I'd prefer a fully fledged console or handheld version but that won't happen.

People who were born in 2000 are growing nostalgic around the age of 18 and they most likely played this game when they were younger so they are reminiscing of it.
The reason there are so many nostalgia threads is the world is so shit so people want to go back to the good old days. Whether that's the truth is up for debate but I find myself also looking to the past in the chaos of the world right now. You can call me a zoomer, cuck, or whatever. I don't care too much. Sa2 is 10/10 and was the last good sonic game at least to me. Was the most structured and consistent and gave out a nice bang at the end.

Yet keeps crying about elements where Sonic and co benefit not just getting from point A to B, like Chao caring simulator, and could incentivize one out of many other collectibles worth actually looking for like emeralds, plot mcguffins, red star rings, etc
