I mean, it is true that a lot of people that critique art (Especially on DeviantArt) don't know the first thing about art and probably couldn't inform you of or express the importance of composition, but trying to say that everyone that critique's art is only doing it to boost their own egos is complete and utter bullshit. If you look through the rough, you can and will find people that are genuinely trying to help others, and if someone that genuinely wants to improve asks you for advice, the least you can do is provide something that they can take away from it. But every artist is different and has their own work ethic, so something that works for one person might not necessarily work for another. Comics arent too complicated, sure they're a craft and you have to be knowledgable in them, but his biggest failure is because he absolutely will not bring any of the freshness or free spirit that he claims to have and defend. He's a bubble boy rattling against his cage, when he could easily just draw interesting things he sees, and write down things that make him laugh, instead of writing hundreds of comics about random slights, and whatever problem he isnt managing to get over that day.
