If you check the boxes it should stay persistent even upon area change.
It is a very fun tool, it lets you basically try any piece of equipment that's in the game, officially or not. The time and weather manipulation features are great, too, as are the extended camera controls. You can make your character virtually clip through shit and take screenshots where you shouldn't be able to in the first place (e.g. the little space outside the window in the Kugane inn). Take some time to learn it, it's worth it.

It's literally the fastest way to gain exp for low leveled jobs. Namazu quests gave you about 300k gil per quest on release due to Stormsap if you'd already capped gatherers/crafters. The storylines are good and you get a mount out of it too. Beast Tribes are probably the most efficient way to spend your time in this game.

However you need to level all crafters to 50 and some a bit higher than that to do any endgame crafts. If you get the GC/FC EXP buffs it really doesn't take too terribly long to level crafting/gathering. You can sell the excess shit you gather while leveling to help you get your foot in the door for crafting as well.

Then like 40 for all the crafters and that's assuming you're doing it with the longets method (gathering all your mats for leves) and not just going the lazy but slower route of doing ixal dailies->moogle dailies->Namazu dailies which takes much less time but obviously is timegated

Most statics I've applied to aren't like that. The most they've ever done is asked me if I can actually attend 90%+ of scheduled times and if I would like to do ultimate or stick around for 5.0.

There are even a lot of ultimate groups that will take blue log players and specify in their ad that they value communication and chillness over parses. That's why using the transcendant static finder discord is bretty gud, you'll know where the fflogs autists are and where the statics that simply want you to show up, play decently, and get along with people are just from how they word their advertisement.
