What Halo games are you most excited for in MCC on PC? For me its 2 and 3

2 and 3 personally. Reach too, but to a far lesser extent. Maybe CE if the multiplayer ends up being populated.

I, for one, am not excited for what is one of the dullest franchises in the history of FPS franchises. Seriously each episode following the space marine and his pals from the UNSC as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the slow gameplay, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of mechanics, all to make movement molasses, to make bullets seem magnetic.

Perhaps the die was cast when Bungie vetoed the idea of Apple funding the series; they made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for directx. The Halo series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-Perfect Dark series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to with 343i.

The level design is dreadful; the single player was terrible. As I played, I noticed that every time I went for a walk, the designer instead put an un-involved corridor in my path.

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time a corridor was encountered. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Bungie's mind is so governed by cliches and flat topography that they have no other style of gameplay. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Halo by the same Jason West. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are playing Halo at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to play Call of Duty." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you play "Halo” you are, in fact, trained to play Call of Duty.

not only is CE free, but its been free for so long that the entire game has been remastered by fans

3 will be cool but 2 is better so I'll just keep playing that.

There's tons of graphical glitches like the Jackal shields not changing colour as they get damaged and the weapon reload animations being 12 FPS when the game runs at 60

When are they gonna add a cutoms browser?

I remember when I was like eight years old and Halo 1 was one of the only PC games I had that could run on our shitty computer that could only run older games. I remember I somehow got Halo: Custom Edition running and how much fun I had screwing around with really shitty old maps, to this day I still remember maps like Hugeass, Extinction, Secrets of Egypt and even more I can't remember the names of. That was more than a decade ago now.
Anyone else remember Halo Custom Edition, or is it just me?

All of them. I have the most fond memories of 2 though, I never played 3 and forward.

i'll probably only care about any of them if they up the server limit from 8 players.

1 so i can finally play co-op on pc

Reach flighting for Xbone coming "in the next few weeks" according to Ske7tch, followed promptly by the PC flighting.

Some genius at my high school worked out you could get the game to play off a USB and that it worked over the school network, so there were dozens of servers just on our school network, any class in the computer rooms were filled with people playing Halo and teachers losing their shit, me and my little bro who already played the game religiously at home would destroy at it when we were on the same server. People would keep asking who we were, god I miss it.

Pretty much exclusively Reach.

Going back to vanilla CE will be alright, but id rather just play Yoyorast Island or Coldsnap again.
2 has had a resurgence of custom maps recently and MCC wont have them which sucks.
We've already had 3's forge/customs with ElDewrito with a shit ton of features that the MCC version wont have.
4 is only remembered for having crazy custom games and maps which were made using JTAG/RGH consoles and uploaded to the fileshare, MCC wont have them so that entire game is going to be dead.

People have been """""making""""" (Downloading the installers off whatever site be it torrent or megaupload) USB versions of old games for fucking years whether it was Quake, Starcraft, Warcraft 3 or CounterStrike. You werent cool, you werent unique, the fact that you're talking about Custom Edition and "high school" means that you're one of the underage faggots that spam any halo discussion with pictures of "LOL WE'RE HAVING A LAN PARTY AT OUR SCHOOL XD"
