It's grindy as fuck and tedious but it's so fucking rewarding, when you get a good piece of gear it feels amazing, when you finally hit 60 it feels amazing, even questing feels more rewarding if you spent 20 minutes collecting raptor heads that have a 10% drop rate you earned it.

Skinning while leveling up is a meme and barely makes gold unless you plan to grind mobs to level. Just take engineering from the start.

They're going to roll out patches mirroring the original release schedule fairly well up to Naxx with 1 or 2 minor changes IIRC that makes it not as easy to bypass T1 completely for min-maxxers. I imagine after the multiple year long journey that will be if it was popular enough they may restart the servers and make it kind of a "Season" type deal. We'll have to see. Also it's all part of a normal sub, no extra fee.

For the time you spend skinning from 1-50 you can grind for 2 hours at 60 and make the same.

just take herbalism and mining and amass as much shit and gold as you can and then drop mining for engineering at end game so you can build all the gadgets you need. I'll be more than likely playing a Ele/Resto Tauren Shaman for PVP because I like how War Stomp synergises with totems and it gives a class with no hard disables an AOE stun which is pretty sick. Hardiness sounds good also but there's clearly pros/cons. For instance I don't think you'd regularly get use out of Blood Fury in PVP even on a enhancement/resto build considering you're basically mortal striking yourself for 25 seconds which could be an entire fight.

Does anyone happen to know where NA servers are typically hosted? East or west coast? I'm EU but I'm considering just playing on NA because europeans are usually anti social as fuck. Probably because of language barriers but the cultural differences between countries helps none either. All you have to do is look at EU and NA TF2 servers. It's night and day.

No, not because they're not popular. It has nothing to do with population. The games are now designed in such a way that you sit in a city from level 15 onwards and just spam queue and don't even bother with the open world whatsoever. Crafting is barely relevant, no real economy. You can just buy gold if you need anything. Zero open world PVP. Sharding, queues for everything. The game is a tiny, isolated experience now. I made one friend in the few months I played MoP. One. It's not massive anymore and it's barely an RPG so it's losing it's grip on being able to be defined as an MMORPG.

I guess you're right about engineering. What I'm really bothered about though is I want to eventually PVP as ele/resto. So engineering would be super nice to have. Do I take Mining/Engineering and forego having any means to gather for consumables and maybe, MAYBE make money off of mining? Or do I take Mining/Herbalism, amass a stock pile and eventually just take engineering and max it and have it alongside Herbalism? I've seen people have Herbalism/Engineering before.

Anything I should really know about playing a healer? Specifically a priest. Basically my entire time playing WoW from vanilla up to cata when I quit was as a prot warrior as well as fury throughout some of WotLK as well as the small amount of time I played in WoD and almost entire time playing FFXIV was as a DPS. Healer is the only role I really have little experience with in an MMO. Dwarf is my favorite alliance race so I'm obviously gonna go with that as a priest for fear ward since it's a desired ability and obviously I am going to go holy. I've played one to around 30 on private servers and it seemed very easy as far as leveling goes.

That being said my main question is if there is anything in particular I should know about? Any sort of particular nuisances I have to deal with as a priest or just general advice for playing the class in general? I already know about consumable requirements for buffs and the importance of using lower ranked spells for mana conservation.

Drink at every opportunity.
NEVER over heal.
Use lower rank spells to efficiently fill out your friendly HP bars.
FUCK dps. They can just fuck right off. In raids you'll have 20+ dps. You can lose one retard.
NEVER heal a rogue that has agro. They have many ways to avoid that damage.

Mana regeneration kicks up 5 seconds afer you last casted a spell. Always be casting, but cancel often if the heal doesn't need to go through. Down rank spells to be more efficient with mana. Spam r1 spells if you're healthy on mana and wanna fish for procs. MP5 is very important.

Thanks anons will definitely keep that all in mind. Biggest hurdle for me is not being used to a mana based skill system but I have plenty of levels to get used to all that so I should be fine.

Let's be real here. Several groups usually only have a comp that lets them go up the final druid boss and the giant elemental at most. The healer usually burns through all their mana while immediately getting targetted down, especially if they're a Shaman rather than priest healer, the dps tend to flail around not knowing what to attack, and the tank can't hold much aggro yet. Not to mention it's at the end, and when you fuck up, no one wants to try it again. It's probably one of the harder early game bosses in general.

I wish the PvP server was fun but it always seems to devolve into 70% 1vs2 "PvP", 20% 1vs1meFAGGIT but is usually an opportune gank with mob aggro, and some 10% mixture of dungeon / elite quest groups and raid vs raids running into one another.

1vs1 is decent and the group vs group / raid vs raid shit is fucking superb but it's hard to justify dealing with the mostly miserable PvP experience with a little bit of the good shit. Especially when BGs provide a better experience 19/20 times anyway.

If you're constantly palling around with a m8 or playing a gank centric class then the PvP server is definitely better than the PvE one but it's hard to recommend that shit for a substantial amount of specs unless you're dropping fuckloads of gold every time you go out in the world to respec.

For PvP undead, PvE troll but it doesn't matter much compared to alliance where you have insanely good racials like fear ward. Just pick whatever one you like best.

The majority of them are undead but it's pretty equal in terms of strength. Popping berserking can lead to some pretty insane wand dmg/burst healing which is why I prefer Troll. Undead tend to do better in PvP but it's not as a significant choice between Nelf/Humans v Dwarves

Want to get shit done at your pace without anyone else fucking with you? Go PvE
Want to have that constant feeling that someone can kill you out of nowhere, while being able to kill fools as well for fun? Go PvP.
Personally, the game doesn't feel the same without the PvP aspects, even if its not balanced, it is part of the experience.

PvE servers prevent you from killing opposing faction members outside of gurubashi and BGs, it's safer but also kinda boring and that whole PvP thing is a big part of vanilla.
PvP servers are very zone dependant, in wetlands? Guys there are probably farming whelps and can't be fucked to kill someone far lower than their level. In STV? You better run through the jungle because you'll be running into twinks, ganksquads and hardnut armsfags chopping the head off of everything with their whirlwind, NEVER go in without a group unless you want to be camped. Also, if you roll PvP, skip redridge as it's pretty much permacamped by PvE hordies and premade carries.

TL;DR, PvE is easymode, PvP is like walking through the shit part of Baghdad in that not everyone will want to kill you but there's a good chance someone's gonna eye you up and jump you.

Druid. Warrior and rogue are both pretty slow to level with warrior being a good deal worse. Paladin is fucking boring and is never viable as dps late game. Druid isn't really viable as melee dps late game either but they're better than paladin and one of the easiest classes to level.

All melee can level well enough, Warrior is just the most gear dependant.
Rogue is probably the best since it has a high amount of control, meaning you can easily bail if things start going south.

Warrior is the best pick if you're interested in eventually doing melee dps. They do top charts around the AQ40 tier but they're still great up until then. As an added bonus you can always slap on some tanking gear, maybe respec depending on the content, and get instant groups for any dungeon you need. It's true that warriors are a pain in the cock to level, but once you're there they are a great fucking class. Don't even play Paladin unless you want to wear a dress and heal the true alphas.

Like I said, warrior is viable. You just need to put a little more care into your leveling process, maybe team up with a priest friend if you can.

Essentially it's grouping spell usage together so things like two simultaenous polymorphs or charges can occur. IT also enables you to do some memes like using an ability or item that costs HP to damage you and pull you out of a polymorph. It's how the game worked back then. It will also improve server stability so larger WPVP is more viable.

Good choice. You won't compete with other melee DPS. You get kited to shit in PVP. It's pretty boring anyways aside from RNG memes kicking in on occasion and you blowing someone the fuck out in one swing. I prefer ele for PVP honestly. Regardless, you'll be healing in raids anyway. If you want to reliably melee dps go Rogue or Warrior. Just keep in mind you'll be expected to tank dungeons as you level. You don't need to prot spec at all. Just carry a decent shield.

Reminder that Berserking usage is inconsequential in PVE as a healer and you'll clear with or without it and it's straight up meme in PVP.
Reminder that enhancement will get kited 24/7 and is only worth playing for leveling reasons.
Reminder that Axe Specialisation isn't even going to come into the equation because enhancement is literally retri spec of the horde and other classes do Nightfall botting better.
Reminder enhancement won't get to use Stormstrike in raids because it takes up a debuff slot.

Infernals and Doomguards that warlocks can summon are actually mobs that can be subject to the spell Enslave Demon. So you can just drop them (usually the infernal because Ritual of Doom needs a group to summon, or you need to get a Curse of Doom proc), release it, die because of the aggro it has against you, and then it acts like a regular hostile mob.

I'm not sure what that is. I didn't play much wow back in the day. I played a lot more guild wars. Friend that's playing too will be rolling rogue

Ritual of Doom requires a party all participating in the ritual to summon the demon. It sacrifices someone in the process.

So warlocks can get a spell called Ritual of Doom, I think they learn it from a dropped item, followed by a quest. Once you get it, using a Demonic Idol reagent (1g per use), you get four other dumb schmucks and you summon an altar that everyone clicks on. Like the retail Ritual of Summoning. Anyways, when it completes, it instagibs one random player (including the summoning warlock), and a doomguard is summoned. It acts like a regular lvl 60 hostile mob, until it's enslaved by any warlock.

You're poverty up until 60 where you'll still be poverty unless you get propped up by a guild to funnel you gear, and even then you'll still be poverty in 1v1 PvP. Roll mage.

Fuck Cataclysm but I share your sentiment. Vanilla fucking sucked I'm just hoping they eventually progress to other expansions when classes actually became fun, rotations became more fleshed out, and actual raid mechanics.

It's called frontstabbing more commonly I think. Basically, you stand in front of a mob and keep strafing to the sides. The server lag on private servers allows you to backstab from the front, since they can't keep up. A few retards seem to think it'll work on blizzards servers when classic comes out, even though it only works because private servers are shit.

Horde questing is so fucking lame but at the same time I ran though Alliance questing like 20+ times already. I feel conflicted.
