CS killed my interest in the series.
I liked TiTS but CS was just bad. Finished CS 1 and got to the second part of CS2, lost all interest and then finding out there was a FOURTH fucking game was the final nail in the coffin for me. This shit just drags on and on and the vast majority of the characters were boring.
It's a clear l sign of thinking more characters = better.

Might play Zero and Ao and see how Calvard is but I'm not holding my breath so I'll probably just give up on the series.

My biggest problem with playing cold steel 1 so far bought the PS4 remaster is that the calendar just skips way too many days to the point where the formula becomes free day, exam, field trip, requests on field trip and then back to the next free day which when the requests are mainly fetch or kill monster quests gets does get a bit stale and formulaic. Does this get any better in the next game and how far into the game am I currently if I'm at Nord Highlands with Gaius, Jusis and Emma as part of the June field trip?

1 and 2 both used the PhyreEngine, which works on pretty much everything (except Switch, at least Wikipedia isn't listing Switch as supported and they list pretty much everything else). 3 uses a different engine though and I wasn't able to find out which it is. The s crafts are bullshit. Tia can summon a orbal satellite that nukes an entire city in her s craft but power levels wise she’s one of the weakest playable characters. The strongest characters are not the main characters in kiseki, but generally they are upper level church members, ouroboros enforcers/anguis, jaegars and military. Bracers are the next tier below but even then their strongest members are typically former jaegars or military.

Nah, FC's White Witch callbacks were great and its town arcs were way better than CS1's. SC had a major padding problem but it still advanced its narrative way better than CS2 did. The vast majority of CS2's plot was just filling in the gaps that Ao left while it was going on rather than advancing the overarching plot in any meaningful way.

1 was okay because I did enjoy the world building and the ending.
2 was pretty padded out and had some segments that it definitely didn't need, compounded worse with the last half just being fucked up with in the future titles despite leaving the series in an interesting situation. 3 was just another 1 but I will question why they needed to expanded the cast even further despite not developing the original class 7 enough

Because they actually focused on the core party in III in a way the other games didn't. The older characters were more like guests, and they worked better that way given how thin their personalities were and how little they had to say to anyone not Rean. You had some of that in IV too before the cast of thousands section of the story kicked in, but at that point it becomes the Rean and Crow show anyway and the supporting players take a back seat. I feel like Old VII didn't really need to be there either outside of it being logical for them to want to help. They had even less to contribute than New VII, who at least had more defined interactions with each other and formed a better main party.

New Class VII was a mistake and should have never been included.
