That was a decade ago. The MUGEN community nowadays is very open and sharing now.

This is true, the community has lightened up a lot. Of course there isn't nearly as much interest in Mugen now as here used to be, but still.

Have you ever had an edited character so good that you identify them even outside of MUGEN as the edit instead of the original?

There are things in MUGEN right now like BBTAG characters, fucking Peppa Pig, and a necromancer girl whose skeleton summoning has been blown way out of proportion.

But hardly anyone outside of the MUGEN community gives a fuck about them.

I didn't delve very far into the whole thing. I do remember focusing on characters from Guilty Gear, JoJo, Northstar and bosses who were unplayable in their respective titles. Some odds and ends characters who just seemed really well constructed/edited, etc.

Was that the Shiki with this special? I think he could also go into Nanaya mode too.

Where do I start if I want to get into this game?

I always want to make my own OC mugen fighter character, but then someone told me you had to buy hitboxes back in 2007 and I was like, "nah, that ain't happening."

I started from scratch and simply built my roster as I went. it was pretty ugly and took forever to organize it.

You could start with an already made collection to get an idea and tinker with it a bit.

When you get comfortable with it, you can start your own collection with a screen pack with a good roster size. Look up characters that first come to mind and snag them. Stages and music are essential as well.

yeah get vselect it automatically opens the screenpack's select screen and you can easily add in characters and stages without having the edit the select.def file

Well, outside of maybe ten changed I made myself, it's not really mine. Although before I found out about QoF I had made my own collection of dozens of characters.

It's still good.

I like this Broly, had him face off against Mario and Luigi and at one point Mario did one of his moves and Broly did one of his quotes, pretty fucking cinematic.

MUGEN could use some more Asura Blade/Buster characters. At the very least, both Alices have been converted.

Furthermore, there seem to be two meme edits of Buster Alice out there. One has her summoning all kinds of shit, and it's actually made by the same guy who compiled that Vinesauce Joel MUGEN game. The other also summons shit, but it's limited to only skeletons; however it's like a big variety of skeletons like the Doom revenant, Castlevania skeleton, and dry bones from Mario; her supers have her summoning major skellingtons like Ghost Rider, a necro dragon, and Skeletor.

They're both good shit.
