I don't shitpost mate, and I own a PS4, a Switch and a PC, I just wanted to express the opinion some of my friends have to add to the discussion.

Like it or not, Xenoblade 2 is a high-profile title for the Switch and the gameplay it offers is different enough from the rest of the Xenoblade series you're only going to get from it. How many other AAA 3D anime JRPGs have you seen running around with the level of quality and quantity Xenoblade 2 has?

The real issue is that it should be "If you own a PC and/or open mobile device, you can play every game". There's no point to consoles as platforms like that - they are locked down proprietary versions of off the shelf hardware, with a middleman shtting up everything.

Consoles were needed up through the Playstation 2 generation era, as ways to allow relatively affordable purpose built hardware for gaming. This was a time when PCs were hugely expensive and not very accessible for a variety of reasons, not to mention the lack of multiplatform engines and whatnot. The NES was $300 in late 80s dollars, but a gaming PC would have been thousands!

These days all we need is more focus on open source development, multiplatform engines, and varying PCs for gaming including "just play" it experiences like using Steam's Big Picture etc. To hell with middlemen who lock sthings down and make them cost more

There are some games only on PC or that play better on PC. Plus mods.

This is my problem with consoles, and a majority of digital stores as well. If I want to play my copy of Mario on a non-nintendo system, or mod it, or make a backup copy, suddenly Nintendo brings up their 500 page EULA about how I don't have any rights and that I have to abide by their laws. If I say something politically correct in a private chat, then sony bans my console and bricks it, so I can't play any games on it. You think owning a physical copy will protect you? Hah, you'll be buying a 500 dollar console all over again just so it isn't a paper weight.

I just want to be able to own my games without a company trying to take them away out of pure greed.

Modding comes from an age in which people didn't give a fuck about what the devs wanted since they already got their 50 bucks and it was about what was fun as a player. Mods can personalize your experience so a game can be truly yours, or they can even be an entirely new game as a whole built and mantained by a loving comunnity. Pretty much me. Buy a PS4 for Bloodborne and a Switch for MHGU, now both consoles are covered in dust since I'm already done with those games. There's nothing but movie games like HZD and GOW on PS4 and shallow toddlershit like Kirby SA and Yoshi CW on Switch. Just upgraded my graphic cards and bought some multiplats like RE2MAKE, DMC5, and Sekiro so really can't see myself booting up both consoles in the near future. 1. Not much time to play vidya
2. I hacked my Switch, so every game is free
3. I like nintendo games (tropical freeze, smash, zelda, those are my favorites); so, for me, nintendo exclusives > sony exclusives

I sold my ps4 because I wasn't playing anything on it, games are expensive, Uncharted 4 wasn't as good as the previous ones, dont care for its exclusives and I finished Nier Automata, the best game in this gen.

However the ps4 is a great system with great games
