Let's be real for a second, what a great fucking game. Genuinely one of the best things you can give to a child, it has just that right balance of being extremely easy but potentially complex as well.

It's crazy the amount of on-line friends I gathered while playing this game. Man, how fun it was..

The new devs shoehorned in new characters with special abilities for no reason and the charm of the story mode the first 2 games had was no where to be found.

This, plus the fact that gameplay-wise LBP3 felt like it could have just been DLC for LBP2. There was nothing new like comparing LBP1 to LBP2's gameplay.

I remember reading that it's about 3 hours if played at a brisk pace.

Something that really irked me about LBP3 is how everything looked too "perfect".
In LBP1, the contraptions were clever, and you could actually see how they worked; you could see how improvised and jury-rigged their inner working were. Things like putting a switch on a creature and making it walk back and forth in a small space to use it as a timer, or using destructible surfaces + explosives as a logic gate blew my mind as a kid. LBP3 doesn't really have that, thanks to the controlinator.

LBP2 had controllinator and logic chips but retained its soul, though

Me and best friend were absolutely DEVILISH 14 year olds on LBP2 back in the day.

We'd invite famous creators who would make detailed setpieces, backgrounds, home spaces, big detailed contraptions or machines, any kind of creation, and then steal their items without them being able to tell. We would also do the same for costumes like peoples OC's they used within the community

For stealing costumes we would enter a fresh creative mode lobby and place a sackbot in the far right corner away from where the players spawn (far left corner) and set the sackbot to clone player 3's outfit. He would invite them to join us (there was no way to know if someone was inviting you from a creative mode lobby) and they wouldn't know to take their costumes off beforehand, and once they joined us there wouldn't be enough time to take it off either. I'd copy the sackbots cloned costume and then delete the bot immediately, and they wouldn't even know it happened

When stealing level assets or creations it was different, it depended on if the person would trust us and take it out of their saved creations to place it in the level. Typically thieves would open the popit menu and use the "copy item within grid" to snatch items quickly, but more experienced creators were really cautious and could delete things quickly like it's muscle memory. Me and my friend didn't open the popit menu at all or use the grid copy feature though. Instead whenever someone placed a creation to show us we would just press Start and go to "save level as". There was no way to tell that you just got robbed and there was no indication either. We had tons of cool stuff to play with because of that

I bought 1 and 2 back in the day and it was fun but it loaded forever, had way too much DLC and while the level building was cash the actual movement was trash so I ultimately stopped playing it before 3 was even announced.

It was like the first game I ever got based on me just seeing it and wanting to play it myself, rather than it being a game my big brother got me into, it was also like the last game I ever got to rent from Blockbuster until the last one near me finally closed down in like 2009 or 2010.

Doubtfull. If you were you would have been signed up to the Mm newsletter and would know all this shit and event played the beta.

Its cool how some of the stuff made in the beta surpased their expectations. Even so to the point they used much of it in that trailer.

They said the player cap for the early access is large though. And its only for NA and EU.

Loved the Vita version, recently played Unfolded and loved how the changed it up for console. Great game over all, really nailed the charming platformer genre.

Thanks user. The best thing we actually got our hands on was a full working copy of Angel-Box's "Hide 'n Seek: Home Edition" which was a pretty famous level back around release. For some reason he had the entire level saved as an object and we snagged it from him. The level itself has 182k unique plays and 45k hearts, and it was a pretty big deal for us because we loved the level. LBP1/2 was probably the most fun I've had with a videogame because of those guys. They were so relaxed and friendly, also pretty fucking clever for their age. No one had an air of superiority/arrogance around them in our circle, unlike lots of other creators at the time. There was also lots of famous "trolls" with OC's inside the community which we stole a good amount of costumes/assets from. We loved to subtly fuck with or steal shit from people who based their identity purely on being trolls. This thread brought back some fun memories.

We all had a very thorough understanding of the game but did nothing with that knowledge besides dumb shit. We just wanted to have fun, and we had a lot of it

The graphics have improved a lot but the story is super short and many of the levels imported from 1 and 2 are either broken or kill the framerate

I've always associated the "sound" this song talks about as bombs because of those damn bomb survival maps. Spent way too much time on those with my bro.

I always look back on that shit and how gay it was to have an "LBP Girlfriend", but the truth is it gave me a lot of self-confidence irl

And I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss feeling like I mattered to somebody out there.
