Nothing really wrong with that. You pretty much have to drain his vit anyway, since his posture is ridiculous and his reeing interrupts your pressure.

it is a free stun on every enemy in the game. beasts will literally go down for like 10 seconds.

It's basically free damage or a free opportunity to heal. Using them when their HP is high and damaging them makes their posture stay higher for longer which remarkably shortens fights. Without that initial damage to soften their posture they can often recover it completely for minutes if you're still unfamiliar with their moveset.

He got walled by Ludwig as a combination of his stupidity and also playing on NG+. He went back and beat the DLC later on NG.

He lied about the death count. He said it doesn't count as a death as long as you don't hit the loading screen. His actual death count is like 3x that number.
