What improvements are you looking forward to for this game? The level design was weakest part of the game for me. It's just "fine" but they can do much better. Combat was already ridiculously good so they already have that down.

I'd really like better level design and some more enemy variety.
In an ideal world the game would have no loot treadmill either, since that was my least favorite part of the game, but I will live with it if they build upon the foundation of the original with more actual stuff to do and fight.
I thought Nioh's level design was good. Lots of routes and shortcuts. Maybe even too many shortcuts, but that too serves a purpose in co-op since if you spawn in late you can read the host's progress through the level and better approximate where they're at.
Keep all old enemies and create a bunch of new ones to make the enemy variety great.
Drop the diablo loot.

Yeah, they're not gonna get rid of the diablo system. It's ingrained into the franchise now.
more loot, more effects, more NG+'s, more abyss floors, invasion pvp, higher damage cap 999,999 is too small, improved living weapon movesets, more ninjutsu and onymo, and buff 2kat

Sekiro is a ninja, so Nioh is the better Samurai game
Nioh is much closer in design to the Dark Souls games than Sekiro, it’s not really a fair comparison. Also in Sekiro you’re a ninja not a samurai. In Nioh everyone calls you a Samurai but really you’re a weird samurai/shinobi hybrid who just does whatever he god damn pleases with no regard to honour or the bushido code.

The level design was fantastic, they simply need even more of it. The most important thing they need to do is fix the balance, ideally by reverting many system mechanics, values, enemy count and behaviour to properly place focus on learning and applying the core combat and to allow the multiple different tools to be just that, without eliminating the purpose of other parts of the game. The loot system needs very little changing, some superfluous effects should be replaced by more interesting ones, the inheritance system should be made more reliable as well as have a few more methods of easily guaranteeing graces etc., even if costly. Also Sloth should be removed and Electrified changed to Alpha Blustered effect, and remove Confusion's defence debuff.

Sekiro is more straightforward and satisfying visually and audibly while Nioh has more options and depth to it's combat mechanics. Play both.
