Feather always.

both

Mechanically, the cape is more interesting, and is therefore better

>A FUCKING LEAF

Feather no question

Leaf doesn't break the game like the feather

Feather. Looks and feels better in your ass.

Leaf for aesthetic. Feather for function.

*clips through the wall, somehow causing bowser to stop breathing fire*
heh, nothing personnel, gay bowser

>Turn into a furry
>Slowly float around like a fairy
>Hide from enemies like a pussy
OR
>Turn into a superhero
>Rocket through the skies like a cruise missile
>Bodyslam your foes from orbit
>A literal whirlwind of death
big think time

Feather 100%, what is even the argument for leaf besides just SMB3 fanboyism

>Leaf
>Aesthetic

Found the furfag.

Cape is way more fun to control.

>gay furry ears and tail that has an unreliable attack hitbox and gives you finger cramps
>stylish weather resistant cape capable of killing football players, flying with ease, and inflicting 7.9 Earthquakes

You have to be stupid to like leaf lol

Yeah, I don't why idiots at nintendo put the leaf instead of the feather in new super mario 2

Has the hammer suit ever appeared again?
That suit is almost everyone's favorite.

3>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>world

>get feather
>paraglide over every level without ever touching ground.

The cape is bad game design.

>you actually need to know how to paraglide instead of "RUN AND PUSH JUMBP BUTTON LMAO"
>there is a bunch of levels designed to destroy your ass if you abuse the cape in smw
dude
because its the same shit as the flower but better

I understand a leaf turning Mario into a tanuki, but why does a feather turn Mario into a superhero?

How is this any kind of contest? Feather is a million times better.

Hammer suit

feather for sure. feather lets you skip whole sections of the track and in the older games let you get out of bounds. all leaf does is protect your kart from shells for a few seconds.

Leaf: Better for air control, can reliably go up and down during the time limit. Also P-Meter helps to gauge when you can fly or not.

Feather: Great for flying long distances and attacking. Has to fly in a specific rhythm to keep air distance though.

the feather is overpowered

The cape would have been better, except it had no good level to make good use of it. The leaf basically let you cheat out of actually playing the levels properly, which weirdly enough was half the point of how everyone played old Mario games.

>not having self control

It wouldn't be if Nintendo didn't utterly disregard it in most of the level designs. Seriously, you'd think the feather wasn't the last thing they came up with.

>Intentional secrets are breaking the game

Back to the “It’s fun if you intentionally gimp yourself” argument. EXP share is that way

P-Balloon

haha

Cape is mechanically more interesting, but due to SMW level design, in most levels with the cape you can just fly over the whole thing. The leaf actually requires you to still play the level.

I like the leaf more but the way you worded that cracked me the fuck up.

>Turn into tanooki
>Get all the leaf powers
>And become FUCKING INVINCIBLE

Super Leaf is the best power-up and for people with good taste. Only casual capeshitters like the cape over Super Leaf.

>Mash a button to avoid playing the video game

>Control your momentum and angling to soar through levels with pinpoint precision and a laundry list of helpful but challenging mechanics to master.

I had an NES controller with automatic rapid-fire.

Games are defined by the rules set by the designer; if you have to make up your own additional rules to have fun, like not using certain facets of gameplay, it means the designer screwed up.

>I understand a leaf turning Mario into a tanuki

How does that make sense?

Raccoon suit. The cape sucks, its hard to learn, but then once you learn it it breaks the game and makes it not fun

You have to land at some point with the regular leaf. You can only fly indefinitely with the p-wing, which is why they're limited, because they're basically a "beat level free" ticket. That's why it's all the more stupid they looked past this and gave the feather the same ability to stay in the air indefinitely in SMW.

I feel as though a better comparison would be the Tanooki Suit rather than the leaf. The Feather just has so much more than the base leaf.
>Can fly indefinitely
>Can pound ground and effect nearby enemies
>Destroys projectiles
>Allows you to take a free hit when flying
The Suit only adds the ability to turn into stone, but that still has it's uses.
>Can take out Thwomps and other invincible enemies

Even then I'd still go with the feather.

Just in the sense of control and fun, cape is way better and interesting. If you're really good with it you can do some stuff that's satisfying as hell. You can swoop down and back up and gain height, turn around in mid air and keep going. Swooping around is just so damn fun. As far as actual use in their games, leaf is better. Like many others have said, cape can be easily exploited in Mario world. But that's not inherently the cape's problem, more the level design's problem.

Also, cape has the more badass sound effect.
