Come now. There's different ways you can use the same tools. But you are right that they've overstayed their welcome.

Could just make Vergil a one weapon pony and sextuple his available moves with styles to make him a hybrid between the two philosophies of Nero and Dante. That'd be good enough because it'd offer a near unreachable amount of flexiblity. More so if they give him a proper normal DT and let him have SDT or, failing that, allow him some degree of direct control over doppelganger to not only raise the ceiling but launch it into orbit.

Of course that's all just wishlist shit. I'll be happy with what I've got and patiently await the inevitable special edition re-release on the playstation 5 and the xbox260X

Honestly NAngelo was always a pleasure to fight. He has guts and honor, extremely comfy bossfights. He's almost like Dante's reflection. Three fights and he became a sworn brother to me.

Fury is easier than Blitz imo simply because 5 gives you more options for dealing with an enemy like that. Royal Revenge and Ragtime somewhat trivialize them. I still prefer Fury though, he's far more interesting.

I people have their problems with 2, but my issues with 1 stem from most of my issues with Kamiya games where, I feel like enemies require too much set up to damage and encounters sometimes take too long. The turtle enemies from W101 are prime example of this to me, all that set up with the counters, shield, to use one very specific attack and I gotta do it maybe three more times. It's tedious.

I like Bayonetta 1's basic combat but my issue is with everything else - 'cinematic' bosses and QTEs show Kamiya's love for GoW and it just really brings the game down and there's so much shit that takes away from combat like puzzles and jumping sections. First I played was 4 because I got it cheap in a steam sale. Berial was pretty easy but that's mostly because I was playing on Human difficulty since it literally said that was for players new to the series in the description of it. I didn't realize it was actually easy mode until much later when I started going through the rest of the series.

Zack's character as in his role in CC was fanfiction version of what SE wanted to do with Sephiroth instead. They decided not to go with SephiorthxAeirs/th route because they thought it would be too much if Sephiroth killed his former lover.
They also planned to make Sephiroth and Aeris/th siblings, originally as well. Which also got scrapped for the same reason as "lovers" thing.

Puzzles for hidden items only I agree, but I think platforming is fine. It's reflex-driven and can be done stylishly and quickly, it makes sense as a way of building engagement into the hallways between fights and breaking up the gameplay. It's also character-appropriate for a super-stylish action-hero protag to be running on walls and flipping between laser beams and stuff, it's fitting from a presentation standpoint. James Bond doesn't casually jog down the halls of an enemy base waiting for the next shootout, he steals a Ferrari and drives it off a ramp into a window. Jet Li has to wire-run up at least one vertical surface in every movie, it's in his contract.

The problem is that action games tend to have dogshit movement controls that make platforming clunky and un-fun, and DMC is one of the worst offenders when it comes to this. Bayonetta is pretty stiff to move too but she has the panther mode to make it more bearable.

The twins' baseline strength is just THAT impressive, Vergil's been more focused on seeking out power-boosts (Force Edge, Nelo Angelo against his will, Urizen/the demon fruit) while Dante's been getting stronger just through his own progression. More or less Vergil would have had the power he wanted if he'd just been willing to train like Dante did, but even he acknowledges he's been short-sighted and singleminded.

Sonething similar happened in a fighting game (don't remember which) where as soon as tiers started being elaborated western players started begging for a patch while eastern players would just work with the tools they were given before giving conclusions about tiers.
