V might make up some aspects of Vergils personality, but his demon side clearly transforms them to the point where they are hard traits to recognize in Vergil

The entire point of V is that he's Vergil forced to acknowledge how foolish his lust for power is. You see Vergil as a changed man at the end of the game but the change happened as soon as he became V. He may act differently based on his situation but he's still Vergil.
