I think last gen will be much more fondly remembered than this gen. Last gen may have started all the shitty current trends, but this gen has absolutely been devoured by all of the shitty monetization practices.

There wasn't much but I had a reason to own two of them even if I could've done without one of them. More than I can say for this none at all generation.

As much as I would hate to pay to play online, I still love what comes with PS+ and GWG.
That said, MS has made it pretty easy to get free subscriptions to Live.

I'm deadass serious when I say this was the absolute worst generation of consoles. The N64 was carried by less than 2 dozen decent titles, and the psx visuals are dogshit to look at. Saturn has some pretty good titles, but it was just another console for Sega to abandon. Jaguar doesn't have enough memorable titles to justify its existence, and literally WHO owned a 3DO?

I completely disagree. Gen 7 brought a lot of meaningful stuff to the table. Games were HD, wireless controllers and online play were standardized, digital distribution became feasible, and it went on for a really long time so you could see a really clear advancement in the games. The Wii's massive success ended up derailing everything and then the end of the generation was depressing, but all in all, it brought you tons of great and influential games (even if they weren't always both at the same time).

This current generation is by far the worst. There has been nothing new, nothing innovative, Playstation is the only console walking away with all of the money and Sony sits on their laurels, and the mid-generation upgraded "Pro" consoles are pure unadulterated cancer. The PS4 is the single worst console I have ever owned.

Previous gen was supposed to be a full HD one, this one is really what it should have been. Meanwhile on PC we had 4770k and GTX 780 Ti already doing far higher than 60 fps.

The PS3 was kino. Didn't sell as well as PS2/PS4 because of the price point, but there is a great lineup of games on that system.

If you are knocking the entire generation it's probably because you either didn't own a PS3 and Xbox 360 gave you the trash you asked for, or you came up with PSX/PS2 and are now growing out of vidya.

to be fair consoles appear to evolve with the consumer. HD televisions weren't common place until early to mid 7th gen. Just like the xbone x and ps4 pro happened to release around the same time 4K televisions became dirt cheap. you can get a 49" 4K model for $180-220 these days.

yeah the colors were kinda fucking shit but it worked fine in games that had a grey atmosphere like gow. The 2011 era graphics don't sit well with me.

Thankfully many developers whined about it, so now they are giving them a Zen 2.

I don't think it was worse than this gen. In the latter half, PS3 had at least gotten a decent number of (exclusive) games I was interested in, so I bought one to play them and haven't regretted it. This gen I was planning to wait until enough games come out and buy a console again, but it looks like I've waited the entire gen for that to happen and it ultimately hasn't come to pass. The Switch might still have a chance though, I might get one for a few titles, but there's basically no game on Xbone I want to play and there are like 2-3 titles on PS4. It was very disappointing to me.

PlayStation 3 was so bad, its what drove me back to PC gaming. So I thank Sony for making such a shit console.

The Wii had decent to pretty good first and third party exclusives despite all of the shovelware. Because of its success, devs actually tried to utilize it's gimmick unlike the Wii U and Switch, to varying success. If you think the PS3/Xbox was just brown grey military shooter shit you're retarded. A lot of retarded practices were pioneered then, but this current gen made those practices into a dystopian nightmare.
