This is the first time I've legitimately been disappointed with a new Smash character reveal. Zero hype, I couldn't possibly care less about this character and it lowered my expectations for the rest of the fighters significantly and P5 isn't even on the fucking Switch, so many more deserving and interesting Nintendo characters are out there, this was a fucking stupid choice.

Not a good character to start with, or to even have in the game in the first place. We don't need more normal human anime characters with fucking swords unless they're named Isaac just fucking stop already.

Klonoa! Wahoo! Other than that, Geno, someone from Bravely (I don't care if it's Agnes, Ringabel, Tiz, or Edea), and maybe Quote from Cave Story, don't really care about who the fourth one could be, so maybe Tails to make this user happy

See I’m conflicted, because while this makes sense, it’s almost a given that we’ll get a character at e3, which means that by mid-June we’ll have 3 of the 5 fighters known with roughly 8 months to go. It’s possible, and they’ve done it before, but it seems like that would create a HUGE drought. If 3.0 actually has a lot in it that could hold people over, I could see us not getting a reveal until e3.

Joker isn't fucking getting in. He's vaporware. We still haven't seen ANY gameplay. Joker is the Star Citizen of Smash Bros.

That's what scares me.
But, 2 reveals at E3 makes sence too.. I'm open to the idea that we're getting the N2 this month and N3 + Misc. DLC character at E3 tho.

It's not like that would be unprecedented. If I remember correctly, they demonstrated gameplay footage for Cloud the same direct where they revealed Corrin and Bayonetta.
He just got revealed far earlier than anticipated. It took them a couple of months to release Piranha Plant, so it's fine. At this point they do have to show the next character soon, probably even before releasing Joker.

I think it’s certainly possible #2 gets revealed this month, especially given that Brave’s stats are already in the game (implying they are further along relative to Joker’s development). If that is the case, I’d like to think Nintendo would at least have some good DLC in the off period to hold people over, but we’ll see. Here’s to hoping.

Frankly, I feel like #2 is guaranteed to get revealed this month. I think it's borderline shocking that we haven't got more Smash Bros. info by now in fact, the game's been out for four months now and you figure they'd have more to say on the DLC, keep the hype train rolling and all that. If they don't show info this month for some bizarre reason, I'd say it's guaranteed to be pushed back to E3 and we'll probably hear about #2 and #3

P5 may have been successful for a JRPG but no one knows who the fuck Joker is in the west outside Persona fans. He's not Cloud, he's not recognizable at all, he was a very poor choice for a first reveal especially since the reveal was at a western event. It significantly lowered my expectations for the rest of the characters, I haven't even bought the pass yet and Id on't know if I even will if the rest of the characters are going to be nothing but Japan-pandering anime crap I don't care about.

I have no idea why people think gritty, western characters with photo-realistic art direction will ever be considered for Smash. Snake is the closest we've come to that and even he's fairly stylized in comparison and doesn't use actual guns.

And how would Mister Chef he even play? Most of his moves would involve him using various guns and just shooting the shit out of everyone, same for Doomguy, somehow I don't see Sakurai or the Smash team going for that.

And if we do get Doomguy, it'll be a re-imagined, retro-stylized version of the original character from the original games like the fake Mach Rider leaks, not the character from the gory, photo-realistic 2016 remake.

Goemon's definitely a never ever, but Wright is viable I think. I'd actually prefer Edgeworth, but Phoenix is obviously more iconic and the face of the franchise

Dunno, Kratos seems like a really likely candidate for me despite being a gritty western character. The dude is insanely popular.

I made as good a stage as I could in Brawls creator. Mixed up the block colors, had one fall away if you stood on it too long, had the right side where the score and blocks appear with spikes at the bottom. Was fun getting stuck inside near the bottom cause you'd bounce around like crazy. A real actual stage with constant falling blocks would be fantastic.

I think even the new modern Doomguy would work just fine. He could just be an alt skin. He's got a lot of melee abilities with the close up finishers, his guns are almost cartoon-tier as is with how gory and over the top brutal they are. A chainsaw is no big deal with how many sword characters are already there. Super shotgun could be a big conal blast that does good damage right in your face but a distance less so. Possibly good for stopping projectiles too depending. Maybe give it a reload animation to make up for that?

I mean, I think "relevancy" does kinda factor a bit. Sakurai said that characters without a future are rarely chosen. That's why someone like Isaac is only an AT inspite of his popularity.

I don't really like Persona leapfrogging SMT either but technically speaking Joker can rep both as long as they give him alternate Personas iconic to either series, like Jack or Alice.
