If a game is on both Epic and Steam, why should I choose to buy it from Epic? If you say it's because the game's publisher's get a larger percentage, you will have exposed yourself as a shill. I don't care how much money the publishers get. Give me an actual reason.

It really boils down to the point where do you want your money to go. If I was an american, I would prefer american platforms and I would gladly pay more if the money was for a local company. I've never given any money to Valve or EGS and never will, but I don't want to support chinese market in any way.
