A shitty $200 1440p monitor from Monoprice that they've since discontinued. Probably due to the fact that their panels have dead pixel problems out the ass. When I first bought it, there were two dead pixels out of the box, so I sent it back to them, they sent me a new one with no dead pixels, but now it has one less than 6 months later.

I fell for the curved display meme, so I bought two on Amazon, this one from Philips which is full hd, and a 1440p "QLED" one from Samsung which costed twice as much. The philips had superior colors and a better looking panel compared to the Samsung QLED meme one. The difference in resolution in vidya wasn't even noticeable. This monitor has a wide gamut VA panel and the colors are so fucking good it's just ridiculous, especially in bing bing wahoo games the colors are so nice, especially reds and greens. The VA panel also has deep blacks, it almost looks like an OLED sometimes. The response time is a bit shitty but it's barely noticeable.

I have OP's monitor at work (it,s the Dell P2419H), it's an ok monitor with good ergonomics but the panel is not very good, and has washed out colors even for an IPS.

Overall though, VA is the superior panel techology, has minimal backlight bleeding, huge viewing angles, ridiculously deep blacks, and doesn't have glow issues like IPS and you can get wide gamut monitors at the same price as your typical 70% sRGB IPS. Only issues with VA are cloudy grays (noticeable in maturegames) and poor response times.

I'm using a 27" 1440p/144Hz panel alongside a 27" 1080p/60Hz panel and I regret buying the latter immensely, despite it being a quality monitor. By itself I'm sure it's fine, but having the resolution/refresh rate differences right next to each other really makes the weaker monitor look like utter shit, even when just doing basic web browsing or whatever

Like few ppl in this thread, I have a Dell 1440p/144hz g-sync monitor. However, I don't use it for gaming anymore, only for browsing. Ever since I got an LG Oled a few months ago, I've been using that for gaming, and for watching kino of course. Yes, it's doesn't have gsync, or a crazy-fast response time, but it's fast enough. The picture quality just blows away any monitor I'v ever used. I know I sound like a shill but it's true. I am a tad worried about burn-in, but I never play same game for more than a few weeks anyway, so hopefully it won't be an issue..

Am I going to fall for a meme by buying a 21:9 monitor? With my hardware (i5-7600K, GTX 1060 6GB, 8 GB or DDR4 RAM at 2133 MHz), I'm never going to reach consistent 120/144 FPS on a 1080p monitor or 60 FPS on a 2K one, but I think I'll manage 60 FPS on a 2560x1080 monitor just fine.

I run dual UE590Ds. Both of them were pretty cheap used ($200 and $250 canadian). Can't go back to lower than 4k after these, though im probably gonna get something bigger down the line. You really need something like 32" minimum if you're gonna do 4k unscaled.

AMD greatly supports open-source drivers on Linux, to the point where open source AMD drivers are the best on Linux now. They've given the community a lot of documentation on their hardware to work with.

Nvidia on the other hand has not been so friendly.

I'm over rank 100 in MHW, and I'm at the end of Sekiro, both of them I played on Linux with an RX580.

Seems like RX580 out performs the 1060 slightly in MHW. Some games the 1060 is slightly better. The RX580 is a bit cheaper than 1060 though.

All DirectX11 games on Linux use DXVK which translates DirectX11 to Vulkan. So I technically played Sekiro and MHW with Vulkan.

Amazing how mainly one guy and the open source community can make DXVK better than DirectX11 drivers on Windows.

24" 1080p 144hz or 24" 1440p 144hz? Been wanting a higher resolution monitor for awhile but I'm not sure if the difference between 1080p and 1440p on a 24" monitor is noticeable enough to justify buying a 1440p one.

Don't beat around the bush. No API wrapper will be anywhere near as efficient. Also as I said before gamers don't care about linux. Even proton has massive issues which doesn't make it worth it over just playing on windows.

As for drivers if AMDs drivers were so good why do they need Vulkan to perform the best? That clearly suggests theres some headroom there which is untapped because of the single threaded dx11 driver which is known to be non optimal. Vulkan/dx12 takes the responsibility out if AMDs hands and puts it on the devs. If you compare nvidia on dx11 and Vulkan theres barely any difference because the cards are usually tapped out even on dx11 with very efficient multi threaded drivers.

I can claim the argument of not allowing AMD to gain a monopoly over gaming because they're also in the consoles. That's one way of shifting things as being anti or pro consumer. See how dumb it sounds? That's why your argument about linux sounds like to me.
