YES! WE FUDGING DID IT BROS!!! I CAN'T WAIT TO POST THIS ON /R/GAMING, /R/GAMES AND /R/GAMERSRISEUP
>go to gamestop
>look at games on the shelves
>it's all used shit with stickers and the actually discs thrown in a drawer
>ask the cashier for the game I wanna buy
>he has to go to the backstore to get it
>comes back
>hey bro you got a members card
>no
>you want one?
>no I don't
>you get points
>I don't want a card dude
>alright bro would you like to buy insurance for your game
>no
>if something happens to your game..
>no I just want my game
>that'll be 79.99$ PLUS TAX
FUCK GAMESTOP
fuck, i was about to have a job from GameStop as an data migration specialist. did i just dodged a bullet?
that said, Persona 5 wont be coming to switch ! screencap this
Stop forcing your employees to agressivly push preorders, it makes people not want to go there.
Good, they a shit company and everyone that works for them complains for them being shit
BUY BUY BUY
>Pop into EB Games
>Talk with the manager there who's a cool guy
>Even he agrees with me shopping at Amazon instead of EB
$9 of what?
Stock?
What's the context and where's the provided proof?
GameStop just did their report for 2018 and apparently preowned sales have dropped too.
Honestly I never really had a bad experience at EB Games. They’re pretty good for the most part
How long do they have left, Yea Forums?
how old are you? the tweet is talking about game stop stock value which dropped 13% down to $9 per share. Why would the tweet need context anyway unless you were like 14 years old and didnt know how the stock market worked.

>673 MILLION DOLLAR LOSS IN 2018
Holy fucking shit, what the fuck went SO wrong?
>Gamestop goes under
>has to get rid of inventory
>can't realistically sell all the used games
>just destroy all the used games and used systems if no other company will buy their inventory
>used game market fucked
>prices skyrocket thanks to a sudden jump in rarity for older games and opportunistic merchants
Don't celebrate too soon. They are a necessary evil.
It's too much headache and they've nickel and dimed everything good away.
Have you been to a Gamestop recently? There's games on the walls, sure. About 20% are new games (which are opened and you have to get the discs from their drawer) and the other 80% are used games sold for 5 bucks under MSRP that GS makes an easy 50 in profit for. Every other inch of space is "nerd culture" items.
It's literally a can't fail business if you don't fuck around. Guess what Gamestop does though?
>aggressively push bullshit rewards
>tremendous turnover rate
>talented sales people are moved out of sales, reducing sales
>people who work there encouraged to not play video games
>actively pander to a crowd that hates video games, while shitting on people who do
But to be fair, it's capitalism that's the problem. By forcing Gamestop to earn more and more money they have to chase these short term markets and shoot themselves in the foot. If it were possible for the greedy retards who run this company to be okay with just making a shit-ton of money, they wouldn't have run into these problems.
Either way fuck em.
They closed the gamestop in my town 2 years ago. As far as im concerned they dont exist anymore
This never bothered me, every time I was asked if I wanted to preorder and said no it was never brought up again.
One would hope that they'd have closing sales where we could attempt to save anything of value. The 7 million copies of Madden 2009 can burn.
I'm surprised they haven't been bought out and rebranded into their new parent company's dedicated game section. Like an Amazon Games store or Best Buy Games instead of those retarded mobile shops that close in a few months before getting replaced with another furniture shop.
People often celebrate things that will hurt them in the future. This isn't the first and it won't be the last. Once the used market goes, it's over. Hopefully, it tranfers to an online market, but it might not...then comes online only consoles and Sony, MS, Nint, hiking the prices up further and further. Then the crash.
They'll keep inventing new excuses for the hikes, too. It will go from "games need to be printed. boxes made, shipped to retailers. costs munny!" to "servers cost a lot to maintain! need a price hike!"
Remember gamestop just straight up threw out everything n64 and older? There isnt much of value at gamestop anymore.
BUY
THE
DIP
gamestop always be throwing stuff out. My friend use to work there and manager would squire stuff to be throw in trash without being able to take it home. No wonder they poor af now
Most of their revenue comes from that stupid "I'm a le nerd xD" merchandise, believe it or not.
This get ready for permanent 60$ price tags
Not surprising. That shit is the only reason why most comic stores that are still open manage to keep their head above water.
I wouldn't be surprised if most of those were reproduction carts that they never bothered to verify.
May as well cut the crap and rebrand as Funkostop
>Every other inch of space is "nerd culture" items.
Kek, this is true. Picked up Sekiro on a whim from them recently and more than half the store was riddled with useless toys and gimmicks no one buys.
I was wondering if I'd ever hear "Gamestop" and "Lowest" in the same sentence when talking about something's cash value.
>go to gamestop to get the demo disk for Monster Hunter Wii
>they refuse to give it to me unless I buy the game
>show them the printed email FROM CAPCOM that says the demo is free
>they still wouldn't give me the demo disk
>just take the disk and walk out
>they shout at me for stealing
>feel like shit afterwards even though I was LEGALLY in the right
>never been back to gamestop since
FUCKING GAMESTOP, I'm glad they'll be out of busyness soon
WII GAME
why would you need a demo for a game you're already going to buy? the whole point is to get you to buy it. those employees are dumb
Oh look it's a Yea Forums thread pretending it knows what a stock is
You get the lowest cash value for trades at gamestop
Touche.
Why didn't they try becoming a digital store? I don't understand businesses that just lay down and die.
>go to buy Sekiro at Gamestop on release day
>Go down at 10am, an hour after they open
>"Uh do you have a pre-order?"
>"No"
>"Sorry, but we're all sold out. You'll have to come back next week"
>"Okay."
Then I went home and downloaded it from PSN. And this was at 10am. How many more people came in the next 7 hours asking for the game and they had to turn them down? Gamestop's retarded pre-order scheme is why they are going under. Not to mention how all the used games sections have been replaced with funko pops and t-shirts nobody buys.
E-Eb Games isn’t c-connected to gamestop right? I kinda like my store cuz it does demos monthly so it would be a bummer if they closed up shop.
Fuck off Dobson. Mac gamers are not welcome here.
Depends on the country. I know gamestop absorbed EB games in the US. I heard EB is still alive and independent in canada though.
My local comic shop doubles as a candy shop ever since our dedicated candy shop closed down.
The fact that gamestop straight up throws out old shit into the dumpster infuriates me. Imagine how many SNES carts and shit gamestop destroyed in their corporate incompetance.
I genuinely hope they don't shit down. Their used deals are fucking amazing and it's the only place you can get some more obscure games in my town.
Gamestop is called eb games in Australia.
It's like creating an artificial market shortage to increase demand. It used to work when it wasn't possible to get games digitally since if you wanted a game at launch the only way to guarantee it was to preorder. To do it in the current year is just retarded.
Same reason Blockbuster didn't become Netflix before Netflix. All it took was to move their store online, then add streaming, and they would've destroyed the early Netflix overnight. But they underestimated the competition.
>2002
>go to comic book store for a warlord ccg tournament
>want to buy more product
>friend hands me a twenty
>shop owner loses his fucking mind thinking we're trading for money
>holy shit dude
>realize years later why he did that
>feel bad
I just haven't been in to the TT or CG hobbies lately, but I go to them whenever I can.
Outdated business model, why would I go into a gamestop and have some annoying employee bother me when I can just direct download or if I care to get a physical copy just get release day delivery?
Doubt they will soon but it's definitely coming they're inevitably going to start going the way of blockbuster
jesus christ either they had an overwhelming amount of people there at the release the night before or they severely underordered everything.
my town isn't the biggest but the gamestop is in the most popular part of the area, i went to gamestop at 6pm of the actual release day and still got it. they asked if i had a pre-order and when i said no they still gave me the pre-order sword display just because they had too many
When gamestop closes people gonna pretend they liked it. Just like when ToysRUs closed
I've been told multiple times from different GameStops that the newly released game I'm looking for is out of stock everywhere and that I should have pre-ordered. Each time of course was a lie and I found several copies at a Walmart/Target/Best Buy less than a mile away.
I think more people are just buying physical copies from gamestop or other stores like walmart / target while they're shopping there just to avoid the 3 minute barrage of questions you get every time you check out at gamestop. I prefer physical copies to buying them from the online store still because games take up so much storage, and switching discs is quicker than reinstalling a game
And while we're dropning useless info, the EB in EB Games stands for Electronics Boutique.
>Think gamestop is jewy so go to mom and pop store
>they're even jewier
ahah yes 400 dollars for final fantasy 7 sign me up
Its not an “if they shut down” its “when”. Vidya retail has evolved and gamestop is the past. Theyre gonna die to the digital future sadly. Their refusal to innovate their model has doomed them.
I love it honestly. The workers at my local store are somewhat friendly and I get a bunch of used stuff there. Literally no other store matches it in the used market
Not the first time it's happened either. It happened when I went to buy Nier Automata at around 2pm. My town has a population of about 18,000 people so I'm not sure if that has an effect.
>Gamestop's retarded pre-order scheme
There is no scheme. That store didn't order enough copies. There are plenty of times that I preordered a game, and the store only had 1 or 2 other copies that were not preorders.
>preorder from fucking EBgames
>go in about lunchtime, they actually sold my copy and told me I had to wait a week for more copies to arrive
>didn't get an apology or in store credit or anything
>buy online instead from then on
>games almost always arrive the day before street date and are somehow cheaper as well
I can't wait for brick and motar stores to die, the future is now old man.
you forgot
>take home game
>game downloads the rest of the game that isnt on the disc which is like 50 gigabytes if youre lucky
It's not a game anymore, it's a collectible item. If you want to play FF7, you can play it on like 20 different consoles.
The gamestop closest to me is especially bad when it comes to that nerd merchandise. 99% of the customers that go there are black dudes who only buy sports games and anime games.
So you've got literally hundreds of western toys and comic book related merch just rotting away in the store, meanwhile Jamal and Tyrone are discussing their favorite girl from danganronpa and whatever other shit I've overheard.
They don't do all that, they get fired or reprimanded, I bet.
>Once the used market goes, it's over
Why do people think gamestop "is the used games market"?
There are plenty of black market websites were people can buy and sell games directly with other anons instead of having to go through scumbag overpricing middlemen like gamestop
The main big problem is digital transactions, if everyone was to stop using cash thats were we would be fucked
This is why i only buy physical now
Don't forget to post this thread to r/gamingcirclejerk
depends on which gamestop you go to. some are pretty chill preorders since they already met their quota. others that haven't met their quota go full on annoying shill mode as they're desperate to meet their requirement to not get their hours/pay cut.
They mostly stopped doing it already in my area. For the past two years (in the scant few times I passed by one to check if they had anything noteworthy in a bargain bin), they only asked if I had one of their power cards but never asked if I wanted one nor went through their usual pitch. They seem to be fully prepared for the decline and would rather sell whatever they can instead of pissing people off.
Same shit here. They all like Genocider and Junko.
My local comic shop is fucking garbage and ran by a literal autist, one shouty wannabe aggressive kinds and I stopped going after back to back bad experiences most notably having to wait while the owner got into an actual fucking argument over magic the gathering and yelled at a customer over their deck preference and card prices or some shit and another where he fucking sperged and started yelling because I tried to buy two of the same comic
>SIR IT'S ONE PER CUSTOMER
>oh sorry didn't know
>WE DON'T ALLOW MULTIPLES HERE
>okay I'm putting it back on the shelf
>WE NEVER ALLOW MULTIPLES
>okay I understand
>ONLY ONE
>yes I get it I was picking one up for someone else I put it back I only have the one now
>WELL THEY'LL HAVE TO COME IN PERSONALLY WHAT ARE THEY TOO GOOD TO WALK IN HERE THEMSELVES
>can I just check out now
>TELL THEM OUR HOURS I'LL SELL IT TO THEM
>okay can you sell this one too me now
>IN THE FUTURE DON'T WASTE MY TIME TRYING TO BUY MULTIPLES
>look man I put it back can we just fucking check out now
>DO NOT SWEAR IN MY STORE
I just left the comic on the counter and walked out after that and never went back dude ran to the door and started yelling for me to come back but I just kept walking, no idea how the fucking place is still open
>why do people think the games market is the games market
>when there's a black market for it
gee user, no idea.
That mostly managers pushing employees, not corporate. My local gamestop only brings up pre orders if they notice it's a game I would like, and the don't ask again if I say no. The one thing they do ask every time is if I would like a warranty on my used games, but they only ask it once.
Just pirate it lol. All you need is a few CDs and a modchip.
You do know how to solder, right user?
>used market goes
There's literally a countless number of stores online that sell used games, even amazon does and often cheaper than gamestop
sounds just like the retro game store we used to have here
>everything he doesn't have is 'crazy rare'
>has large amount of shit on display that's not for sale
>never smiled once
>every customer was an annoyance
>just destroy all the used games and used systems if no other company will buy their inventory
But they already did that, did you forget about all the older 5th gen consoles and games they got rid of?
man, what a Yea Forumsck
What do you guys think the brick and mortar retail landscape will be in 10 years? I truly believe all specialty stores will mostly be dead with nothing but Target and Walmart standing upon the corpses of every other business.
GameStop isn't the used games market. There will always be used games as long as games are sold physical even with one less shitty retail chain being associated with it. eBay/Amazon/playntrade/indie stores etc will still exist. Hell even Best buy and Wal-Mart sell used.
GameStop aren't necessary by any means for a used games market.
Kek if you invest in a brick-and-mortar vidya store you're fucking retarded
I bought puts before yesterday's close but I was afraid to go all in. My bad.
Fucked. Good luck to the generation coming up.
Don't worry they'll remove a game section and expand their funkopop shit.
I wonder if the gamestop near me's trying to implode, it seems every month they have more employee's there. There's this one ultra qt, but, yeah nothin to be done about that.
If I was a gamestop CEO, I would gradually close stores, selling the properties if I can, and simply exit the market. Because I've made my millions already, and don't need the business to remain.
if you're not a superstore like walmart or target and you don't have an easily accessible online storefront then you're dead.
Shockingly, company that sells data on colorful plastic lost to the ones just selling data.
They are like a bootleg ToysRUs
They don't have more, they keep firing and hiring. Turnover at Gamestop is absolutely insane.
Those qts can usually hang on to the job a little bit longer since nerds think she'll fuck em for pre-orders and gamer cards, but even the qts fall eventually.
If he just treated people like annoyances that would be fine, he would actually go to full on sperg yelling though, I have no idea why anyone goes there it's not like it was just me like I said I saw him do it to other customers as well it's clearly a known thing he does, I'm guessing if it wasn't for the fact that he has a decent location in a college town (the campus' tabletop club shills his shop heavily) where he can draw people in for friday night magic and the weekend d&d he'd be out of business
I would visit Gamestop more if they sold retro shit in-store instead of online only.
Eh, digital market exists, it'll never be as severe as you think. Nintendo CONSTANTLY resells classics and I'm sure the Sony stores got a line up of their own.
Unironically fucked. Retail is dying.
But then that's less physical space for I'M SUCH A NERD XD garbage.
Makes sense, that one girl in specific is the only one I've seen stand the test of time. I check out the place for no particular reason every other month or so and she'll be there along with a new set of nerds.
zoomers buy all their shit digital/online now. retail is dead.
>I heard EB is still alive and independent in canada though
Everything you guys say about gamestop in the US is 100% also describing all the EB games stores I've been in here in canada.
Just imagine all of the boomers crying into their coffee this morning.
>BUT CNN TOLD ME THE VIDEO GAME MARKET WAS AT AN ALL-TIME HIGH
Can confirm, I got fired for low pre owned sales when our district was the lowest in the area and our store did the worst. I had worked like tuesday friday saturday on a week with a big release, was just selling the new game the entire time.
I had also seen people fired for low replacement plans, preorders, or cards. Company is absolutely terrible to work for. I don't spend any money there ever since I got fired.
Reminds me of a guy in my hometown.
>friend starts working for him, sorting Magic cards etc. so he can start making a little bit of cash
>owner repeatedly cheats him out of money to the point where friend has to hold up the entire storefront until the manager agrees to pay him what he's owed
>abused customers by telling them they were bad or looked "like a complete faggot"
>constantly gave his advice on their decklists (pro tip: his homebrews were awful)
>weighed like 400 lbs and smelled like mold
>kept a box of actual original Alpha and Beta cards in a cardboard box under the microwave just behind the storefront and showed this to my friend on a number of occasions
It all got worse when he started trying to compete with the good card shop in town and courting regulars from that store instead, which backfired because no one wanted to go to his store

What's wrong with zerohedge?
>crying into their coffee this morning.
Fuck, dunno why this made me laugh as hard as it did, but thanks.
Have you been to Best Buy and Wal Mart’s Video game section? It’s literally shit no matter how old they charge full price
I've shifted to buying everything but groceries and emergency items online, hopefully sometime in the future walmart starts some sort of decent delivery service and I can cut actually visiting their physical store out as well
>it's the "I pretend I don't own any funkos for badass internet cred" episode
Yikes.
The mall in my area used to have a fuckmassive FYE. It was a large size space that could fit maybe 3-4 smaller stores. Rows upon rows of CDs. Lots of niche shit like obscure foreign death metal bands. Now the FYE is relegated to a much smaller space, there's one row of actual music CDs and the rest is like Funko Pop and shit. The change happened within the last decade. You kinda expect it to happen with the rise of piracy and digital music stores like iTunes, but you really don't get how much the landscape has changed until you walking into that small ass fye. Netflix is probably in the process of doing the same for home release of movies, making them obsolete. Books are still a toss up, I don't know if e-books are going to be popular enough to replace physical books in the near future.
Damn gamestop really need to rise up
In my area a lot of the small shops are closing and the plazas are all just becoming hole in the wall restaurants between the few big name stores left.
rip
walmart has a thing now on their app where you can order groceries and it's already ready for you at the front to pick up.
they sound like cunts. i wont be buying anything from them again
When that's decided, there are CEOs and management companies specialized in liquidation
>Gamers rise up and tell GS to fuck up
>GS loses hundreds of millions of dollars
So this... is the power... of gamers...
>All those spots that are just empty lots to be rented out
>For months
It's kinda sad honestly
the only mom and pop shops I see surviving are restaurants. dedicated shops for products are dead now that online shopping has better deals and you don't even have to leave your house.
The only think shops have over online is getting it that day as opposed to waiting for delivery. If amazon ever mastered same day delivery retail shops are fucking finished.
the old KB toys became a shitty burrito version of subway. That one was real sad to see. There was one manager who was super into dragon ball and he would import the movies and play them with subtitles. When TV was only on like android saga he was showing the first few episodes from GT on repeat. I loved that place.
I think they also got me into Harvest Moon by suggesting the ps1 one.
I miss the PS1 bargain bin that used to be at the front of the store.
>black market websites
Nigga wtf. I just use ebay.
I want the video game industry as a whole to crash and take the SJW plague down with it
What deals? Online nothing is on sale
amazon already offers same day delivery/pickup if they have the product in a local amazon warehouse near you.
Go to a comic convention some time the vendor section these days is half funko pop stalls competing with each other
>Books are still a toss up
Most book chains are out of business now, the only major one around is Barnes and Noble and they're changing their business recently too and started dividing into sections, most have board games and generic gifts section and then various that sell merch for popular series like harry potter and star wars, I've even seen a couple of them with a small ghibli section
preowned sales for starters. gamestop wants $150 for a used vita, tabao has them for $70
I've been wanting this since like 2010 and it wasn't even this bad. Take the movie and music industry with it as well.
I used to be happy about those shitty stores getting fucked but after the absolute Jewry of digital stores the past 5 years I prefer how things were with physical stores...
>Buying games
good goy
FF7 is like $30 on ebay
It's not gonna go the way you think lol. Same with people praying for civilization to crash.
>I've been wanting this since like 2010
same
Yeah they have that at the store near me but it's weird they have like this odd hexagon thing that you scan your app to and it spins your stuff around to you and unlocks but it seems like it's not working every single time I go up there and that someone is having to call customer service to get their stuff, so until delivery is an option I'll just go get my own stuff
What do you think will happen? That they stop trying to force out everything they dislike because this one industry went belly up?
/r/foundthemobileuser
Will piracy be the only means of preserving media in the future? Sounds dystopian as fuck.
gamestop wont die it will just become a shitty hot topic for funkpop and graphic tees
i want SJWs to be homeless
/r/woooosh
t. pro funko collector
It'll all come crashing down soon enough user
Bruh its been that way for decades now. Nobody would even know Chu Teng exists because the creator didnt have a copy himself until someone found a copy and sent the cd dump of it to him in 2013.
Think of all the other games that without being dumped simply wouldnt have proof for existing. Most are trash but still.
user these people are delusional thread has literally nothing to do with SJWs and they still feel a need to turn the thread into one about them it's paranoia at this point
with the way games are becoming "services", piracy probably won't even help. once the servers for those games shut down then they become unplayable unless someone reverse engineers a private server. not all games get this luxary, example it's currently impossible to play tabula rasa because nobody made a private server.
i unironically had a gamestop tell me they "have run out of preorders"
>pre-owned video game business
When I still used to go to my local Gamestop years ago it was almost solely to buy used old gen games and old accessories, but then they scrapped selling anything older than current gen to make room for shelves of Funko Pops and other overpriced merchandise nobody seems to buy.
>tfw if gamestop in goes belly up the non shite game chain(GAME) in your country might close
I don't wanna shop at cex
My gamestop had some really inept people working there who created some really interesting moments.
>Go to Gamestop to pick of DoA4 when it was released and decide to pick up the Hori arcade stick that was released alongside it
>Manager who was working the register would not take no for an answer when asked if I wanted to pay 15 for a year of their rewards card
>tells me "honestly buying our rewards card makes more sense than purchasing an arcade stick that only works with one game."
>after the 20th no he finally relents and tells me I'm making a bad decision and really losing out after ringing me out
Then there was the time I preordered Beautiful Katamari and the cashier laughed when I picked it up telling me I was the only one to preorder this stupid game. I think I've shopped there maybe 3 times this past decade.
Literally who buys Funkos here?
I’m in my 30s and I’ve never been to a gamestop in my life. I stopped going to stores to by video games when they were still called electronics boutique, and I’ve been buying games exclusively online since the early 2000s, and now mostly digital. I don’t understand who would want to go to a store to buy a physical copy of a piece of software in 2019.
>go to gamestop
>get a copy of AC For Answer
>pay with credit card
>the cashier wasn't annoying as hell this time around
>get in car
>check the receipt
>they charged me $20 for a 12 month subscription of gameinformer
>walk back into the store
>get the subscription cancelled and my money back
>never went to gamestop again ever since
vultures
yes they have a limited amount of preorder slots for certain things mainly new consoles and collectors editions
it was a standard mass release game
They probably saw the twitter screencap OP and were disappointed that it wasn't actually political.
It's awful how petty GS employees are once you push back against their aggressive sales tactics. They can go fuck themselves. Unless I want a game literally right now, I will buy it online just so I don't have to deal with some snotty faggot trying to sell me a stupid card or insurance plan.
I was in a similar situation at a Gamestop a few years ago where I was trying to pick up a new copy of Tales of Graces F and they were trying to sell me the used one. Took me like 6 No's before the sale finally went through. What really stood out for me is that at the end the clerk said "are you really sure you know what you want?" I just felt insulted as a customer at that point and never went there again.
to me gamestop is cancerous but at the same time needed. digital only is shit. when consoles become digital only, I'm giving up consoles. I'm not paying $60+ for a game that can only be played for one generation.
Yes and? It's not like they ship out an unlimited number to each store they're portioned out they're not going to accept pre orders for games they're not going to have
Based cashier, get your shit together(if you still can) homo.
i could not read this without thinking of the store owner sounding like pic related
oh yeah some gamestop employees are fucking scum and tack on extra warranty or bonuses if you aren't paying attention. it happened to me once where they put game warranty on my gravity rush 2 copy even though I declined the cashier's offer TWICE. this was a deliberate act too since they have to manually add the information to the computer, it's not a fully automatic process.
>the challenge facing our pre-owned video game business
>pre-owned
God just fucking die already you vultures
>Make business revolving entirely around buying old games for pennies and selling them for near full price
>Somehow totally fuck that up
Maybe if every store wasn't absolutely disgusting.
Maybe if every store didn't have people trying to sell you other shit more than once when buying the game
Maybe if they took care of the games they sold as used so they weren't dingy and disgusting as fuck
Maybe if they had an online store that doesn't look like it was created in 2007
European here. Due to the migration crisis stores are bustling again. A lot of these "refugees" don't like/know how to order shit online.
I want every journo and game dev starving and homeless tbqh
This, sadly.
My local go to mom and pop is usually amazing price wise for new and retro, but I’ve been to too many shit ones.
Like no, you 40 year old neck beard, I’m not paying you 200 dollars for a Sega Genesis model 1
What does that have to do with the thread?
bullshit, people don't even go out anymore because of them.
The only stores that are bustling are BMW dealerships and their rape victim meat stands
starve
every mom and pop game store I been too over the fuck charges on nintendo products like it's a premium apple product
>no more gamestop exclusive dlc bonuses or pokemon events
Thank fucking god
I had a similar retard LCS owner and it made me really happy to see that he had to move his store into one half the size. It looks like a fucking Yea Forumstard's basement with shit just randomly on plastic tables. Hopefully its out of business now because it was overpriced as fuck (to which he would gleefully say ITS NOT OVERPRICED IF PEOPLE ARE WILLING TO BUY IT)
I quit after my hours got reduced to less than 5 a week because I wasn’t selling any of the fucking credit cards that never fucking lasted.
Stupid shit, I was 18 at the time, and only had just gotten my first real CC, how the fuck was I supposed to sell a Gamestop exclusive CC to suburban mothers and have them take me seriously?
>went to local shop 2-3 years ago
>literally charging $60 for used ps3 and xbox 360 games that were available for half that price for direct download or online
>not corporate
Nah, its all corporate,
The mall in my hometown is fucking dying a slow death, its actually depressing as fuck. I swear that 1/3 of the stores are empty inside.
literally all the small shops in my area are dead or shutting down except for the chinese/mexican food restaurants and some niche beauty stores.
Jesus, do they get told by their superiors to do this?
Just hold your breath and hope there isnt a queue lad
No, but they are pressured by quotas if they want to keep their job or not have their hours cut. Some desperate employees will try to fuck over customers just to try to save themselves
This is the dumbest falseflag I've ever seen.
Unless you're a Germ, in which case get fucked.
In my hometown the business in center is dying, but shopping centers outside the town are doing fine. They are more convenient for people with cars than bothering to drive all the way to the center of the town with little chance of free parking.
You will all miss it when retail copies disappear
Problem isnt digital. Fact is I can find a new copy of most games online cheaper than Id find used copies in shops.
And nothing of value will be lost.
Go away biz i dont need to buy high and sell lower
exactly
i just pre-order FE three houses on amazon for £39.99 here and if i want to do it on GAME (gamestops UK equivalent) it's £49.99.
how the fuck do the justify the price difference? it seems like it's just pure greed at this point and i can't wait for those fucks to shut down.
Why doesn't GameStop do a used game rental service? I recall they used to have something like this and it was profitable but they discontinued it for some reason?
I'm quite sure corporations won't allow that anymore, you can't rent microtransactions and live services.
Japan will be fine. The West will be fucked.
This is why I don’t think digital only is the future. The console guys know that if they go full digital they literally serve no purpose anymore, everybody would just get a PC. Nintendo is the only exception here.
>live services.
What a fucking joke it is for single player games...
Does anyone have any positive experiences with GameStop? Seems like they're universally hated
I know one guy did at the very least, from that one girl in the restroom, y'all know
No.
My most recent experience:
>me: hey I'm looking for a controller that works on PC
>gamestop employee: try this one it's the one I use all the time it's plug n play
>me: go home and plug
>doesn't play
fuck gamesetop
>me: hey I'm looking for a controller that works on PC
No one in their right mind would go into a fucking gamestop for this. What the fuck is wrong with you?
I took that disc, they had them out on display and I figured they were free. Dobson is retarded for asking
He's referencing Dobson
what do you mean, user?
Anyone going short on Gamestop? Seems like a safe bet.
Gamestop has some really good deals on Xbox controllers and they work on PC.
>Buy GAMEstock for $17
>try to trade it in today
>that will be $8 in store credit or $6 cash
Fucking gamestop
if this was really gamestop, it would be $2 store credit and 50 cents cash value
>go to gamestop
>go looking for OoT 3D on release date
>ask if they have it
>"no man it's a game that was released in very limited quantities, should've pre ordered it, our preorder policy is the industry standard, better luck next time."
>go to fucking Walmart
>they have more than 10 copies
Fuck that place
>no tax on profit
My lord is that legal?
I will make it legal
>Go to ebgames
>Girl worker starts telling me about the usual preorder, edge card, and used game stuff.
>Goes on for over a minute
>After she says "By the way I like your shirt"
>"T-thanks"
Not going back there again.
