>commits multiple war crimes
>happy ending she's good now and guilt free :)
Commits multiple war crimes
war crimes against other humans?
She is basically Leo from FF6 but he died
Oh so like r63 Nelson Mandela, got it.
Spoilers pls.
But she's hot, so it's fine.
why are war criminals so sexy tho
Ok fine she committed some atrocities
desu sounds like my kind of woman
Exactly who do you want to assign to bring her in? Steiner? She's the most powerful single warrior on Terra. Your entire team wipes to her TWICE. Who do you expect to reign her in? When she changes sides, Zidane and co are just happy they're not getting slaughtered today, holy shit.
It's ok. She was just being deceived, right? It's not like she really wanted to commit murder, right?
Beatrix is literally mai waifu and the fact that she's not in Dissidia is a serious crime.
Hot girls can do whatever they want
who did she kill
Warcrimes as a concept only really exists in our modern, wierd society.
Any other time period and you'd be considered an idiot for not exterminating your enemies as efficiently as possible during war.
Except medieval nobles I guess, you collect those to ransom back to their parents.
Or chinese generals, you capture them and slap bitches and money in their face until they join your side.
But the farmer recruits? You poison them, burn them, fry them, fling them forward as arrow fodders, chop them up for more medals.
yeah, instead you should just kill your sovereign whenever they command something you don't like.
ratfuckers need to be nuked
why does Celes have a potato-face?
artist has a potato face style, I dunno
Rule of all Japanese games/stories: If they are physically attractive they will someday be an ally to the heroes or be totally exonerated.
I'd say Crow from Cold Steel is way worse
?
Just buncha rats
>Physically attractive
>glasses
Literal disability is a turnoff to normal people you freak.
Do you actually play games?
Or just hang around to mouth off on forums?
Did she really though? Most of the damage was done by Kuja and the black mages. Beatrix was just there for small strikes to steal shit or protect the queen.
I'm pretty sure it's far more common that they fucking die for sadpoints
FF9 best FF. Prove me wrong
Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey.
She's in France now.
rats aren't people, silly
In all seriousness there aren't any scene in the game of her fighting/killing Cleyrans/Burmecians except for Freya, and the worst she does is disable her.
you are right
You have to assume she only killed combatants of an enemy nation. She didn't blow up Cleyra.
Oh. So nobody. No worries.
she wears them for style
"Disable" is putting it harshly, Freya was fine afterwards.
She doesn't need them and doesn't wear them at all later in the game. She wears them to look less threatening; she's manipulative.
all sides commit war crimes.
the only time you charge someone for a war crime, is if they were on the side that lost.
You only wipe to her due to plot armor.
Nah she was doing it for the throne.
Accomplice for setting up a nuke.
>lowest selling mainline PSX FF game
in b4 IT'S FF8's FAULT
Now this is a criminally under-/misused character.
>Accomplice for setting up a nuke
so you agree that Beatrix isn't the main perpetrator of a genocide?
Your mom is a criminally misused character
Annoyed me how she was just killed off by pope faggot in FF13.
tell me about it
There are people here who jerk off to the morbidly obese. By comparison, glasses aren't that bad.
>generic anime blonde bitch #345345
>underused
>m-muh dick
>*fap**fap**fap*
7 I think was more ambitious, 9 was great but 7 I think had the perfect feeling of size and scale for their towns. Only thing missing were roads on the world map, which I'll just blame on hardware limitations or some shit
The only thing I liked from FF9
think you quoted the wrong person my guy lol
>She's the most powerful single warrior on Terra.
Gaia. Terra was the planet Garland was from.
whoops
why isnt she getting a fkn medal then ?
No one but faggots of the highest order played that. The original rule still applies but only for males, obviously.
That's not attractive and certainly not conventionally so. That's not a "safe" character and is obviously a monster.
Honestly, the fact that everyone is cool with Alexandria by the end is baffling.
I will say that I hated Beatrix beating the shit out of the party three times with no chance for you to actually beat her, though.
FFXIII was a neat game by and in itself, the sequels make it look stupid in retrospect
Pretty sure the party could bring her in at the end if they wanted to considering they managed to defeat Kuja.
>make statement
>statement gets proven wrong
>FAGGOT
every time
>Brahne deletes Cleyra from existence, killing men, women, and children
>Beatrix takes issue
>but only with the fact that she has to take a backseat to black mages and Eidolons
Don't bully anthro characters for the sins of furries.
That's what happens when you turncoat and join the winning side. I can't think of a single instance in history where an enemy that might've done terrible things defected and then was punished for what they did prior to doing so. I think even a group like Unit 731 went unpunished after they gave their research to the US after the war.
All they have to do is add an extra sidequest for Freya the ends with a 1v1 fight vs Beatrix that she can win. That's literally it. Doesn't even need to die, just give her a bit of comeuppance, give Freya some resolution and give the player the satisfaction of a legit fight against her. But sadly even in a remake I doubt that'd happen because she was Lightning before Lightning was a thing. I bet the only reason she didn't join your party was because it would mean making her able to die.
Leo didn't really do anything to anyone though, and you never fight him.
All high ranking officers want the glory of wasting their enemy themselves.
Why'd you react instead of reading the whole post, faggot?
>not liking Raita's skinny monster torpedo tit women
gay
>Beatrix makes a plan to cause a commotion and then steal the jewel while everyone's distracted
>Alexandrian troops attack but run away the moment they get hit
>against Beatrix's wishes black mages invade as well and clearly attack/kill Cleyrans
it's almost as if the devs wanted to make a distinction between what Alexandrian personnel were doing compared to the black mages and Beatrix's plan/Alexandrian soldiers actions were reinforcing that distinction as well.
Kuja had a planetary spell in hand, aka he could kill you at any time. Kuja chose to job.
because it's funnier to call someone out for going UGH FAGGOTS
Sizer did nothing wrong!
I bet Beatrix was canonically considered stronger than Kuja according to the devs.
Look, man, I understand what you're saying. Beatrix doesn't kill the party even after fighting them three times. Beatrix grabs the gem and leaves without killing anyone. I totally get it.
But I'm pointing out that the narrative, while it does have that going for it, doesn't have Beatrix musing to herself that Brahne has gone too far until she wants to kill Garnet for lulz. Even after she blows up a defenseless settlement that barely had any defenses.
combat takes forever to load in and characters take forever to cast spells with inconsistent inputs
>combat takes forever to load
Holy shit this. Fuck those minute long intros.
the character customization is dull and linear as fuck. the battles are slow to load and equally slow to complete. kuja is a shit-tier, forgettable villain.
Gets abducted by demons. Mother is stuck in a crystal. Got tricked to believe her mother hated her. Forced to kill humans and stains her wings blood red ever since childhood. Loses her arm. Gets her soul taken. Her soulless body gets corrupted with a demon's soul, then it goes on a massacre. Loses her best friend and caretaker. Despite joining the heroes, she is still treated as an enemy general by the humans until the final battle. Gets killed by her demon dad.
Poor girl suffered a lot and deserved lots of hugs.
In general I think IX has a weak cast outside of Zidane, Steiner and Vivi.I'll give Garnet that she has more going as a character compared to Tifa and Rinoa but that isn't saying much. The rest of the player characters are either dropped too fast for the sake of hanging around or just hang around in general. Kuja is actually sorta ok but not great, while Garland isn't around enough, Brahn is bland and Beatrix is a mary sue. Oh and the final boss is a literal who. And outside of that, none of the secondary characters are memorable.
Try playing past the first disc.
Beatrix is a soldier first and foremost, her desire was to become Alexandria's blade and propel it to glory. It's easy to see why Beatrix would have minor doubts about conquest but be perturbed enough to switch sides when it came to her liege killing off her own daughter/the nation's princess.
At least the story had a good ending.
Near perfect manga. Top 3 of all time for me. More people need to read it.
Same. Glad I was able to finish it a while back ever since finding it 20 years ago. All thanks to a weeb couple putting out translations of it way back then.
You can see it that way. Alexandria never really lost. Instead they changed the ruler. All she did was follow orders just like any other soilder im alexandria. The real genocidal shit was done by the mages and brahne. Since no other country claimed alexandria there was nobody really to punish her other than dagger who needed her as a cappable commamder. Also she clearly wasn't ok with brahns actions.
>Disobeys orders during seed exam
>Unironically mommy issues
>Takes president hostage on live TV
>Unites with sorcerer as sorcerer knight to subjugate the free world
>Attacks his previous place of residence killing and maiming many
>Cooperates in almost destroying Esther and many of its citizens
>Totally exonerated during the ending
I like it too but it has flaws, mostly to do with how slow the game is in comparison to 7, 10 and the super nintendo games. Which FF you prefer just varies with mood and what you're looking for, the 4 everyone mentions are all great in their own ways. I really loved X up until the last hour or so before it became incredibly grindy doing all the extra shit.
It's ok because you get to kick his ass repeatedly, while Beatrix gets to be the strongest character in the game who is untouchable.
he dindu nothin was just mind controlled he wasn't a bad boy was goin to church drawing holy getting his life together
What do you think of X's cast?
He was put in front of a military tribunal and was sentenced to spend the rest of his life fishing, a fate worse than death.
To be fair it could be argued that he was brainwashed by Sorceress Edea since he initially confronts her but then simply complies without her saying much.
I'm sad you never get a proper boss fight against her and just fights were you're forced to lose. I don't mind too much when I'm forced to lose for Story reasons but you should always get a chance for revenge later in the game.
Her arc is the exact same as Steiner's is. Had Beatrix been the one who joined you at the start (and had the Knights of Pluto been marginally more competent), Steiner's path would have been the same where he would have helped slay the rats under the Queens orders.
Theyre both a heroic and high ranking soldier who believes they are on the good side and following the orders to protect her people by slaying evil races, but then receives a sharp wake up call that makes them go "fuck, I'm working for the bad guys".
Steiners is when he is arrested. Beatrix's is when she realises Garnet will be executed.
Steiner was already being willfully disobedient from moment one. Unless he could concoct a way to look at his orders as being honorable, he just straight up wouldn't do it. His arc wasn't about learning to disobey, but learning not to delude himself.
>none of the secondary characters are memorable
Blank didn't sacrifice himself for this treatment...
The only thing that decides "justice" in this world is which end of the sword you're facing and who gets to hold it.
might makes right
sorry you had to learn this way user.
BUT... power is also an illusion and can come from many many MANY unexpected places
You sound like a Dark Individual. Intelligent, Nihilistic and with a Wicked Sense of Humor.
>kuja is a shit-tier, forgettable villain.
False.
Based and justicepilled.
>his motivation to be a villain was watching the shitty movie Laguna did for quick cash
Fuck, that would've tied in nicely to my comment. Forgot that plot point.
SOMEONE NEEDS TO STOP THIS WAR CRIMINAL *RIGHT NOW*
She really just needs to get her ass kicked real good, but since she's canonically the most powerful character in-universe that didn't happen.
Ever wonder who was strong enough to take her eye? Do you think it was Fratley?
Their conflicts are the same but the arcs are different precisely because one joins Zidane and the other one doesn´t. She endures and suffers the weight of her loyalty in silence while Steiner learns that to do the right thing one must think by oneself and act on conviction.
People will answer ironically, but is he wrong?
Difference is that if Beatrix joined instead of Steiner every battle would be over in 5 seconds.
>Do you think it was Fratley?
Pretty interesting theory. Could have been a brutal battle that led to his amnesia.
There is but one real war crime, and that is losing the war.
I mean Freya´s arc remained forever unfinished (or scrapped) and in one (if not the only) flashback Fratley mentions her and even journeys to become stronger. It would make sense that he found her and for whatever reason (pride, honor? maybe he discovered something) ended up challenging her... but we will never know. (hopefully. I don´t want SE touching this game)
>comparing Leo to fucking bitch face
Leo was in favor of not KILLING monster and manage to get a treaty, until the Jester came and fuck things up. Fuck you for comparing an actual honorable human being to a bitch face like Beatrix
She literally lead the force against Lindblum, in which a summon ate half of the Lindblum's force, the other half being burn to death by Mage army.
Yeah Leo as I recall tried to end battles with as little bloodshed as possible, while Beatrix would actively taunt her opponents. If anything Beatrix needed to legit lose a fight for once just to bring down her huge ego a bit.
>Also she clearly wasn't ok with brahns actions.
Wrong, she okay as hell with the war and stuff. All she actually care if if the queen notice her action. If there anything she wasn't okay, it how the queen doesn't notice her killing while the queen use her summons and mage army to kill things for her. And no, Beatrix and her army did kill a bunch of soldier and take pride on it.
>going to church drawing holy
kekd
Not him but that just make her and her queen a mass murderer. There no war if one side isn't even defending themselves. Its both an invasion and a massacre. For fuck sake, this is the same shit Cecil had to deal with and realize how fucking terrible is was and spend half of his journey seeking redemption.
Yeah but Cecil is a male who is supposed to be seen as flawed.
>Beatrix is never shown killing anyone
>She also never calls for anyone to be killed
>Disables Zidane's party 3 TIMES instead of killing them when it would make infinitely more sense to kill a bunch of people constantly getting in your way
>She literally lead the force against Lindblum, in which a summon ate half of the Lindblum's force, the other half being burn to death by Mage army
-citation needed-
>killing the players would end the game and the story
>I did not play the game and rush the story
Beatrix waifushitter are the worst, they cannot think without their dicks.
The first two times she just doesn't care because she considers them beneath her. She's kinda arrogant since she's the strongest person in the FF9 universe. Last time is because Garnet appeals to her fear that Brahn doesn't care about her anymore. And she also actively leads a massacre and taunts them about it.
The Mist in FF9, as a plot point, incenses people to conflict and war. It also gives rise to dangerous monsters. Soulcage and possibly another being were feeding on the negative emotions / memories brought about by the horrors of war. In addition, there was a multi-nation huge ass war before the start of the game. She is a general and follows orders, and we have no idea how fucked up that war couldve been. Additionally, she kept telling burmecians to stand down before theyd attack her in defense of her home. She wanted to use intimidation into surrender, but then Brahne used the Black Mages to fucking murder everyone.
After the whole shit with the Black Mages, Beatrix begins to questions the Queens methods and why she couldnt be trusted to secure the crystal. She isnt into genocide. She never even attempts to kill your party.
delete this
Do you even know the history of Gaia? Burmecia, Alexandria and Lindblum had been at war with each other for decades until Lindblum blew everyone the fuck out with airships. And once again no one is saying Brahne is innocent but the game keeps mentioning how much she changed once she started working with Kuja. Beatrix didn't start a war and decide to genocide a whole race, it was Brahne while being influenced by Kuja. As for Beatrix see
>kills LITERALLY hundreds of people
>gets an asspull happy ending because “boohoo I was raped by worms”
And now she has more clones in FGO than Saber does. What the FUCK do wormfags see in her?
Good job ignoring all the other shit mentioning how Beatrix is never shown fighting/killing Cleyrans/Burmecians when she's in those respective places. The devs aren't trying to make you accept a murderer on your side/into your party which is why they put things in place to separate her from people getting killed.
That's why you have to cut off their penises and their testicles (one at a time of course) with no anesthetic. And then you can put them to the test and let's see how "strongly" they feel about their waifu. And this applies to ALL waifu faggots.
>She wanted to use intimidation into surrender,
Stop being retarded. She was a mercyless killer that insult everyone that fought against her. If anything, it entice people to fight. There are now transcript for these shit after many years of the interweb.
>BUT YOU DIDNT DIE!!!!
Because the story would have ended there, retard. Its simply that.
>Beatrix didn't start a war and decide to genocide a whole race
I'm quite aware of Brahne and how Kuja influence her, but I am not leaving the fuck out of Beatrix for all the shit she done. Branhe got rekt and kill, Kuja commited suduku when you beat him up, but Beatrix doesn't get jack shit. She get a good ending for all the atrocity she done. And no, read the comment above this.
>I did not play the game and shit
Read the fucking transcript or watch the playthrough if you didn't play the game, waifu shitter.
Is that a Mii?
You'd think that a vicious murderer wouldn't be above slaughtering a group of people constantly getting in her way. Or maybe she isn't this genocide "bitch face" like some people identify her as.
>Last time is because Garnet appeals to her fear that Brahn doesn't care about her anymore
Garnet is unconscious when the group fights Beatrix the 3rd time, Beatrix is the one who wakes her up. Y'all need to pay attention to the game more.
>And she also actively leads a massacre and taunts them about it
Which one is that?
>You'd think that a vicious murderer wouldn't be above slaughtering a group of people constantly getting in her way.
Because having her kill the player would end the game/story. There really no reason for her to let you go unless the writer says so.
What animu?
have sex
>I'm quite aware of Brahne and how Kuja influence her, but I am not leaving the fuck out of Beatrix for all the shit she done
It's funny, everyone gets mad at Beatrix for the supposed wanton slaughter of Cleyrans and Burmecians but she's never shown doing it and every chance she would have to do so this "vicious murderer" decides not to and leaves people disabled but alive. Keep living in delusional hate I guess.
>Lindblum
I've been to that city, no one in there looked human.
>Read the fucking transcript or watch the playthrough if you didn't play the game, waifu shitter.
That's what you need to do because you're convinced Beatrix is a mass murderer when there's absolutely no visual verification she killed anyone. So far the best evidence anyone can muster is that she's at places Brahne and Kuja's black mages show up and a Burmecian soldier challenges HER and gets interrupted by Zidane and crew
Naw, you're just being retarded since you don't seem to understand that killing the player would end the story. You also seem to be narrow minded to think that many user hate Beatrix for killing rats, but no, it more than that. She beat up the player 3 times, mock them each time, and there was no revenge fight. No JRPG boss, or main antagonist for that matter, has this much plot armor. And there that whole bad writing and her ending. But hey, I'm not the type of fag that delusion themselves and think with their dicks instead of logic.
I think the real reason some are mad at her is just that you never get a chance to beat her. If you could win the final fight with her then those feelings wouldn't exist as much. And I can kinda understand that since as a player it leaves a feeling that you have an enemy you can simply never defeat because the plot won't allow it.
Why not make the scenario more sensible if she's a vicious murderer and have the team fight her but get away before she can disable them? Oooor maybe the game is trying to tell you that she's actually more honorable than you think and you just aren't catching it because you're blinded by delusion.
@457087694
Except the game, the transcript, and the playthrough videos state otherwise, which everyone calling her villain, no mercy, and shit, but you seem to have your dick up your ass to not play and defend a literal mary sue, so there really no point in giving you a (you).
Or the devs are in a corner where they can't kill the party but they don't want Beatrix to lose either.
see , if Beatrix was meant to be an unscrupulous murderer then the devs wouldn't have left the fate of the party in her hands to be killed at whim. But they did and she didn't. Stop being delusional.
I was about to commit how retarded are you, but this user says it better.
Sounds like how Blizzard is gonna end Sylvanas' story arc..
Crymaria and her bf deserve bullet in the back of the head. I'm still angry.
t.minerva
What villainous actions did she accomplish onscreen? Stole a jewel without killing anyone? Called people a bunch of names and berated them? Oh the humanity.
Beatrix can easily overpower the party and the party can retreat, it's that simple. How unimaginative are you people.
I'm just saying that there was no reason for the party to lose the third fight with her. You could have won that fight and literally nothing would have changed. It's obvious that the writers had a huge boner for her.
I think it's more so that it's a forced loss as opposed to an unwinnable fight. And that you have to lower her HP to 0
Shes an asshole and cocky, and veteran ofa very recent war. That doesnt make them a murderer and they never show her or say she ever killed a ton of burmecians. Her queen did, and then she started down the path of doubt and redemption for being on the wrong team at all. Kuja is a big fuck and still almost gets a nice ending making up with Zidane as he lies dying. Zidane even wanted to save him.
@457088313
>I did not play the game.png
>nor understand command in line while invading a country that isn't even in war
Retard ganna retard.
Beatrix wouldn't let anyone retreat in war. This is just simply BAD writing in a medicore FF game.
Look i wish we got a revenge fight too. But the hateboner for her doesnt change the plot. She was never shown murdering burmecians.
ATB bar moves during attack/spells animation, making abilities like haste and slow pointless, because everyone's bar filled to maximum during single spell cast.
She did it under orders for her leader, the blame is on the queen not her.
How fucking stupid is this place, I swear to god.
There's an unlimited amount of ways to Deus Ex Machina the party's way out of getting killed by Beatrix, have Fratley, Tantalus or Cid's agents run interference, Kuja interjects or Brahne tells Beatrix she needs her elsewher and to stop wasting time on scrubs. If Beatrix is supposed to be absolutely ruthless then the writing and plot progression in FF9 is starting to look like absolute garbage because it makes absolutely no sense for her to be so bloodthirsty and just let the party off the hook because "lol wuld ruin gaem".
By the time zidane is strong enough to fucking wreck Beatrix there is no longer any reason to. All of her hate is from shitters who couldnt handle being beat and ensuing bantz
>the writers had a huge boner for her.
Exactly, so why would they make her look like an asshole if they like her so much? Guess what, they were actually trying to make her look chivalrous in the face of her having to be an antagonist initially. You just didn't catch the hints.
Except there literally no path of redemption. It just a simple, OH THE PRINCESS SAY SO, SO I'M GOOD GUY NOW. The doubt part only happen when she jealous that Branhe is spending all her time on her new Summoning Power and her Mage army. Regardless, she still follow the queen and kill many people in her name.
And stop samefagging. She was part of invading three kingdom and many people die under her watch. Saying she isn't a mass murderer is retarded. Stalin didn't kill millions of people all by himself, but he sure as hell cause it via Gulaging everyone.
Because the player dying will end the story. This is just bad writing all over the place.
Well that's what I meant but yeah the execution was bad too. It's basically the same as being forced to lose in a cutscene. Many players don't want to see their hard work somewhat undone because the game says so in an event they have no control over.
For the record, I don't hate her because she's a terrible person or anything. I just dislike that she's basically this invincible opponent that you never get a chance to beat. Unwinnable boss fights work if you can come back to defeat them later, giving the player a sense of how far they've progressed and satisfaction at overcoming something previously unwinnable. Here there's nothing but an empty feeling that there's someone forever beyond you.
Unfortunately there's absolutely no evidence of this.
>can't refute anything I said
>UR RETARDED
Great job proving me right, dipshit.
So is there just one dude that's weirdly obsessed with hating on this character or what?
>Beatrix wouldn't let anyone retreat in war
Of course she wouldn't if she's this psycopath you claim her to be, but that's not even the point. Any writer with half a brain could come up with a Deus Ex Machina to get Zidane's crew outta there, see
Did she command the black mage army.
And/or
Did she command Atomos.
Go.
>can't refute anything I said
>UR RETARDED
Great job proving me right, dipshit.
It a very big problem in the JRPG world, but Beatrix takes the cake when it comes to these kind of "Boss" fights. Its even worse when said boss got a good ending and we're suppose to forgive her. The fact that she is a Proto-type Lightning made me quit 13 early on.
No, bad writing would be making Beatrix a bloodthirsty murderer who doesn't kill people when she has the chance and clear motive. Good thing FF9's writers didn't intend for her to be that way, since she's never show killing anyone.
I put forth a statement backed by evidence that you couldn't refute. If you can't offer anything to refute what I said then you lost and were done.
Why is Beatrix characterized as bloodthirsty?
Yeah but that Steiner dick though
And I would agree with you, if the writer is actually competent. This writer seem to have a boner for Beatrix and making she she dindu nuffin category. Having your party retreat would take away of Beatrix being a dominatrix and mocking the player for fighting her. That and they had a CG movie made for the afterfight. There literally other ways to go around it, but they went with the most retarded way.
@457090167
And it make seem you didn't play the game other and rushing the story, retard.
So why didn't Beatrix just kill Kuja?
The has a bunch of tells, but no show, one of the many things that plague the story.
Stop being deluded. You're right the writing has a boner for Beatrix and that's why she's not a murderous bitch. That's why she's never shown comitting atrocities because that's NOT how the game is trying to portray her. That's why she leaves Zidane's group alive, it would be shit writing if and ONLY if she was supposed to be as bloodthirsty as people try to make her out.
>it would be shit writing if and ONLY if she was supposed to be as bloodthirsty as people try to make her out.
subverting a shallow assumption isn't the low water mark for good writing.
>still can't refute anything I said
lol, keep stalling for time while your brain struggles to come up with some kind of way to refute what I pointed out, unfortunately it's not gonna happen
I'm not even mad that she got away scott free, or that she ended up with best boy Stiner (he earned it) I'm pissed that over 4 disks and god knows how many hours you are never given a chance to kick her ass fair and square. Every boss fight with her is a mandatory loss and that's some horse shit.
Except this was in war, when she was in the front line for Branhe, and comment many times about it, like . Even if you take her out of the battlefield, her soldiers does the killing under her leadership. This is her pride and she take her pride in killing very seriously.
>I have no point so I'll make an open ended comment the other guy will have to figure out
FF9 either has sensible writing by subtly portraying a character that it likes positively or absolutely retarded writing by making a character go against one person's absolutely negative impression of said character multiple times. Which one of those sounds easier to reconcile?
HEY REMEMBER THE PLAN BEATRIX MADE TO CAUSE A COMMOTION TO DRAW ATTENTION AWAY FROM THE JEWEL SHE WAS TRYING TO STEAL SO SHE COULD RUN IN AND GRAB IT?
AND THE ALEXANDRIAN SOLDIER CONFRONTING ZIDANE'S GROUP RUNNING AWAY AFTER GETTING HIT ONCE
AND BEATRIX SUCCEEDING AND RUNNING AWAY WITH THE JEWEL WITHOUT TOUCHING ANYONE UNTIL ZIDANE AND CREW GOT COCKY AND SAID THEY'D BEAT BEATRIX'S ASS
Beatrix's plan worked and no one was getting killed until the black mages showed up. She was right to complain about the interference and it not being needed. I love how this has been repeated multiple times in this thread alone and yet people stay ignorant to this and all the other facts backing up the idea that Beatirx isn't a genocidal maniac.
Except you forgot the part she still partake in the invasion that got a warless kingdom kill, or did you forget the part she actually had her army invade the place, and you kill a few of those solders? This doesn't even count the untold things she did during her stay in Burmecia. She only bitch about it when the queen use her Summoning power and the mage army over her more and more often. But hey, pretend she didn't kill anyone, or lead her army to killing everyone, and pretend she might let you fuck her for defending her mary sueness.
she's a giant cliche, so I'll just say it's mediocre.
>Brahne asks Kuja specifically if he can do something
>SURE THING BOSS LEAVE IT TO ME BUT MAKE YOUR GUYS FIGHT TOO BECAUSE I NEED THAT FUCKING MIST TO DO MY JOB- WAIT FORGET THAT LAST PART
So Kuja and Brahne are reveling in the upcoming destruction while Beatrix talks about the sandstorm being an impedment. What a psychopath.
>dodges the question
Thanks for verifying I'm right.
>not thinking glasses are cute
cringe and visionpilled
>instead you should just kill your sovereign whenever they command something you don't like.
I'm pretty sure ordering genocide is a far cry from merely "something you don't like", Brahne.
>Except you forgot the part she still partake in the invasion that got a warless kingdom kill
You mean the one that her liege commanded her to take part of? The one that Kuja convinced Brahne to undertake? Would Beatrix have done this on her own?
>did you forget the part she actually had her army invade the place, and you kill a few of those solders?
Those soldiers run away if you hit them once without killing them. You know it's almost as if BEATRIX had a PLAN that involved making a DISTRACTION to get everyone away from the JEWEL she was trying to STEAL.
>This doesn't even count the untold things she did during her stay in Burmecia
lol you mean all the speculation of what she did? For the last time post some fucking PROOF of her atrocities instead of "she must have"s
>She only bitch about it when the queen use her Summoning power and the mage army over her more and more often
They wreren't needed, at least for what went down in Cleyra, see >But hey, pretend she didn't kill anyone
don't need to because she's never shown doing so. People who believe she committed genocide though, they'll play pretend all day with their assumptions.
>and pretend she might let you fuck her for defending her mary sueness
I'd rather jack off to that than be upset over a delusion that a fictional character genocided a race of rodent people, I can't imagine what kind of life someone like the latter leads
>hurrr, it's not her fault because she didn't actually shed the blood directly
(You)
So why are we blaming Beatrix and not Kuja or Brahne? Seems a simple point of logic, Kuja doesn't influence Brahne, Brahne doesn't command Beatrix, Beatrix doesn't stand around calling people names, stealing jewels or disabling Zidane's group and letting them live even though they're constantly in the way of completing the tasks that Brahne wants done because Kuja made her think that's what she wants.
Except loads of people blame all three.
Not him but it's because the game makes you job to Beatrix three times, while Brahn can't really fight at all and Kuja practically kills himself. No one liked Nadine in Uncharted 4 for the same reason, but she isn't hot.
But enough about Uncharted 4
Got bored in Disk 2 and never saw her story beyond her introduction.
Yeah, and they're all retards. The chain of events starts with Kuja and ends with Beatrix but Beatrix is never even shown to kill anyone because as even Beatrix detractors have said THE GAME FAVORS HER. This is why she is never shown doing anything more despicable than stealing a jewel rather than slaughtering a whole bunch of people to obtain it and fighting Zidane's crew when they challenge her.
>Not him but it's because the game makes you job to Beatrix three times
Pretty sure no one has ever tried to dispute that, at the very least I never would. The problem here is the assumption that Beatrix carried out genocide when she is never shown to do it and it's obvious that the game, despite her initially being an antagonist, keeps her from doing anything more dubious than the things listed in
>just because she didn't get shown killing, means she never killed at all, and totally absolves her of any responsibility despite being the leader of the soldiers who did kill
Sure, keep telling yourself that.
And by the same token those who believe she did have no proof at all. On the other hand there's many examples of Beatrix refusing to kill people and taking alternative actions to killing (i.e. Cleyra which I've mentioned at least 5 times now), not to mention the Beatrix detractors own admission that the game clearly favors her. None of this has been refuted in any manner while trying to establish Beatrix as a cold blooded killer.
so you're saying because we the viewer don't directly see her killing anybody on screen she didn't kill anybody in cold blood ever?
Of course not, but in light of all the evidence that goes against that, there's also the fact that we never see it and that the game itself does not want to make her look bad. That's why the aggressive assumption that she HAD TO HAVE killed people is absurd. Put forth compelling evidence that either refutes her sparing people's lives and taking actions that avoid violent conflict or something that irrefutably showcases her murdering someone. If you can't then remain BTFO forever.
she boasts she killed a hundred knights single-handedly, so I think it's definitely within the realm of possibility
A giant majority of her life is spent during peacetime so that boast may actually be just a boast
1772
Beatrix is born in April.
Lindblum and Alexandria begin diplomatic relations. The wars that have been plaguing the continent for hundreds of years cease due to Lindblum's air power.
finalfantasy.fandom.com
So yeah, another ho-hum assumption.
Beatrix holds command over the regular Alexandria Army, which is the occupation force that is never shown doing anything beyond normal wartime activities.
The real shady nonsense is pulled off by the Black Mages, which answer only to Zorn and Thorn.
And nukes are all Brahne directly using Garnet's eidolons.
I don't remember seeing a single Alexandrian soldier in Burmecia for Beatrix to command, and she seemed to be there more in the capacity of being the bodyguard of Alexandria's sovereign. If Burmecian soldiers tried attacking Brahne I suppose she would have cut them down, but she's not exactly running around murdering innocent children with glee. Killing enemy soldiers in combat is not a war crime, even if the war is not a just one.
so you're just disregarding what she says because it disagrees with your headcanon. it's certainly possible to kill people during any time period, and it even makes her out to be more cold blooded if what she says is true.
I don't see a precedent for her lying about her abilities/accomplishments either.
So let us say she did kill 100 men single handedly. Does context not matter? Could they have been a mercenary band hired to kill Brahne/Garnet/Beatrix herself? Is that the same as claiming she was a genocidal maniac who massacred Burmecia and Cleyra?
Once again I'm telling you to bring forth compelling, irrefutable evidence that backs up these claims, not Beatrix boasting about beating a hundred people we have no context about.
>it's totally fine to kill loads of people because you were ordered to
Yeah. That's how the military works. If all those people happen to be able-bodied enemy combatants, facing you in combat, and you kill every single one of them, yes, that's generally deemed acceptable by society as a whole except for more hardcore pacifists who oppose such things at any level.
Again, the war is not goddamn just at all, and it is wrong for Beatrix to be obeying Brahne's orders and sending her troops to occupy territory that would rather be left to its own devices, but that's her flaw, and it shows how she differs from Steiner in that Steiner has no power and is a laughingstock but still chooses to do the right thing eventually, meanwhile Beatrix has all the power and respect but still puts her sense of duty over justice. The game should have emphasized that, too, and have it be Steiner the one to slam her down in Alexandria Castle when they save Garnet, not Zidane.
there you go up trying to make up headcanon to excuse her.
We know she killed them (zero precedence for her lying about her accomplishments or being deceitful), and we know she boasted about it. She seems pretty proud of killing a lot of people. Sounds like you're going to have to start producing evidence against her being a killer since the game itself is supporting my side.
Do you retards even know the difference between killing and murdering? Stop shitting up the thread and go pick a dictionary. A soldier kills, a psychopath murders.
And there you go pretending that she had no justification for killing them without a shred of context, much like the accusations of genocide when other characters have clear motives and are actually displayed engaged in such. GET. SOME. ACTUAL. EVIDENCE.
Doesn't matter in the eyes of civilians, shithead.
I want to add this to your comment, user: she took what is basically a nuke, gave it to her queen, and the queen bomb Clerya. Keep in mind that when the players left the place, there were a bunch of kids there. Clerya wasn't even in war.
Spoilers you fucking faggot
It does in the eyes of the ones those soldier are protecting. Learn some fucking context dipshit.
>GET. SOME. ACTUAL. EVIDENCE.
you're the one denying her actions and desperately trying to find a way out that simply isn't there. if they wanted to write reasoning, they would have.
she's a ruthless killer (and proud of it) and there's nothing you can say or do to disprove it. sounds like you're the one BTFO forever.
Right back at you, retard.
You mean Odin? The eidolon that Thorn and Zorn extracted from Garnet?
Yes it does you absolute buffom. A soldier is inserted in a war context. He kills other soldiers. Willing enemies also inserted in the same context. Now, if a soldier were to go on a killing-spree on civillians, it would be murder. Which I haven't seen in this game. Do not @me a second time.
They killed EVERYONE in the kingdom of rats, not just the soldiers, dingus.
>she's a ruthless killer
Who did she kill. Name them specifically.
>and there's nothing you can say or do to disprove it
There's nothing you can say or do to prove it, because otherwise you would have.
>i-im rubber ur g-g-glueee
Imagine getting so rekt in a debate you have to resort to this, lmao
>she died before anyone could "use" her body
What a waste, so sinful.
>thinks he won
Oh, that's just precious that you think it's over and done with.
she admits to killing hundreds, and she's proud of it.
Ahah... I've been accompanying your tirade in this thread and you seem to think Beatrix is a 'ruthless, psychopatic killer', is that right? "They" ? Who are they? I thought we were discussing Beatrix's actions? I haven't seen her commit a murder in-game, nor have I seen any implications of it lore-wise.
It pretty much is because you don't even understand why a country would support it's own troops killing enemy combatants.
>civilians of a kingdom that wasn't actively trying to engage in war
>totally okay to kill them
Okay, kid.
And what does that have to do with Cleyra and Burmecia? Let me guess, you're
A S S U M I N G
She's talking about them? You still can't prove ANYTHING
I'm more than willing to accept that might be the case GRANTED you actually bring forth some ACTUAL FUCKING EVIDENCE instead of ASSUMING everything you think is true.
Who killed them? Do you have screenshots to back up who killed who?
I'm torn between picking Beatrix and Lani
>War criminal
>Just served her queen as ordered
In game she boasts about killing hundreds. That sounds like a cold-blooded killer to me.
>she's proud of it.
No, she isn't.
Proud enough to boast about it.
That's literally the definition of boast.
Prove it then with a screencap.
Or someone boasting to get her opponent to back down. But then again either of these are ASSUMPTIONS and not known to be absolute FACTS.
FACTS
-Beatrix is never shown killing anyone
-Beatrix beats Zidane and crew to the point of making them immobile and never kills them
-Beatrix steals Cleyra's jewel without hurting anyone and runs away when she could presumably annihilate anyone there trying to stop her
ASSUMPTIONS (with no supporting proof)
-Beatrix killed Burmecians!
-Beatrix killed Cleyrans!
-Beatrix led the attack on Lindblum!
Beatrix is so hot, I would forgive her even if she genocided a country
If you think you can disregard what she says, despite her being an otherwise completely truthful person, because it disagrees with your headcanon, then you're far more baseless than what you're disagreeing with.
If you can't supply any evidence that she's lying, you're just trying to paint her as a liar.
I'm disregarding nothing, you're the one not considering the evidence that goes against your stance. Like I mentioned in I'm willing to accept she killed Burmecians and/or Cleyrans if the evidence is sufficient. Her saying she killed 100 knights does not prove that they were Burmecian.
please remember:
FACTS
-Beatrix is never shown killing anyone
-Beatrix beats Zidane and crew to the point of making them immobile and never kills them
-Beatrix steals Cleyra's jewel without hurting anyone and runs away when she could presumably annihilate anyone there trying to stop her
ASSUMPTIONS (with no supporting proof)
-Beatrix killed Burmecians!
-Beatrix killed Cleyrans!
-Beatrix led the attack on Lindblum!
I disagree gently.
Zidane, Steiner, Vivi and Garnet receive the majority of development, but Eiko has a big-ass arc that ties into Garnet's. Granted, Freya's story is the biggest casualty since it ends abruptly, whereas Quina is more of a joke character and Amarant's backstory is something you kind of piece together rather than explicitly get.
Beatrix isn't a Mary Sue, I don't think you understand what that means. The fact that she's on the enemy's side almost the entire game and is set up as one of the only opponents you actually need to fear completely flies in the face of her being all-capable and all-loved. In fact, Beatrix is an example of a great female character - her being female is incidental and has absolutely no impact on the story other than the fact that she gets together romantically with her rival at the end. All of her flaws, her strengths and development in between are personal and unique, and she's never cast in a sympathetic light just for being a woman.
I love how the rats get wiped out right after that gay as fuck dancing cutscene.
>Ever wonder who was strong enough to take her eye? Do you think it was Fratley?
Probably a birth defect.
you're the one constantly trying to shift the goalposts. you're the one calling her a liar without any evidence. the part I find most ironic is that you're asking for evidence when the burden of proof is on you because you can't explain away Beatrix boasting about killing hundreds of people.
additionally, the fact that you need to see her kill to acknowledge she killed is just intellectually dishonest to yourself.
After disc 2 Beatrix would get shat on by Zidane
>A fucking holy knight
>Not cold-blooded and able to kill when it comes to it
Do you know what anything is
>Or someone boasting to get her opponent to back down.
If you assume this, then by the same token you kind of have to assume that it's implied she killed Cleyrans and Burmecians. You can't really have it both ways. The conversation in context isn't high resolution enough to allow for a provocation that isn't implied to be true to the party AND the player at the same time. FFIX is the kind of game where, when a character is using subterfuge, you'll see their thought process in brackets in the same block of text (I hope this works!).
Technically Kuja is never shown killing anyone
He goes apeshit and destroys Terra, but that's okay man, the Genomes were just chilling, their fault they didn't move out of the way right?
And when he uses Ultima, he was just using a random spell. He didn't intend to use it on anyone, the party just got in the way!
>you're the one constantly trying to shift the goalposts
The goalposts have been the same throughout the whole thread - Submit irrefutable evidence of Beatrix killing Burmecians/Cleyrans
>you're the one calling her a liar without any evidence
Actually I posited a theory that she was making a claim to intimidate her opponents before she was forced to beat them down and straight up said it was as much here >you're asking for evidence when the burden of proof is on you because you can't explain away Beatrix boasting about killing hundreds of people.
Why would I need to explain away Beatrix making that boast? She clearly made it regardless of her intent. Her making that boast has no impact on whether she actually killed Burmecians/Cleyrans unless she SPECIFICALLY names them as the knights she killed. An ASSUMPTION you seem to be making.
>the fact that you need to see her kill to acknowledge she killed is just intellectually dishonest to yourself.
Wrong. As mentioned at the beginning the accusation is that she killed Burmecians/Cleyrans when it's never shown or implied, only assumed on the basest of connections (She was at Burmecia and Cleyra! She killed them!!)
>If you assume this, then by the same token you kind of have to assume that it's implied she killed Cleyrans and Burmecians.
>when a character is using subterfuge, you'll see their thought process in brackets in the same block of text
Fair enough, but Beatrix is at a swordsmanship level where she nukes everyone so why wouldn't she believe it? And would it make sense to let the player know that she's bluffing?
Why would that matter when she still helped Brahne go through with it?
Why does it matter if the 100 knights she claims to have killed were burmecian or not, as long as they were knights? Knights aren't civilians so unless she killed them by dishonorable means there's no problem, right?
you originally had issue with her killing period, then later started asking to specify who it was she was killing. you can see that clearly up this reply chain. you are absolutely moving goalposts.
Kuja's purpose in life is to perpetuate conflict and he does so by manipulating Brahne. No one is claiming that did/didn't kill anyone with his own hands, either.
It's not murder if it's war
Because if Brahne didn't want Beatrix to help her nuke rodent folks, Beatrix wouldn't have done anything. And Brahne may not have wanted to do any of it had Kuja not influenced her.
The issue at hand is her supposed genocide of Burmecians/Cleyrans. I'm not gonna presume she's never killed anyone, nor have I said it's impossible for he to have done so.
Yeah, duh, no shit, I'm pointing out how contradictory it is to assume that just because you don't literally see someone rip another person's heart out of their body and bellow "I HAVE KILLED YOU" would imply they didn't kill anybody because of lack of evidence or something
Beatrix's job is a fucking holy knight to the Queen, said Queen happens to genocide a city with a different method (Eidolon). Beatrix kills people in Final Fantasy IX. Knights killed people. Beatrix is based on knights that killed people in the name of their king, country and religion.
My point is, if Beatrix is running around in a city that's being attacked in every sense of the word but you don't see her impale a character, it's still safe to assume she killed at least one person there due to her job as a KNIGHT.
One piece suit characters needs to come back NOW!
>attack a bunch of defenceless people who had nothing to do with you
>genocide them out of existence
>it's not murder if it's war, guise
Beatrix defenders are a riot.
Yeah and the point of this debate isn't wheteher or not she's killed anyone ever, it's that she's accused of genocide at Burmecia and Cleyra when a lot of her actions show her avoiding conflict/killing and she's NEVER shown to kill anyone in the game, period.
seething ratfucker, the army was told burmecia prepared for war against Alexandria. They were just following orders
Which actions?
>she's NEVER shown to kill anyone in the game, period.
Again, name one character who is explicitly shown killing another.
>Which actions?
The ones that have been repeated ad infinum throughout this thread:
-Beatrix is never shown killing anyone
-Beatrix beats Zidane and crew to the point of making them immobile and never kills them
-Beatrix steals Cleyra's jewel without hurting anyone and runs away when she could presumably annihilate anyone there trying to stop her
>Again, name one character who is explicitly shown killing another.
Black mages kill burmecians and cleyrans
I don't know if Alexandrian royalty got a vision of Celes but I'm thankful that this is the military uniform for their army.
With uniforms like these Alexandria will never have a birth rate problem
Her biggest crime of all, not joining the party and leaving you with a redundant second white mage/summoner when we could have had a paladin.
Alexandrian girls certainly know how to dress to impress.
She was literally about to cut up a soldier in her first appearance you doughnut. The only reason he wasn't killed was because Zidane and co. saved him.
>Beatrix is never shown killing anyone
Not an action. Again, Kuja is never shown killing anyone, but he's involved in a scene that ends with many deaths. Just like Beatrix.
Okay, do you want the biggest proof against this? You have to have Beatrix use her finishing move on you, or it's literally game over. So she will kill you if you perform badly enough. So Beatrix is not beyond killing people.
>Beatrix beats Zidane and crew to the point of making them immobile and never kills them
See previous point.
>Beatrix steals Cleyra's jewel without hurting anyone and runs away when she could presumably annihilate anyone there trying to stop her
Pretty sure her beating the shit out of the party for the third time counts as "hurting" people. Essentially, her involvement could very well be "steal the jewel" but the point is that she's still allied with and involved in the aggressive side.
That soldier ran up to her and challenged her.
A soldier that foolishly challenged her until someone said her name and he effectively shat his pants.
>is supposedly the single most powerful person in the world
>willingly takes orders from an obese clown that routinely throws temper tantrums like a 5 year old when she isn't busy hatching silly yet violent schemes and getting played like a doll by a temperamental metrosexual
Beatrix was either crazy or retarded. Hard to punish in either case.
>he challenged her, so it makes it ok if she killed him.
>Hojo is never shown killing anyone in the game
He's a good boy guys, I don't know why he has such a bad reputation.
Yea. And so what if he tried to make Red fuck Aerith? It's not our world, so the laws about beastiality aren't the same!
>inaction on the thing I claim she does doesn't count!!
How convenient.
>See previous point.
lmao at this semantics BS
>Pretty sure her beating the shit out of the party for the third time counts as "hurting" people
Beatrix was content to leave then Zidane and crew stopped her and said they'd kick her ass, so she obliged them.
>she's still allied with and involved in the aggressive side
Her liege told her to do something and she did it. Once again if Kuja hadn't influenced Brahne, Brahne might not have tasked Beatrix to do the thingsa she, nevermind that as I've repeated over and over and over again, she isn't shown killing burmecians/cleyrans, doesn't kill Zidane's group 3 TIMES when it would have made more sense to get rid of them the second time and formulated a plan that didn't get anyone killed at cleyra until the black mages started teleporting in, which made Beatrix upset.
Aerith isn't even technically a human so the laws wouldn't apply to her anyway
BECAUSE THEY WERE FUCKING MURDERING EVERYONE. What, you thought he was trying to fight her for shits and giggles? She was obviously taking part of the slaughter and he retaliated in defense, and would've continued without hesitation if Zidane didn't cockblock her murderboner.
She didn't kill him, she never even took a swing at him
That you didn't see. ;)
I like to think one Freyafag and one Beatrixfag are constantly at war with one another
Hojo is documented to have had Shinra soldiers shoot Dr. Gast and Ifalna, shot Vincent Valentine and experiment on him as well as collected Zack and Cloud's bodies for experimentation.
So you agree with me. Glad we got past that.
>Freyafag
There like 3 different anons that hate Beatrix. Freyafag is one, but the other two are either the one that hate being beaten by her 3 times and get shittalk by her and never beat hear again (she is the worst offender of this for all of JRPG bosses), or those that saw the flaw in the story and pointed out how much of a plot armor she has (she got a love story/good ending despite contributing to Branhe's warmachine).
Shinra soldiers shot Dr. Gast and Ifalna, Hojo had nothing to do with it. Please stop slandering someone so obviously innocent. Also the whole Vincent thing's only proof is just some emo guy's biased story because he was mad his girl liked Hojo more.
That she still very much murdered people and helped commit genocide?
Who, Brahne, Kuja and Beatrix? They all gathered in one area and Brahne talked about the black mages doing a good job of fucking up Burmecia. None of them were shown killing anyone.
And lol at Zidane cockblocking Beatrix, she had all the time in the world to ruthlessly murder that soldier but instead she introduced herself and warned him she'd show no quarter.
>s-she was just following orders guys!
I'm amaze no one made a Hitler/Stalin comparison, yet.
Yeah, this. I'm getting tired of people dragging poor Brahne's name through the mud. Kuja's too. They're never actually shown in the game killing anyone, and yet some members of the fanbase treat them like dirt, even though they're good characters with hearts of gold.
Beatrix should have been a party member over the lame rat with no character.
>Hojo had nothing to do with it
youtu.be
I found it weird that she basically ready to cut Zidane, Vivi and Freyas heads off until she sees garnet on the couch and goes "oh so the order the Queen gave to have garnet killed was real? Okay I'm good "
>She literally lead the force against Lindblum, in which a summon ate half of the Lindblum's force, the other half being burn to death by Mage army.
How is that a war crime? It's just war
>Hojo literally says he doesn't want to harm them
>reiterates this by telling the soldiers to be careful
>Gast attacks, forcing the soldiers to defend themselves
Hojo is pretty much a saint, honestly. What a nice guy.
Beatrix wouldn't have anything to do with Burmecia/Cleyra if it weren't for Kuja and Brahne.
Death to subuman beast races
Does shooting a real Cuckold even count as murder?
I would call it mercy killing. I would only hang Hojo for Gast and Ifalna. Him experimenting on Vincent was just making a useless cuck worth something.
>Gast attacks, forcing the soldiers to defend themselves
and then Ifalna gets shot running away, which is how she dies at the Midgar train station
>None of them were shown killing anyone.
So I guess that all of them clearly dindu nuffin and were innocent the whole time.
>she had all the time in the world to ruthlessly murder that soldier but instead she introduced herself and warned him she'd show no quarter.
Are seriously trying to imply that she WOULDN'T have murdered him? The fucking mental gymnastics at display here is absurd, holy shit.
Gotta be fair to Cloud and Zack and treat them all equally
He was undercover which is why he blabs about Garden being targeted.
That doesn't matter, because she still was regardless. That's like saying a crook wouldn't steal your wallet if he never saw you, no fucking shit he wouldn't.
I would argue that they would have died, if Hojo had not come and took them both. Cloud had a gaping wound in his belly. And Zack looked half dead in CC version of events.
The implication is that she's a genocidal murder machine, but in that exchange she doesn't immediately kill the soldier, fights and immobilizes Zidane's crew and doesn't kill any of them.
>transforms Vincent from a useless, spineless emo into a vital character for skipping lengthy animations
>transforms Cloud from a pathetic little runt into one of the most powerful characters in the game
>is still never shown killing anyone
What a man
>but in that exchange she doesn't immediately kill the soldier
That doesn'the fucking matter when she still had every intention of killing him regardless.
>fights and immobilizes Zidane's crew and doesn't kill any of them
The only reason why was because they literally stalled long enough until they were forced to leave them there. She can still very much kill the entire party if you don't.
I don't think this user knows what a murder boner looks like.
It's of all the importance. Beatrix didn't start the war against the rodent folks, it was Kuja influencing Brahne, yet somehow Beatrix was the instrument of genocide even though it's only black mages are ever shown killing anyone.
>m-muh dick
>*fap**fap**fap*
this, but unironically
>That doesn'the fucking matter when she still had every intention of killing him regardless.
People still making assumptions. If she was about killing that guy why not Stock Break Zidane's crew off the bat and off him before he could get away?
>The only reason why was because they literally stalled long enough until they were forced to leave them there
And she has two separate chances to do so later but she doesn't in either of them
>glasses are a disability
You're fucking retarded, kid.
>the characters can defeat Necron, a literal god-like being that is the manifestation of death and tropy
>they are powerless against this bitch, who manages to defeat them three different times
God I hate this shitty trope. Why does almost every jrpg do this?
*death and entropy
>If she was about killing that guy why not Stock Break Zidane's crew off the bat and off him before he could get away?
And why would she do that when her normal attacks were enough to one shot you? She underestimated Zidane and how long it would take to kill him because she's been fighting rats that fall without much effort.
They weren't always powerless. By the final fight, they had her on the ropes, so at least it wasn't just "she's always the strongest in the fight" every time.
Could she beat pic related
>war crimes
And who's gonna prosecute her? They're only war crimes when the nation loses and another nation prosecutes its war criminals.
>why would she do that
to satiate her supposed murderboner
Beatrix is my wife.
>fucking stabbing people over using magic isn't satiating her murderboner
But the implication was that she was without a doubt going to kill that Burmecian soldier. Instead she fucked around and didn't kill ANYONE.
This, they obviously get stronger every time. When she joins the team the game shows how she is about as strong as Steiner, just with a load of better skills + heals and holy in her arsenal. By the Necron fight each of your team members is a strong, with ultimate weapons, skills and spells. Beatrix has nothing on Meteor, Ultima Weapon, etc
Yeah, because again, she completely underestimated her opponents and wasted way too much time because if it. She wasn't trying to be merciful you fucking twat.
>I want to murder things!
>Well that didn't murder them, guess I'll fuck around for 10 rounds and then Stock Break them and not kill anyone
Yes, that's exactly what happened. She was cocky and didn't expect them to last as long as they did, what part about this are you not getting?
Well, nobody said she was a well-written character. We wouldn't be having this thread if she was.
Is there seriously someone attempting to argue that Beatrix didn't kill anyone in the entire game?
Yeah, it's fucking retarded. It's probably some waifufag trying to make her seem innocent or some shit.
Aiding and abetting war crimes, also literally stealing WMDs for immediate application. She didn't directly make the black mages massacre Cleyran civilians, but she was in charge of the operation regardless.
Yeah. But SS officers didn't get off scott free just because they weren't in Hitler's inner circle. "Just following orders" doesn't really fly as defense.
No just degenerate rat scum
>I mean Freya´s arc remained forever unfinished
Why does everyone forget that it gets tied up in the ending?
Um user that would be problematic and sexist
ITT: Yea Forums silently confirms its love for Freya.
Usually it's quite vocal about it.
>Burmecian feet fitting in human boots.
>Human body shape.
>Arms aren't long as fuck.
>Muzzle shape is wrong.
Bad fanart.
Much better even if it's furry as fuck, thank you.
>anthromorphic rat is furry
Well done, Sherlock we've solved another case.
>kills thousands of civilians in a terror attack ten times worse than 9/11
heh, nothing personel
There's a big difference between Looney Tunes and Twokinds, if you get my meaning.
Prove that any civilians were killed in the destruction of the reactors.
Dropping the plate was the biggest crime against humanity in FFVII, anyway.
Shinra also killed countless on purpose as well.
Final Fantasy IX-2
Two years after the ending of Final Fantasy IX.
The happy ending was not to last. Zidane has not accepted by many of the subjects in Alexandria as rumours circulated that he was the brother of Kuja, whose wrath had brought such death and destruction to their world. Not to mention the fact that he frankly lacked the intelligence to rule a country, being more apt with 'street smarts.' It all caused a massive strain on his relationship with Queen Garnet, who also had become tired of his incredibly high libido. Her ass simply could not take it anymore, which led to arguments.
Freya was also having a hard time. Fratley never did remember her, causing her pain every day. Eventually, she thought it best for both of them if she simply moved on.
Meeting in a pub for drinks and reminiscing, this is the suprisingly bad news an increasingly drunken duo had to share. Zidane looks into the bottom of his last pint, and sighs. He really thought everything would work out for them both, but now...
Suddenly, he feels a hand on his leg, and looks up into the blushing, yet keen face of Freya.
>New Game
Would you play it, Yea Forums?
You can not possibly 'murder' someone with a blade in their hands.
Tha isn't even remotely similar.
No. Direct FF sequels are invariably a bad idea even if the first game was good and that fanfic tier garbage doesn't help.
That said it'd be nice if they made a classic style FF in the vein of FFIX or something.
>Oh that Garnet looks ho-
>Tail
Zidane is just as hot as Garnet, don't fight it
more please
Seifer cut Odin in fucking half effortlessly, it's not as if he got away with everything, but that no one was man enough to confront him about it.
is that female Suzaku?
She only did bad shit to rats for the most part, in our world we'd consider her a hero.
>kills thousands of civilians
Literally when?
The reactor explosion didn't look like it could've killed anyone, except maybe those who were already inside it (not civilians therefore) or in the very immediate surroundings at worst
No.
she's just a gross old office lady
I mean, Squall and chums beat Ultimecia so they could do it, but I guess they have better things to do.
>All the Knights of Pluto are idiots and get nasty quality armor that looks plain but relatively functional
>All the Alexandrian knights under Beatrix are at least semi-competent but have leotard armor
Who the hell made these decisions?
Nah in game news reports and people talking streets talks about mass casualties and people dying in their sleep. Avalanche killed a lot of fucking innocents and some of the conversation Barret pretty much admits that shit. He is no saint or hero but I would not call him a terrorist its basically a do or die scenario. Shin Ra is draining away the planets life force and they created Sephiroth a walking WMD that is actively trying to destroy the planet.
She wears the patch as a handicap, do you even anime?
Shinra subjugated Wutai when it resisted, massacred Corel on false arson charges and dropped the Sector 7 plate just to get rid of a tiny opposing cell, so yeah. It's still terrorism (quite literal eco-terrorism, even), but there's moral relativity to consider.
Squall curbstomped him in Pandora so hard even Seifer's posse called him pathetic. Seifer was exiled and left alone because it was too inconvenient for all the entities involved to deal with him.
She obeyed the orders. That's why Freya didn't killed her on sight, like she supposed to do.
She also got salty for not getting enough "gratitude" for her genociding.
I did make Fraya so strong that she can handle every for literally.
Rat race can not die.
>She obeyed the orders
Didn't work at Nuremberg, why would it work here?
>Believing the Shinra MSM
Because she's a girl, getting genocided by a girl is a shame.
Happily contributing to Brahne's warmachine at that. The shilling gets particularly galling when you have NPCs saying that Beatrix would made a better queen than Garnet, since the writers can't decide if she's a "just following orders, I dindu nuthin" doormat follower or the smartest, strongest, most noble, and most competent person in Alexandria.
>because it was too inconvenient for all the entities involved to deal with him.
In another words, they were afraid and the possible losses for taking him out outweighs the benefit of simply telling him to kindly fuck off.
Guys listen, you're forgetting an important point: FFIX is retarded.
I mean yeah, but it's fun to make serious arguments out of silly stories.
Politically inconvenient, dumbo. The Gardens and Galbadia were both involved/complicit in his crimes, so sending him for a trial would open a can of worms that nobody wanted. Seifer himself devolved into a sad, delusional faggot by the end of the game, incapable of anything without Ultimecia around.
Cecil did horrible shit too and he ended up being a king revered by the entire world.
I love ff9 threads
Yeah, but Cecil immediately questioned his orders and then straight up abandoned his nation upon seeing a village burned down and Rydia as the only survivor.
Cecil felt bad, turned traitor after one round of killing and one surprise genocide, was confronted with his sins many times, and repented through myriad amazing feats.
Beatrix feels no shame at all.
We never talk about 3/4 of the game's plot.
The point is the difference how the game and the writers treated his horrible shit. FFIV, although melodramatic, shallow, and dumb in many ways, had no problem recognizing that genociding helpless people is bad and had Cecil atone for it. FFIX, on the other hand, tries to show horrible shit and then immediately sweeps it under the carpet and shills/excuses the perpetrators just to get some incredibly forced "touching" moments and a generic happy ending.
I love IX, but all the subplots go to shit after Disc 1.
Having replayed it after more than 10 years, I was surprised just how bad it gets after Disc 1. Not just dissatisfying, but flat out badly written. Characters start teleporting all over the place, getting into places that should be literally impossible to get to according to the plot, grim stuff gets immediately undercut by some paper-thin excuse and forgotten, about 80% of the trouble Zidane gets into during the first three discs is because he needs to save Garnet's idiotic ass again and again, and so on. Delivering the triumphant "life is precious and worth living" ending message though Vivi's completely asspulled """"""sons'"""" was the cherry on top.
Disc 1 and early disc 2 is absolute comfy kino tho
She’s a girl tho, so it’s ok
>Delivering the triumphant "life is precious and worth living" ending message though Vivi's completely asspulled """"""sons'"""" was the cherry on top.
Hey, it's magic, I ain't gonna explain shit
shut the fuck up
>posts a fat old lady
>muh waifu
Are all the later FF9 ports based on the android/ios? Is the ps3/PSP/vita port the only pure one?
Only the PS1 version is pure
The modern ones based on mobile have a fast forward feature. FFIX is so slow and dull that playing without fast forward is akin to torture.
That's the thing, they didn't even bother mentioning any magic that could do that. The Mist production was stopped during the game and everybody who knew how to make Black Mages died, so who the fuck made them and how? And why are they called sons, considering Vivi was mentally a child? The last question also raises more questions, namely why would Kuja and co. make a human weapon prototype that is only three feet tall and has a mentality of a shy and gullible child.
KEK this reminds me of the kotaku article asking for a skip game button LMAOOO
I've played 9 a dozen times since its release. It has the longest battle load times of the ps1 games and unlike 8, where animations can start before others are finished, allies and enemies don't start actions until every cycle is fully over. Combine this with a brief second of loading the next queued action before it executes in every round of battle and you end up with a slow and arduous ATB system. It's a regression from all the improvements made from 5 to 8. Fast forward is a godsend
megane makes her design 10x better cunt
She has the best theme
Don't care, I didn't even read your post
That's fine. FFIX does need a skip game button anyway, because it blows.
Loading times = gameplay, apparently. Thanks for the contribution, random retard.
I don't think I've ever seen a game move from the final draft to earlier revisions as it progresses. Not even like it got worse, but like they literally only managed to revise a few parts more than once before shipping. It's wild seeing the plot's skeleton become more obvious each hour until the very end where it feels like they got another draft or two passed.
Gotta love how the game just gives up by the end, not even trying to invent any reason why you have to fight Necron.
I feel the opppsite, like the last go-around jumps straight from disc 1 to the end, with them trying to justify this stuff quickly and the up loose ends as best they can. Less they didn't try, more it's the only thing they tried on past the first third.
>Vivi the pure and innocent little dude dies at the end
>This bitch doesn't and gets an happy ending
Fuck the end of this game
Whole game is about how unfair and depressing life is and coping with it. Beatrix sucks, but Vivi's ending is perfect.
She freely admits to killing a hundred soldiers.
How or when is left entirely to conjecture.
No i don't care i didn't want him to die, anyone but him would have been fine
It's weird. The Memoria section is done well overall and yeah, the game is clearly trying to tie things up, but a lot of it ends up feeling completely unearned and coming out of nowhere because the writing before it was so shoddy. Take Kuja's death, for example. It's supposed to be this big, dramatic scene about the value of life, reconciliation and forgiveness, except where the hell did it all come from? Zidane was never portrayed as some selfless martyr. Kuja spent the whole game being absolutely, irredeemably terrible with no positive traits. Freya has no reason to feel sorry for him. And yet the game pretends as if all of this had been established at some point.
And of course, in the end it doesn't even matter because Zidane's sacrifice ends up being a cheap fakeout and everybody just goes on their merry way.
That's precisely why it has to be him.
Yeah, again it looks like they laid out the structure of the game, finalized the plot for the first chunk, and then mostly finished the ending but had to slap together some hasty explanations. Honestly, the story is actually perfectly fine when you realize discs 2 and 3 were supposed to be where character interactions unfold. Where Freya mills on her dilemma and plays off of Vivi and Aramant and Steiner and Garnet and Eiko even Quina. Where more subplots emerge and we get a sense of Beatrix's problems. Where Zidane grows as a person and Aramant actually does something. Where Kuja's motives and feelings are made more apparent through more complicated events. The game has a perfectly logical endpoint with satisfactory arcs, but most of the development is missing and the center of the game reads like a design doc. Given when it released, the mechanical problems, VIII's fucked development and X's looming launch, I wouldn't be surprised if the game was shipped a bit too early.
Beatrix was way better than fatty Steiner.
Thread theme.
youtu.be
Both of them were terrible, but Steiner was better written.
> Zidane was never portrayed as some selfless martyr.
Except he was really selfless, his whole theme is "do you need a reason to help others?".
>Kuja spent the whole game being absolutely, irredeemably terrible with no positive traits.
At the very end he does realize what a fag he was and teleports the party away from memoria after they defeat necron.
> Zidane's sacrifice ends up being a cheap fakeout and everybody just goes on their merry way.
It made for a cool reveal and the ending is still a bit bittersweet since vivi is dead (his sons are dumb tho)
That said I do feel game ends a bit abruptly. They supposedly changed the ending seven times while writing it.
Vivi dedicated the last few months of his life to finding a cure for the Black Mages' tragically short lifespan and a way to make more of his kind in a post-Mist world.
Vivi's "sons" are proof that whatever Vivi did, he succeeded. He didn't have time to save himself, but he gave his people a future.
That's how I've always seen it, anyhow.
>Except he was really selfless, his whole theme is "do you need a reason to help others?".
A string of letters on a character introduction screen does not make characterization. In the actual game, there's nothing particularly altruistic or selfless about him. At his best he's a generic JRPG protagonist doing generic JRPG protagonist things; at his worst he's a shizo who mopes about muh twu wuw and tries chasing some random girl (much to her disgust) literally two seconds apart.
FF has a number of generally selfless characters who are steadfastly and consciously considerate and explicitly put others before themselves. Zidane isn't one of them.
Except Mist should be all gone and Black Mages have a lifespan of about three years at most, so what future are we talking about here?
Steiner was a better character and not a gary stu. No one would like Beatrix if she weren't hot.
Hence the importance of me saying "post-Mist world"
What did he do? I dunno, but he had access to his own wits, Lindblum's scientists, and the genomes, so whatever they did, they did something. It wasn't enough to save Vivi or any of the other Black Mages we met in the story, but it ensured that their legacy would carry on.
Zidane (or shitstain as I call him) is selfish all he can think about is who he wants to rape
dont forget gandhi
Are you sure you're not expecting too much of a monkey?
Akahori Gedou Hour Rabuge
>FF has a number of generally selfless characters who are steadfastly and consciously considerate and explicitly put others before themselves. Zidane isn't one of them.
Isn't that kind of the point? That even someone so selfish can change?
Beatrix was a perfect Solder. The only reason why you're pissed off is because you'd think she'd act more with emotions because she's a woman but no. She's only doing her orders like any men should do to their leader. She's meant to be somewhat controversial and make you think she's shit for all the pain she's causing to your team despite following orders but she's a genuine character who realize how shit the Queen is when she wants to kill her own daughter. Would you shoot the messenger or the person giving the orders?
Steiner would have done the same, except he'd be more of a joke to deal with
I cant bet this fucking whore and her bitch ass lightning spam
But he doesn't change. There's little difference between the Disc1 Zidane and Disc4 Zidane, even though the game pretends he's practically a messiah by the time the final act rolls around. He's one of the most static post-IV FF MCs along with Vaan and Bartz, which wouldn't be necessarily a bad thing if the endgame wasn't written for someone else.
>if the endgame wasn't written for someone else.
What, Vivi? Freya? Steiner? Garnet?
>Ratniggers comparing my boy Cecil to some shitty fuck Mary-sue
And they say furfaggots arent irredeemable
She’s not as fun as Caius but she would have been an improvement over robot Pope as the villain. It’s strange how she is a boss in XIII-2 but not XIII.
But the ratfuckers are the one saying the Mary Sue is shit and Cecil is based, dipshit.
A different Zidane.
This is literally what's going to happen with Zenos in ffxiv
rats did nothing wrong
To be fair, Cecil is what Beatrix should have been more similar to, as a flawed human being seeking redemption, rather than some unstoppable god warrior who never does anything wrong and everyone loves.
Maybe the rats and nerds should have just git gud at warfare?
Maybe if ratnigger danced harder Cleyra wouldnt have gotten Hiroshima'd
