So correct me if I'm wrong but this game has been under development for possibly less than 3 years? Does this alarm anyone else? Apart from all the deranged tranny pandering of course
Bloodlines 2 was conceived shortly after paradox acquired wod

I will still pirate the game
development times from one and a half to 3 years are perfectly average for most games. Being a little over or under wouldn't straight up be a warning sign.
Some games are developed longer and are trash.
Semi related: IN Bloodlines 1, when I find a passcode or a PIN, is that stored somewhere? Or do I need to write them down when I see them?
>Or do I need to write them down when I see them?
You have to write it down. You could just enter it into the console if you don't want to physically write it.
>>coming out in "a few short months"
it's coming out in a year.
3 or so years is perfectly fine for a video game.
Bummer. That's one of the things Human Revolution did alright. Once you got a passcode somewhere, the game told it to you, or gave you the option to hack anyway. Hope Bloodlines 2 improves that.
you assume this game wont be a 4-6 hour game
I guess they thought it wasn't necessary since the passcodes are always found in the immediate area of where you have to use them, and the levels are small.
The devs spent months on a prototype before they even gained permission to make the game, so I'd say the development started even before 2016.
That's a normal stretch, especially on UE4, which is extremely well documented.
Yeah, I only play games that have been in development for at least a decade. It's the sign of true quality.
Yeah, but I'm fast to mix up my numbers with shit like that "was it 1969, or 1996?" that sort of stuff. So it's mostly a "helpful but not absolutely needed" kind of deal.
This sort of thing encourages people to mindlessly open and close text boxes without reading them to have the game save the relevant information. It's bad game design. If I recall correctly, the original Deus Ex saves passcodes in a log accessible in the menu. It's a good compromise because you don't need to have a piece of paper with you, but you also need to be minimally involved when looking through stuff.
I'm in two minds about this. Because if it is a game like Shadowrun, where you are supposed to talk to people and learn hints from context, sure. But on the other hand, you have modern games where these emails are just mindless, boring fluffpieces with the same shit in every game.. I can't really fault anyone for not reading those.
Like this gay from Polygon who read all the Skyrim books: youtube.com
Who wants to read all this shit that has NOTHING to do with the actual game.
It's already starting in Bloodlines, yeah sure, reading the bits that give you the codes is important, but do you really want to read about the cause of death for every body in morgue? The injuries for all the patients? All the Bounty hunting cases? It's fluff and looking at one or two is neat for "expanding the world" purposes, but essentially, pointless to the main game.
Why would it be when the standard for RPGs is far longer?
How good is Thaumaturgy in the first game? Isn't blowing people up bit unneccery when you also have suicide in the other tree? I'm debating between Malkvaian, Toraedor or Tremere for my first playthrough
It comes out March 2020. It'll be roughly 4 years of development which is a good amount of time.
Did they say it's Unreal? I heard it was on the Dying Light engine.
where did you get march?
Yeah, we get it, the ADHD kicks in if you don't have quest markers. Fuck off, newfag.
Blood magic is strong, but you'll be shit on the other forms of combat. I would go all in as a blood mage.
if the "mod support" is bethesda tier with a full sdk this could be the best game of all time. but it most likely won't be and vanilla game will probably suck and be super short. guess i'll pirate and wait and see
Blood Boil isn't that useful, but the first few abilities are very powerful. It's probably the most powerful discipline in the game, only Celerity may be able to compete.
Malkavian if you want batshit insane, stealth and guns.
Toreador if you want super speed, especially fun with guns.
Tremere if you want to be a mage.
None of the clans are weak.
sauce on this claim?
Not march but they said Q1 2020
imagine having this low of an iq that you have trouble reading material written for a video game. i get not being engaged by modern games' shitty lore though
You sound really, really autistic. Are you sure the latest looter shooter of the month isn't more your style?
Steam page.
It's not about questmarkers, it's about "interesting text relevant to your quests" vs "a million unrelated world building fluff pieces"
>bending reality this hard
Calm down, Dr Strange. Nobody said it was DIFFICULT reading material. Only that it is fucking pointless, because it has little to nothing to do with the actual game to learn about some co-workers dealing drugs, or that the guy in the morgue got killed by being baseball-batted to death, (despite the tutorial actually being skipped but oh well).
Some of it is neat, sure. But most of it is just fucking boring and pointless.
If I was autistic I WOULD want to read all that shit.
How did Jack get into the locked room with the safe before the fledgling? Brujah can't turn into mist or bats.
>Uhh... Shortcut.
You LITERALLY hear the sound of a breaking window.
>mfw I originally played I thought Jack was Gangrel for some reason.
If E3 has no gameplay its fucked
The windows in the room aren't broken though. That was just the general chaos being wrought by the Sabbat outside.
Here is your side quest writer for tonight. She believes all vampires should be romanceable.
I'm going to play Bloodlines for the first time soon, should I go guns or melee?
It’s never coming out
Melee is viable all the way through. Guns are useless at the start and become better and better the further you get through the game, simply because the guns you have access to in the early game are garbage. By endgame guns are much better than melee. You should probably choose your weapon preference based on your clan. Toreador and Malkavian are well suited to using guns. Tremere as well but they'll use blood magic most of the time. Brujah and Nosferatu are better off using melee. Gangrel is probably better off using unarmed but melee could work too. Ventrue can go either way. Always put a few points into unarmed, as it affects your feed success chance in combat. If you want to focus on guns I'd switch to guns once you get to Downtown and just use unarmed while in Santa Monica.
Santa Monica being the starting hub. Downtown is the second hub, and where the first viable guns show up.
Thanks user, I was leaning towards guns so I guess its Ventrue for me in that case. Toreador seem like massive faggots and Malks I'll save for a second playthrough.
Stupid pink hair thinking with her vagina

that's a normal game dev cycle, what are you complaining about
Ventrue are pretty good. You have Dominate, which helps in stealth, gives you dialogue options if you level it up and lets you kill human enemies in battle. Fortitude makes you very tanky, and Presence debuffs your enemies, making you even more tanky. You won't deal tons of damage but you'll be nigh invincible and have some cool powers to play around with both in combat and in conversations. Just make sure you buy a bunch of blood bags before you head to King's Way in the Hollywood section. Lengthy sewer level, only feeding opportunities are rats and Ventrue can't feed on rats.
She's a good lass
No, if I recall correctly the leftmost window was busted.
If it was not, then just chalk it up to troikas coding limitations. Like the dude complaining about a rip poking out, but his model is just his regular model with no visible damage.
why are people talking about the skills in vampire like they make any difference when you can run through the game spamming whatever weapon you have and not giving a shit and still win
I mean, part of core P&P game is that technically, sure you could try to romance literally anyone? So she's not that wrong.
Keep in mind that it has both "Melee" and "brawl" melee being for melee weapons, and brawl being for fists. As a Gangrel if you go protean, you wanna also go up in Brawl, for other races you want to go in melee if you are the close combat type.
If you go fast enough you can see him going through the window
You can't. I noclipped straight through the wall, there's just a second version of him in there, and the one before the door despawns as soon as the door opens.
>comic book metaphor
stopped reading there. you confirmed your low iq with that
Thanks user, so from what I gathered
>Toreador are fags
>Brujah are rebellious teens and unironic commies
>Ventrue are boring
>Nosferatu are for masochists
>Malks are for quirky tumblr spergs
>Tremere are vampwizards
>Gangrel are furries
>insult someone as low IQ
>doesn't know what a Metaphor is.
Fucking hell man.
I'm sure he knows what a metaphor is, anyone who uses capeshit references however should be hanged
This is mostly correct, though Nosferatu keeping themselves "hidden" really isn't a problem at all. You have to get right in someone's face to freak them out. You do get forced into combat or stealth situations a lot though. Often you're not allowed to take the diplomatic route when dealing with humans.
Speaking of Nosferatu, should I go with persuasion or intimidation this run? I know persuasion is objectively superior, but intimidate can be fun.
Next time I'll call him Haruhi. Better?
That's 2000% a fucking meme made up by autists because the trailer has parkour. They said the trailer "looks like the dying light engine" despite the trailer being ENTIRELY CG. If you look at the screenshots the shaders in use are very clearly UE4, especially the water shaders.
It's not the crossover we need, but it's the crossover we deserve. The spy hijinks would be amazing.
*hacks your webcam*
>you'll be shit on the other forms of combat.
Eh auspex makes up for the weaknesses you have using guns so that's a good backup
I know people recommend Malkavian for first playthroughs but the Ventrue seem much cooler to me. Is Malkavian so good that I absolutely should play it first playthrough?
Most people recommend Malkavian for the second playthrough. I'm not sure what to recommend. On one hand, you won't understand a goddamn thing if you're a Malkavian on your first playthrough, and might not appreciate a lot of the changes. On the other hand, not understanding a goddamn thing probably puts you in the same shoes as your character, so it will probably be a magical experience.
its a massapiece
Just do whatever sounds best since it's a roleplaying game. The "Malk first" comments are mostly intended for people who might want to play Malk first but keep seeing posters here saying not to.
Playing Malk first is definitely unique though, even compared to a repeat playthrough with a Malk.
Sensing a little Tremere bias, I like it
What seems cool about ventrue? They're by far the most boring clan in the game with barely any unique dialogue
It's all the tremere's fault.
They started late 2015 and it will release Q1 2020. I don't know how that is "less than 3 years" to you.
>Not choosing the best clan
Are there any cool Tremere reskin mods that give you any trenchcoats like what the Ventrue chads have?
High starting Persuasion, and Dominate/Fortitude can be fun. It just depends on your personality too.
What is the most fucked up thing in WoD?
