This, I just said to myself "Wow that doesn't look bad."

That's only for the campaign the multiplayer runs on a different engine I think but you can also just play original halo 2 multiplayer in the mcc collection.

343 artsyle is so shit. Took them almost a decade to realize and swith back.

>No fucking atmosphere on the halo ring sky
>Brutalist machine buildings are now glowy cybershit
>Claylike stone mounds that gave the feeling of a terraformed world replaced with generic unclimbable boulders

Top is objectively shit

No it doesn't. Why the fuck is it in outer space instead of a grounded foggy area?

Everything you just said is retarded
>No fucking atmosphere on the halo ring sky
Neither does bottom
>Brutalist machine buildings are now glowy cybershit
What do you expect on a fucking artificial planet created by extremely advanced alien tech
>Claylike stone mounds that gave the feeling of a terraformed world replaced with generic unclimbable boulders
I don't even know what to say to this because it is so fucking retarded. I honestly hope you're just pretending to have down syndrome

Nigger it's on a halo. Yeah they took away the dusty weather but everything else looks fine.

would you believe it if i told you the halo games take place on halo?

theyre both the same thing, one is just higher poly and has less fog to obscure how shitty it looks.

Retarded boomer. Zooms will inherit the Earth.

Both of you are cringe for using that retarded reddit meme anyway

OP has actual non meme autism.

But NOT its mineral rights.

does changing to the old graphics in halo1/2 anniversary editions work on multiplayer maps?

They're different takes, but I prefer bottom. Bottom is moody. It evokes a sense of desolation and bleakness. An abandoned station drifting in a sea of clouds.

Top looks like dubstep visualized, which is on par with all 343i designs. They always remove the grunge and personality of older aesthetics.

How fucking stupid are you?

Skyboxes/scenery has always been great in the halo games.

Glad 343 kept that tradition.

I never played Halo past ODST. Were there any Marathon references of note since then?

I just don't understand what devs nowdays have against color. Why does everything need to have a muted palette?

based

it's not nearly as muted as you think it is, it's just that they keep adding this atmospheric filter meant to simulate how farther away objects start to turn the color of the sky and way overtune it

idk about 343 halo games (probably not) but,

"List of references to Marathon in the Destiny series

The Fate of All Fools gets its name from the phrase, "the just fate of fools," which the AI Durandal carves into a planet's surface in Latin after destroying Tycho..
Fusion rifles operate on a similar principle to the Zeus fusion pistol.
A patrol mission that can be obtained in areas where the Fallen roam is named "Low-Flying Defense Drones". "Beware of Low-Flying Defense Drones" is the name of a Marathon campaign level.
Manus Celer Dei is the name of the ship Durandal used to return to Earth in the second game. It also happens to be a player ship in Destiny.
The Almighty bears a striking conceptual resemblance to the Trih Xeem in which the pfhor empire uses as a last resort to quell revolts of subjugated races by igniting early supernovas.
The MIDA Mini-Tool lore tab appears to both reference and expand upon Marathons backstory. The MIDA-Mini-Tool lore tab features a first person narrative that references Battleroids and reveals that Bernard Strauss was able to salvage an ancient A.I construct from a ship that crashed on Mars. Additionally the name MIDA itself is likely a reference to the MIDA revolutionary government that temporarily occupied Mars."

wayyyyy back when activision documents came into public eye during the infinity ward fiasco it was found that in bungies contract with them they were allowed to spend 5% of their budget and manpower on early early stages of a marathon reboot but idk if still happening

If I wanted to look at washed out colors covered in haze I'd just look out my window. Piss or shit filter applied too, depending on the season
>t. SoCal

& halo reach

"Rare, yellow-armored Sangheili Rangers encountered in the game are referred to as "BOBs" in Bungie.net game stats. BOBs are a type of human allies in the Marathon series.
At the beginning of the credits, it says "We'll see you starside." This quote comes from BOBs in Marathon 2: Durandal.
The Marathon logo appears in the turret of the Wraiths.
The Marathon logo is in the map Reflection.
The Marathon logo is spotted several times in the level Nightfall.
In Nightfall, the title of a chapter is "Let Sleeping Dogs Lie..." The quote is used in Marathon, but is actually from Pathways Into Darkness. The full quote is "Let sleeping dogs lie, let sleeping gods die."
Several challenges are quotes from Marathon, such as "House of Pain," referring to a Marathon 2 : Durandal Netmap.
The Marathon logo is visible in the small of the Elite's back. It is illuminated by a small, randomly colored glow.
In the city of New Alexandria, there is a building called Traxus Tower, referencing Traxus IV from the Marathon series."

You wanna know what is soulful? The Halo 2 anniversary Cutscenes. Jesus fucking christ those were good.

>pre-rendered hardcoded cutscenes

halo has an atmosphere

Soul isn't always about low production or shit like that, it's the amount of work you have with the tools you are given. What Blur studios did with every tiny little detail is nothing short of amazing.

just because you CAN fill the screen with lens flares, particle effects, needless details, fog/mist effects and textures more detailed than real life, doesn't mean you OUGHT TO. When will zoomers understand that all such decorations have little to no value? Quite the opposite:, they effectively hinder one's vision

I dont care. Zero reason for prerendered cutscenes outside of special circumstances like a 2d top down rpg whose ingame graphics are more representational than actual.

100% takes me out of the experience to completely change the visuals for the cutscenes. Flashy shit like that with no creative integrity will never be soul. Also miranda and johnson look ugly af FUCK 343

I get where you are coming from but I don't agree with it. While in engine cutscenes have a great charm to them, I don't mind if companies splurge a little for cinematic... cinematics. I agree about Miranda but not Johnson. Johnson looks fine. What really stood out to me was Arbiter and the Gravemind. Actually anything that wasn't human was really done well.

I understand now. This user helped me to see. I'm not meming. 343 forgot something important that I never realized but that had been coloring my perception of halo this whole time. Halo is a post apocalypse. So post that it doesn't fit the genre anymore but by being set on halo and the ark, ruins of an apocalyptic event, it brings back the feelings and tone of a post apocalypse. Thats where that desolate feeling comes from and 343 doesn't have that feeling despite being more connected with the in universe past.

Lol

343 is fucking shit, Halo 4+5 were fucking shit except forge mode in 5, that was alright., Halo 1 anniversary was actual shit, but not everything under them was all crap. There are some gems, ironically those gems came from external sources.

The only reason it was "grunge" was because the tech couldn't do what they wanted. They were limited by it. Halo is a fucking sci-fi universe with insanely advanced tech like ring worlds, pocket dimensions, and cyber suits that can't be used by anyone but genetically augmented humans. Top is at the very least extremely close to what bungie would have done had they had the tech to do it.

Halo Wars has the best Spartans, how the fuck did Ensemble understand the aesthetic better than 343i?

Attached: Wallpaper_halo_wars_08_2560x1600-cuting.jpg (1271x1526, 530K)

Are 343i going to redeem themselves with Halo Infinite?

Attached: a5776e2.jpg (1280x720, 94K)

These look bretty good desu. All the writers at 343 are hacks and halo should've stopped at reach with maybe only book releases in the future but they at least have some good environmental/lighting artists.

Attached: 1542217397267.gif (512x393, 403K)

Yes they were limited by tech but saying the remaster is what they would have done is pure speculation and a useless meaningless thing to say in this argument. They very well might have made the same lonely ass map with higher res textures and lighting if they could. We dont know the answer to that.

Why is it beyond the atmosphere? Original is clearly still within the atmosphere, so there was no reason to make the skybox look like that.

Chief's VA is the quintessential boomer.
youtube.com/watch?v=TpKhQioh5W4

Considering they've basically confirmed a retcon, fuck no

>actually liking that shit
Genuinely abhorrent taste

No its not. Look at the aesthetic they went with in Destiny, as similarly sci-fi game that was clearly born out of Halo.

Can someone edit this into a QoH tattoo? Thanks.

I'm now imagining Chief as a late middle aged everyday guy living in his simple suburban town, in his simple suburban home, with an aged Cortana wife.

But they DID do it, again. They had the tech with Halo 3 and demonstrated that the world of Halo is still grunge-y.

When on Halos or other Forerunner worlds, it's always been about exploring dilapidated and forgotten ruins. And on Earth, humans are a scrappy bunch, hiding away in worn down bases. Remember Tsavo Highway or Rats Nest? Or even the Ark? Even at its most Sci Fi, Halo was always still pretty grounded.

Attached: Tsavo_Highway_zpsddd4128f.png (1000x500, 899K)

>chief's chili

That's a different franchise. We don't know how they would have done it. You're making a guess, and guesses dont matter.

Why does the 343 games look so foggy/misty?

I wonder how long it will take until some autist re-creates the halo 2 anniversary cutscenes with in-game models.

Funny you should say that, there's classic cutscene data in the game but they look half finished.

I'm quite surprised how good some of that looks.

Says the faggot who uses "cringe" as an adjective. I mean you're not even wrong but fuck you all the same.

The blur cutscenes are simply a novelty. They're okay for your first playthrough because it's a new and shiny toy but then you start to notice imperfections. Bungie's stuff was simple and effective. They really should have had a third option of classic in engine stuff but anniversary models.

There are people who unironically defend anything 343i has ever done? (including books, apps, animated shorts, all their games, and any and all misc. stuff)

Well, I guess people were born after Bungie's departure and are old enough to post here. I just find it hard to believe that there is ANY genuine good sentiment towards any possible aspect of 343i.

Attached: 1523640197469.png (836x863, 91K)

I've never had any respect nor admiration for halo, so I don't feel any soulful nostalgia towards the way it looks.

Halo Legends was good overall and that was 343 era.

Yeah but give anything to the japs and they can make it entertaining.

I agree with you on Miranda, but Johnson looks awesome.

Why did Blur make her old and ugly?

Its really fucked up how long reach is taking to come in to beta on PC.

it will take years for all the games

Is it true that the beta will come in april and all the games will be released within the year?

Disagree.
All but one of the shorts suffered a severe case of canon-breakin', so it wasn't a good product as an extension to the halo universe.
The same amount of shorts wasn't even impressively animated, the polar opposite of the Animatrix.

Lackluster release with 1 salvageable short, and if I need to tell you which I'd go into a spiral of depression for humanity's tastes.

something something bonnie ross thought she was too sexy before probably

same reason they covered Cortana up

Attached: MirandaKeyes.jpg (512x288, 35K)

No, because the game is fucking vaporware.

doesnt anniversary let you switch between the original and remaster anytime you want?

Only campaign. H2A and H2 Classic MP are in separate playlists.

>extremely meh animation and story
>good overall
it was literally only for fans, and even among those it is considerably unpopular for the above reasons + dubious canonicity.

But 343 stated that Cortana is canonically naked and the only reason she wears clothes in Halo 5 is because she's the villain. They also gave female Spartans jiggle physics on their asses and made Linda hot without her helmet, this was most likely a Blur decision.

>the only reason she wears clothes in Halo 5 is because she's the villain

strange reasoning. idk how being a villian and deciding to finally put on some clothes after all that time relate...

Funnily enough I just finished a complete playthrough of H2A on heroic for the first time in like 2 years, so as a 2fag lemmie give you my take on the remake.,

Firstly, the redone audio effects are all almost universally faithful and improvements, and what aren't is more an issue of subjectivity then it inherently being worse or unfaithful, and are all SUPER minor, autistic shit, like the "thunk" sound when the beam rifle's magazine rotates not being as satisying.

The music is a bit more of a mixed bag. The vast majority of the tracks sound very faithful, and most also are improvements, retaining the flair and tone of marty';s original OST while giving it a bit more oomph and a higher audio fidelity. THat being said, there's a non-negiable amount of tracks that have some parts of them not quite right in a way that matters: For example, in "Infected" (youtu.be/V0UbgssyJdc?t=525, the sub-track that plays when you re-ascend through the gas mine after cuting the cables in The Oracle), the "whining"/string esque beat that oicks in 40 seconds in that makes it sound creepy is a lot less domiaint in the aniversary track: youtu.be/p1s6RbEa54E?t=4532 ; but while this sort of thing does happen here and there it's still like only 1 in 10 tracks or less.

The visuals are, overally, pretty damn faithful, in some places a little too faithful (would have rather the elites and grunts had different armor odels per rank like reach/CEA/etc, for instance), but most of the time it basically 1:1 takes the original visuals of a room or scene and updates the models and textures just with better ones and better lighting, vs in CEA where they often were a lot more liberal with things (IE the detailing/lights, etc on forerunner stuff being almost totally changed, wheras in H2A the specic petterns and such will be kept). The tone is also generally kept, but due to H2A using real lighting unlike in 2 sometimes areas are lighter or darker then they were in the original...

I unironically love 343 Halo's artstyle even though it flies in the face of the Aliens/Starship Troopers style that Bungie was going for

Attached: Helioskrill.png (4096x2304, 2.34M)

Too shiny. Looks a toy.

Not that user, but every time people bitch about this I can;t fathom how stupid people are: It's a fucking mock up render from CG software, it doesn't actually look that shiny in game.

Don't worry, after Chief is done with her, that bitch is taking off those clothes again.

This

Then why fucking post it when talking about liking the artstyle?
>man I really like X, here's an image completely unrelated to what I like

But they still do look that pristine and vibrant, even if they don't look like glossed up dolls. Almost no wear or signs of battle damage.

Attached: OwTtbHf.jpg (1236x1024, 618K)

Cont:

That being said, while the models, textures and tone will match, not-rarely the color pallete might not: a room that might be cool instead might use warm colors, etc. Most of the time this is done, as with the lighting changes, to be more realistic but there's sometimes arbitrary changes. Pic related is a more innocuous example of this, but there's also cases such as in the forerunner ruins in uprising where all throughout the ruins there's a consistent gray to tan-color and mood to the rooms, but then in 2A some rooms have blueish lighting

It's also not uncommon for some of the skyboxes to be a little off. The example people post of the lake on regret/delta halo where the original version has more going on with the colors interplay in the clouds and sky with bits of purple, for instance. I think that this can be mostly chalked up to bungie using more painterly, stylistic skyboxes in 2 and the remake is going more for realism, but I think that they could have tried to replicate these a bit more. But there's also just as many skyboxes that look fine or better in the remade visuals

The last thing that happens with regularity that could have been done better is that while H2A does make a faithful update to the specific detailoing, lights, and such in foretrunner surfaces unlike in H2A, the actual "material" is noticably different in some spots: looking less metallic and more matte and being a lot "cleaner". To an extent this is expected since 2 was using way worse textures in an unrealistic, almost 90's pre-rendered CG sort of way, and it's just not possible to 100% replicate the feel and look of those aeshetics while also updating them since they were a product of their time, even if it arguably does lend itself to the atmosphere in a few places; but for what i'm talking about in particular they could have done a better job since in plenty of other spots the forerunner metal material does look more faithful

2/3 need one more post I guess

Attached: halo-mcc-halo-2-old-new-comparison-4 2.jpg (1920x2160, 617K)

BROWNAN BLOOMAN

Good thing you can switch the graphics , sound effects and everything regarding the aesthetics with a single press of a button.

Holy fuck this may be the first time I play halo since 2006, that top looks fucking incredible.

I can tell you as an autistic Halofag that Bloodline is unironically better than every other variant of Blood Gulch that has existed.

Vehicle mobility isn't hindered by the new scenery additions, while at the same time those new rocks and bunkers drastically increase the survivability of those stuck on foot while sniper rounds and Warthogs whizz all over the place.

Attached: 1553712168261.jpg (2048x2048, 1.39M)

top is too busy
ruins the map atmosphere

Looks good though. I do admit I prefer the forerunner structures though.

same.
top is just great.
you might actually have autism if you think a couple of rocks make it busy

cont:

I wanna be clear here that while i'm bringing up some complaints, these are NOT prevasive: The sound effects being off happens like for less then 1% of the SFX's and is just me being autistic for some of them. Most of the remade music, i'd say like 70%-80% sounds good or better, almost all of the new lighting is how the game would look if made today and makes more sense, and while the color pallete is off a decent amount of the time (maybe 30% to 40%), most of the time it's like the image in or in pic related and isn't an issue at all, and even when it is somewhat arbitrary it's almost never actually detrimental to the intended mood or tone, just sort of wierd they didn't do it right, etc.

In sort, i'm nitpicking here. Halo 2 Anniversary's redone campaign is great, and is much more faithful then CEA was. If you REALLY dig the particular aesthetic of the original game brought about by the hardware atr the time in terms of how textures looked and how lighting works, then yeah, it';ll look off in places, then there might be areas you dislike

For the MP maps (the MP in H2A is it's own thing in it's own engine) which is , ; etc, there's more of a completely distinct visual stye. IMO it looks great, the skyboxes are gorgous, and basically combines the few good elements of 343's environmental visual design in terms of like mood, color palletes, etc with more classic halo aeshetics; but it's still undeiably different looking, but in a good way and ditll clearly remaking the original maps and models, with some models, like the SMG, actually being more faithful then the campaign ones

3/3

Attached: halo_2_recreation.jpg (1920x2160, 982K)

I'll also say that I have a few other random nitpicks, if people wanna hear them: Such as some of the first person models for guns are fucky due to the weapon redesigns not matching the originals so the players hands aren't holding them right, such as when MC is holding the fuel rod gun

Another is that the elite armor is a bit more hunchbacked and the helmet extends further back, which makes it seem like their necks are justting out in a super straight line and it looks pretty wierd. In general I think the H2A elites get way too much credit and don't actually look that good for the most part, though there's deinftelyt elements of them that look great, I just think people focus on those elements too much and miss the bigger picture, and vis versa for, say, 343i elites, which actually are a pretty faithful update to original Halo CE and 2 elite proportions, without the hunch and a bit more muscle, but everybody can;t look past their shit animations and dumb armor and think the anatomy itself is bad when it's not.

CE is so limited by it's hardware it almost doesn't even feel fair to say it has a specific art direction. Hell some of CE's concept art matches CEA more then CE itself. I also think that "art direction" is a little too broad. 343's visual style for specific factions like the UNSC sucks, but their lighting, mood, atmospherics, etc is top notch, for example; which is why H2A's MP, which has the latter set but not the former, looks so good.

The problem with doing in engine cutscenes is that the new models using the old animation looked suiper fucking jank in CE. Judging by it's not nearly as jank looking for H2a, but it still looks really off, especially for the elite's head/neck movements and animation (again, as I was saying earlier)

I wonder if there's updated textures/models for the gravemind from this.

It is messier. Not to even mention that blues stand out less on H2A Ascension, whereas blues and reds stand out equally in Classic.

The natural evolution to H2 classic art style was Halo 3.

Attached: 0jlfxz6rktb11.jpg (1920x1080, 263K)

For reference, Narrows is an example of natural evolution on H2 forerunner structure style.

Attached: 53wi8DQ.jpg (1920x1080, 874K)

H2A MP is top tier to play, my favorite Halo MP by far, beating out Halo 2 and Halo 5 which share second place.

I wish they were willing to mness with the weapon balance a bit more, though: Make AR starts a thing since the AR exists, make the SMG, PLasma rifle way different from the original Halo 2 so they are worth using, etc. I might try to make posts on waypoint and plebbit now that it's getting a PC port to see if they can look into that

Miranda in H2 looks way closer to how she does in H2A then how she does in 3, she looks way different in 3

>grouping in H2 and H3 helmet even though they have different proportions

>The natural evolution to H2 classic art style was Halo 3.

I agree, but I think you are missing the fact that there's been a clear move of making forerunner stuff increasingly shiny, more detailed and with more lights and tron shit since CE

2/3 both added it abit over CE's forerunner stuff, Wars/Reach went even further, and then 343i's forerunner stuff is pretty much the natural conclusion in that direction.

Jesus fucking christ. This is the ugliest shit i've ever seen. Can 343 get anything fucking right? I know Blur made the cut-scenes; but they got the Green Light from the autists at 343.

The fucking worst. Is every single shit eating cuck defending this. I'm reading up on posts from the Halo Forum or whatever name it's got. And fuck me people really loving eating up rancid putrid shit and genuinely get angry when other people point out she looks like a 50 wrinkled jew. She looks like a fucking pig in makeup with that whoreish lipstick on.

Fuck 343.

I'll defend... most of the H2A's cutscenes and models but Miranda is dogshit.

Kek @these other retards getting baited

That's just the thing. Everything about H2A seems absolutely amazing and stunning. I can see the genuine love and effort put into it. Everyone looks great, the Chief, Johnson, the Arbiter and Tartarus. It's SO spot on.
But with what they've done with Miranda Keyes is so fucking bizarre. Who thought it would be a good idea to have a 40 year old jewish woman with arthritis be running and jumping around deactivating a halo ring.

I don't want her to look like a bimbo slut or a fucking old wrinkled frail and decrepit old cunt either. Just make her look like Keyes, just like Johnson.

The only reason i'm genuinely upset about this, is because you can't fix this with mods. It's impossible to re-do the cut-scenes. it may be possible for a god to fix her in game model or just replace it outright. I'd prefer that, but the cut-scenes are very much permanent. This is our new Miranda.

Shut up, autist that replies to everyone in threads while writing long ass essays, no one cares what you think, Blur made her ugly when she was pretty in Halo 2 and Halo 3 naturally evolved her.

H2A wasn't 343 you stupid nigger

I'm not fond of 343 as the average Halo fan, but I have to admit that Halo 4 was impressive from a technical standpoint.

I don't know what black wizard sorcery they did to get graphics that impressive on the aging Xbox 360, but it almost looks like an Xbone game.

I want to go back...

I loathe the art direction, but yeah it was impressive.

It's impressive and interesting to watch if you have spare time. Halo 4, Metal Gear Solid: GZ & 5, Crysis 3 and Destiny are impressive how they ran on such limited hardware with the 360

>NEW THING BAD, OLD THING GOOD
All of these look fine, autist-chan

Why the fuck would they alter those mancannon's like that? That is so shit on the bottom pic.

The world was Smells like teen spirit????

These threads are retarded. I just hope all of you are Larping. Sweet fuck. It always Muh soul threads and console circlejerking. We need a quarantine board for you fags.

HA-HAA

The original was a mountaintop in the clouds and the remake is a rock floating in space. You can prefer the latter but pretending it's the same thing with a graphics upgrade is just retarded.

Of the games you mentioned Halo 4 is the one with the best performance. Solid 30fps at 720p, the other games you mentioned barely struggle to keep 30fps at sub 720p most of the time.

>The game should be a 100% faithful update of the original EXCEPT when I want it to

They have to be the most lucky studio going, currently working on their 9th Halo title, the only good one they ever made was a simple 1 to 1 remake of the first Halo from Bungie.

Everything 343 have ever tried has failed, SAD.

H2a multiplayer is trash and nothing like the real halo 2. It feels more like halo 4 modified to halo 2 settings than true halo 2. The gameplay has no depth whatsoever. It should have been like the campaign where the gameplay was identical with new graphics laid over the top. All this shitty, arcadey 'anniversary' edition did was split the community even more.

343 is fucking atrocious, and if their mcc port is fucked, should be put down. That being said, H2A actually looks really good, and most of the soundtrack is pretty damn good too, despite some songs being weaker than their predecessors.

I wish people universally agreed Halo CE was the best Halo for campaign. The levels might have been repeated and lack the details of later games but they were the most open ended and fun imo even with the more limited weapon sandbox and enemy variety. Halo Reach seemed like it was going to go more in that direction but then it didn't really. Having more open levels does not mean that the level design itself even encouraged that sort of gameplay. It was just wide open killing fields with not much going for it unlike the best Halo CE levels. To be honest, to me the H1 levels were the most iconic while H2 and H3 had the most iconic multiplayer of the franchise.

Without glitches Halo 2 can never be played again in its true form

tfw you will never again sit up all night playing middy ffa recording with your dazzle 90 trying to get sick clips to upload to mythica.org

user that's the biggest fucking pile of bullshit i've ever heard. I have like 3000 fucking hours in Halo 2 mutliplayer on the original xbox, H2A plays extremely similarly, though obviously with some differences: The movement and aiming is a bit tighter, there's a few new weapons in the sandbox, which generally improves weapon balance (though the BR is still king, of course). The only vaugely Halo 4 esque changes are the hit markers and grenade indicators, which really aren't that big a deal.,

You are full of shit, and anybody with half a braincell can tell since you can easily go load up classic Halo 2 and the H2A MP and see how similarly they actually play. Either GTFO or actually verbalize legitmate complaints without being a hyperbolic retard

Superbouncing not being as do-able in MCC is really sad, but BXR and doubelshotting can go fuck itself, even without those the BR is the undisputed king of the H2 sandbox by a fucking mile, with those glitches in play it makes the CE magnum look like the Halo 3 magnum.

I feel the exact opposite, CE had the weakest campaign of thebungie games because of the repetitive levels and limited weapon and enemy sandbox, as you say, but also because the """more open ended""" areas are really just huge, empty-ass fields and because they are so barren and empty there's no depth or variety in how you approach them, since there's no geometry allowing ffor different aprproaches to be different.

>Everything 343 have ever tried has failed, SAD.

That's not quite true. Yes, they fuck up a lot, but there's been a number of things they've done well

Halo 4:
>The live action commercial
>The sense of atmosphere and environmental design in general
>The skyboxes
>The lighting and shaders, generally looks good on a technical level even if the UNSC art design is trashed
>the soundtrack, even if it's not marty level
>The Storm rifle
>The redesign for the Carbine, Plasma Pistol, and Beam rifle
>The introduction of the Prometheans/didact in the campaign, the moment when you get out of the cave in mission 2
>Regicide
>The scoreboard changes

Halo 5:
>The weapon balance (TU made it worse but it's still better then most of the series)
>The ARG
>Getting rid of 4's loadouts, perks, killstreaks, etc
>Return to even starts with weapons and powerups on map
>Brings back the golden triangle of guns, melee, and nades with no equipment or armor abilities
>new movement options add a ton of skilljumps
>The Trials music
>The ambient dialog in the campaign
>Blue team/Argent moon
>Free DLC
>Everything relating to forge
>Everything relating to customs
>like seriously holy fuck forge and custom potential is insane
>Seat swapping
>Health visibility
>Shield recharge indicator

EU stuff:
>Halo evolutions
>Bits of Legends
>Cryptum
>Primordium
>Silentium
>Half of Glasslands and Thursday War
>Broken Circle
>Last Light
>Fractures
>Mythos
>Warfleet
>A bunch of other books/comics that are apparently good but I haven't read yet

Other
>CEA's sound design
>H2A in general
>Working with/allowing some fangames/fanmods, such as sins of the prophets
>The community feedback program and their degree of community interaction
>MCC update initiative is super through, but this is negated by MCC being broke to begin with
>MCC's PC port, at least it seems that way so far

Granted, for each 1 of these things they fuck up like 2 other things

It's not even close to similar. The game literally is modified halo 4, 343 even admitted this in interviews. Everything about it is off, aiming is completely different, bullet registration is completely different, melees are completely different. There is not a single mechanic that feels the same. And on top of that the maps are different and so are things like the spawn system. It's essentially a new game that is visually inspired by halo 2 and that's it. I have probably played more halo 2 than nearly anyone in the world, nearly every day from 2004 to when the servers where shut down, then the pc version and now MCC. And this isn't just my opinion look on any halo forum and everyone will tell you the same thing.

>comparing a forge map to an official one

Ragnarok is not a forge map

Most people in this thread think it looks good to great, a few probably don't, and a lot realize how easy it is to bait people by calling it soulless with no argument

Please take your 500 word essays back to your social studies class

ensemble probably worked closely with Bungie artists. 343 had to expand and "modernize" the setting without the safety net of the veteran artists slapping their hands away from the drawing pad when they were doing something stupid. Also 343 is not really a studio, it's the result of Microsoft throwing a ridiculus ammount of money at a bunch of devs from various studios to keep the franchise alive

ohnonono my fog

All of the H2A remakes look great what are you on about

doesn't matter who remasters it, the shit-tier gameplay won't get any better

Its going to be a major shift in campaign structure, so who fucking knows. I really don't want to see an open world with missions that take place in both the open world and then switching to corridors later with junk side missions to do on the way.
