What's the benefit of launcher anyway? Do people actually launch their game via steam/epic etc? Isn't clicking the desktop shortcut enough to launch the game? You can also sort out your game via creating a folder to categorize them. It doesn't even clog your desktop since you can create a folder for your games.

The upside to using tools like Playnite is that you dont have to remember under which of the 10 different launcher you own what game and it integrates all your Emulators into the list as well.

This serves the same purpose as Kodi. Yeah you can manage your videos yourself, but now you can have a netflix-like interface sourcing files from your computer. If they get a big picture like mode working (kindof like retroarch), you could make a neat gaming box that doesn't require a KB+M.

Also every music player has some way to sort through your music, when you could easily sort through it yourself and open up individual mp3s. Adding an interface for something you could do in a file browser and some shortcuts isn't new.

You have a movie/tv folder, you put your shit in it in individual folders or just by themselves, and when you want to watch something you just scroll through. Same with music, make folders for artists, add albums or just individual tracks inside.

It's a perfectly working system. Maybe there are spergs out there who want a tagging system, which takes forever if you aren't just getting your tags from someone else, but most of these interfaces aren't even properly set up for tag importing. I just don't understand the point of this shit, do you think form is more important than function or something?

I set up a Kodi box so I can just plug in a controller and go through my collection like netflix all without succumbing to botnet or streaming. I like that we have the option.

You can set up a folder full of shortcuts to all your games if you prefer. I can use this steam-like program instead. Also if it has a big picture mode that can launch kodi and retroarch, as well as other games I've installed, then my media box can become fully operable with a controller. Though there's probably something out there that already does this that I've missed.

If you want to play fortnite just open the epic launcher as your own redundant launcher would also do. Jesus christ what brand of autism is this

Well that's not strictly true actually, the other reason it would make sense is if you're a NEET who plays video games all day and need to stare at video games to help you decide what game you're gonna play for the next 30 minutes before going back to staring at the list again.

You do not need the gog client installed period to play said game. You just open the .exe and it loads the game instead of any associated client.
