- After several years eventually all games reach their minimum times for human performance levels, all forms of risk and "fun" are stamped out, and the original creators are all gone or pushed aside
- All these years the "charity" being donated to wasn't actually using that money for cancer research, but cancer "AWARENESS" which means telling people about how dangerous cancer is (aka "90% of charity funding goes to administration costs" aka "it's a scam")
- George Soros is yet another rich sociopath who sets up scams to get even more money from people, who is tangentially related to the "charity" that AGDQ launders money for -- i'm sorry, "donates" the earnings from the event to.

Didn't it come out that the charity was turning around giving back a percentage of the donations to him, so it would look like most of the money was going to the charity but not really?

This was also around when GDQ began enacting a lot of No-Fun-Allowed rules (you can trace the very MOMENT GDQ started its descent: when Knitting Woman interrupted RunnerGuy's in-costume OoT 100% run in 2013; soon after she became a showrunner for future GDQs and was responsible for a lot of the no-fun rules, including "no costumes"). Plus GDQ was also beginning to get more serious funding and advertising, which accelerated the no-funning.

Basically, Cosmo, peak tumblrism, bitter seething GDQ showrunners, and selling out all came together to this perfect shitstorm that just ruined speedrunning as a hobby and a community.
