God of War, Horizon, Spider-Man, Bloodborne are all PS exclusives. Final Fantasy VII, Last of Us 2, Days Gone, Death Stranding are all only on Sony platforms for at least a few years, and most likely PS5 launch titles. They don't care if some Quantic Dream games that didn't sell and Mary Skelter 2 (literally any person who even knows what this game is is absolutely never going to reproduce, their bloodline ends with them) are no longer on their platform, they're the scraps that fall off their table that the dogs like Nintendo and Epic have to scramble for just to fill the gap in their stomachs.
It's just such a basic formula that no one gets

That's a good point but the context is different in some ways. Kojima and Sakurai are friends and Kojima was begging for Snake's inclusion since Melee. This time around, Nintendo made a list of pre-approved DLC characters for Sakurai to chose 5 final characters from. That alone makes my suspect that Nintendo is getting something out of Joker's inclusion, because that's very smart marketing. After all, as much as I love Bayonetta, it's obvious that on some part she was chosen for Smash 4's final slot mostly to sell more copies of Bayonetta 2 (which did happen).
None of those Sold more then 5 Million copies on the PS4, the highest on that list was MHW with 4.6 Million. FFXV is the only JRPG to sell over 5 Million copies on the PS4. NieR Automata for comparison sold 1.7 Million
