VR Kanojo.
There's plenty out there user.
if Valve actually develop a AAA vr game i will eat my own dick.
Valve is developing 3 VR games, at least one of them will come with the Index.
b-b-b-but growing market! people are adopting beat saber like never before!
I dunno man
IDC=I Don't Care
about VR because it's a meme gimmick fad that is already over.
Unless they make an onahole accesory for VR, I don't fucking care
i will see how much the steam vr headset is and make my decision then
>niggers pretending to use VR
>black trans women will save vr
what a time to be alive
Would get a VR headset and controllers if it was cheap, easy to set up and light to wear.
From what I've seen they cost way too much, need to crazy setup of cables and towers and the headset itself is too heavy and hot to wear.
Imagine if they just made something that looked like skiing glasses.
It's funny fucking shit, man.
I hope Index does well, honestly. The retards trying to offload their Vives will probably mean I can pick one up for under 200 bucks, which is the absolute maximum price point I'd consider reasonable for a headset with actual controllers and tracking.
Then when I throw it in a drawer after a week, I won't feel so bad.
I don't care about weight, but wireless is a dealbreaker.
There is no excuse not to have wireless now that Wigig exists.
WMR sets don't require base stations, comfort seems to be hit-or-miss though.
Valve's set will require lighthouses but they only need a power cable, no need to connect them to the PC, it's only the Rift that had a bad room scale setup since each camera needed to connect to the PC but now they're going for the no-camera tracking meme with the next sets.
CRT to LCD took us, what, 70 years? Yeah, I'm not holding my fucking breath here, buddy.
I can't give a shit about VR until it's no more cumbersome than wearing a pair of glasses.
>IDC
more like
i dont care
So they'll sell 3 whole vr sets this year?
I work at a Best Buy, evey time someone comes in for VR its either some mongoloid autist or a parent with too much money and their adhd zoomer kid.
Shits cancer.
>to increase
well okay
Wow they sold 3
My rig can barely handle the Vive as-is, you think I'm going to spend another 2 grand on upgrades to run 5k for clearer fucking text?
I'm mildly interested in VR for the sake of weird fetish porn. Is this a bad time to buy one? Is the technology perfected yet?
It's probably the same thing as the kinect, a flop from an enduser perspective but a gift from heavens for professionals
game?
Wait and see how the index looks next month
Recommended specs for VR is mid-tier shit nowadays, the Index will have a GTX 1070 recommended and it can go much lower than that with resolution scaling.
If you think that the 200 burgers or whatever that WMR costs nowadays is "too expensive" then its better if you don't get into VR. We have enough retards as is.
Hey, I've got a GTX 1070! What does the index do taht the oculus rift/vivre doesn't?
The Index doesn't support W7, that alone makes it utterly worthless and puts it in the same range as the WMR headsets.
I think so far it's the best time to hop on.
Since the new "premium" valve headset attempting to come out and become the new industry standard, many people will be offloading their old headset to transition to that one.
There's also the Oculus moving to a more cost effective, sensor-less WMR model.
You'll see tons of listings of the Vive and the original Oculus at a dirt cheap price.
There's also a good amount of actual games out now instead of saying 2016, stand and do thing simulators.
Developers feel much more accustomed in VR games and are willing to experiment and use traditional twin stick controls in tandem with the new technology.
I love my headset, I think it was worth the money but we're getting to an upgrade period that will make previous headsets the cheapest it's ever been.
The main problem I see with this is that a lot of people are just going to be keeping their lighthouses and probably the controllers too, and swapping out the headset, which is worthless on its own and can already be bought for peanuts.
Yea Forums BTFO again
Are we ever right?
>keeping the controllers
kys
Not all Vive games will be compatible with Knuckles due to it having a tiny trackpad.
Other sets are around that too, check if you didn't set supersampling too high or if you are using an outdated OS.
You most likely can run it with W7 like with the other sets but you will miss out on a bunch of quality of life stuff like async timewarp which interpolates frames when FPS dips.
Whatever you heard about W10 is severely outdated anyway, it was a bit clunky years ago but it improved a lot and is silky smooth nowadays, it also has the same backwards compatibility engine W7 has so old stuff works the same.
everything that matters will be compatible literal retard
I don't think that'll be the case.
All Vive games work with the Oculus natively through Steam VR.
I also read somewhere that the drivers would make the Knuckles natively compatible with Steam VR games.
I don't disagree that people will probably keep their Vive sensors but I don't think they'll keep their controllers.
so you want an oculus quest out in may wireless vr
vr is a meme
Games that use the Knuckles features will most likely have fallbacks, devs don't want to fracture the market even more.
H3VR won't
Have they solved motion sickness yet?
I read that as the opposite of what you said, in which case you are retarded since the Knuckles are better than the wands in every way and work fine in any game.
Yes, adjust your IPD.
*blocks your path*
That meme died like 3 years ago, it was extremely overblown.
Some people do get motion sickness but it naturally goes away after getting used to VR, it's the same people that get sick in cars.
They're coming. Shit takes time to disseminate and wither. Index almost surely will have a Valve first-party wireless module.
First-gen adapters were pretty big disappointments in their HMD specificity (not just compatibility but their very specific target HMD video/data transmission). Next gen will be better, being probably just standardized USB or VirtualLink wireless adapters.
I might get one soon since NMS is getting VR support, I know the game is shit but it could be something. I also want to play ETS2.
And hentai games.
>people who sell the shit """"""""""""predict""""""""""""""" sale increase
haha O WOW
Digital IPD adjuster.
I get motion sick in normal games with weapon/view bobbing. I was wondering if the same problem would carry over to VR.
That doesn't do shit
Literal marketing meme by corporations cheapening out on the headsets, digital adjustment doesn't work and doesn't fix the problem of mismatched IPD.
palmerluckey.com
I still can't get over the levels of irony that link is on.
>no IPD adjustment crap by faceberg
>meanwhile Valve's set will come with eye trackers and a motor that automatically adjust the set's IPD
patentimages.storage.googleapis.com
So this year they're going to sell 154 headsets instead of 100?
the .1% means there must be at least 1000 sets.
So that's 946 headsets that Valve buy themselves and throw away
a little under four million instead of a little under two.
VR on the PS4 is really affordable now, I copped V2 of the PSVR from GameStop for $160 and replaying both RE7 and Skyrim and it’s a fucking blast.
Gonna go try VR exclusives next.
Question:
Do you NEED to use the roomscale? I live in a very small and cluttered space. Is there every times where you are forced to use the room space?
Download the VR Demo Collection 3 and give some of them a try.
Astro Bot and The Persistence in particular are great PSVR exclusives.
Depends on the game.
Steam has catagories for room-scale and standing/seated games.
No, well some games need it.
Imagine it as a type of play.
You can use standing play, sitting play, and then room scale play.
It depends on the game but it shows you on the steam store page.
no you can play standing and both walk and turn ingame
clean your room
i have a toaster
99% of games don't need roomscale.
The only time I had problem due to my limited space was playing Accounting+. It has no locomotion controls at all, so I couldn't reach some shit in the corner on playspace
I have an apple
>sales of VR headsets increases from 2 to 3
Big deal, much VR
My room is tidy, it's just fucking small and I have a bed and furniture and a dakimakura that take up space.
Thanks for the replies everyone else, I'm interested in VR but not so that I can prance around blindfolded. As long as you can use it sitting down, even if it isn't recommended by the devs, I'll be happy.
>virtualrealityshilling.com
>projections about the industry they shill being the best ever
VR niggers are so fucking delusional
>and I have a bed and furniture and a dakimakura that take up space.
all I see are optional things taking up space for no reason
only a handful of specific games built around that concept (shit you'd probably never hear of if you didn't go looking for it). but in general you're missing out. at least 3x3m open space is preferable for least having to think about your meatspace environment while playing. less than 2x2 is a pain as you'll constantly be activating chaperone.
Thread's either a falseflag or a shitpost to intentionally start shit about VR specifically using 'predictions/articles'. Go to the catalog and hide all the threads whose OP images aren't article pages and bring back the results.
>The retards trying to offload their Vives will probably mean I can pick one up for under 200 bucks
What kind of fucking fantasy land are you living in? Keep dreaming, retard. You'll never get a Vive for less than $200.
Can Yea Forums solve this puzzle for maximum play space?
>bed optional
I guess
>global console sales increases from 2 to 2.005
VR wins
You sound like a lazy bastard.
Any time I see black people in an ad, I get physically repulsed.
Anyone else kind of weirded out that there are people out there that confidently predict the future and how the population will behave?
Yea Forums ain't your personal redecorator
go ask some guy at ikea
I don't know what chaperone is, but if I'm playing something like Skyrim or No Man's Sky can I just have a regular controller in hand and the VR on my head and play like normal except with head tilty?
Or do I literally need to be waggling my arms around and gesticulating wildly to play?
I love VR!
>I don't know what chaperone is
It's a blue grid that shows up if you get too close to the set boundaries of the VR playspace.
Why are you trying to make this a thing? I don't get it.
Some games, like Skyrim, allow this, but once you actually use motion controllers you won't ever want to. Motion controllers are amazing and not at all like the wii wagglers.
T. guy who had no interest in motion controllers until I used them
yes
sometimes i dont even know if i inhabit the same universe as those people
I swear VRfags are people who just can't see themselves in a mirror in reality and replace it by look at their avatar in a vr mirror
Imagine VR with my computer.
You can play SkyrimVR with no motion controls but then you're losing 80% of the appeal, the whole point is being able to interact physically with a virtual world.
kek
Take it back!
Don't take this the wrong way but I've heard that before and I like my old man control pads that I'm used to.
The appeal to me is literally just moving my head around, certainly when I think of something like ETS2 that seems to be the major benefit.
Because I didn't get a good answer yet.
at least you can play beatsaber
Looks like you have enough play-space already, mong. Unless you actually want to move your entire bed and desk everytime you want to play the VR?
so from 1% to 1,541%?
game ?
What’s the closest thing to that one VR mission from the first battlefront Star Wars game? EA should have done an entire VR game like that.
This kind of thing makes me wonder if it'd actually be possible to get away with throwing away my bed and just sleeping on a futon every night.
But honestly, that'd only buy me another meter's worth of space. And I have no fucking idea where I'd put all the shit I have stored under my bed right now.
Just my own creation I made to shitpost with, not an actual game
Look up some VR videos. 95% of the users are ridiculously fat and ugly.
>american education: the post
Ace Combat 7
ummm excuse me sweetie but vr is full of cute girls
If we start at 1% and grow 50% every year then VR will be at over 100% adoption in 12 years.
trust me, you don't want what you think you do. VR is standing with motion controllers. that's the point, that's the experience. it's not what you're imagining. it might even be slightly disappointing, for not being exactly what you're imagining, but you'll understand when you actually try it. you are simply literally in the game. the game is a place you are visiting.
imagine having border padding that thicc
>>american education: the post
>american education: the post
I like border padding, autistmo
Is that a full VR game like Wipeout or a VR mode included in the game like Gran Turismo?
We told you the first time, get a futon bed you can stow, throw out all the furniture you can and move the rest to the far walls with the play area right in the middle of the room.
VR Mode.
the quest has physical IPD adjustment dumbass
I'm just not comfortable jerking off while standing though. I can only do it sitting.
And if I'm not fapping why am I wearing the headset?
get a Go if you just want VR for Porn.
I think it requires DirectX11, which is a nope.
Sony vs. Nintendo in a nutshell
patents mean nothing. oculus has actually shown demos of real headsets with not just motorized ipd, but motorized focus adjustment. yet they still havent put it in a product. writing down an idea on paper is even less effort
Not 3DPD porn though, I'm into that H-game stuff that needs a computer attached, unfortunately.
>sales increase 54 percent
so they sold two more than last year?
>wasting pixels when you only have 1600x900
gross
Don't read too much into it. Analysts are a thing, yes. But it's ultimately about reading tea leaves, and they're often wrong. What matters is being at least slightly more often right than wrong. Take reporting like this with a grain of salt, or more.
Where do I find this setting in Win10
literally the same dialog box that's been present since windows 95
>VR head sales set to increase because of new headsets
What they mean is that people who bought into the VR meme are going to buy a new headset, not that new people are actually going to buy them
more than that, analysis is the practice of digging for any data that supports your own opinion while trying to discredit anything that disagrees with you
I liked Gran Turismo, Wipeout, and ZoE in VR, I'd love a Virtual-on, Space Harrier, MGS, and GTA in VR.
Steam's hardware survey shows actual growth every month even though it only tracks plugged in sets rather than lifetime purchases.
>vr is too expensive
>yet somehow I think half the people who own it double down and buy another set
that must mean VR is so awesome that people would pay double for it
I can't find the dialog box
I was making a low poly GTA VR game for a while but I got lazy and didn't finish it.
There's huge potential with it though.
>Virtual On

>Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Wipeout Omega Collection, Moss, Resident Evil 7, Firewall Zero Hour, Farpoint, Tetris Effect, The Persistence, RIGS, Borderlands 2, Skyrim, Deracine, Beat Saber, Superhot, Monster of the Deep, Job Simulator, Zone of the Enders The 2nd Runner MARS, Rez Infinite
>upcoming games: Blood & Truth, Dreams, Ghost Giant, Iron Man, Everybody's Golf, Jupiter & Mars. No Man's Sky, Trover Saves the Universe, Starchild, Vacation Simulator
what's your excuse for not getting into PSVR Yea Forums?
Most of those aren't PSVR-exclusive and their PC versions are obviously superior.
I'm extremely pissed we don't have Borderlands VR on PC
Literally why the fuck would they devote the resources into it only to limit themselves from the majority of the market? I know Sony would give them benefits but still, fuck.
Sony gave them money.
Sony most likely paid exclusivity bucks.
>I can't play any of these games because I don't have the hardware
>therefore they are all shit
Hopefully it ain't like RE7 where Sony pays for continued exclusity
Wait for the refunds
>still on Windows XP
Can anyone tell me what system used these kinds of cartridges?
>limit themselves from the majority of the market?
PSVR is the majority of the market,
the only non-exclusives in that list are Moss, Persistence, Skyrim, Beat Saber, Superhot, and Job/Vacation Simulator
Why would they increase when Re7 is the only VR game worth playing rn
What the fuck is a dragon smell?
"""games"""
These are "experiences" and you know it
And NMS, so pretty much all games worth a shit except Wipeout.
get a snake and then never clean its tank
Lol at the niggas who can't afford VR and are terrified that it will replace regular games.
Here is my VR blog:
Day 1 Rift, day 1 touch, fat PC. VR is really neat and the tech is impressive apart from the resolution (could easily swallow screen door and lense artifacts), its like the future of gaming but without the games. I played pretty much anything there was and it was mostly shovelware or indie shit. Would have loved to play a multiplayer shooter like BF or Titanfall with dedicated HMD support/ui ( and I did via fake injection but thats only good for a moment) but AAA devs didn't support it. Sold all the shit and never looked back.
get rid of the second desk and yeah clean up your room bucko
The Persistence is only on PS4
at the end of Borderlands VR the trailer was a line “Borderlands 2 VR is exclusive to PSVR for a minimum of 5 months from launch.”
So iIt's a timed exclusive, and timer runs out in May. Will Gearbox bother to make a PC port? that a whole other discussion
Windows MR is exactly that. You can get one for around $200, its plug and play, literally just one cable going to your pc, and the one I have (lenovo explorer) is very lightweight and comfortable.
I feel like once you've invested the effort in making the game VR compatible at all it's very little effort to make the game PC compatible so there's really no reason they shouldn't, unless sony are being cunts.
t. vr game dev
Chinese NES clone i had did.
An increase of 54% on a few hundred is still only around 450.
Good thing dou didn't, it looks like shit.
Odyssey+ when it goes on sale nigga
Resident Evil 7 in VR is one of the best experiences in the world period. Tetris Effect is incredible, Farpoint and Firewall are among the best shooting games you can play on any system, Dreams is beyond amazing and will let you play new VR games every day or make your own without any technical skills.
imagine using Windows 7 in the same year it stops getting security updates
>Resident Evil 7 in VR is one of the best experiences in the world period.
How do you not shit and piss yourself?
found the seething hipster
oh right, I mixed it up with Transference
Think about it this way user, do you wanna be the guy who threw out his bed so he could play VR games and sleep on the floor? If you ever get a girl over, do you think she'll be impressed ?
It smells like platinum silicone + vagina
what a clever joke
>SALES OF VR HEADSETS TO INCREASE 54.1% IN 2019
That's like 9 sales increase
what is your game and how much money you made from it?
get it all out beforehand

I don't know. Had my fair share of "VR" with Cardboard.
Used some better gear at gaming events, but saw nothing justifying the jump in pricing.
The best experience was probably that EVE space shooter.
*blocks YOUR path*
Post streamVR benchmark results.
They'll keep coming
>Cardboard
>I don't know about this digital games thing guys, this jaguar thing wasn't very good
>only 5 smell slots
FeelReal seems better since it has 9 slots plus extras like water mist and wind blowing on your face.
cardboard doesnt count at all. bad optics, bad tracking, bad latency, bad fov, bad input, bad software, bad everything. everything that a vr system can get wrong, it gets wrong, and goes one step further by not even being head mounted so you don't get any real immersion and are constantly reminded that you are just holding a piece of garbage up to your face
this applies to any windows 95 and up
Who here preordering?
does it come with a "woman" scent pack?
Dragon pussy

All /VR/dogs report in.
thanks, i see you are very clever as well
There's only one scent I want when I play VR and it's the smell of my smoked weed emanating from my bathroom.
>stealing my vr dog
around gaben, never immerse yourself in vr
Being high in VR is way too much for my tiny monkey brain to handle.
I either laugh so hard I get tired and want to lay down or I just freak out because people clip their face in my face and start screaming.
Oh, I don't do social things in VR, I have too much social anxiety
One time I accidentally made an online match of From Other Suns and some guy joined, it was terrible.
DUDE WEED LMAO
VR is a gimmick, id get it to play Rez and Zone of the Enders and let it collect dust, meaning i have almost no reason to make such a poor investment
VR is the Sega CD of video games right now, popular enough to gain some traction but not enough to become the standard in terms of add ons and it never will be
Do you sperg out over people drinking and enjoying alcohol?
t. guy who hasn't played vr
What can I say, he's very charismatic. I apologize, user, I'll only post Ocu-doge from now on.

WUBBA DUBBA LUB LUB
>VR is a gimmick
Oh yeah, how do you play YOUR games? With a "monitor"?
do you think those doggos are freaked out because they cant see their noses?

playing "3D" games on a flat monitor is literally a gimmick
I hope not. Only VR doggos should experience is calm and serene one like being shown the earth of cosmos under the comfy voice of David Attenborough or Stephen Fry. streamable.com

That's already here though.

Looks real, feels real, definitely feels real for fatty when he tumbled.
LOOK MOM
I, TOO, CAN BE GAY
>even the vr bot seems to be laughing
It's another player so he's probably actually laughing.
Total imbecile level question here, but I'm getting marginally curious about VR. The range of headsets is kind of daunting though, especially considering every VR game tells you which headsets they're compatible with.
So- if I tried to play a game not compatible with the headset I'm using, what would happen? Would it lose performance, would it not display properly, or would it just say "Fuck you, I'm not even gonna try"?
You can't do lewd things to her. Yet. Some lowkey sexual harassment, but that's about it.
the headset is the easy part, it's the controllers that need the support
You can use ReVive to play pretty much any VR game on any headset. At worst you'll run into control inconveniences due to a game being designed for a specific controller.
All right, good to know.
Wait 2 more months, Oculus and Valve are both releasing new headsets and one of them will be a good bet. It's looking like Valve's Index will be the way to go, but depends on price.
WMR has an official SteamVR compatibility layer
Oculus games can be played with WMR and SteamVR sets by using Revive, it technically works fine but the controllers are different so you can have input incompatibilities.
I'm gay af and have gotten a handful of lapdances in VR Chat from traps who turned out to be chicks (or so they calimed which mystifies bc I'm already gay so why try and punk homos like that). Now I think I might be bi or worse...straight like when I was a kid.
64 whole hours played, I can just tell that it was all worth it. I'll pass, my dude.

I still have my release day Vive.
I won't buy another headset until 4k per eye can be driven reliably by hardware which is still years off.
>new wave of headsets coming out this year, one being stand-alone and normie-facing as a Beat Saber machine
Gee, ya fucking think, Mr.Blogger-of-VirtualPerceptions?
I wish /vrg/ wasn't such a shithole and would organize meetups and tournaments on actually fun games like ping pong instead of that horrid eternal VRChat circlejerk.

But if he never gets a girl, he's passing up passionate VR sex.
It's why I only bother to talk VR-related shit here on Yea Forums. /vg/ as usual, is just the containment board.
Quite curious to see what Index will offer since I doubt Valve is the "twiddle your thumbs and re-release the same shit" type like Oculus/HTC are.
Does it make me a bad person that the only reason I'm excited for the Oculus Quest is because I want to see the VRChat devs crash and burn trying to make their 'game' work on it?
What does IDC stand for?
I don't care.
Gottem
Palmer Luckey cried almost in his final days trying to get a straight answer from someone as to what his future is there, but from the looks of it he seems like he took it well.
It will most certainly have a wireless add-on like the Vive Pro, it already has the snicker bar slot in the middle.
wasn't the inventor really young like 18? and now he's a billionare
Was VR the biggest flop in the gaming world? Even in other consumer markets like with phones it hasn't really taken off at all.
He sure is. He got to keep all his buyout money from faceberg, and Peter Thiel helped him out and now he develops tech for the department of defense. youtube.com
In SteamVR/OpenVR, the HMDs are all almost totally interchangeable without issue. There are literally probably less than a dozen total VR games on Steam (out of thousands, none of the major games) with true HMD exclusivity of some kind, and those will just lock you out with a message or display a black screen.
The support notifications are almost entirely about which controllers they natively support, and even if they're not natively/officially supported they will almost always still work, just with annoyances like in-game controller representations not matching your actual controllers.
Oculus Store and API only supports Oculus hardware, but games for it can be played using SteamVR through a hack called Revive. There will be the same controller mismatch issues described before. There are only a handful of Oculus exclusive games worth playing, though, and you can easily skip installing anything Oculus/Facebook altogether if you get any other HMD.
Don't buy anything now, wait till the May 1st Valve Index full reveal. It WILL be the best HMD available, the only question is how bad the price is going to be. If it's truly outside your budget, the next best will probably remain the Odyssey+ at its $300 sale price, unless older HMDs prices start dropping.
Gaben nows what's up. Index does what Oculus can't. Day one buy.
It's steadily growing and shows no signs of stopping, the tech can only get better and cheaper and more attractive.
Despite making up 13% of the population Blacks make up 54.1% of VR headset sales
There's already bundle listings though.
That's just a leaked place holder page for the headset itself
This honestly would not surprise me. I know and work with a lot of black people, and EVERY SINGLE ONE had a Kinect back in the day.
Those headphones without padding look so weird, I hope they don't fuck up the comfort.
>instead of selling two they're selling three
Okay congratulations.
Clearly memeing, but that's actually very true.
They do seem to love whatever the latest gimmick is.
It'll work in the sense that they'll only force "Excellent" avatars to be allowed to render on it, along with a cherry-picked list of worlds.
Probably yes. I can't play Halflife because I get supersick. I have VR and while some things work better, like arm swinger, I still feel unconfortable and go to teleport all the time.
I can only stand 'bobbing' of stuff in a view model sense in VR. Anything that fucks with my vertical height with regular movement (aside from going up slopes/ledges/etc) is a no-go.
Are they cheaper?
yeah
>usb 3.0
Dragon cock
>There are """"people"""" who actually get motion sickness playing video games

why do you people act as if it was expensive
It's presumably got something to do with their rumored haptic features. Most likely they actually push air around in big ways you can feel (in which case you're probably not supposed to have them in direct contact with your ears, anyway). or it could be some kind of GVS (but that is usually done through adhesive patch probes just behind the ear, and seems to have troubling response-extinction problems which have thus far prevented commercialization). Valve isn't fucking around.
Sort of figure that half of that increase is because of Ace combat 7
It looks like a mid point between Vive and Pimax, I think Valve is making a solid set with no stupid gimmicks or overpriced "ultra specs" which is exactly what we need.
Steadily growing by 0.001% is still a flop unfortunately. And really, you could make the case it has been growing since the 90s just not in the consumer market.
Member when Wii was cool. I member. member when vr was cool? I don't. Seems like the only value of VR is for betas who can not get puss to fuck their waifus. Or play stupid Guitar hero esque games. The only people who should buy VR are people with disposibal income who can afford to lose a few 1000 bucks.
Nope, exponential growth is the opposite of flopping.
The point is you need to have 'ultra specs' for wider FoV unless you want even more SDE bullshit. Ideally they slap a 2k x 2k panel per eye at the least, and if your GPU can't handle it, then you just upscale from a lower resolution.
>the tech can only get better

Is Skyrim VR any good?
It's Skrim, so no
Memeing aside, you can literally climb the mountain and scale it and shit.

I have an Oculus, VR has no fucking games. Valve needs to push out some HL2-equivalent titles for VR soon, because Boneworks is the only promising thing out there.
just download the ESM, it's only a few hundred megabytes
trying to gauge FOV by looking at lenses is silly to begin with and especially silly in this case when we know the optics have some kind of super special unique features (but no idea what exactly).
bigger lenses is how you get higher fov
>another generation of shitty glued in plastic lenses
Hopefully they avoid the FoV warping issue Pimax has where if you look to the sides and turn your head, you can get nauseous.
Exponential growth from 0.001% market share to 0.1%. Truly a success.
Why do genetic failures get sick from everything?
I just got a PS4 Pro. Is it worth getting the VR headset?
A 10000% growth would be gigantic, yes.
1% of users have VR sets connected on Steam, it's not an impressive proportion but that's in a platform with 90 million users and it's steadily growing.
Buddy of mine says he doesn't get motion sickness from his Rift, but he does plan his bowel movements accordingly bc he's said if you're playing or working out in it you will eventually have to dump. Other than that no signs of motion sickness. I think motion sickness in VR in a kid thing. You shouldn't get motion sickness as an adult and something you learn to shake off your body as a kid.
fuck yea PSVR is cheap as fuck and has some awesome games
>vrgamerankings.com
Yes, 10000% percent growth from 0%. With how much money is being put into it it's such a success. I too remember when steam machines had a 100000% percent growth.
It is. One of the best consumer VRs out there. Might wanna wait a year or half, or get one for cheap if you can right now, bc Sony just patented their own knuckles and they've got a cordless headset in the works.
>I just got a PS4 Pro
Sorry to hear that.
I don't think you understand what growth means at all, flops don't grow especially since we're talking about current users with sets connected and not just guessing based on sales.
>I too remember when steam machines had a 100000% percent growth.
Source?
these are shit like "cardboard-likes" and samsung vr.
>Inside out
It's probably the best gaming experience I've ever had, unironically, and I'm not a huge fan of Skyrim (although I don't hate it either like is the meme de jour)
PCVR is growing too.
I had a launch model. I just got pic related and I deserve it.
Fuck yeah I will definitely pick one up eventually. I will finally be able to play Miku VR
this graph is missing latest Q4 2018 and Q1 2019, with all the Christmass sales. Right now it's .96% adoption
We can expect big boost if Index is reasonably priced and comes with notable games

The thing is that a Valve game would boost sales of all HMDs even if Index turned out shit, blockbuster games is what VR is missing.
Unlikely as it can be applied outside of gaming
$400-500 MSRP and a half life vr game bundled on top of a few other games would sell a fuckton
Oculus lost the day it was sold to faceberg.
Nah, they lost when they decided to make the Rift S a sidegrade to the Rift instead of an upgrade
Glass is not good for fresnel lenses.
We must never forget.
>half life vr game
Can you imagine the shitstorm from if this actually happened?
15 years of hype and it's VR exclusive lmao, this entire board would have a collective stroke
I want it to badly, both for this reason and because I played HL2VR and it was vidya kino

>No rift 2, other three models cancelled and likely reshaped into the Go and Quest.
No wonder we're in the dark age of VR right now.
this happened because Oculus failed to lock down the PC platform. Zuckerberg switched all money to mobile VR since they can control it with an iron fist.
We're in the dark age because nobody ever made any games.
>SALES OF VR HEADSETS TO INCREASE 54.1%
spoiler: it wont
Better stock up on your popcorn because this shit is happening, code popped up in fucking artifact of all things
Price is certainly a relevant factor in the rate of VR adoption, but not a dominant one – as someone who has had to eat my hat multiple times in pursuit of keeping costs low, I feel like I intimately understand what it must have felt like to deal with the response to the E3 2006 Playstation 3 price announcement. Five hundred and ninety nine US dollars?! The hypothetical visor provides quite a bit more for your money, though – it may not sell billions of units, but it would certainly sell by the hundreds of millions. Lower pricing for existing VR technology can help expand the size of the active and engaged userbase, but not to nearly the degree many people would expect. I want to take this a step further and make a bold claim: No existing or imminent VR hardware is good enough to go truly mainstream, even at a price of $0.00. You could give a Rift+PC to every single person in the developed world for free, and the vast majority would cease to use it in a matter of weeks or months. I know this from seeing the results of large scale real-world market testing, not just my own imagination – hardcore gamers and technology enthusiasts are entranced by the VR of today, as am I, but stickiness drops off steeply outside of that core demographic. Free is still not cheap enough for most people, because cost is not what holds them back actively or passively. I hope and pray I am wrong, but most people are not like you or me. If I had to make a concrete bet, I would put a hypothetical ultimate ceiling for VR in the next two years at perhaps 50 million active users, and that could only happen with an unreasonable amount of investment that would be better spent on other parts of the problem. That is okay! That is fine! That is great, even! That is more than enough for a healthy VR ecosystem, especially given the high spending potential for engaged VR users, but well short of the ultimate potential.
It grew 30% in 2018.
Because it's not May yet
>One of the best consumer VRs out there.
It's in a whole other class from all PC VR, user. A lower one. Seated with a gamepad isn't real VR.
PSVR isn't inside-out. It's utter shit worse than WMR style inside-out tracking. It's recycled unsold PS3 hardware.
SOMEONE MAKE A VR GAME WITH ME AHHHHHH
I remember your posts on aggydag, we could team up but I don't have a VR set yet.
>Zuckerberg switched all money to mobile VR

Do you have any skills, can you use UE4 ? Or are you at least willing to learn / make levels (easy) ?
most of them aren't available on Quest

I actually thought people didn't do this
Professional UI designer here. I lorem ipsum all the time.
Yeah I have decent UE4 experience and worked on a Thief-like prototype, gimmie some contact info.
>a few thousand games.
it clearly says "91 games" at the bottom.
All they had to do was use the fucking Oculus Quest and modify it for Rift S, instead of building a new (worse) Rift based on Lenovo's WMR left-overs.
That's the new releases filter, click show all and it will show about 3700.
it will remain a meme until it reaches midrange PC price convenience (For the entire setup) or physical feedback is solved.
this is irrefutable.
why'd you stop working on the prototype?
>says the faggot that probably paid 500bucks for an overpriced gpu
Not him but like 99% of game prototypes go nowhere
I wanted to finish my 2D puzzle game first but I'm in a devblock with that too.
>need a top of the line PC with an expensive peripheral on top of having enough room to navigate
VR is expensive on multiple fronts
that's new releases, user
store.steampowered.com
2330 VR games with motion controller and room-scale support. if you drop the motion controller and roomscale requirements it goes up to 3272.
a good chunk of these aren't real (unreleased or abandoned EA shit), another good chunk are true shovelware, or flat games with terrible VR support tacked on, etc. shit you should never play. No matter how you try to reason against it there's still over a thousand VR games on Steam.
His fault I guess for being unwilling to switch platforms as needs be fit.
>backstabs Valve and sells out to facebook
>gets locked into facebook platform
>facebook stops making PC VR
Poetic justice! I hope his new business fails because of this.
If faceberg keeps being faceberg then it's safe to say he will be willing to switch, he obviously prefers Oculus and their SDK since he worked on them.
Yes, return to your 8 hour, 60 dollar AAA experiences.
(I use a Rift, so more of my play time is there)
If you can stand up and swing your arms about, you have enough room for everything up to a 360 degree game (which is the vast, vast majority of them)
>VRfag: "STOP CALLING ALL THE VR GAMES SHIT! YOU SOUND JUST LIKE ANOTHER MINDLESS CONSOLE WARS FANBOY!"
>Me: "Ok then, name them. Name these amazing VR games."
>VRfag: "AGAIN NO, YOU ARE JUST GONNA CALL THEM ALL SHIT"
>Me: "Ok ok fine fine I won't call them shit. Just name them already."
>VRfag: "FINALLY you are capable of listening. There is "tech demo 1", also a great one is "tech demo 2", and one of my favorites recently is "VR port of a game you played five years ago"! These are all GREAT games! Definitely worth $400 to play! So, what do you think?"
I'm in a bind Yea Forums, I promised him that I wouldn't call these tech demo's and VR versions of old games I already played shit, so what should I tell him?
His new business is drone surveillance for military/security applications (specifically the US southern border). I don't think it's threatened by Facebook making a shitty product.
Something along the lines of, I could play X just fine without VR.
Poor guy probably had to sign a non-compete clause because his heart is obviously in VR but now he's cucked out by berg and must settle with shooting at border hoppers.
Why is it a nigger woman using the headset? I remember seeing articles whining that tech enthusiast white guys were 98% of the VR userbase.
All you had to do was ask. You'd be hard pressed to find a genuine VRfag who actually takes like that that's uninronic about it all. I think it's actually "glorified tech demos" and full games are one and the same if you really about it. But on the off chance this VRfag character still rees, then just keeping poking him with a stick until he buckles, runs off, and then comes back next day for another round. I think most /VR/gins are either mildly satisfied at their best with their headsets, and indifferent at their worst to the point they just have them collecting dust. Then again tism is everywhere so who knows.
I'll return to my 700+ hour 5 dollar indie experiences. Have fun with your 300 dollar shovelware simulator.

he's selling the military VR tech using the Oculus SDK and hardware. Now the Rift 1 isn't for sale and the Rift S has no IPD slider, that potentially ruins his military applications. Serves him right for not using OpenVR.
>non-compete clause because his heart is obviously in VR
He does, yeah. Doesn't say explicitly in the book about it, but he is barred from working in VR though no one knows for how long, probably for life.
From Other Suns had TONS of potential, and it's pretty good, but it never got any updates. Pretty sad desu.
I'll join you between VR sessions because i have both. Factorio is nearing release.
Hopefully OpenXR suits his requirements since it's what Faceberg/Steam/WMR are all adopting when the standard is fully inplace.
>Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice
The game actively loses a lot being in the first person though. It's one of the few very titles with pancake+VR support that I'd much rather prefer in desktop mode.
Protip: No Man's Sky is $10 new at Game stop if you can find a copy, be prepared, I just got a copy
And if you want to watch Terminator 2 in 3D but need region A disc, they just released a Japanese 3D blu Ray for about 35$
I'll just post it here instead

there is no such thing as a legal lifetime noncompete. i'm pretty sure it's statutorially limited to ~5 years almost everywhere.

Why do poors SEETHE so much when there's discussion of shit they can't afford?
There's a piracy thread up if they want to vent
LOL
IT WILL HAPPEN
but it wont be half life ***3***, not sho if that will help though
There's no way facebook is going to actually use OpenXR. It goes against their entire walled garden business model. If they do use it, it'll be with modifications to lock the software down to their platform still.
>I remember seeing articles whining that tech enthusiast white guys were 98% of the VR userbase.
link me to this gold
It will be Half-Life 3, but it won't reveal it until the end of the first part (which is itself comparable in length to either of the first two games). You're playing as Alyx because of the unseen events of Episode 3.
You think Palmer will be back in the VR by 2023 and help make it great again, or just remain a spectator? Can't imagine he wants to be stuck in defense tech for the rest of his life. Who would have him even if he were to give it another shot?
They were the biggest voice for wanting to switch to OpenXR, they're going to use it. Doesn't meant they can't force hardware ID checks (to allow only verified Oculus owners in) for applications to launch from their own storefront though.
Shame, dude. Looks sick af.
No one probably wants to hire the guy who got fired from his company to help the most disliked President of the 21st century for PR reasons alone. Otherwise, probably Valve since they dropped a bit of their VR staff recently.
>force hardware ID checks
then it won't achieve anything of value and we're back to square 1
Facebook won't be using OpenXR because they're already totally done with PC VR. They don't have any VR team anymore, they licensed the Rift S out to Lenovo, Quest is their real 'Gen 2'. Rift S is a pure strategic product which exists to try to massage the diehard fans into the Rift->Quest PC->Console transition. It is also going to be quickly discontinued after just a few years just like the original Rift.
I really want to make a Wizardry-like dungeon crawler for VR, what's the cheapest headset with decent sensors for PC?
It achieves the value of VR devs having a less pain in the ass time being able to support Rift in addition to other headsets, instead of having to deal with fucky SteamVR doing it for them which incurs its own performance overhead.
Gaben dumping on Faceberg a year ago. Fingers crossed the index makes things better youtube.com
*Two years ago. Also a Tyler vid? really?
>Naysayers are just repeating the same denial tactics as they did when all the headset preorders sold out
Just trace everything during the room setup so you can go anywhere in your room.
Odyssey+ on sale is a good option, but i'd probably wait to see how Index fares.
VR is great but the entry price for the amount of games and other players is fucking ridiculous.
We got revolutionary tech, now we just need to revolutionize it until it's as cheap as a new monitor so poorfags can buy them and are (atleast) as good as Vive.
Palmer is not any kind of valuable genius, he's just a nerd who got unbelievably lucky. He won't be back in any major way. He's doing the border defense shit because it's a cause he actually believes in. Maybe he and Notch will team up and make a game or something, or he'll market the first sexbot or something - I think HMDs are already a hypercompetitive market with a clear and rapid trajectory..
Valve is the one saving VR with pointed industry-level moves trying to minimize other shitty megacorps harm, and even they'd sincerely prefer not to have to be.
I bet they'll still end up writing code for SteamVR and the Oculus SDK just to make use of platform specific features.
Are there waifu games for VR yet? If not then I'm not interested.
There's a few.
>Patreon
That's a yikers from me
It's free to download, but paid gets you the latest build sooner.
There's way gayer, user. That's kindergarten shit compared to what's out there.
Hellblade Senua's Sacrifice VR isn't first person. It's third person, just like the pancake game. With added creepiness in cutscenes when Senua turns around and looks at you, into your eyes, even if you try to step away.
Should I cheap out on a Rift or go for a Vive? I want to make VR porn
Hellblade makes me wish more games would get VR modes like that. I love good motion control stuff but just sitting with a joypad is nice too. It's a shame the RE2 remake didn't come with a mode, given how well the vr was received in RE7.
A Deadspace remake would be cool to see too. Perfect given how there's no hud.
wtf it's not 2016, both Rift and Vive are outdated
To be fair, all that needs to happen is a $10 discount on PSVR and you get a 54.1% increase in sales.
Yet the Vive still retails for £700~
if valve's headset will have eye tracking, I will eat my own shit
will you stream the shit eating?

I dunnooooo...still feeling on the fence...seems TOO good of a deal if you ask me.
I only want a headset for 3 reasons:
1. PoV VR porn
2. VR H games
3. NBA VR sideline
It's crazy that I need to spend roughly $300 for a decent quality model, or else i'm stuck with poor visuals and sound.
Is GTX1070 enough really enough for Rift or Odyssey+? I know it matches minimum requirements but I want to know what settings can I run on, everything max (expect supersampling)? I bought it recently so I still don't want to upgrade it just yet. Also running i7 6700k if that helps.
Your low poly looks like low-skill high poly
970 was good enough for a vive, 1070 should be fine bruddah.
I'd suggest the Steam VR test if you're really concerned
>3. NBA VR sideline
If only VR video didn't require 5k+ resolution to not be a blurry mess.
Depends on a game, something like Lone Echo is very demanding, but majority of VR games are designed to run on minimum requirement GPU
some of the reviews have said it looks good, minus the names and jersey numbers. i'm not picky about shit like that, but it would be nice if I could see it for myself before I commit to buying.
I run well on a 1070 with an old 2600k. Using a rift.
I have PSVR and honestly Ace Combat is the only good game, but dang it's fucking good
Most games are low rez as fuck. It's like strapping a vita onto your face.
>Putting the new Reddit and Morty game on there as an exclusive even though it's only timed exclusive for four days
Oh its just a marketing shill
I'm pleasantly surprised that AC7 cared about the fanbase and the past games.
I only have a Gear vr, but there's nothing more i love than pussy, tits, ass, and pretty slut faces in my grill. Can't wait to upgrade, vrbros
>having to include multiplats
Least it can't be worse than all the porn crap with badly calibrated cameras that massively fuck up the stereo convergence.
What's up with the ring finger only moving once it's already half bent over compared to the Index?
>VR keeps improving
when the fuck am i supposed to buy in without being outdated in a second
Any HMD will take as much as you can hope to give it (it will always be possible to get bad performance, in almost any game). 1070 should be fine for current 1440x1600 HMDs. The 970 low-bar is well established now and isn't going to shift for a few more years.
duncha alreddy have a VR head hat, ya lil munkay? streamable.com
he was holding it half over the other finger
Why does Yea Forums hates the Valve Index?
nu-Yea Forums is infested with 'vr is a meme gimmick fad that is already over' memers, 'valve/steam are evil lazy jews who ruined gaming' memers, and legit facebook shills. Valve HMD is the perfect trigger for nu-Yea Forums.
It's like that with every tech thing. I doubt my CV1 Rift is going to be unable to play games for a while yet.
I'm too poor. I need to get some super berries or whatever they're talking about from streaming.
Just start trapping in VRchat. Plenty of sugardaddies willing to help a poorbie fresh off the bus get them on their feet and shower them with VR bux.
I know it's hardly vidya thread, but i just wanted to say that it took me three years or so to finally try out quake 1 in vr and it's amazing. Mouse/kb controls are not a bother, shooting an enemy without even looking at him and confirming kill by groan sound while flying around the map feels amazing. It's kinda like this early hl2 vr port, except this thing is still here and hl2 was dropped.
This looks fun as fuck. Will have to try it.
No space in my house. Give me a GOOD VR mmo like .hack or some shit and I will make space
Orbus is the only mmo available atm but it's dead as fuck, full release is in like 3 weeks though
How many is that in million because nobody is going to make games that need to sell 10 million units to break even if the target market is only a niche upon a niche.
VR never appealed to me. Not even the porn.
>Give me a GOOD VR mmo like .hack
>Not SAO
I figure that was for slotting a Leap Motion into while they were prototyping ideas.
>still has the snickers bar insert, but faceplate covers it
Leap Motion doesn't even do that snickers bar anymore, it's purely software and even if it was just prototyping then they could just tape it in front of the HMD instead of making a mold just for it.
You obviously open it up to insert whatever add-ons they will do, I predict removing the plate will also be a popular mod to make it cooler.
>No snickers bar slot anymore
Oh what the fuck happened to this world...
The snicker bar slot is still there, I meant that Leap Motion doesn't do their hardware thingy anymore but I think I'm wrong, seems like they still produce it.
why do you bait for replied by using "why does x hate x" meme?
If Valve would wanted to so explicitly support computer vision hand tracking they would absolutely do it themselves, off the stock cameras (and I bet they will, meant to be fused with knuckles finger tracking data). There is no need for add-ons for that any more.
