In Xenoblade 1 the Zohar was completely absent because until late in development, Xenoblade wasn't even supposed to be a Xeno- game, just "Monado: Beginning of the World". In Xenoblade 2 however Takahashi decided to go full Xeno and retrospectively fit the Zohar as the origin point of Ether energy, the energy that Klaus/Zanza used to shape the world in Xenoblade 1, and redid the cutscene where he destroyed the world to include it
