It's both, kind of. The heart thing is about them being accepted, but the copy thing is pretty much what happened to them. So in a way the "original" Pyra/Mythra is gone, but it's not like that changes anything.

The game never elaborates on what the seal considers 'a Leftherian', so I don't see the problem with a kid who grew up there fitting whatever its requirements are.
I see the seal accepting Rex as less of a plot hole and more just evidence that it isn't a blood test like everyone seems to think it is.

She had only been with Torna for a couple of months or so, and had just seen them fucking murder an innocent kid (which wasn't exactly what she had signed up for).
And the reason she decided to keep travelling with Rex later on in Gormott was the same reason she had joined Torna in the first place - she had already gotten kind of attached, and was desperate for a place where she could belong. She wanted to believe that Elysium might be somewhere like that.

Because she had only recently been picked up by the group, and she ultimately did not share their beliefs and goals anyway. She only followed Jin, and specifically Jin, because he was the first person in a very long time to actually do anything to help her, and once Rex did the same for her she was able to look past the idol-worship and realize that Jin was using her and she would rather be with the rest of the party that actually cared about more than her physical well-being.

Music, battle system, world building are all pretty great but jeez its just ugly. I bought 2 already as well so I'm sticking with it, but please tell me it at least looks better.
