Yeah, but one of them can redo literally every single action they make so that their path is the most optimal one they can make. Even if they die or cease to exist, they still have the ability to undo what ended them. All while changing how the world around them works.
Exactly, which is why Baba is simply unstoppable. But Slugcat's ability is pretty hard to counter, too. He can just switch to another universe by dying or just cross himself out of the whole thing.

I get you, but I don't think there's much of a connection between the character designs. I think they do take a few similar ideas (white is high contrast) but ultimately it's just that there's a fuckload of different vidya characters so of course some look similar.
