I have mild respect for GBF because the designs are actually good and they are breaking out into other games which have the potential to be good, but, regardless, the original game is still shit. All gacha trash is shit on the base level; my pointing out of mental illness - most overt in the FGO community - is intentional to highlight the largest issues. But, fundamentally - and, indeed, most importantly - the games all suck. They are bad games first and foremost. It is the waifuisms - not necessarily a bad thing in and of themselves - that draw people to these garbage bin titles.

However, FGO has been TYPE-MOON's main project for many years, as they've put aside everything else in favor for it, and they are already making plans for another mobage. For all intents and purposes it is their primary project at this point, and will likely remain so in the foreseeable future. In the wake of FGO there have been a few games that they have made thereafter that, at the very least, had the same characters (if not precisely the same universe) and they have all been awful (and very cheaply made). In-fact, TM have only been involved with one good game and it's Melty Blood, which is quite old.

I played Azur Lane pretty hard for a while probably last December through January this year. I think I only bought a $1 and $5 starter pack because I was playing pretty consistently in my free time and inbetween other games.
Definitely did more in FEH but I lost interest after a bit, FGO didn't do it for me, Girls Frontline was too "complex" since I like to leave these things on autopilot when possible.
I'd estimate over like 3-4 years of playing gacha shit I've dropped $50 total which I'm perfectly fine with since I save all my other money and am fairly frugal/cheap with everything else. Never got the point of paying out the ass for stuff, then again I don't go hard for PvP modes, I just like collecting .pngs for free when I can.

I play Epic Seven and it's a cool game. Every 3* hero is completely viable for single player content, sometimes even optimal, premium currency is distributed at a very generous rate, limited units have a pity timer that guarantees the drop if you have 1 month worth of f2p currency (really easy to get), we get frequent updates, the game is pretty to look at and I'm invested in the simple but effective story and characters.
The only thing I'd complain about is the molagora system but they recently cut the requirements by 30% which is a very significant improvement, and given their track record I expect them to start giving us more molas by summer.
One bad thing I can say about the game is that it has the worst community of complaining piss babies I have ever fucking seen.
The movies fund themselves, they sell really well. They don't need gacha money to stand.
The fact of the matter is that the only thing that gacha money is funding is the over inflated salaries of executives that don't really contribute shit. FGO is incredibly stingy in the way it handles its art and content, it's relying on a rotating system of underpaid guest artists and half of them can't draw for shit, but it's cheap so who fucking cares right ?

I tried a few gacha games and I have to say GBF was the best but it did nothing but make me yearn to play an actual game so I ended up installing emulators on my phone instead. Hell, I've been using Prime medals since they came out as my main attacking medals because literally nothing has been better than them that I could draw
Let's also not forget that you have to get Scrooges which can only be gained either from them being super generous and allowing the medals you draw to come with them, avatar boards that cost as much as a draw that give you a whole one of them with a Max skill and a defense skill (Which you already have 30 of), or ranking high enough in the Coliseum to get one or two copies of that month's which isn't guaranteed to be a Max one which basically makes it worthless.
Let's also not forget that the new challenges are made with buffing your defense with a Demyx [+] that has EA and DBVM or higher in mind, but now that they realized people do that they started putting in turn limits so only whales can beat most events.

We have them in the west, the thing is that here they're quarter machines and you just get small keychains or stickers at most while in Japan a single roll is ￥100 to ￥400 which is roughly $1 to $4 and you get stuff you'd find in Kinder Surprises all the way up to cheaper versions of roleplaying toys from Kamen Rider and Super Sentai.
The west also has blind bags which are roughly the same concept but cost astronomically more, I've seen Keyblade blind bags that are $12 for a keychain, Disney regularly sells stuff like Steamboat Willy ones for $8, there's Splatoon ones for the weapons that go for $8, Animal Crossing keychains for $5, etc.
