Your relationship with the bachelor has to be at least in the 2 hearts range for them to accept, you have to basically gift them a loves gift every week twice, which during the first spring might be very difficult depending on the bachelor/bachelerette. I think the easiest might be Leah considering she loves lots of dumb shit you can just harvest in cindersap forest or you could just buy her 2 salads a week from gus at 240G (Salad is her favorite food)

You can get a date on the first one. The only requirement is to have 2 hearts with one of the girls.
It is just hard for new players to do that by the time the first festival comes around because most people aren't focused on doing that in the early stages of the games, since everyone would rather focus on the farming and exploring.
To get 2 hearts by the time of the first festival knows finding out what the girl likes and actively working on giving her gifts every week.
It is good design, actually.

Most people spend that first half of the year focusing entirely on work, and when a social activity comes around they realize the consequences of being a social recluse that spends his whole day farming, then you start paying a bit of attention to that now that your farm is more stable and productive and get a date for the second one since you have more time and resources.

You have to have four hearts to get them to dance with you. It's only possible to get that many hearts before the dance with Haley and Shane, due to the fact they have birthdays prior to the dance.

So this is another pointless waifu sim that gets mods for porn

There are some cool ones, like being able to color code the chests, better organizer, a catalog with more information when you scroll over.

Stardew is the best game for that then. A lot of the events are skippable and if you leave the villagers alone they're not going to be buddy buddy with you. With Harvest Moon and Rune Factory everyone's obsessed with you and there's way too much unskippable dialogue. I was playing Trio of Towns and there was literally an hour of handholding unskippable tutorial.
