Flood repellent senpai

>Halo doesn't kill Flood. It kills their food. Humans, Covenant, whatever. We're all equally edible. The only way to stop the Flood is to starve them to death. And that's exactly what Halo is designed to do: wipe the galaxy clean of all sentient life.

Attached: 1543089310769.jpg (701x584, 127K)

They make for cool video game scenery. Fuck lorefags.

They're a gateway to the great journey

able to stop a grey goo event

if its a giant weapon why is there landmasses and an atmosphere on it?

But multiple characters say that they lead to the Great Journey?
This

Why makes the water blue?

don't listen to them, they are nothing but heretics

the sky

Whater is blue because fish blood is blue

t. prophet of "truth"

Why is fish blood blue?

shut the fuck up demon

because water is blue

death is kind of a great journey if you really makes yourself thonk about it

Don't you remember? It's God's own anti-son-of-bitch-machine

Makes for a perfect planet

Did we ever go to the edge of the ring in any of the games?

I thought it was a giant hula hoop

it fits nicely around my dick

no

I like the snek

Should I stop on Halo: Reach or continue to play 343 fanfiction?

Nope. Would probably just be an enormous wall

Why not just make a weapon that dose the opposite and only kills the flood? I mean, the flood are still just biological matter at the end of the day. If they can create a weapon that can target everything but flood they should be able to create a weapon that can target nothing but flood.

Stop. Halo 4 onwards is shit.

But it doesn't actually kill anything. It leads to the Divine Beyond! It is the gateway to the Great Journey!

Attached: 1548652135606.jpg (3072x1500, 3.13M)

Friggin idiot!
You should’ve played them in this order.
Halo Reach, Halo CE, Halo 2, Halo 3 ODST, Halo 3

If you play Halo 4 and 5 in this era you are unironically a 343tard even if you don't like them.

Why didn't the Eagles just fly the ring to Mt. Doom?

Because that would make sense.

A Halo construct is too small to be useful as a real ringworld.

I prefer playing game in release order, sorry faggot

Ring wraiths

Why the fuck do I have to be stuck on this analogue planet? It's shit here. I want to live on a Halo ring and get a qt monitor gf and we can just be alone together.

Then why do all of the covenant say its a great journey?

I came *this* close to getting trolled by the faggots ERP'ing as Covenant, then I caught on.

I'm gonna need all Great Journey supporters to line up in an orderly fashion. I'll be your guide today to the Great Journey. Trust me, this is an experience you won't want to miss. Just hold still a little.

Attached: Halo-Master-Chief-2.jpg (628x399, 87K)

so is forge gonna be doa?

No because they "literally" eat ass. By that I mean that the flood in your picture would penetrate an anus, use it suckers to cause prolapse, and then rip that prolapse off the body and ingest it. Then it would climb inside the hole and eat everything else inside you.

Hi, I'm here for the Great Journey Tour Guide.

Am I a little early? Why is there purple blood everywhere?

Attached: 1553130053979.png (250x284, 92K)

Ancient derelict vessel full of mysterious fine powder. Haha lol lets feed it to our pet animals and see what happens

Attached: brainz.jpg (211x239, 9K)

This would make a great backstory for something. Can you write it into book form?

The halo was created to destroy planets. You might think it’s an anti religion symbolism but the halo lore has many references of Norse mythology, Greek mythology and religions. Which is why it’s one of the deepest lores in all vidya

Is this the most embarrassing boss battle of the past 15 years?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 61K)

Hey there, I work for a vidya company and I would like you to write some expanded lore books for us. Whats your contact info?

Attached: ilikedhalo4.jpg (680x567, 63K)

Because they only know what their religion tells them. Why do you assume everything you hear is true?

why did they have habitats on the inner ring?

But the humans say that the Rings kills things and you believe that, why do you assume everything you hear is true?

It was originally built to house the entire Forerunner Jew population.

Then, when they all relocated there, they activated them.

They kill pet care products apparently.

Maybe because the AI custodians in charge of taking care of the ring says exactly what the Halo ring is supposed to do. Multiple times.

is this pre or post-343 lore (aka non-canon)

Stop. Halo 4 is really boring and Halo 5 is just plain bad.

This is Bungie/Raimi lore.

Halo 2 when you first arrive on Halo you get pretty close to the wall

nice

But multiple AI custodians also say that Humans=Forerunner and people still doubt that.

Where is the evidence that the Halo's kills stuff?

>halo rings
>a super weapon created by an ancient alien race who've scattered several of these super structures throughout the galaxy
>each ring has its own lush environment and artificial atmosphere
>the environment is modern day earth flora and fauna

Attached: 0235B8CE-00BD-44E3-BA3F-7EE6660DD10D-189-00000031FA132ED7.png (640x368, 180K)

You see multiple strange plants throughout the games

>Ship master, the continent of Africa is purged of the flood. Why is our glassing beam still in standby? Why are we going north east.
>This planet is infected with another parasitic life form.
>Its Gravemind lives in a place the Humans call 'Israel'

Attached: basedhalfjaw.jpg (210x240, 16K)

There is some connection in the lore between humans (who come from Earth) and the madmen who made the rings, so maybe that's why.

>jump on an old man's mobility scooter and punch him in the head until he dies
I liked it.

Humans built the rings

Attached: humans equal forerunner for 343lorefags.png (657x251, 64K)

>game takes place 500 years in the future
>guns still use bullets
>guns function exactly the same as modern guns

Attached: yikes.jpg (223x226, 7K)

Humans ARE the new Forerunners, which the old Forerunners themselves knew about before they died. They probably purposely made the environments look familiar to humans so that humans would be attracted to them.

>Implying Israel will exist in 26th century

what would guns function like in the future, and what projectiles would they use exactly?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I don't fucking know but what technology do we use today that is literally unchanged over the last 500 years? It will be very fucking different.

Which would you glass first?
>A parasitic hostile entity that will stop at nothing till its consumed everything and destroyed biodiversity forever
>or the flood?

Attached: maxresdefault.jpg (1280x720, 54K)

>Trying to fix what isn't broke

you should google gunpowder

As if humanity met anything that rendered their weapons obsolete prior contact with Covenant

>fix broken what isn't trying to

The H3 terminals contradict this. Bungie never had a consistent final answer for who the Forerunners were and what their relationship to humans was. That's perfectly fine though since either is better than Greg Bear's diarrhea.

The canonical reason for this is that the Halo Array doesn't actually destroy organic matter, it destroys their neurological system.; so the flood itself is un affected other then flood forms that are utlizing infected neurological matter, like Combat forms, graveminds, etc

i'd assume a superweapon that just blanket destroyed all organic matter would mean that re-seeding the galaxy afterwards would be impossible.

>haha le forerunner books are bad even though i've never read them maymay

343 sucks shit at writing their games and moving the state of the universe foward in a meaingful way, but in terms of the content of their novels, 343i outright has a higher average level of quality then bungie's books did, so it'd be a mistake for you to just blanket dimissmiss all of their stuff.

Habitable worlds in Halo all share at least vaugely earth-like flora and fanua. There'll be alien-esque stuff of course, but stuff like grass, trees, and vaugely avian, mamamallian, reptillian animals are seen across them.

This isn't a 343i thing, either. It was the case in bungie era lore as well, Moas in reach being the most obvious example.

There's never been an explictly canonical explanation for it, but the presumed reason is that the forerunners or precursaors seeded life throughout the galaxy from a common ancestor set of species, this is confirmed for at least SOME animals, such as Eutypetrids.

Oh shit you're right. An AR15 and an ancient bangstick is literally the same thing! Nothing changed. Kys.

don't change the goalposts idiot

>what technology do we use today that is literally unchanged over the last 500 years?
Guns?

Most of the Forerunner tech, including Halos, is based on Precursor technology they left behind. Precursor technology taps into the fantasy aspect of the series, and focuses on neural physics. Apparently they were able to reach into dark matter and create giant constructs with their mind, like Star roads and filaments that would link entire systems together. Now, this is 343 canon but I could see it being a Bungie creation before the hand off. With all the focus on mind tech, I bet that’s why Halos only target sentient life. They are the only ones who could think, which is all the Precursors cared about.

Ah yes, I remember the American troops storming Afghanistan with their laser Carbines, energy swords, and noob combo'ing with plasma pistols. It truly is marvelous what modern weaponry is capable of. And who can forget when we stormed the beaches of Normandy in our Ghosts while enemy Banshees rained plasma bombs from above.

Attached: cringe.gif (220x220, 180K)

>guns works
>aaaa fix it I want something new, noooooooo

>D: Mendicant Bias is trying to prevent us from firing the Array. He speeds back to the Ark, but he won’t succeed. Offensive Bias will stop him, and I will burn this stinking menace in your name.

And then?

I will begin our Great Journey without you, carrying this bitter record. Those who come after will know what we bought with this [false transcendence] - what you bought, and the price you paid.

The terminals also call the Halo effect a Great Journey, right from a Forerunner himself! So by your own logic, the Halo's just cause the Great Journey.

this is your typical nu-sci-fi """fan"""
>dude where are my lazers lmao

For the uninitiated, these are343tards and they are a cancer. Pic related.

Attached: mythic kek.png (932x778, 86K)

Imagine being so unimaginative that you can't come up with something more than bullets

Attached: black hole gun.webm (960x720, 2.88M)

Why did western devs used to have creativity and imagination like this?

If you showed me Halo today I would assume it's from a Japanese dev because there's actual imagination and over the top things in it.

Isn't basically a brain-EMP? That affects infested and non-infested brains alike, making all sentient organisms useless to the flood spores? No source on this, just something I recall hearing somewhere.

Begin the Great Journey

>Ah, spartans
>genetically altered super soldiers who've been trained to kill since the age of 6
>they use some of the most advanced military weapons and armor humanity could provide
>they're faster, stronger and have quicker reaction than normal humans
>why did we create them you ask?
>to fight highly intelligent genocidal aliens hellbent on destroy humanity?
>No, to fight dirt poor insurrectionists and wannabe terrorists

Attached: 66D06249-C9F7-4A2C-814E-8EEB4D1899D0-2858-000007510E924950.gif (300x290, 1.74M)

I thought that since the Halos were last ditch effort weapons, they were also used as secret labs for experimenting on ancient humans and shit.

The Forerunner populace as a whole did not know about them since they were controversial to the government. I feel like the habitats were just a way of keeping certain species there before being indexed.

>staying consistent with the H3 terminals
>calling out Bear as a shit writer
>343tard
What in the fuck

Imagine being so autistic you need everything to be so epic crazy random

The Eagles managed to fuck those things up in the end though

It's not about being imaginative you dimwit, it's about being realistic.
Space guns and rocket lasers that run on liquid rule of cool are fine for some settings, but that's not what they were going for here.

You say no but you're describing a yes...

>begin our Great Journey
Why would you interpret that literally? It's meant as a way of explaining how the Covenant misinterpreted the Forerunners' intent. Also
>the Halo's
The Halo's what?

So if your staying consistent with the Halo 3 terminals and consider them the be all end all in the discussion about Humans=Forerunner, then you willingly admit that Halo's dont kill things and that The Covenant has it right and they lead to a Great Journey. This is from the terminals, from the Didact:
>I will begin our Great Journey without you, carrying this bitter record.

Attached: 1546319710252.png (976x1053, 1.06M)

The bigger disgrace is building them up and then saying "nah 3 and 4s are better lol"

I thought humans were just a primitive race the forerunners liked and gave admin access to all their shit because they were cute.

Yes and it took humanity 500 years to form a unified government. Pretty sure during all that strife and conflict "make the guns lasers" was low on the priority list.

Why are you so autistically delusionally obsessed with the idea that humans were 100% forerunners before 343i took over despite the fact that we fucking have media from bungie clearly stating otherwise, and all of the examples you cite only MIGHT SUGGEST humans and forerunners are the same: such as how that only means humans were "reclaimers", which could easily have just been a title bestowed upon humanity.

We LITTERALLY know for a fact that specific people at bungie just had their own headcanon, which is why you have inconsistent information such as Spark saying humans are forerunners vs the terminals and the IRIS campaign not. Again, fucking read haruspis.blog/2017/10/30/you-are-forerunner-a-complete-history/

>The H3 terminals contradict this. Bungie never had a consistent final answer for who the Forerunners were and what their relationship to humans was.
This. The IRIS ARG campaign also contradicts it.

>Greg Bear's diarrhea.
Have you actually read them or are you just shitting on them like everybody else because you read some shitty summary on a wiki that makes everything sound stupid due to it being out of context?

UNSC guns are NOT just modern day firearms. If people want I can go into more detail, but tldr:

- UNSC guns use much larger ammunition for weapons in their given role compared to modern day firearms
- UNSC guns, to handle them, are implied to have advanced recoil mitigation systems
- UNSC guns have way faster muzzle veloicites then their modern day counterparts
- Materials science and armor is more advanced, as evidenced both by how UNSC armor bounced off out of date smaller ammo a few times in the books and by the guns surviving being dropped from orbit in supply drop pods
- UNSC guns have integerated electronics logistcs suites to link up with HUDS
- There are more exotic UNSC stuff, such as caseless ammo, coilguns, etc

>The Halo's what?
>the Halo's just cause the Great Journey.
Wtf, I thought you 343cunts could read. Oh, you listened to the Forerunner audio books. Makes sense.

This is the closest thing to a correct answer provided by Bungie but there's still room for interpretation. Human's might be genetic cousins or something made by the Precursors. They just aren't literally the Forerunners.

>Again, fucking read haruspis.blog/2017/10/30/you-are-forerunner-a-complete-history/
>taking the word of a 343tard when the only reliable source is Joe Staten

Attached: StatenAFact.png (922x162, 43K)

Actually no, Humanity originally encountered the Flood first and enacted measures to help curb the infestation by blowing up infected worlds. One world happened to be Forerunner and the Forerunners took that as a sign of war from the Humans which started the conflict and a war on three fronts.

They're Orbitals, you live on them

>Have you actually read them
I did read them and thought they were terrible compared to the old canon.

>use Halo's as a plural
>say others can't read

reach pc release date when

>fanfiction

tomorrow

Remember when the Flood was some mysterious ancient threat from beyond the galaxy? Why did they ruin them?

This isn't reddit, grammar faggot.

343 lore and their supporting novels were one of the great mistakes of mankind

They ruined every single aspect of Halo.

3's are better because of technological advancements. They made the exact same sacrifices as the 2's except they got zero glory for it. 2's will still have the edge in experience for as long as they exist.
4's are not better than 2's or 3's. Their augmentations are less effective due to being administered at a later age despite technological advancement, and they are only capable of matching up to 2's and 3's in MJOLNIR. A 2 or 3 is still much more experienced, intelligent, has superior reflexes etc.

Bear's books made them scarier, before they were just dumb space zombies.

Humans used to equal Forerunners as well, but then 343 took over and fucked it.

We already had this discussion you fucking faggot. Not knowing=Scarier.

But we still know very little, there's no guarantee anything we've heard about them is true. Lies are very likely, in fact.

I can't hold on to wait for halo infinite until the next gen bros. Before you came at me, Bonnie Ross implied it’s going to release when the new xbox releases

>Precursor's are just the Forerunners of the Forerunners
>muh mantle
>Expired Space Dog Kibble
You 343tards are fucking disgusting. How do you call yourself a Halo fan when you love all the things that killed Halo. Fuck off back to r/halostory you little faggot.

Attached: 1548724745718.png (1920x1080, 1.88M)

Thanks for proving that you never actually gave a shit about Halo lore, since if you did, you'd know that the capitalized, emphasized words in the Halo 3 terminals are ALL euphisms and metaphors: the captalization is the terminal rephrasing forerunner metaphors and symbolism into terms the reader can understand: this is why "Eden", "Magniot Line", etc are present and are also captialized and emphaized the same wayDespite being terms only existing in human culture, the terminal is capable of replacing forerunner cultural specific euphisms and metaphors with human ones

"Great Journey" is one of those captalized meraphors, it's non-literal, and even if we didn't know this, nothing there says what "great journey" means and it'd still be obvious it was a euphism for firing the array, and you can't argue that with the line establishing humans as not being forerunners.

I'm not sure if all of the rings were, but some were, yes.

>I did read them and thought they were terrible compared to the old canon.
Then I'm legitimately interested in hearing you give a more detailed explanation on your problems with them, if you would be willing to share and clarify? It'd be nice if we could get some actual disscusion going rather then just shitposting.

In the forerunner novels themselves the flood are realized as a horrible, incomprehensible scourges more then then any prior Halo media could even dream of fucking executing on. The forerunner novels themselves are more fucking cosmic horror then they are sci-fi.

You bitching that "knowing what they are makes them less scary" is like spoiling yourself of the events on a Lovecraft book and then bitching about how the Old Ones and Cthululu isn't scary now. No fucking shit it's not scary outside of the context of the buildup and writing. It's not even fucking limited to cosmic horror, same shit ith a thriller or drama novel/movie

The "know nothing automatically equals scarier" crowd are the most pretentious fuckers in horror, beaten only by the ones who wank off social commentary as the best horror.

this

This is right, there are large walls at the edge you can actually see it in this pic if you look towards the edge

3's aren't better though, most 3's had SPI armor, not MJOLNIR and lacked the body mutilation enhancements the 2's had. 3's were basically suicide soldiers meant to go on extremely destructive one way trips to simply stall the covenant.

3's were high risk soldiers, not suicide soldiers. They fought in several campaigns until finally ending in the missions that killed most of them. Their augmentations were improved from the Spartan 2 program as stated in Ghosts of Onyx. They didn't get MJOLNIR because the suits were incredibly expensive, much more expensive than training or augmenting soldiers. Obviously a 3 in SPI isn't equal to a 2 in MJOLNIR, but if both are in MJOLNIR there is no real difference.

Humans aren't Forerunner. They were, however, chosen by Forerunner and imparted with a small piece of them or something right at the end of the Flood/Forerunner conflict. That's why the Librarian laments finding them so late.

I was fairly sure they didn't get the intrusive augments that the two's did since it killed off around half off the two's when they first did it, I may be wrong though

nice non-rebuttall

Still interested in hearing you explaining your issues with the books, user.

>I was fairly sure they didn't get the intrusive augments that the two's did since it killed off around half off the two's when they first did it, I may be wrong though
It did kill a huge portion of the 2's, yeah. However due to the time in between and lessons learned from the augmentation of the 2's, the 3's had a much smaller washout rate (in the last batch it was 0%) despite having slightly less perfect genetics. Some of them didn't grow up to be as tall as Spartan 2's but the augs are the same or better, at least in safety.

>"This one's containment... and this one's Great Journey... are the same"
Nothing you've posted from Halo 3 terminals has contradicted this. Calling the holocaust "The Great Journey" doesn't suddenly change what it was.

>flood eats everyone
>halo kills everyone
>somehow the halo is good

>flood lets everyone join in the glorious hive and experience victory everlasting
>forerunners just murder a galaxy because they're so incompetent
flood are the good guys

THE TERMINALS CALL IT A "GREAT JOURNEY"

Where did you get the idea that the Halo's are good?

If activated, they would kill all the jews.

You might have autism. You seem to be incapable of understanding metaphors.

why would you make the rings unless you think them better than the flood.

this is just shooting the hostage, then shooting yourself, and then shooting the hostage taker

Play the games and find out.

>using Reach as an example again.

>metaphors
>implying

Attached: implying.gif (500x216, 872K)

You mean Forerunners.

I mean, if your choices are
A. Let the flood consume all life
B. Kill 99% of life except those on the ark, and then rebuild
I'm gonna go with B

And where does it say what "great journey" means?

Reach was fanfiction, bad fanfiction. Just to piss you and every other Bungie faggot in this thread off, I play Halo CE, 2, 3, and then 4 in this order and I skip Reach because I didn't like it. I also plan to buy Halo 5 and Infinite when the next Xbox comes around. Reach is better off being non-canon.

>Great
means good
>Journey
means to travel
It roughly translates to "Good Travel"

>Torturing yourself with 343's Halo just to get "revenge" for bungie's one bad Halo game
Hey, you do you.

Bungiefags are mentally, many non-fans call them out on their bullshit, even Microsoft and 343 know they are cancer and are locking them on the PC version of MCC with mods so they can finally fuck off permantly.

*permanently

>clouds behind the halo structure

Attached: 1550354069143.jpg (663x498, 24K)

I torture myself enough, playing Reach.

Okay, so you are just baiting at this point, got it.

Just because the name "Didact" appeared in Halo 3 doesn't mean everything that's been made by 343 since was suddenly part of the original plot.

>Forerunners build a super advanced civ
>All other species are ants for them but somehow they choose the human race
>The floods came up and fucks everithing up
>Even with their high end weapons and tech they cant get rid of them for good
>To the point the floods were about to run over the entire galaxy
>The few survirvors left start the halo project knowing the only way to stop the flood is wiping out their food(all living organisms)
>They storage all living species on their "hardware" then start the halo rings to destroy everithing the floods dies then after that the rings sends samples of the species to their original planets and everything goes back to normal
Its a reset mechanism

Attached: 1552952711450.png (1440x1435, 2.04M)

It was a new plot, everyone knows the original plot concluded with Halo 3.

>Microsoft and 343 know they are cancer and are locking them on the PC version of MCC with mods so they can finally fuck off permantly.

>mfw being on pc is the only thing that made halo relevant again
>mfw you 343faggots will be stay on xbox by your own words
>mfw even 343fags are to retarded to understand that they are practically scat fetishist because they like something most people loathe.

Attached: 1552542743480.jpg (544x400, 22K)

Why don't you just not play the ones you don't like? I don't play Halo 4 or 5 because I think they're terrible.

while true, a lot of alleged "343 shit" was at least somewhat planned by bungie.

Infinite got a lot of hype last year, it's more keeping Halo fans on Xbox, shoving mentally ill Bungie faggots on PC and telling them to make their own games.

I don't, I stop playing Reach years ago, I separated it from my collection and now it just sits in the back collecting dust, I treat Halo CE-4 well, but I don't care about Reach, I would even care if the disc got broken.

Like I said though, just because Bungie had mentioned a name before, doesn't mean the hard right turn 343 took with the plot is what was intended. The Halo 3 terminals don't mention the Didact as a magic space eggplant wizard, for example.

the only real answer

Attached: 1114FA7B-12E1-4A28-BA84-553415EBA01E.jpg (1024x1024, 73K)

*wouldn't

It's sad that this mindset means we will never get to see Reach's Elite AI ever again, but Halo 4's broken AI will continue to live on.

What the fuck were those space triangles in Destiny 2 anyways

Right, and I get that, i'm just saying there are things people blame 343 for that bungie started.

Not tha of cours,e, but, for example, even if bungie didn't exactly

Reach's elite AI is fucking insane, one time one litterally baited me to chase it behind a building, onlt to then be in the warthog turret I had jumped out of to chase it when I turned the last corner and killed me with it

It was fucking surreal, I felt like I was playing a MP match

I never noticed. I shoot at thing, thing dies. What was so special about it?

Attached: 8d29ac16.jpg (657x527, 38K)

Good example here You'd probably need to play on Legendary to see most of it, but I'd had encounters on lower diffculty. High ranking Elite squads would break up into pairs and flank you sometimes. Going out of their line of sight didn't just have them sit still or charge in a straight line. They might run away mid fight only to have positioned themselves on a turret when you try to chase them.

>Black hole gun.
Some 14 year old write this shit?

Because that wouldn't have been as much fun.

Bungie
>Here's the story. You can learn about it by playing the video games

>WHAT'S HARD TO UNDERSTAND?!? JUST DOWNLOAD AND READ OUR 14 GRAPHIC NOVELS IN BETWEEN GAMES 4 AND 5, AND READ THESE FOUR BOOKS BUT ONLY PARAGRAPHS 5, 9, AND 21 WILL BE CANON. WAIT DID YOU WATCH OUR MOVIE AND EXTENDED COMMERCIALS TOO??
literally anyone who defends Halo after 3 is an autistic, tasteless stooge. Yes that includes Reach, which was literally a COD knock-off, and fucking BLURRY to the point of being unplayable.

Bungie's guilty of this too

>haha look at our new game destiny
>no story? that's wrong, log into our website to read our shitty grimoire cards

>All other species are ants
Negative

When the relays were fired humanity, forerunners, and few other races were technologically equal.

Forerunners held the ones holding the mantle after the stole it from the precursors, who intended to give it to humanity.

>fanfiction

What were the Eagle's take on fiscal matters?

It's just a giant hula hoop. Nothing to worry about, user.

Remember that time Johnson just randomly shows up in Halo 2 with no explanation on how he survived or how Chief got back to Earth. Did Master Chief just sit around in the same room on Truth's ship at the ending of 2 going into Halo 3? Bungie pulled the same shit.

Can't they eat animals or plant matter I'm confused?

>The H3 terminals contradict this
they were written by Frankie aka a fucking brainlet retard

it doesn't count. The terminals are irrelevant.

Destiny Bungie isn't the same company that made Halo. I would hope no one would make the mistake of thinking bringing Bungie back would fix Halo. The people that made it good have all splintered off now. Heck, Joe Staten works for MS again.

Mental illness, not even him. You guys really need to see a doctor.

Did you need answer to either of these?

Not him but Destiny Bungie made ODST and Reach so at least in 2009 and 2010 it was the same Bungie that made Destiny 1 and 2.

Can't wait for people to start claiming Halo threads were shitpost-free before the PC port was released.

>there are things about Halo even the Hierarchs do not understand
>Tartarus, the prophets have betrayed us
How would this be a betrayal if they didn't know what it did?

>see guy presumably die in cutscene
>no word from him for the rest of game
>suddenly alive and well in sequel, no explanation offered besides "That's classified" joke
Yes?

cope, brainlet

humans = forerunners

When slaves outlive their masters.

>log into our website to read our shitty grimoire cards
The Grimoire and Destiny lore in general in excellent, the problem is that the actual games story was atrocious, and with the DLCs some were just acceptable and others were just bad. And then having to log in to the app or the website is just awful design.

Covenant cucks are the worst.

>456661946
It isn't. Not even Destiny 1 is the the game it was meant to be, they brought in some GW2 writer to rewrite the entire game and most essential bungie staff quit immediately before the game was even out

Yea Forums didn't start liking Halo until around ODST, the people that came into Halo in 2009 were COD children that eventually fucked off to the PS4 and PC, they were never really fans, they just dick road Bungie because Halo was popular. They use to shit up Bungie.net all the time.

fanfiction

To answer your first question, it is completely irrelevant to the story, and they poke light at it.
To answer your second question, HE TELLS CORTANA TO WAKE HIMP UP BECAUSE HE GOES TO CRYOSLEEP. FUCKING OBVIOUSLY.

>To answer your second question, HE TELLS CORTANA TO WAKE HIMP UP BECAUSE HE GOES TO CRYOSLEEP. FUCKING OBVIOUSLY.
I'm talking about the end of Halo 2 and beginning of Halo 3.

Niven's rings are much cooler.

OP here, just a heads up. This thread was made to demonstrate the pour autism of Humans=/=Forerunner by using their own lines and logic against them, making them argue against the validity of the terminals that they cling so tightly too.

I've been a Halo fan since CE first came on PC and got an xbox for halo 2 and 3 onwards. Dropped it at Halo 4. I was mythic on Bungie.net too.

always was curious about the Maginot line reference, now I have the explanation, cheers

Great explanation, I can't wait to see you repost it in every single thread from now until the end of the year. Maybe if I hear it a thousand times it will start sounding true.

Nice try

fact, actually

Wow how original they just ripped off mass effect

CE, 2, and 3 all expected you to just figure out who the hell Keyes, Cortana, Johnson, Miranda, Lord Hood, the Prophets, the Gravemind, etc were as you went along and infer shit with little to zero epxlict explanation:

Wheras 4 outright has a expoistory cutscene inside the campaign going into the didact and librrians backstory, and thena fuck ton of terminals going into it in more detail, talking about, the origin of the promethians and the composer etc.

4 isn't hard to understand because you need to read the books, 4 is hard to understand because it's writing is fucking dogshit.

I've been on Yea Forums since from time to time since 2008, regularly since 2010-2011. Halo threads now are honestly the worst they've ever been. Even back in those days to like 2012, when you had tons of people who hated Halo doing muh babies first fps shitposting, the threads were still better then now since at least the actuial Halo disscuision between fans was way, way more more civil actually had back and forth converdsations and shit; and then the late night threads were chill and civil as fuck and had minimal shitposting.

Halo threads being utter trashfires has only really been a thing since like 2016-2017. Before then even if they were contentious, people were sitll willing to havbe actual conversations about what the games did right or wrong or what they'd want to see in a non-shitposting manner, and people were willing to havge more nuanced takes on ODST, Reach, and to a lesser but still true extent for 5 and an even lesser extent 4; albiet there was still plenty of FUCK 343I, but you could still occasionally get more nuanced takes far more then now.

I blame the current state of these threads on underagefags who started with 3, didn't reallly play much CE or 2 and don't realize how much 3 itself was a depoature from past games, and just shitpost about litterally everything after 3 being shit

Yes, originally back in CE, but over time opinions at bungie split and there was no formal consensus, hence the contradictory information between IRIS, the 3 terminals, spark';s statments, contact harvest, etc.

Litterally fucking read haruspis.blog/2017/10/30/you-are-forerunner-a-complete-history/, it goes into all of this

If infinite is shit though, it's unironically over

>CE, 2, and 3 all expected you to just figure out who the hell Keyes, Cortana, Johnson, Miranda, Lord Hood, the Prophets, the Gravemind, etc were as you went along and infer shit with little to zero epxlict explanation:

Dude, literally everyone else that played those games understood those characters and their function. You'd have to be autistic to not understand them.

Ok yeah, not all of it is the best, but it's got a lot more hits than misses

Attached: Sbk8td4.jpg (3024x4032, 867K)

Yep.

I'm not saying otherwise, my point is that that "oh shit the didact is a forerunner who hates humans and the composer is a superweapon" is just as obvious to anybody playing 4 even if they aren't paying that much attention and then ON TOP OF THAT 4 also has way more exposition giving extra contexnt and then even more fucking context in the terminals

I am NOT defending 4's writing. 4's writing is shit, and because it's shit, it means that despite all of this 4 is confusiong and hard to follow. I'm a fucking lorefag who has read all the books and even I was fucking cofnused by how Halo 4 chose to explain things

4's issue is not Extended univcerse reliiancy or not explaining itself enough: It's poor writing.

God I hate the nuhog.

>Litterally fucking read haruspis.blog/2017/10/30/you-are-forerunner-a-complete-history/, it goes into all of this
>J..just read the books user
No one is going to take the word of that 343 apologist when it is flatly stated that Humans=Forerunners in every game.
>hence the contradictory information between IRIS, the 3 terminals
There you go, you're 2 only pieces of evidence. There is no character that says "Humans are not Forerunners" not even the covenant says that. But we do have characters (many more than just Guilty Spark) flatly saying that Humans are Forerunners.
>Gravemind
>Truth
>Mendicant Bias
>Guilty Spark
All say that Humans=Forerunners, you are living in denial.

I wish I could be excited for Infinite, but I'm just not. Halo 5 killed any love I had for the series, I was only a little more receptive towards 4 since I was willing to give 343 the benefit of the doubt and fully acknowledge its flaws, but I despise 5.

Aw. I hoped it would be a sudden drop rather than a wall.

Sorry user, purity testing goes like this sometimes.

>let's just build a personal sidearm that creates a black hole that's large enough to be self-sustaining I mean what could possibly go wrong with that

Attached: 1528651619967.gif (410x412, 861K)

I've played Halo non-stop since 2002. 343 is shit, and is guilty of fucking up the greatest FPS franchise of all time. I'm talking Star Wars-tier fuckery.

>never seen outlaw star

>please be bait

That quote is from Halo: CE, you fucking idiot

>bungie time travelled forward to copy mass effect
wooooooooooooooooow

I started with CE on the Xbox.

>"In 300 years, weapons are going to be so advanced that they're not fun anymore. It'll be like, a glass of water. You drink it, and all of your enemies die. That's boring. So in 500 years we'll be back to guns and bullets again, because those are totally fun to kill things with."

Attached: 1551409408682.jpg (1500x653, 1019K)

Who are you quoting?

>From the level Two Betrayals, Cortana, to be precise...

The halo rings make you gay

>Maste Chief campaign
>split screen
>LAN at lunch
>everything at launch
>will get an enhancement for Xbox Scarlett most likely
Halo Infinite is fine.

Go to 2:00

youtube.com/watch?v=AE4H7relFX8

this is the sort of problem I have with the forerunner guns in 4/5: they SHOULD be the sort of super esotric weapons like that, not just fucking guns

This, 3babbies are the worst, and Halo 3 is my favorite.

Will the game still have terrible level design and literally anything that Prometheans do? Cause then the campaign will still suck.

The lever-action Forerunner shotgun always made me chuckle a bit

funny how that art pretty much has the halo 4 LMG and the Halo 5 single tube rocket launcher, yet both designs look far better and fit more into the halo art style then 343's

Don't argue, this guy will try to make you believe that Halo 4 and 5, especially 5 don't need the books when even 343 said it was a problem enough to split them again after Halo 5.

>Will the game still have terrible level design
Probably not, game will have massive explorable levels like Halo CE and Halo 3.

wow, crazy how these are now a "feature", they used to be something you put in your game so it wouldn't be total shit bro, like a bare minimum standard for fun to occur.

I'll still place CE probably until I die. I still love exploring and trying new things out, even though I have a 1:1 mental map of every detail of every level in the CE campaign.

I hate the new sound more

>Not knowing=Scarier.
Why do people still think this?

It's going to be better than Halo 4 and 5 and that's all that matters.

Glad you asked.
1) Flying the ring to Mordor would have done nothing but save time. Time didn't matter. It wasn't an issue until Aragorn goaded Sauron into launching his attack on Minas Tirith ahead of schedule. Frodo had the ring for decades until Gandalf uncovered its origin. The Fellowship took a month's vacation in Lothlorien halfway through their journey. They took two months to leave Rivendell. It had been about 2,000 years since the wizards arrived in Middle-earth to deal with Sauron to begin with.

2) The ring couldn't simply be dropped into the caldera of Mt. Doom. There's a reason why Frodo didn't just drop it into the first lava flow he came across. The ring couldn't be destroyed by lava outside of the (subterranean) forge. It could only be unmade where it was made. Why? Because magic. But that's how it worked.

3) Sauron had an entire army stationed around Mt. Doom.

4) The only chance the fellowship had of success rested on the fact that Sauron didn't believe that his enemies would attempt to destroy his ring. He believed that no one could overcome the ring's corruption (and was completely correct in thinking so, too). Aragorn tricked Sauron into believing that he had the ring. If Sauron knew that the ring was approaching Mordor, or was not with Aragorn, he could have surmised what Gandalf was planning. A suicidal air raid on his HQ would have been a fairly obvious tipoff that something was going on.

5) The eagles themselves would have been susceptible to the ring's influence, along with whomever the eagle was carrying.

Again, that's setting the bar low. I love Halo, I hope it's fun, but just because it's trying to adhere to some minimal standards, doesn't automatically mean it will be good.

Not sure. Probably has something to do with jews

What the heck is Halo Infinite going to be about if it is a direct sequel of Guardians but takes place on a ring and you're playing solely as Chief. I don't even know what's really going on anymore since Cortana went full SJW.

they can come apart like lego bricks

Reminder that the forerunners got asshurt that their overlords were going to give the best toy to their little brother so they got mad and declared war on the precursors in order to steal the mantle, causing them to eventually become the flood in order to enact revenge. Yeah the humans are retarded for using random space powder to make their pets happy, but it was the forerunners being jealous little shits that caused the existence of the flood.

>not release order

Halo "lore" is such a humongous clusterfuck. A perfect example of "too many cooks ruins the pot"

this mission made me sad because it reminded me of how my grandpa died. I almost couldn't play it.

No one likes your fanfiction fuck off with it already. r/HaloStory exists for you people.

Isn't it more "The old cooks lost their touch and the new cooks don't even know what the fuck they're doing"?

If anything know nothing makes things less scary because people tend to make stupid assumptions and opinions that they claim to be fact.

ALIEN:
the creature is some erroneous enigma found on an ancient ship, space is full of more mystery and danger than we could ever imagine. What else could be lurking out there?

PROMETHEUS:
lol nevermind the Alien was made by some Robot dude who was made by humans and the ship isn't ancient, some dumb bitch crashed it there a year ago. Everything revolves around humans.

By the Lord I love Sangheili so much. They are the best andI want to fight with them against the flood and traitorous prophets.

Posting every time it's mentioned because. Escaloltion is a fucking travesty

>setting the bar low
Nothing can be as low as ODST and Reach so it being better than Halo 4 and 5 puts Halo back on a good track, if it's better than Halo 2 and CE then that's even better, I can see it being better than Halo 2, but CE will be really hard to surpass it's a guarantee though that it will never be as good as Halo 3.

To be honest apparently the precursors were apanerently massive assholes themselves.

How long would it take to run a marathon all around?
How did they travel, there's no road.

>SJW
I didn't know Bungie were making Halo still since they're the ones that hire the mentally ill.

this

outlaw star is a great anime

Reach was actually a great game though. Gunplay and campaign were excellent. Sorry you MLG fags got butthurt at the reticle bloom. Idk why you stayed mad once competitive playlists were released. Class system was fun in a way, and increased the importance of synergy among team mates..

To you, it's very forgettable.

I like Forge World, I just hate that the multiplayer maps are only Forge World or Campaign spaces as for the latter only Spire works well in Invasion

The DLC maps were good enough to compensate FW.
Shame matchmaking was like FW variants in a ratio of 5:1 vs any other maps.

>the creature is some erroneous enigma found on an ancient ship, space is full of more mystery and danger than we could ever imagine. What else could be lurking out there?
The fear was more of the fact it was hard to kill not that it was unknown, hell when I first saw the flood I though "hey look zombies with guns" and I didn't think nothing more about it.

I think the core concept of giving players a titanic blank slate to go wild with was a good idea in principle, but relying so heavily on it to make official maps with was a mistake.

The Darkness, probably. Only thing we've seen of them since the post credits has been a hologram in Forsaken, but they're setting up a second collapse and the Darkness would be the perfect thing for it.

Attached: f66QEEx.png (1920x1080, 2.86M)

Cortana activated the Guardians to shut off everyone's tech so she could activate Halo. She's probably gonna use it as some kind of big deterrent to keep synthetics in power, or maybe she's going full Skynet to kill all organics. Halo Infinite will be about going to a Halo to fight/stop/buttfuck her. How is this hard to follow?

Light is a big orb called Traveler. When you use a Super you create motes of light shaped like spheres.

Darkness is a big pyramid called Dark Fleet or something. Motes of darkness in Gambit are shaped like pyramids.

Traveler is Nurture while Dark Fleet is Nature. Traveler uplifts species to see if they can survive Dark Fleet, which comes to weed out civilizations like natural selection. Dark Fleet usually wins, Traveler fucks off to find a new species to uplift, except this time the Traveler stayed behind on Earth. Pyramid ship probably woke up at the end of D2 to restart the cycle.

No, because even the old cooks didn't really know what the fuck they were doing.

Halo CE's plot was nice and condensed. It told you what you needed to know, but left a lot of mysteries open. Halo 2, in contrast, was a mess of ideas getting thrown at a wall and seeing what stuck. You had some battles on Earth, which were supposed to be the main focus of the game based on the marketing and promotional shit, but it turns out that you need to go to another Halo, and also there are new Covenant aliens that were never mentioned in the first game but were actually really powerful, and you play as an Elite on a cool set piece, and then you find the magic Gravemind who uses Flood magic to teleport you to the Covenant capital and you blow up some shit and then you need to FINISH THE FIGHT. What a goddamn mess of a game.

By Halo 3, Bungie was evidently getting sick of the series, and they had lost sight of what they wanted to do, but they were contractually obligated to make two more games after 3.

Sounds like a problem with your brain. When I know less about the subject it is way scarier

>There could be more of these things
>Where do they come from
>Why are they doing this
>They could be stronger
>How do we stop them
>How do we predict them
>We can't

Yeah, but they taste bad.

This, Halo 2 was considered a plot induced mess for a reason, there's a reason Halo 5 is compared to it all the time since it's a worse version of it.

Entropy VS evolution

Darkness is entropy taken to the extreme. They want to carve the universe into it's "final shape" by destroying all that cannot protect itself.

Light is evolution, Universe started chaotic but then nebulas, stars, planets, galaxies, life, and civilisations formed. Each more complex than the last. Light wants to expand not subtract.

That not the fear of the unknown because you KNOW you can't stop them.

Destiny is shit, if you want to talk about that game, go fuck off and make a Destiny thread where you can talk about your favorite tranny company.

Playing Halo 2 on Legendary right now
Why is the Needler tracking so ass

>Still no 4K Spartan III booty
WHERE IS REACH FOR PC?

Attached: keklhar.jpg (350x350, 22K)

I dread for the culture adaptation thats being made.

>except this time the Traveler stayed behind on Earth.
May I ask why?

as are Banks's Orbitals, where bungie adapted them from.

It is artificial living habitat, it is shape as ring and spins to simulate gravity.

I dunno I'm still getting the feeling that Light and Dark are dependent on one another. If anything Darkness is evolution, with the Sword Logic's "might makes right" mentality, which fits pretty neatly into how Guardians amass power. Plus the Light only wants to help so long as it doesn't put itself in danger, as it was pretty eager to bail at the onset of the first Collapse.

Then there's the whole vibe that Light and Dark are completely counter to natural reality, with them both being paracausal forces.

Seething

D1 hinted that it might have been the Warminds (enormous super-intelligent human-built AI) who intentionally crippled the Traveler's ability to leave. Like they fired some nukes at the right spot or bent some current of Light energy, but what they did forced the Traveler to stay and fight.

That might have been retconned in D2 I'm not really sure.

Not really Destiny is a shit series and Bungie has been dead since 09.

prospective

With all the Destiny shilling, and shitting on 343, while praising Bungie nonstop, I really am starting to believe that most of the Bungiefg shitposters in Halo threads on Yea Forums are trannies/Sonyfags from resetera, Sony reddit, tumblr, and twitter, along with nuBungie.net.

Get a tripcode already.

>Destiny shilling
Really? I thought that game was dead

Because Humanity surviving is a whole lot more important than we thought it was.

So in Sol there are these beings called the Nine, essentially Dark Matter consciences that are bound to the system by the gravity of its planets. If the universe is an ocean, then dark matter is the water. But, we'd never know that the water exists if there wasn't something to displace it. The Nine need physical beings (like humans) to create ripples to allow them to manifest. This is the utilitarian value to humanity surviving, and the only reason I can see as to why the Traveler would willing sacrifice itself.

ODST is great. Virtue signalling is obnoxious but who cares

Check the thread, there are some Destinyfags further shitting up this thread.

How about you? This is a Halo thread, take that Destiny shit somewhere else.

You actually saved a twitter screencap because it had a word you don't like. Please stop breathing.
