Incorporate them into actual games.

Stop playing mobages and gachashit

Simple.
Destroy all smartphones so devs dont have an easy out by making low quality gatcha shit.

No
How would you incorporate a masterpiece like Umineko into an actual game?
its impossible

seething contrarians
Babylonia is the best VN ever made

>Makes and release 50 moeges that ROOK THE FUCKING SAME, EACH MONTHS, EACH ABOUT THE SAME TRASH
>"wtf, why is this not selling?!"
Fuck nips VN devs. How about having some class sometimes?

You don’t. They were a product of their time. Let go.

Moeges are the only ones selling.
Literally only the ploteges and chunnis devs are getting bankrupt.

>They were a product of their time
No they aren't. Almost every single JRPG takes some sort of VN format, even modern ones.

Fucking HELL
Each time I check the getchu ranking my heart dies a little bit.

I hope nothing happens to Innogrey before KnS3
Then I will be done with this medium.
VNs peaked with Infinity series and Umineko.
Its all been a downhill since then.

wut am i lookin at

VN devs are getting bankrupt daily

You gotta buy them at some point,
studios can't pay wages and bills with torrents alone.

Only nukiges still try somewhat

Attached: 1527708259120.png (1088x612, 1.34M)

Unless its nekopara or some other cringe ironic weeb shit, VNs aren't gonna sell in west.

At least stuff like S;G still sell (or do they? No one seems to care for Chaos Child)
We fucking sucks too.

>sekai project
The others on the list are legitimately sad, but fuck Sekai Project forever. They better crash and go fully bankrupt and never return to the industry in any way shape or form. Fuck them. They've been contributing nothing and have only made things worse. While being total cunts about it too. Lying and disingenuous cunts at that.

mostly because of the anime tho
I'm sure FSN would also sell very well on steam

Do they even make money with this

Go balls deep weird like with 25th Ward and I/O

>Dies Irae devs died
F

Make more good Visual Novels and less shit ones.

Attached: yanagashita.jpg (1920x1080, 277K)

no it looks like someones homework

This Utawarerumono did it right.

Then it would be just a videogame not a VN.

I haven't actually seen any news from or about them in a couple of years. What shit have they been doing exactly, they seemed alright when they were getting started.

Absolute shit taste. Camelot was better but it's still nowhere near an actual quality VN. Nasu is a hack who can't write good things.

I personally blame FGO, granblue, fire emblem heroes, shadowverse, azur lane, dragalia lost, idolm@ster and persona for this

There's a reason Ace Attorney, Danganronpa, and Zero Escape had some popularity in the west. They were able to present themselves in a way that pretended to be real games without actually being real games.

Here's how you fix visual novels:

>drop the anime art style
>drop the dating sim aspects entirely, unless incorperated as a secondary, optional feature
>have multiple MCs who have different plot paths
>maximise the amount of plot paths you can take for each character
>increase interactivity during conversations
>give each character dozens, or even hundreds of endings
>incorperate RPG elements, like stats, skills and turn based battles.
>write interesting stories
>focus on making the thing as reayable as possible
>build pre-release hype
>have conversations voiced, by professionals who sound actually into the scenes.
>mini games

There, fixed.

>they seemed alright when they were getting started.
Yeah, but most of it was lies and never true in the first place, and the rest is and remains incompetence.

I am kind exhausted and don't really feel like going Sekai Project's almost endless list of faults, but let me just say this at the very least.
Sekai Project have used kickstarter to fund the vast majority of their titles, even though they are far, far from being a start-up at this point.
Beyond this though they have unironically failed to fully deliver on a single one of any one of all of those kickstarters. They've all been riddled with delays and or goods that never shipped or were never made and or goods that simply weren't as advertised, or other straight up lies. Every single kickstarter.
And they have on repeatedly lied and then on occasion even edited past web pages or whatever in attempts to cover up their lies.
What's more they are by no means strangers to outright insult their very audience and or even paying customers and have done so on repeatedly.
Also censorship. They fucking loathe eroge and don't even want to sell eroge even though it's the business they work in and have stated on multiple occasions that it was never their intention to enter this industry.

The list goes on and on and I really don't have the energy to list it all right now. They are interestingly enough also the ones who have been the ones most aggressive when it have come to killing the fan translation scene.

It shames me to admit that I believed in them once, but then they lied to me about the product and when I brought it up they lied to me, tried to act like they weren't and had never lied, and after that they outright insulted me and others in my position. I have hated them ever since, but their wrongdoings have only continued since then and have only accelerated if anything.
Fuck them forever.

RIP. Maybe they should make VN + RPGs.

LET THEM DIE

>EVNs thriving more than JVNs
How did this happen?

You forgot the part where their translations are shit, little better than google at times.

>Mini games
Theres a lot of terrible shit on this list but this one has to be by far the worst.

Attached: 1476144759554.png (557x625, 343K)

>studio goes bankrupt while trying to do all that
Woah good solution bro!

>Shitti Project
>business model is to sell VNs that were fan translated and read years ago
>Conpany does poorly
Wow what a surprise

Its expected for them not to die with Japan sales alone. Foreign sales are a bonus and amount to next to nothing most of the time.

Have the seiyuus give free blowjobs to the customers

Yeah even what they do deliver is fucking garbage because they simply lack the competence.
Nothing they have done in-house has turned out decent, because in-house they've got no talent. And when it comes to contractors they're just to stingy or otherwise mess up their project somehow through their incompetence anyway.
I mean for Grisaia they contracted Koestl to work on it, and his ability is without a doubt legitimate. That did in no way prevent Sekai Project from handling the project absolutely terribly though. The same has happened at other times when they've actually contracted somehow actually able to translated. It still doesn't prevent them from fucking it up.

Voice actors and marketing teams are a growing cancer eating up all the budget and skyrocketing sales expectations. Keep that shit under control, maybe even remove them from your games if necessary.

Attached: 99bfb0c070c0cc8ed39a322649f2c90d.jpg (401x365, 106K)

Oh, so I take it those physical copies a lot of those Kickstarters they started never got made then?

Sounds like gross incompetence, and not being able to handle the resulting complaints professionally.

JUST. LET. IT. DIE.

Attached: LET IT DIE.jpg (593x637, 27K)

How well did 25W even sell anyway? Both Silver Case remasters seemed more like personal projects than something Suda expected to sell well.

Character of the year, all years.

Attached: 20180908192451_1.jpg (2560x1440, 373K)

>Voice actors
This. Literally not needed in games like VN's and RPGs.

Fuck man unless its super good AAA writing and story, a lot of times I prefer no voices.

>give each character dozens, or even hundreds of endings
Mass Effect 3 style?

SC sold like 1000 copies and was considered a success, so I don't think it mattered

>>write interesting stories
besides your post being absolute trash, this takes the cake

>just make better gaems duh

Attached: animepus.jpg (750x743, 124K)

Attached: 1496232908913.png (1848x805, 239K)

You have to mix in game / puzzle elements like ace attorney and steins gate
No matter how good the story is most people just can't justify paying $40 to $60 for a picture book

Sekai Project is the company who single out killed and bought out most of fan-translations out of all publishers and whoever declines their offer they straight up harass and threaten them with a lawsuit.
If you are a newfag just search for Aroduc and Baldr Sky fiasco.
I don't even mind if a fan-translation group sells their work, but whenever Sekai Project buys it, they end up sitting on it for years (see Dracu Riot and other examples), release it with mosaics and unedited images 90% of the time. It's pretty much a scam where they buy it as cheap as possible (translation quality doesnt matter) and bundle it after 1-1.5 years for maximum profit.
Please don't support them.

They're also dying in japan tho so this is unrelated to translations

Steins;Gate had no game elements.

hey

Attached: IN11BL.png (368x553, 227K)

Yeah, so they prove themselves to be unprofessional, incompetent dickbags.
A shame so many VN's are tied to them now.

Nips have moved to gacha shit. VNs are a thing of the past

>How do we save Visual Novels?
The genre needs more originality. It's all moege and gacha now.
When was the last time we got something like FSN, S;G, or Muv-Luv?

VNs were what you did if you had a pc and no console. Nowadays japs are getting into pc gaming so vns became obsolete.

By making our own. I call our game studio "Yea Forums studio". How about it? I just need art. Other than that, I can handle making a generic vn.

I'll never understand what anyone finds good in copy pasted moeges. I can understand being in crippling depression and getting cheered up by one of them, but literally reading the same story in a different coating every month? What the shit

>saves Visual Novels
You're welcome Japan.

Attached: Doki%20Doki%20Literature%20Club[1].png (600x800, 422K)

WTC5 is coming this year

>generic
That's part of the problem.

They've been lying about their business partners too.
Pretty funny when Frontwing called them out on it, or when they completely lied about Purple Software to cover up their own shortcomings and lies only to get exposed afterwards.

Death Mark had puzzle elements and did terribly despite being one of the more fun titles in a while.

VNs are a dying breed. I remember an article on an H website that sells localized VNs that said it takes years to finish and is surprisingly expensive to develop. Most of the developers can't handle this and the company goes under. The golden age ended with Little Busters

Most of them are either ironicshit or faggy dating sims, VN are still a huge niche on the west and the average weaboo doesn't care about them

It's a full sex game, but Rance 6 is a legitimate game and a legitimate and grand fantasy story. It's pretty amazing.
Would play without the porn, but the porn is splendid too.

>but literally reading the same story in a different coating every month?
Works for manga and LNs.

you're not welcome reddit.

You don't get it user. The choices will matter. And I'll make it relatable while also be a self-insert power trip. Maybe references and memes. I just need art user. Please.

Does a manga volume cost 80$? You could buy an entire saga with that money.

Be Uchikoshi

>When was the last time we got something like FSN, S;G, or Muv-Luv
Subahibi, Chaos;Child, 25th Ward and 428 Shibuya are all unique visual novels that came out during last 1.5 years that I'd rate from "great" to "awesome". I don't think any of them sold well (with the exception of C;C which had actual marketing).

>Subahibi, Chaos;Child, 25th Ward and 428 Shibuya are all unique visual novels that came out during last 1.5 years
It should be fucking illegal to be both an EOP and this braindead.

You’re talking about translations, those games have been released for years. I think he is asking if the Japanese vn industry actually released anything amazing in recent times

isn't subahibi pretty old?

25th ward is from 2005, 428 was 08, subahibi was 2010. So it's pretty new, compared to the other games on that fucking list of idiocy.

Kill gachas and mobile in general, companies like type moon move to it because it seems to be a lot easier to fleece whales with a few pngs than make a huge and long vn

428 and The 25th Ward are even older. Those games are all old.

The biggest issue is the market moved on. Talented writers would rather write LNs or something with far bigger potential markets.
Gachashit drains the wallet of otaku meaning they might not want to drop 10000 moonshekels on the game, especially if it’s something “risky” enjoyment wise.

25th is a remake that's over twice the length of the original, to be fair

My main issue with VN's at the moment is that all the ones I'm interested are in development and have been for years, with very little news on how it's going or when to expect a release.

Some of them it's been almost a decade with the only update being "we're still working on it" every 10 or so months. Which baffles me, because I know authors and artists that churn out much more work in far less time. At a higher quality as well.

It's a frustrating as fuck type of media to be a fan of.

>How do we save Visual Novels?
By adding more H, I only play eroge because I know that no matter how long i wait, I'll get a reward in return anyway.

If it takes all those companies to die then i will gladly exchange their existence for sekai projects bankruptcy.
Sadly, that ain't happening. One can only hope that everything they touch turns to ashes.

Fuck those assholes.

This exactly
There should be ero in every VN
People who dont want the ero should just have a click box to disable it

Make porn, more porn. Sakura Sakura was awful

Make more lolige.

Attached: 5fccc82999dc2842c24e74699f9c7af2.jpg (1500x2108, 678K)

This has very little to do with market. It's exactly the same as all the western devs doing the same thing, have one hit game, overextend and hire too many employees looking to upscale then realize you were a one hit wonder.

>Ever17 and Remember11 both have scenes where male MC gets molested
>Fade to black
Very annoyong

It’s going to be hard. Shit like LNs have such a low barrier to entry when all you need is a writer, illustrator for a few images, and an editor. With VNs you have to get a lot more images, they tend to have far longer scripts, have voice acting, soundtracks, etc.

Worked for type moon, even today the fate gravy train keeping rolling

Did they make more VN after fate? They never even finished the Tsukihime remake afaik.

Some visual novels do well, too well in fact which end up influencing other developers to jump in and copy them for a quick buck.
Nekopara old 1 million copies alone and has been one of the main reasons why Sekai Project still hasn't gone bankrupt despite them fucking up one titles after another.

Cheap meme visual novels which are being sold for 10$ or less seem to be the future of this medium, while full fledged high budget titles flop one after another.

Attached: succ.jpg (643x861, 83K)

Yeah but for every Type moon there's probably 10 studios than released a handful of vns and had to break up later.

>acen2019
Which panel, I'll be there

The only lamentable thing on this image is dias irae.

Attached: 1553730611946.png (1000x480, 157K)

The last VN they released was Witch on the holy night in 2012 which supposedly had more parts planned but only released one.

I didn't know Kyonyuu Fantasy got translated

I really liked Fata Morgana. Any other VNs like it?
Not interested in Umineko.

Attached: CPHKxu_UsAEktgF.jpg (707x1000, 143K)

Let russians do it
youtube.com/watch?v=O0luadioiQk

I have a feeling RPG Maker eroge do better than many VNs nowadays.🐡

store.steampowered.com/app/615530/Love_Money_RocknRoll/

Depend, but there sure a lot of those lately but more than half of them are honestly bad. I like the ones with multiple events with continuation that led to an ending. For example "meet chad event1, chad event2, etc Chad ending" then other "orc1 orc2, orc3 Princess of orcs ending" I absolutely dislike singular scenes not conected and mostly by losing.

I will take any recomendation.

Is their new game looking to be any good?

Don't know about story, but visuals are good.

They are translating it by the original Japanese release date one after another, but Sideboob Story seems to be a huge flop, didn't even make it in their Top 10 chart, so the future of the series doesn't look good.

Attached: Capture.jpg (1199x395, 62K)

what did you like in fata morgana?

>but Sideboob Story
R.I.P.
That one and the franchise at large is legitimately great.

baby first meta

You can't.
The Japanese audience is too busy with gacha games and the English audience only cares about meme ones the big YouTubers are playing like Hatoful Boyfriend and DDLC.

>Sekai Project
Maybe don't burn bridges with one of the big VN makers and release shitty products whilst refusing to fix them

They should stop with all the if shit and literally give every girl a route from the start, if it sell well a fandisc with more. But the default games are always lacking of events.

>recommendation
Ask /hgg2D/. But it sounds like you want Arms Devicer (Deceiver?) and Lust Grimm.

I mean, no shit sherlock, if your entire genre can be all done in Python, it becomes a rush to see whose art and storytelling is the best, and if your art and storytelling was up to snuff you'd be in a different industry dabbling into this one for "creative flexing" as oppose to a starving newcomer trying to make bank 100% on this format.

I pirated it but ended up enjoying it so much that I bought it on their own site so that they get the 30% cut from steam.
I can't recommend it enough for people who are looking for a nukige with an actual decent plot.
Pirate it and see for yourself.

I'll probably buy it at some point, I enjoyed the hentai anime for the first one. It's still one of the only few hentai that's so good that I can go back and rewatch it so I can only imagine how good the VN is.

From what little I saw from the demo, it looks fantastic. Didn't finish it though, want to save as much as possible for the full version.

Art style, music, suffering, twists, the way the plot is neatly wrapped up.
I also liked how fucked up the characters/relationships are while still being somewhat believable.

Attached: Nellie.Rhodes.full.2412534.jpg (1433x2048, 340K)

How do we save EVNs? It's all BL and meme games.

Isn’t it sort of best VNs remain in a niche area? I mean you want it to be large enough to sustain the industry and get translations but look at say modern anime and anime fans or even what DDLC brought in.

It's kind of amusing that the western VNs of the best quality are German and Russian respectively.

>German

inb4 "That"

>Russian VN
Yeah, about that.

Attached: онегин vn.jpg (400x400, 22K)

is unironically great.

Anime is easier to get and to consume. Crunchyroll surpassed 2 million paying subscribers last year and continues to grow, same goes for LNs.
I doubt that most people want to sit and click through 10-15 hours of a picture book with sounds. Visual novels were and still are going to be niche.

Yeah the core playership will always there. VNs provide a gap between LNs and anime, imo VNs are the best format.
You get the length of a LN combined with voice actors, full illustrations, animations, and music. But the time investment and commitment for doing multiple routes is very large and most people simply dont care enough.

Crunchy shouldn't be relevant in nipland.

YU-NO was a fucking smash hit upon its initial release in Japan.

There's something really comfy about VNs, kinda wish some LNs got VN adaptions.

Remove all western visual novels/publishers

Utaware 2-3.
Raging Loop is pretty epic too and probably the only good VN candidate I can think of.

Sasasagu is a nice one, but I don't think it would rank too highly.

Here's to hoping Anonymous;Code would be good. It might come out this year and latest next year.

Also kinda curious about Eve rebirth terror.

Death Mark actually did okay (said by then). The western sales made it good even, think it shipped 100k or something.

Same, a VN adaptation of a really good LN series would be godlike

>It's kind of amusing that the western VNs of the best quality are German and Russian respectively.
Are you implying non-western visual novels have better writing than western games? Because that would be absurd.

Besides, there is already a western equivalent for visual novels: adventure games, and comparing the two doesn't reflect particularly well on visual novels to put it mildly:

western adventure games
>exploration, puzzle solving, character interaction, fully voice acted
>between games like Loom, Gabriel Knight and Grim Fandango, has some of the best writing in all of vidya

japanese adventure games (aka visual novels)
>no real gameplay, just walls of text with static anime backgrounds about some sexually inexperienced teenager being awkward around a variety of eager women

Attached: 1489271c5641f8914ba41acd36755c5e4d7c6cb00725148639e100e7741543cd.jpg (554x554, 87K)

Also played Judgement 7 and World End syndrome, nice but really not up to par with the greats.

Just remembered another huge potential, 13 Sentinels, ridiculously high production values but I'm afraid the story might be a complex mess.

Attached: PS Communities_20190317_001025.jpg (3840x2160, 853K)

I hope 13 sentinels will actually come out and not kill vanillaware.

Why say this when the OP only shows one company being a chuuni dev and the rest are moege devs?

We can include point and click adventure games if you'd like, and yeah there are great western made adventure games and I like or even love a ton of them. But don't act like I said that non-western visual novels have better writing than western games because I clearly did not say that.

Japan does point and click adventure too though and many of them are amazing in their own right.

The vita version was fucking cancelled. I hate it! I hate it!
Ahhh!!!!!!!!!!

Attached: herkz is a lying scumbag and sekai-project are shit.png (1438x1047, 173K)

Are you talking about in Japan or in the west? Because if it's the latter Aksys can get fucked for censoring it and not making any mention of it prior to release.

>But don't act like I said that non-western visual novels have better writing than western games because I clearly did not say that.
Then what did you say? The problem with visual novels is two-fold. Not only do they rely way too much on rather uninspired anime tropes, but the story is completely disconnected from the "gameplay". The best video game stories are those that integrate gameplay and narrative. Adventure games do a much better job with this because your character is actually physically actiev in the world, exploring and gathering clues and overcoming obstacles.

>Japan does point and click adventure too though
Such as?

Attached: 1549152541649.jpg (1200x1386, 118K)

pedos

What's more annoying is how Hirameki completely butchered their other games like Tea Society of a Witch or that SRPG one I can't recall the name of. I'm glad they died.

RIP vita

Kyonyuu Fantasy has shit art. There, I said it.

>herkz is a piece of shit
The earth is round and the sky is blue, too. Big surprise.

It was funny but it was also basically "Strawman Arguments: The Game". Great soundtrack though.

>Crunchyroll surpassed 2 million paying subscribers last year and continues to grow
I wish people had standards.

>Then what did you say?
That it's kind of amusing that the western VNs of the best quality are German and Russian respectively.
VNs. Not videogame stories. Perhaps there is a point in criticizing my distinction of it all, but let's not warp what I said.

>>Japan does point and click adventure too though
>Such as?
Well YU-NO was already mentioned earlier in the thread but I'll second that because YU-NO is truly amazing.
But in its writing and its visuals not to mention music. And you click on just about every object in the entire game in order to some thoughts on it or to trigger an event, even if it's some obscure thing like a largely irrelevant background object behind in some corner. And you can click on most of everything multiple times in order to get further expanded text on it. There is a ton of text in the game really and it really does help to flesh out the world immensely, and it really is commendable just how much text and work they put into things that aren't even relevant just because it might satisfy some players' curiosity.
This goes for the main story branches too though, with there being tons of various variations to them big or small depending on your prior choices or actions. It's an extremely elaborate game with a neat story and amazing production values.

Shame about how painfully rushed the finale was, and how the remake did nothing to fix that.

What VNs are you reading right now?
Why is the Opening song so good?

Attached: header (3).jpg (460x215, 72K)

Granblue has more story than probably every VN ever made.
There's so much dialogue and lore to read its fucking insane. The only thing it lacks is actual choice and romance options.

Just because it has words doesn't mean it's good

But it is good

>Shame about how painfully rushed the finale was
Yeah it really was. Supposedly they were running out of budget, were close to having to shut down their entire studio and all be out of jobs. They rushed the ending to save themselves.
I mean it's still amazing, but the latter part was still planned to be as elaborate as the former part. It just never was.
>and how the remake did nothing to fix that.
This, for real. Like I'll admit that i'd be really skeptical of going back and doing such large changes/additions to such an old title, especially if the team is different. But at the very least I'd appreciate the effort and it would have great potential. What's more it would set itself apart from the original.

The remake as it is now just leaves me very iffy about the whole thing. Like I am sure it's still great, I just don't really see why one wouldn't just go for the original.

Zero escape was more of a game than the other two.

Germany does adventure games too.

Attached: 1446842430275.gif (600x518, 3.34M)

The remake as it is now is just the same story as the original but with way worse art and nothing actually going for it or warranting it being remade outside of an engine update.

Make them take a more serious approach and not focus only on wish fullfilment .

Deponia was terrible.

I like it.

Fpwp

They already do that with games like kamidori.

Elf tried to do some kino shit and it ended up the same

>Be the only genre that could really take full advantage of massive branching storylines that dramatically alter the course of the game.
>Make a linear story with less choice then a fucking telltale.

Stop doing this shit.

Aokana is dead? What?

I swear there are other devs that did what they went under for and are fine today.

Is Sekai Project an American or Japanese company? This reeks of America.

Disbanded for mobageshit.

American.

Elf went under because after YU-NO they went and made some love VN which was actually a falsely advertised bait and switch NTR which ruined their reputation and then they made nothing but NTR after that until they died.

Exactly what I meant. There's other VN makers that are still alive after just doing NTR.

Only surprising thing in that image is Minori shutting down. Don't know if they started spending too much on their VNs after dropping Supipara and the success of Natsuzora no Perseus, but it probably doesn't matter in the end anyways since Yazuna is going to be immediately snapped up by another big company anyways.

Dev studios shutting down in the VN industry is a regular occurrence, don't know what people are worried about. Also, the industry would be better off if Sekai Project died, not sad to see those layoffs.

Attached: 8736254097.jpg (800x1143, 133K)

Utawarerumono was fun, but its story seriously suffered from the gameplay.

They even lied and tried to claim that Frontwing didn't want an 18+ release in the west and that they were averse to localizing 18+ content at all.
Which is made more disgusting by the fact that Frontwing at the time had literally no English speaking staff, with Sekai Project themselves being Frontwing's only window to the western market. So they couldn't even tell that Sekai Project was lying about them.

Of course this all imploded a couple of years later when Frontwing decided to open up an in-house localization studio with its own English speaking staff.
Said staff quickly noticed and realized that Sekai Project, their previous English partners, had been lying about them, and Frontwing cut all ties with Sekai Project the very same year.
Contracts kept Grisaia in Sekai Project's hands for some time longer since they had the publishing rights to those games, but Frontwing tried cut it all short and succeeded with even that. So now Sekai Project has got nothing to do with Frontwing and Frontwing certainly doesn't want to have anything to do with Sekai Project anymore either.
The games are up on the store of Sekai Project's competitors though, plural.

One problem with studios shutting down is that it complicates the rights for any potential western localisations. MangaGamer looked into May-Be Soft but couldn't get the rights to their releases after they shut down, for example.

Kara no Shoujo 3 when? It's beginning to look like that it'll be the last kamige alongside Sakuuta 2 and maybe WTC5.

>MangaGamer looked into May-Be Soft but
W-what? For real?
We could have gotten the Henshin series localized if things just weren't so damn fucked? Fuck!

Yeah. And they only shut down like half a year before MG tried to reach out to them.

>One problem with studios shutting down is that it complicates the rights for any potential western localisations

Yeah, it does suck for EOPs for sure. But in the actual VN landscape a development studio shutting down doesn't really mean shit since the artists and maybe scenario writers are the only reason japs buy the studio's games. Only exception is studios like Dieselmine, Miel, Appetite, etc. that survive off pumping out tons of low-budget nukiges with no consistent artists.

It does generally mean that the artists and writers end up going their separate ways, if nothing else.

>WTC5
It's been delayed only once, from this winter to this summer.

I'm still fucking mad they bought Teaching Feeling rights for the West and never did anything with it and got the main translator off the fan project because they hired him. The fuck was the point then?

Sca Ji looks nothing like what I thought he'd look like

By focusing on the novel part, and not the visual part.

How'd you imagine him?

That separation from the studio does give some artists and writers a good chance to make a name for themselves with a new studio though. I don't recall too many people talking about Piromizu's work until he/she got hired from Astronauts to the (at the time) new Azarashi Soft.

Then Amakano happened and I'm sure Piromizu gets to charge top dollar for his/her services now.

So what happens to things like Supipara now? Just dead and gone? I was kind of interested in seeing at least a third part to that series, what with the unfinished mystery going on and all.

I'm not really sure, actually. Just not like that. It's like the people on the radio; you don't really think about their appearance, but when you actually see it, it doesn't really line up with your mind anyway.

>Nips have moved to gacha shit. _____ are a thing of the past
I feel like this is true for too many things

>So what happens to things like Supipara now?

Unless someone picks up the rights for it and manages to wrangle back the original artists and writers as well, you can expect it to be dead or for it to make a return but shittier. To be honest, it really didn't deserve all the effort it got put into it anyways, it wasn't nearly as good as their other stuff.

I feel you. I followed Teaching Feeling too and it was great what was being done. But then you know. Yeah.
It's classic Sekai Project though. Seriously fuck them.

muramasa was the last great plot VN and that released in 2009

actually, tokyo necro was alright too, but pretty cheesy

Is that my boy Nasubi? What game is this?

this. I was reading Tsukihime the other week and it's amazing the lack of VA made little to no difference. If a VN sells well without VA it can be a bonus they could add in later. No need to spend money from the onset.

How shit is Sekai's Muv-Luv Alternative?

428 Shibuya Scramble.

they only bought up the team halfway through the project so its alright.

It's mostly a bunch of fans instead of anyone actually working at sekai project

Umineko is not even interactive. Just read a book, fag.

A book doesn't have music or sound effects. Umineko is a sound novel.

Is it possuble to have this horrible of taste?

It is.

Visual novels suck because reading is gay

I highly recommend it for those who haven't played it. It's incredible even with a certain character dragging it down.

What's the best western VN, then?

Which character?

Crystalline

If you haven't played it, it's a spoiler. If you're asking as someone who's played the game: Every single thing about Canaan is retarded, and not in a fun way. Although the whole switcharoo was actually pretty clever. I guess I should say characterS. I didn't even bother finishing her scenario.

I love the plot and setting, never been a fan of harems but I just want to keep reading it, hell I even skip most of the H-scenes
Also pretty sure it was top of the chart when they released on mangagamer website.
Anyway when they release 2 and if they put a bundle I will buy them now that I'm wagecucking.

Second favorite ML character.
