As I remember it, Egg-1, Dry Bomber, and R.O.B. BLS were pretty equal
Dry Bomber was the undisputed best at snaking, Egg-1 had more speed, and BLS had much more speed at the cost of worse snaking/acceleration/handling

His weight class has the best speed across the board in the game along with Bowser & Heavy Mii. He is the shortest of the 3, making the Field of View larger/better when playing as him.

I am almost certain the Egg 1 was equal or greater, even with snaking. It was just that Dry Bomber had a longer mini-turbo duration than the Egg 1, requiring less strict upkeep.
