Honestly I think AA has pretty much exhausted its current roster of character. I am pretty sick and tired of edgy backstories. I'm absolutely not opposed to adding new ones, because Capcom has proved that they can still make entertaining characters like Blackquill, who is one of the sole redeeming qualities of the 3DS games. Of course, Phoenix and Edgeworth should still be around, but they need to stop retreading shit, hopefully the ending of SOJ means that they have written Apollo off and won't be focusing on him anymore, freeing up some space for potential new, better characters.

No way they’d introduce new player characters when Apollo and Athena exist, if anything they’d just start focusing on them more. I’d rather have a proper AA4 though, basically a timeline where phoenix doesn’t lose his badge

Maya is the original quirky sidekick in AA. Her personaly bounces well with Nick's and her commentaries are often random but in a good way. On the cases she tends to bring common sense to the table, which balances well with Wright's out of the box approaches since the player isn't gonna be batshit insane like him.

I thought it was decent but just that.

I will take that over "let me not shut the fuck up about my stupid gimmick that I am only using once or twice during a case" like Kay and Ema.

It would be easier to just make a game that takes place in the past, no need to retcon anything other than the mistake that was Ema's existence.

It doesn’t matter if no one believes Maya, she should still channel the victim for Phoenix so he can know the killer, murder weapon, time of death, etc. He wouldn’t have to tell anyone, the info would just be to help his investigation.

I know it’s a game and they just needed a reason to not give you the answers so easily, but it’s still funny.

To be fair, channelling people has been show to be a mixed bag and there is no guarantee that they will be cooperating (yes, revenge is a thing but AA cases are never so simple). I would love if they played with perception though, like Maya channeling the victim who is sure that person X did the crime, Nick realizes that the evidence shows otherwise and they need to work alongside the victim who turned out to be wrong and just understood things wrong.
