US version will include Altered Beast, Castlevania: Bloodlines, Comix Zone, Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Ecco the Dolphin, Gunstar Heroes, Shining Force, Sonic The Hedgehog, Space Harrier II, and ToeJam & Earl.
Genesis has Blast Processing (TM) for maximum niggerdicks per second
Ian Rodriguez
>no 6 button controllers Its like they learn nothing from sony.
Jack Reed
I would probably buy it for Castlevania alone. But Sonic 1 is fine too.
Lincoln Martinez
If you want the ultimate redpill, grab one of the sonic genesis collections and find out. Some really great stuff on there.
Sebastian Foster
>>no 6 button controllers
what did the extra 3 buttons do in games?
explain the controller to me
Samuel Powell
Can anyone explain to me why this shit is still coming out in 2019 without the option to buy additional games online? I mean I have one of those fucking PSTVs, they play PS1 games but you have to buy the roms from sonys store. Why the fuck did they not give you the option to buy them on their shitty PS classic thing? How hard would it be to make some cheap ass storefront for NES/SNES/Genesis/PS1 games and sell that shit? How about a fucking micro SD card slot in those things?
Leo Sanders
>this choice would forever alter your life's path >chose Sega >didn't become a soiboy later in life Real men went down the path of Sega.
It's the type of gift a cool uncle buys for his nephew who has never touched this controller before.
Nicholas Anderson
Oh I guarantee it won't support the original carts.
Jose Reyes
Why not? Even the terrible atgames ones did
Ayden Diaz
A lot of games used them in the later half of the Genesis lifespan. Hell Comix Zone is one of them. Using items is a pain in the pass on a three button controller. Have to push C, then use the d-pad to select. On a six button controller, you just hit X Y or Z and you're done. Also lets you use the C button as a quick special move. Or assign it to block, if you hate fighting game style hold back to block.
>Nintendo leads to onions >Sega leads to furry The only winning move was not to play.
Michael James
>pain in the pass on a three button controller.
will they sell an seperate 6 button controller?
I didn't see if the controllers were detachable from the unite
Jordan Bennett
>Anal Log Nigger ST for autistic purists >Emulators for normal people >Countless collections with extras if you want reddit trivia or to be legit, including the amazing 50 games collection that dropped for Switch.
Cant see the selling point of another plastic box.
Gavin Powell
Add Contra: Hard Corps and I'll be a happy camper.
Hope they at least make 6-button controllers a separate accessory, though.
Cameron Murphy
reminder sega won the console war. more genesis/megadrives/whatever-3rd-worlders-called-it were sold than SNES
Parker Cooper
Because it's a mini and too small for the original carts to fit.
Real talk though, if you are into retro styled games, the Genesis is worth a try, it was a genuinely unique system full of fast paced games.
Blake Clark
Eternal proof that to make a successful video game business, you need to focus more on the "business" than the "video game" side of things.
Grayson Carter
Can a smart person explain to me why they don't put as many games as they can on these mini consoles? They don't intend to sell more roms piecemeal to the consumer, they don't let you add shit on your own, and space couldn't possibly be an issue since these games aren't even a megabyte big. You'd think they'd at least put every first party title on there, why the fuck are they only putting 40 total?
Because then it'd detract from the genesis collections they pump out every gaming gen
Jacob Jones
>You'd think they'd at least put every first party title on there, why the fuck are they only putting 40 total?
Whet the appetite of the consumer. Build brand familiarity and loyalty.
Cooper Anderson
I have a bunch of games and most of the time they do nothing.
Carter Stewart
they already have. you can buy it now. official genesis and saturn cons were released this month for usb and original ports. they were gonna release the 3 button cons but I guess they needed them for the mini. dreamcast and more saturn color variations are coming later
Just my thoughts, but if it says something like "100 Games" it might look cheap or low quality to the consumer because of how many there are
Lucas Morgan
>official genesis and saturn cons were released this month for usb and original ports Official sega licensed ones? If so, I might have to jump the gun and grab me a saturn controller.
Ayden Ward
Honestly I prefer the 3 button. Doesn't have as many buttons/usefulness sure, but it looks more iconic which is probably what they're going for here.
Joshua Nelson
Are we talking made with the quality levels of the actual Genesis controllers, or just some shoddy lookalikes that feel like cheap fragile plastic?
Lincoln Cooper
shinobi 3 also made use of it and will likely also be included in this.
Andrew Moore
That collection has input lag, meanwhile this is done by the porting gods m2.
Jaxon Jackson
I mean, at least SEGA is giving us 40 games. Nintendo and Sony gave us only 21 and in Sony's case, some of them weren't even good.
The main reason to buy a mini-console is to kinda experience how things were in the old days without having to spend a fortune on old and overpriced cartridges.
Austin Fisher
Imagine Sony but more more retarded and less gay
Landon Gutierrez
THIS! EU and US get buttfucked as always by the slit eyed kikes. SEGA is literally selling sloppy seconds sub-standard goods to the US/EU customers while the radioactive Nips get the proper treatment. If you are buying this trash you are supporting this kind of cancerous business practices.
Hacking more games into these things more than makes up for the limited selection.
Nintendo actually left a hidden message for hackers in the SNES Mini telling them to enjoy adding more games to the product, so they knew people were going to do it.
Ethan Miller
>same shit that's in every Genesis collection
Mason Fisher
It will have sloppy emulation and shit sound quality like all the previous Genesis mini consoles and half the games will be chinese shovelware
I want a usb saturn con for use with mednafen, but I really want a white one like in the Segata Shanshiro commercials, but I can't get a date for when they plan on releasing it
Cameron Wood
Pit Fighter?
Carter Gonzalez
No Sonic 3 no buy
Kayden Foster
Silent Hill 1 on PSX. 2, 3, 4 on PS2.
Phantasy Star 1 on MS. 2, 3, 4 on GEN.
Anyone else hate this shit.
Noah Powell
>Nintendo actually left a hidden message for hackers in the SNES Mini telling them to enjoy adding more games to the product Wow wait what? I've never seen that before.
Angel Stewart
which is ironic because the mega drive sold far less in japan than in the west.
Chase White
They primarily specialized in bringing arcade games to home consoles. This was a pretty big deal in the 90s since arcades were the cutting edge of gaming technology. However, as arcades died out, so did Sega's hardware.
James Bennett
official licensed using the original molds
Cooper Bailey
nothing like sony
don't trust this transnigger
Connor Roberts
literally every genesis game is about 15kb in size and playable right now i dont know why idiots buy these
>Not in genesis collection >Hardly mentioned outside of mania >Not on genesis mini Honestly at this point I'm scared we may never see sonic 3 rereleased again.
Idk if I'd call myself spineless (especially when it comes to sega) But I always preferred the 3 button design to the 6 button. Granted that could be biased since I only had a 3 button genesis and never an official 6 button one. Besides, worst scenario I just import a 6 button and have the best of both worlds
I kind of want mini console shelf ornaments but cant bring myself to spend the money. i got the ps classic for $25 which was worth it for the controllers. theres a chance the sega mini will get discounted but the nes and snes never will so fuck it
I'm still upset about that shit britbong company porting games to PS4/XBO the emulation fucking sucks it's literally worse than MS DOS emulation
Jason Sanders
t. brainlet
Luis Turner
I have the ps3 collection, but since sonic 3 is the only notable game that's missing I'm ok with staying with the ps4 collection.
Connor Reyes
But it seems Nintendo may have been expecting enterprising fans to take a crack at the microconsole's security - a secret message has been found within the system's code.
The message was written by an unnamed programmer under the alias of "The Hanafuda Captain" - a reference to the Japanese hanafuda playing cards which Nintendo once sold before breaking into the video game business.
Here it is in full:
"This is the hanafuda captain speaking. Launching emulation in 3...2...1. Many efforts, tears and countless hours have been put into this jewel. So, please keep this place tidied up and don't break everything! Cheers, the hanafuda captain."
Lincoln Rivera
What's wrong with the ps4 collection? I'm playing it rn and it seems to work fine.
Ryder Gutierrez
This is what i fear yeah. Didn't know about this, i'm gonna do some research.
Carter Morris
>Eternal Champions?
holy shit,yes
I used to play as XAVIER
youtu.be/SLjHbAlIsKw 'Deep Water' is not a developer or publisher. Is was basically Sega's own "Adults Only" rating for extra violent games, independent of the fledgling ESRB.
A few titles (Duke Nukem 3D, Eternal Champions, etc) were rated Mature, and also received the Deep Water tag for their releases on he Saturn/CD.
Jonathan Myers
my hacked 3ds has all these games
Joseph Ward
Why don't they just put Sonic 3 & Knuckles PC Collection music?
Gavin Smith
>paying for "mini" consoles when this beauty is available Why get 20 something games (which will probably be missing your favorites) when you can get all the 8/16-bit systems in one little box? Did I mention it can also play arcade (SNK, CP-System I, Dash, II)?
Gabriel Morales
>Gigantic working Saturn controller >Bringing Segata Sanshiro on stage They're making it feel like there's gonna be some big announcement, but knowing SEGA they're probably just dicking around
Samuel Bell
OK ASSHOLES
HERE IS THE REAL FUCKING QUESTION!
what will this fucking thing have that other GENESIS COLLECTIONS DONT ALREADY HAVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
remember, fuckers, we have at LEAST 2 generations of sega collections from PS2 to PS4 and other systems. fuckers.
also, im /vr/ and i own most of these anyway.
Henry Garcia
Because nobody wants those shitty replacement tracks, but SEGA doesn't want to hawk up the cash for soundtrack royalties and so they decide it's better not to release it at all.
Gabriel White
>Altered Beast >Mean Bean Machine Have these on a plug n' play shaped like Sonic's head. >Shining Force >Comix Zone Have these on Sega Smash Pack 2. >Sonic Have the actual cart for my Genesis, as well as Ecco 2 and Sonic 2. How much is this thing again? I was hoping it would have Shining Force 2. Still glad to see Ecco one made the cut.
if it has Warriors of the Eternal Sun I will buy this even though I never plan to hook it up I will just continue playing Kega Fusion only now I will use official sega 3 button instead of breddy good but still knockoff hyperkin 6 button
Logan Wright
I'd be interested in Castlevania, Space Harrier, and TJ&E. The rest have been rereleased a million times, it'd be cool to get cool shooters and beat 'em ups in there.
Brandon Russell
Whoa whoa whoa, they already made a mini megadrive/genesis and it was dogshit.
Daniel Richardson
i wish I was at my pc so i could post my webm of Segata punching the giant saturn pad
I have to disagree with you vehemently. I still have my Mega Drive and of course it came with the shitass 3-button controllers. The 6-button controller is leagues better in terms of ergonomy, built quality, button placement and overall comfort. That thing is legendary for a reason and was pretty much copypasted for the Saturn. Why would you voluntarily settle for less because SEGA wants to rip its US/EU fans off? This kind of thinking/reasoning is what blows my mind. Why do people defend and try to rationalise corporations trying to fuck them over in the age of the internet, when information is instant.
I only buy officially licensed Nintendo™ products that come with their official seal of approval.
Michael Ortiz
This time they're really serious about it. Really.
Grayson Young
This time M2 is making it.
Jacob Roberts
Catch me when it's the mini Dreamcast and we'll talk.
Cameron Fisher
And the mini Saturn
James Perez
>potential for games that other consoles/compilations dont have, even from 3rd parties. >Emulation software made by the gods of genesis emulation on consoles: M2 >an actual sturdy quality product, unlike the genesis flashbacks who are cheap and fragile.
Carter Torres
imagine if the nes mini came with the top loader dog bone controller. its the same shit. the three button was THE gen/md controller for the VAST majority of its lifespan.
Jackson Campbell
And the mini 32X! Sorry, I'll just leave.
Leo Murphy
>Why would you voluntarily settle for less because SEGA wants to rip its US/EU fans off? This kind of thinking/reasoning is what blows my mind. Why do people defend and try to rationalise corporations trying to fuck them over in the age of the internet, when information is instant. Simple. I'm easy to please. I see a console that was a big part of my childhood (via collections), and that's enough to make me intrigued. Idc much of how "techncially superior" anything is. If it works and allows me to have fun then that's good enough for me.
Stop being a pushover. The Japanese Mega Drive Mini has the six button.
Colton Howard
TIL that there was a 3 button controller, being in Australia we had the 6 button bundled on our megadrives since launch.
Brayden White
two systems where it would be a struggle to find 40 passable games to include
Michael Campbell
Wouldn't assuredly bet on it. Because, surprise surprise, Sega is retarded - they want to fit as many different series as possible onto this thing in the 40 games, so no series is apparently getting 2 games. We already know Sonic 1 is on the US mini, and Sonic 2 is on the JP mini. Welcome to retarded business decisions, because Revenge of Shinobi is more likely to be on this thing than Shinobi 3.
Hopeless clown world. This is why we can't have nice things. Because of fags like you corporations like SEGA will continue to walk all over the fans/customers. Meanwhile the Nips get the superior product like they should because they know that shit would never fly over there and customers would call them filthy pork molesters.
Oh no doubt in my mind bloodlines will be there. >Classicvanias only >Already have cv1/cv3/gb/cv4 My last guesses for the last 4 games are: -Bloodlines -Either Rondo or Drac X -Rebirth -Kid Dracula or Chronicles
Tyler Nelson
Hamster is doing the Castlevania Collection, not M2.
Alexander Thompson
Nah back then without the internet you didn't realise everyone else already had a product. Just the latest magazines telling you it was in Japan. Japan always had everything first.
Launch came out with some killer 6 games on a cartridge titles but. This is all I needed for the first year.
I never had anymore than 3 buttons anyways why do I need it now?
Levi Lopez
Simon's Quest, Bloodlines, Dracula X SNES, and Adventure ReBirth are likely going to be the other four.
Aiden Parker
pi 3 is shit. use a pc or at the very least a single board with enough power to handle post 16 bit systems
the only valid reason to use a pi3 is to put it in a gameboy shell
Joshua King
Nips are ALWAYS gonna treat us like shit user.
Carson Peterson
These things only exist for nostalgiafags so putting in the one that actually got a US release makes sense. I think Tsu got a 3DS port anyway or is on that Switch Sega AGES collection, don't remember.
Idk man I just only have 3 button controllers on my actual Genesis. I'm used to it and none of the stuff I owned seemed like it needed more than those 3.
Jose Rodriguez
I, for one, welcome our new nihonjin overlords ^__________^
Colton Lopez
besides, theres no way they wont sell the 6-button controller.
Jason Martinez
They mentioned that some of the games on this will have multiple regional versions available, which M2 did for its 3DS Classics. Perhaps Mean Bean Machine will also have the option for the original Puyo Puyo.
Daniel Torres
Is that confirmed, I only saw the confirmation for the Arcade collection.
Connor Garcia
Simons Quest will most likely be saved for the second (metroidvania) collection, since it's more metroidvania then 1 and 3 are. Although side note: I'll get it on ps4, so playing nes games on an actual ps4 with a ps controller is going to feel really weird for a few days I can already tell.
Ryan Ross
Only company whose IPs can go toe to toe with Nintendo. But marred by seemingly infinite stupidity
Jack Wright
The whole shape and build quality of the controller is better you fucking moron. It has nothing to do with the buttons.
Man imagine if SEGA decided to bring back all their ips. Like all of them Imagine a timeline where 2020 showed release dates for new Vectorman, Rocket Knight, Shinobi, Nights, JSR, etc
Justin Murphy
the only games where it would matter are MK, SF, and Samurai Showdown and why would you even want to play the genesis versions?
the small slither of games that utilize the three extra buttons are for shit like press X to use super move instead of A+B like originally programmed
Isaac Martin
It's a fun console dude You should try some emulators and i highly recommend shining force and it's sequel Also Ranger X is freaking dope and Gunstar Heroes Kicks ass Alien Soldier is fun but brutal in difficulty There's so many other games I could list but find them out for yourself user Good luck and LAUNCH ALL 'ZIG'
Brandon Hall
Comix zone is programmed for it. It's already a hard game, made even more maddening with a 3b.
Leo Nguyen
you can already buy it. search amazon for official genesis controller
Jeremiah Turner
is that a fucking burning hammer
David Green
know you're a fucking moron. big three was comfiest
Jacob Hughes
Thunder Force, Shining Force, Phantasy Star...
Eli Roberts
If they do, then good. All for more options. Probably not going for this simple because of how few games are on it though.
I mean, we're getting a new fucking Sakura Wars of all series and it's even getting localized, so nothing's impossible
Connor Jackson
has one of the shittiest dpads. It's way too fucking stiff to play street fighter or streets of rage.
Daniel Morris
it'll never happen but i'd like to see that yu yu hakusho game treasure made. it was neat how despite being a fighting game you didn't feel gimped for only having a three button controller. plus it had 4-player.
Plus a new streets of rage, and the new toejam and earl. Plus the sega ages games. Maybe sega is trying to revive some old series outside of collections.
Hudson Price
I can't wait to get it and play Sonic 2, Toejam and Earl and Altered Beast with my big brother, as if we were 12 again. This really makes me feel things.
pretty sure the toejam and earl thing has nothing to do with sega
Grayson Flores
>tfw no PS4 but forcing myself to buy Shin Sakura Taisen for it anyway to support it fuck I hope it gets ported or something
Sebastian Brown
Nah. Sega is fucking stupid and seeing how they love to outsource their games to shitty western devs for any of their "retro" games like Streets of Rage I'll be content with all of them staying dead. They don't give a fuck about making good games anymore. Just rehashing and releasing Sonic and Yakuza shit.
>People constantly obsess over and praise the SNES >Genesis had more quality games overall and much wider variety to it's library due to Sega's less draconian control over licenses or censorship >Still had almost jack shit for RPGs
>Genesis had more quality games overall Incorrect.
Ethan Sullivan
LC is a good developer if Dragon's Trap was anything to go by.
To be fair too, Gryptonite was a garbage shovelware developer who managed to make the fantastic Shinobi 3D. And then had staff make Volgarr.
Oliver Hughes
This.
Aiden Scott
>no outrun 3 >no new JSR >all those IPs from the dreamcast dead >no nights 3 >no new virtua fighter >no space harrier 3 it really sucks, but at least house of the dead got a new arcade game recently...
Nathan Ramirez
Space Harrier 3 is Planet Harriers. also NO CONSOLE PORT EVER.
Christopher Torres
> Japan gets Rent a Hero and Puyo Puyo Yet again, the West get fucked over
it plays dreamcast fast enough that i beat grandia 2 on it. ps1 plays fine too. its plenty powerful for a $35 board
Nolan Russell
funny enough in terms of specs the Playstation Classic actually beats it out ever so slightly, but the hacking scene is trying to get a PSC-focused Retroarch build out so that it stops crashing all the time and can take full advantage of the system's specs.
Elijah Wright
I don't remember the exact details but I think it has a Vectorman typa thing going on
Brandon Perry
Good taste user, i still remember that badass Medusa theme
People always say otherwise, but Konami is excellent at licensing out their shit.
Ryder Murphy
from another user's perspective If you're looking for action games, Gunstar Heroes is the only notable one of the bunch unless you can get a handle on Comix Zone's brutal difficulty. Ecco is weird. Only played Space Harrier 1. Strategy RPGs aren't my thing. I've owned Mean Bean Machine in collections. Never played Toe Jam & Earl. Sonic 1 is boring compared to 2. And Altered Beast on Genesis is not a very good game.
Jeremiah Garcia
Pretty sure Hard Corps is already announced for that Contra Anniversary Collection. I think.
They've all been re-released, ported, and put in compilations several times. CV Bloodlines hasn't had a single new release since 1994.
Rent-A-Hero is an action RPG, Overhead map screen with side scrolling beat em up battles.
A lazy otaku is accidentally given a high tech super suit in the mail. Realizing how expensive the batteries are, he becomes a hero for hire, doing everything from delivering love notes to taken down terrorist organizations.
Henry Nelson
Don't they already have this at Walgreens or whatever?
Tyler Young
wait what?
lightning force is fucking TF4?! i have 2 and 3, i always wondered why we didn't get a 4. holy shit, my life is a fucking LIE!
Isaiah Jones
youtube.com/watch?v=zR-1bEJv6N8 It's an Action RPG with fighting game elements as the battles. (17:25) It features a large emphasis on humour and follows Taro Yamada (or "Rent A Hero"), a hero for hire that needs to complete various tasks to save the day. Yu Suzuki, the guy behind the Shenmue series is behind it.
There is an English translation done thankfully, so it's easy for you to understand. It also got a remake/sequel for the Dreamcast and Xbox.
>Pretty sure Hard Corps is already announced for that Contra Anniversary Collection. I think. Not confirmed yet, but like bloodlines in the cv collection, it's pretty much all but confirmed at this point.
Eli Thompson
Good. Glad to see it finally get some recognition.
Elijah Mitchell
This shit better have Beyond Oasis.
Jonathan Butler
Got the ps4 genesis collection for christmas (came with cool poster too) but never dabbled in genesis except for sonic and some oddballs (vectorman and ristar) What are the essential must-plays of the genesis? Quick side note: I suck at rpgs and can't really tolerate them for very long.
Because not everyone is ok with emulating and would rather support the companies directly and letting them know "Hey this is good, do more like this" instead of stealing it right infront of their faces
Why the hell would I buy this when the far superior Analouge Mega SG is just around the corner?
Nicholas Rivera
make sure it's the japanese 60Hz version and not the 50Hz PAL version.
Josiah Foster
S&K is also screwed by the music snafu, but yeah.
Oliver Foster
The ultimate redpill is playing saturn shmups like me! :)
Joshua Allen
I mean if you have an Everdrive, then sure, that shortcuts the whole thing with a more efficient product. but if you want nostalgia and collection shit for a product that's inevitably going to be hacked, that has its audience.
Cooper Brooks
S&K's music were all done in-house by SEGA, which is why for a time it was released solo without S3.
Jack James
All these people that say they only used 6 button controllers are fags
A lot of great games (Doom, Desert/Jungle Strike, Caliber .50, etc) used X,Y,Z for extra features
I'll probably buy this just to support Sega making consoles again.
Camden James
kekbear OP
Jordan Wood
Avoiding RPGs, here's a good list of those on there that would give you a good feel for the system for what it was. Not necessarily the best on the system.
Altered Beast Bonanza Bros Comix Zone Dynamite Headdy Golden Axe Ristar Shadow Dancer Sonic 1 & 2 Streets of Rage 2 ToeJam & Earl 1 & 2 Vectorman Virtua Fighter 2 Wonder Boy III & WB in Monster World
If you wanna give some RPGs a shot. Phantasy Star IV & Shining Force are pretty peak for the system at their time
Gabriel Turner
Where's mortal kombat
Ryder Edwards
It won't have Sonic 3
Jonathan Barnes
If you liked Ristar try Rocket Knight Adventures, Dynamite Headdy and High Seas Havoc.
Jaxon Brown
Why doesn't Japan get ToeJam & Earl? It was released over there.
Kayden Cooper
Only Flying Battery got moved, and only because they wanted to give both games a more balanced number of stages. Its music was SEGA-made, so it's not affected by the legal issues at all.
The music for Angel Island and Hydrocity were also fully SEGA-made, which is why the PC version didn't replace those tracks and why Sonic Mania chose those zones specifically.
Gabriel Turner
i know you're not an rpg fan neither am i but i suggest giving phantasy star iv a chance. you don't need to play the other games. it's got really good pacing for a jrpg.
Logan Bailey
It’s always Sonic 1. 2 was the most popular one, why not 2?
Noah Barnes
I don't know. As far as i know it was fairly popular, and the cartridge isn't expensive at all, around $20 or so.
Adam Torres
licensing the games costs a lot this isn't some pirated shit they will get sued if they include anything they don't have the rights for
Easton Rogers
Makes sense.
Jackson Morgan
have they announced anything new on todays stream or is it pointless to watch? not really digging commercials for lupin
Hudson Sanchez
Either A) 2 is one of the other 30 games, or B) saving it for a second compilation.
James Price
No fucking way. It’s just there for cosmetic sake, like the NES having the outline of a door and the SNES having the shape of a slot.
Christian Morris
>the same games in LITERALLY EVERY FUCKING GENESIS COLLECTION AAAAAAAAAAAA GIVE ME SOME FUCKING NEW GAMES.
Lucas Gomez
>some of them This lineup is already better than the entire shitshow that was the Snoy classic. Gunstar and bloodlines give me hope
Leo Sanders
Don't these units such as SNES Mini do a bad job of emulating? Isn't the Analogue systems better
Jordan Evans
Half the people who bitch about input lag are just parroting. It’s usually not noticeable, especially on SNES classic.
Connor James
SNES Mini was fine.
This could have been bad, but Sega purposefully delayed it a year to add more polish, so hopefully it won't.
Jace Martinez
-Castlevania Bloodlines
Ayden Thompson
Nah, Nintendo did a good job. Sony on the other hand...
Liam Miller
Some games people put into the Mini apparently couldn't play as well as original or Analogue system I hear. Though Analogue is more an enthusiast system and nearly costs 200 bucks
And there's your problem. These consoles, when effort's put into them, are designed to work with the games designated on them. I hack my shit, but that doesn't mean I should expect 100% compatibility and perfect running with everything I throw on there.
Well then this is only the second time its ever been on anything since its original release, so it still a big thing.
Adam Wood
They partly did, because the Japanese version of this thing gets the 6 buttons. Why is only the US getting the 3 button controller? Fuck you.
Charles Gonzalez
i have a genesis + flashcart. probably 1000 roms are on it. Way better than SNES. SNES had them rpgs and platformers. Genesis has manly games.
Ayden Perry
everyone complaining about the games list should realize all these shitty mini consoles are intentionally made easy as fuck to hack and add all the roms you want.
Josiah Parker
Yo, if you don't want Bloodlines, I have a crisp 2 dollar bill to double your investment with.
Cooper Long
Why should I care about this garbage? I have a "High Definition Graphics" Genesis (with an S-VIDEO mod), a Chinese Everdrive (with every game released) and a 1993 Sony Trinitron...
Brandon Ross
>genesis has a bunch of copy paste games where you scroll right and punch guys which have fart sound effects and then they die
Kevin Ortiz
That Madou monogatari was the last game released for Megadrive in japan. Is a simple dungeon crwaler.
Jose Allen
fuck you. Snes is why there are so many trannies now.
Owen Morales
Kill yourself tripfag
Mason Perry
Because Sega is selling new genesis/saturn pads made by retrobit and obviously they want to make money off that shit while selling the genesis minis.
Juan Foster
*fart noise*
Joseph Perez
Ok. Geez. Calm your tits, there's still 29 games to be announced
So, with the current line-up, whaddya think about. Will it be fine, or will it be another failure like the PS1 mini?
Brandon Jenkins
Slow down my friend
Jaxon Martin
I think it's 1 game per franchise (mean bean being an exception since the west never got the puyo puyo game japan is using) Plus, sonic 2 is on it in japan instead of sonic 1.
Leo Reed
phantasy star 2-4 or bust
Sebastian Scott
It's Sonic. He'll be exempt from the rule the same way Mario was exempt. Expect Sonic 1, 2, and Spinball as the base standard for all regions.
Jackson Lee
>makes your game purple with shitty keyboard music and fart sounds
The first selection of games are ones everyone can recognize, so that's a solid step, but the whole "Sonic 1 in US, Sonic 2 in Japan" thing is fucking retarded, as is only having 3 button controllers for US while Japan gets the 6 button. That shit makes a huge difference in games like Comix Zone. In terms of design quality though we can be assured that it'll probably emulate well because M2 are handling it.
Angel Thomas
SIlver Star story, better to play it on sega or playstation?
Brody Bell
You can always go for 8bitdo's version, not an authentic shape but it's very good while being similarly priced.
Playstation is the version most people grew up with, and it's got a generally more well-rounded version of the overall experience. The Sega CD version isn't bad, just that it's obvious there's a reason why they remade the game for PS1 so quickly. They also radically overhauled the main antagonist from just being a douchebag that kills people and threatens the world for the hell of it, to a more sympathetic antagonist that has genuine reasons for what he does. If you ever ask any fans about this antagonist, they'll almost always respond about the Playstation characterization, that's how ingrained it became to him to the point that the sequel emphasized it.
Cooper Gutierrez
Yeah, they swapped out a few. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Puyo Puyo 2 Shining Force Castlevania: Bloodlines Powerball Gunstar Heroes Comix Zone Rent-a-Hero Space Harrier II Madou Monogatari
Logan Young
So a 50/50 it is. That controller problem might backfire badly, but what you say about Sonic 2 isn't really that bad considering the SNES mini had a similar issue with Street Fighter 2 (West gets the Turbo version while Japan gets the better Super version), and there's a chance for them to compensate that by just including Sonic&Knuckles in.
Mason Collins
It would take very little to have an effective emulator for this thing. Genesis emulation has been nearly perfect for fucking years on toasters. Them fucking this up would be like rolling over the SEGA corpse and fucking it without the reach-around. Especially with how low production costs have gotten with this sort of media.
Kayden Carter
Triggered much, tards? All you had to do was not speak like a bitch, shit like “redpill” and “zoomer here” automatically makes you a fag.
Thomas Gray
Why fucking genesis. Why not Saturn
Jace Williams
>wanting a live service model where updates brick modded consoles when the USB port allows an infinite supply of free games
I thought like you once. Then I modded my NES classic and realized what an idiot I was.
Saturn emulation is very mixed even at the the most advanced level. Ironically (to those who don't know how emulation works) it's much, much easier to emulate the dreamcast than it is the saturn.
Ayden Hill
This. I remember playing Genesis games on a fucking Windows 98.
Because Saturn was not a big hit in both the US and EU.
Show me proof that SEGA has a working Saturn emulator somewhere in recent history.
Connor Ward
Why the fuck are you acting smug if you are still a fucking retard and could emulate the NES on 50 different devices for fucking free?
Alexander Gutierrez
the JP Mega Drive mini just seems superior in every possible way. >Sonic 2 instead of Sonic 1 >Puyo Puyo 2 instead of Mean Bean Machine >6-button controller instead of 3-button controller
>atari >NES >SNES >PSX >GC >Wii >PC that was my path.
Levi Martinez
Why the fuck do retards always think public emulation created by fans is equivalent to emulation that the companies who created the original hardware and likely still have the documentation that shows how it works?
Thomas Hughes
fuck I wanted to play Madou Monogatari and Sonic 2 is my favorite because of Casino Night Zone
Alexander Hernandez
Probably because documentation doesn't last forever, and SEGA are so super incompetent that they probably don't even have Dreamcast documentation lying around, much less Saturn? Why do you think they basically don't port Saturn or Dreamcast games at all, just ports to other consoles of a limited few games back in the day besides Jet Set Radio (which crashes all the fucking time)?
Jason Hernandez
Theres no way they won't add Sonic 2 to the US version. Probably Spinball and 3D Blast too.
Jackson Long
>wanting the shitty Puyo 1 in any form >when Puyo 2 made it irrelevant
Luis Johnson
no rolling thunder no buy
Leo Sullivan
Well, go fucking play it right now. What's stopping you?
Jaxson Cruz
They do rarely port Saturn games here and there. Largely 3rd party
Zachary Russell
$100 says they still won't include Sonic 3 & Knuckles like every other collection
Tyler Foster
You'd be surprised by how inept those companies can be in emulating their own hardware. It's you who does not understand. Saturn emulation is actually pretty complicated and these "fans" you're talking about are often very well-qualified hardware engineers that have been working on the media for years, sometimes decades. They know what they're working with but, engineering it to work with modern software is not like just plugging it into ubuntu and going "WORK YOU DUMB FUCKER."
Ayden Roberts
I wish Konami would stop pretending anyone wants another Simon's Quest rerelease. I groaned so hard when I saw it was on the NES classic. Just give me fucking Symphony on a Nintendo console for the first time ever and I'll be happy.
Justin Martinez
They can't. So deal.
Asher Peterson
I thought it hadn't been translated yet? And I already own the actual carts for Sonic 1+2 so it would just be a convenient bonus.
Brayden Rogers
What the hell is preventing them?
Eli Walker
Technically they can release Knuckles.
But Sonic 3 was partly composed by Michael Jackson. So if they wanna re-release it they need permission from his estate. They don't wanna bother.
Hunter Hall
Outside of Bloodlines, there's literally no reason to buy this damn thing as of yet because literally all of those games exist in compilations made in the last 10 years, or in some case last year on current gen consoles.
Noah Morales
> Genesis It's Mega Drive you fucking retards, Genesis is the shitty name only used in the US.
Also fuck you Boco, stupid tripfag, kill yourself.
Nathaniel Torres
I've played the shit out of the remakes (all of them), but never the originals. is there no trace of sympathy for him in TSS? It his plot in EB must have actually been surprising back in the day, huh?
Austin Gray
They could if they just swapped out the Buxer tracks. Or stopped being cheapskates and ponied up the fucking money.
Angel Martinez
3 is on the PC Genesis collection that the console versions are a port of.
We're talking about the US version, dipshit.
Camden Barnes
For years people have assumed that in Michael Jackson's passing, the family have become much, much more ass-tight about anything involving his likeness or involvement. MJ and his Sound Team were personally involved in the development of Sonic 3's soundtrack, but he didn't like how the Genesis soundchip worked for audio so he backed out of the deal besides Brad Buxer staying behind to continue work. As a result, several of the songs he worked on were replaced in the PC collection version of the games.
Nowadays everyone assumes that the Jackson Estate have basically tied Sonic 3 & Knuckles up in legal hell as a result and SEGA simply doesn't want to play ball at all anymore.
>So if they wanna re-release it they need permission from his estate. Sony owns Michael Jackson's catalog. His family has nothing to do with it.
Evan Jones
saturn emulation on arm runs at single digit fps
Blake Long
The PS4/Xbone/Switch collection is trash, even the PS3 collection is better. And they both suck in comparison to the work of the emulation wizards at M2.
Michael Thompson
So whats the official reason they give for not adding 3 these days?
Caleb Flores
needs wily wars
Ryan Jones
they don't want to have to deal with the autists who want sonic 3, sonic and knuckles and sonic 3 and knuckles, with the first and the last sharing save files
Jacob Wright
I don't think the problem is MJ but that Brad Buxer guy.
Dylan Watson
>2 good games yikes
Julian Johnson
They don't give an official reason. At all. That's why people speculate. We do know they offered an ultimatum to Taxman & Stealth: do Sonic 3&K and release all of their mobile Sonic ports to consoles in a package, or get to make a new game themselves, which became Sonic Mania.
Jacob Perez
They figured out how to make Lock-On work in emulation since the Saturn with Sonic Jam, so that's obviously not it.
Joshua Lee
a company full of fucking morons with some of the best IPs to grace this earth. they were originally the masters of the arcade, but expanded into the home console market to moderate success from the mid 80s to the early 2000s.
Mania is neat and all that, but can they go back and do the first one?
Christopher Powell
why is no one complaining that they're using the gay version
Ayden Reyes
Whatever the reason, the music seems to be part of it. Notice how Mania only used the Sonic 3 zones that had music which SEGA themselves made (Angel Island, Hydrocity, and indirectly Flying Battery).
Hunter Rogers
>Sonic and Fanta What a truly unfortunate combination.
Blake Collins
>tfw M2 will never make a Saturn emulator and release Sega Ages versions of Saturn games
Some of it is possible. Yet only with high end PCs that can chug shit to the point that their fans run as though they're running an extremely resource-demanding modern game. IN the case of some of the 2D stuff that is ESPECIALLY what's so great about the Saturn? That can stretch a little bit.
Still, running the Saturn at an acceptable frame rate on something that isn't built and specialized for it, and sort of expensive isn't necessarily possible.
With all the multi-core crap, you're especially going to run into problems. Dunno about the saturn, but good emulation machines often run on 1 or 2 cores with high ghz to do well. It's ironic that higan for example runs better on a 2006 sony desktop than it does on a 2017 gaming laptop for me. Because it utilizes a single core and does not care about the other cores on the laptop. It doesn't know they're there and couldn't utilize them even if it did.
Joseph Jenkins
We'll just have to see. Taxman and friends made Evening Star, named after a Chaotix song, solely for making further games and maybe they'll get that opportunity, but until SEGA stops being so tight-lipped on everything that isn't Team Sonic Racing, we've got no idea what will come besides Sonic Team saying they're working on the next mainline installment.
Jayden Richardson
Hm. Jackson still sounds like a possible reason. Especially with all the hubub over him lately.
Hunter Kelly
>besides Sonic Team saying they're working on the next mainline installment. I like how nobody gives a shit about this.
Carter Barnes
Because we already let out so much vitriol over Sonic Forces being shit and Mania upstaging it in every way. It's been two years already, and people are still sour. All we got was a game announcement, so without further details there's nothing to even speculate on besides the modern Sonic Team standard of "will it be decent or shit?"
William Williams
Because it's been almost eight full fucking years since they've made a decent game
Blake Turner
disgusting taste please kys
Henry Cooper
Emulation accuracy is going to be irrelevant to all but the most autistic of fanboys unless it's glaringly obvious. Input lag in the compilation you're referring to has long since been patched up across the board, and the only real issue with said compilation is its inaccurate handling of audio clips due to not being able to replicate the audio the Yamaha chip produces.
While I can agree with you that the PS3/360 compilation was better, that still doesn't change the part where the compilation is still near worthless even with M2 behind the wheel because KEGA Fusion exists as do other compilations, including M2's SEGA Ages titles.
Nolan Powell
>ecco the mother fucker dolphin, based sega.
Ryan Diaz
doesnt this already exist? I swear Ive walked past like 3 on a rack at walmart
Hudson Edwards
those are ass and made by AtGames. never buy anything made by AtGames.
Hudson Russell
sonic jam is a port from the ground up, not emulation regardless S&K's lock on can be emulated with an ips patch
Ryan Wilson
Those are the really shitty ones they licensed out to Atgames or whatever. This one is meant to be as good as the ones that Nintendo has put out. Meaning full HDMI, menus and the like. Atgames was doing the cheapo ones that used component cables. Most modern TVs don't even have that shit now.
Xavier Lee
I thought there was already a sega mini console?
Dominic Lee
The newest AtGames one does actually have HDMI out IIRC, but the emulation is still so bad even normies can tell something is wrong.
Genesis emulation is actually much easier on lower-end hardware so, I'm going to be disappointed if they fuck this up.
Cooper Turner
I think there may be more then one, but that was before Nintendo made them popular.
Sebastian Wright
>Shitty versions of MM1, 2, and 3 that look and sound even worse than the 8-bit NES No.
Michael Morgan
>Pulseman
Nice.
Anthony Cox
It's worth it for the novelty, at least.
Oliver Ross
Not even for that. It deserves to stay dead and buried like the garbage it is.
Parker Reyes
>i played the pal version
Charles Davis
>Crusader of Centy I'm still surprised that and Ranger X haven't gotten any sort of ports. Warsong Langrisser would be nice too but we'll just have to wait and see I guess.
Jace Cruz
I wonder if they'll try and get Aladdin on this thing. It's one of the most popular games on the system and with the Aladdin live action movie coming up Disney might actually be willing to play ball.
Caleb Butler
I think it's highly possible that they'll include them as a selling point. They're not particularly easy to obtain vs. just having it shipped to your door or whatever. I'll predict right now, that this is going to do better than the PS1 mini in spite of the bad favor Atgames made for them. The genesis/mega drive still has a pretty strong following in some parts of the world.
It's the definitive version over the SNES. I love classic Capcom but Virgin knocked that game out of the park. The visuals are top-notch and it matches the SNES version in every other area.
>gameplay no >level design Maybe, MAYBE more fluid movement throughout the levels but the mapping was about equal. Virgin had some really good people working on the visuals and audio for it to try to make it as close to the feature as possible. In spite of how good Capcom is in general, the succeeded over them.
Oliver Carter
If you didn't have a 6 button controller yes
Nathan Bailey
Vectorman is crap and I hate it.
Logan Taylor
vectorman and earthworm jim are mediocre. strider is one of the most overrated sidescrollers of all time.
Jaxon Wilson
test
Sebastian Torres
That chart is for the Japanese version.
Besides, Earthworm Jim is in legal limbo right now, and Capcom hasn't signed on yet, so no Strider.
Asher Hill
>Mean Bean Machine >Space Harrier II Fucking based I could see buying this.
Grayson Peterson
Vectorman is Sega's Donkey Kong Country. A perfectly serviceable game that's hugely elevated by its awesome graphics and art design.
Mason Jones
I'm the guy that argued for the Genesis version of Aladdin and dude, the Genesis version of SF2 is fucking ass. I'll argue for Mortal Kombat 2 on Genesis as well but SF2? Fucking nooooooo nope. God-awful, three or six buttons.
Asher Hughes
Forgot about Shinobi for some reason, fuck Vectorman, Sega CD version of Earthworm Jim is better, arcade version of Strider is better.
Bentley Nguyen
>not having a megafire controller youre a loser
Andrew Baker
>Just rehashing and releasing Sonic and Yakuza shit This is how I know you know nothing about what Sega makes. It is always the Alex Jones posting faggots that always talk out of their ass.
Matthew Taylor
passes
Carson Campbell
If Konami is already on board then there's no way Capcom isn't far behind.
Jack Rogers
Just get a proper desktop setup instead. Install windows so you can run proper emulators.
Jayden Baker
Bet that means a version of SF2, then.
And hopefully Ghouls n Ghosts.
Lucas Edwards
Sega fans all grew up to be Sony fans, prove me wrong.
Logan James
>holy shit 13 replies >I'm not even a zoomer I was just joking Feels pretty good
Ryder Price
>Bet that means a version of SF2, then. Do you really want to play a SF2 where you have to press the start button to swap between kicks and punches because of the 3 button controller?
Gavin Clark
Anons I have a genesis and have the following >Revenge of Shinobi >Streets of Rage >Columns >Sonic 1 >Golden Axe 1 >Super hangon What else should I get?
Gavin Foster
Sega games tend to do best on Nintendo platforms.
Easton Morris
Not at all. But Capcom would push for it anyway.
Aiden Miller
I own a genesis box that has 40 games and can play cartridges, it's missing a yamahaFm music chip to it sounds like ass tho. pic related.
I have a Wii, a Switch and a Super Famicom so you tell me.
Jayden Phillips
These:
Aiden James
i hate sony and microsoft with every inch of my being if it makes you feel any better
Cooper Moore
I played SF2 Champion Edition with a 6 button controller and loved it. What exactly was wrong with it?
Joseph Hill
Nothing, with a six button controller. With a three? Irredeemable.
Nicholas Peterson
Well yeah. I know that. That is why I had the 6 button controller. This is why we need it but those Japs won't give it to us. Fuck supporting this shit.
If it doesn't have Sonic 3 then it can fuck right off
Jayden Anderson
Will this thing accept cartridges? I know some of sega's other re-released genesis' came with a slot for them
Ian Morales
32x was the platform that brought Virtua Fighter out of the arcades and into the living room. SegaCD was just ... what, Ecco the Dolphin?
Camden Young
Sonic CD, mostly. And the best version of Earthworm Jim. Maybe Eternal Champions.
Connor Price
flashcart
Luis Gonzalez
Snatcher and Lunar.
Dominic Allen
Final Fight CD
and a bunch of Japanese only exclusives of fucking course.
James Sullivan
worthwhile 32X games: >virtua racing >knuckles chaotix wow truly a loss Of course knowing sega they will put the crap genesis version of virtua racing on this thing instead of the 32X one
Joshua Gonzalez
Kolibri. Star Wars Arcade. DOOM, in a "so bad its good" way.
Hudson Watson
not all of them, the Neogeo classic mini is not hackable.
Isaac Ramirez
That's a garbage line up, I wont buy one of these without Chakan and Eternal Champions.
Angel Hall
>And the best version of Earthworm Jim. Until the PC version that is. PC had both Intestinal Distress AND an exclusive level, Big Bruty. But definitely better than the SNES Jim at least.
Blake Jenkins
>Eternal Champions They'd have to bump it to M.
Blake Ward
Big Bruty was in the Sega CD version first, so no.
Sega CD is superior Jim.
Brandon Martinez
no, its a mini console like the others so everything is scaled down including the cartridge slot
There are no zoomers buying this, where are the EA classics Mutant League, Road Rash, General Chaos, Skitchin, and the Strikes
Where the fuck is Vectorman? Comix Zone, the Shinobis, Pulseman and Phantasy Star.
Kayden Brown
How many times has Sega bundled these same games? It’s on every console right?
Boy I can’t wait to play Gain Ground or Thunderblade or whatever that shit helicopter game was AGAIN
Owen Ross
how about you wait until they reveal the remaining 30 games, you memeing fuck?
Parker Cox
I remember borrowing the floppy disks for DOOM from my friend in the 7th grade. My computer's hard drive wasn't big enough to install it. Good times. It was like a grand total of 9mb uncompressed or something. I'd have to look it up.
Christopher Flores
Not me because I'm still bitter about PS2 killing the Dreamcast even though deep down I know it was Sega's incompetence.
Hudson Hernandez
You do realize they're never going to re-release Urban Strike because of the unfortunate coincidence involving how the main villain blows up the World Trade Center in 2001.
Thomas Lopez
I had a Dreamcast. I remember playing this RPG where the monsters were visible instead of random battles. After playing so many JRPGs with random encounters, I thought it was the coolest fucking thing ever. I have no idea what that game was called and can't remember playing anything else.
Christopher Johnson
>Not a Model 1 Genesis and CD Get out
Dylan Ramirez
The villian was a white male. They'll put it on the cover of the game with pride.
Hunter Turner
Regardless, they didn't re-release it when they put the other two Strike games on PSP.
Thomas Cooper
the at@ames one did? did it play them properly or just use the same emulator as for the internal games (aka shittier anything ive used since 1999)
Parker Morgan
In a world where Rising has Clinton killing herself Multiple JRP's and like Fallout where EVERYTHING is fucked but oh no the WTC is going too far?
Grayson Long
Grandia II? Sounds like it to me
Gabriel Phillips
Sound and graphics were horrible on it, but it played and worked
going straight for the boogieman to cope with no sword wew
Justin Fisher
I came here to say that they already made a better version of this years ago. But castlevania bloodlines gives me pause. If they add Moonwalker I will have a hard time not buying it
theyre both shit, unlike the Jurassic Park games which were so different but both pretty good
Nicholas Gray
Not him but who else still posts sad frog outside 12 year olds?
Gabriel Brooks
the vast majority of Yea Forums faggot who else still whines about it other than twitter sjws?
Christopher Rodriguez
Yea Forums is still full of pepefags and wojackfags, sadly. That's just the kind of people who started browsing this site in 2016, back when there were so many newfags they developed their own sub-culture. Now they think Pepe and wojack is the basis for ALL memes and don't know how to live without them.
Jaxson Peterson
The irony is hilarious. I was here over a decade ago when he became a meme. Look at you faggots getting so upset and trying to derail a thread over something that wasn't even the point of the post.
Xavier Miller
It's liking posting doge. Of course you're going to get people calling you a retard.
Benjamin Hill
And you fags always post the same responses every time you're upset about it with false equivalency like this but you know what it's really about And that forced association is something a newfag would do. Now get the fuck back on topic.
Literally everyone on Yea Forums does "forced association." How do you think everything became "reddit?" Or were you self-aware forcing association with "forced association = newfag?" Maybe I'm giving you too much credit.
>tfw don't know if the game I want will get in >tfw even if it did it would be the shitty US version >tfw my country is going to import the US Genesis Mini and there's nothing I can do about it
>altered beast a game nobody actually cared for besides Sega and their paid magazine reviewers >C:BL cool >Comix Zone cool >Puyo Puyo 1 should have been puyo puyo 2 >Ecco 1 aged bad >Gunstar Heroes cool >SF cool, even though GBA remake is superior >Sonic 1 they need to stop memeing this goddamn game in every collection they publish >Space Harrier 2 1's better >Toejam and Earl 2's better
4/10 Sega does nintendon't again (not a compliment btw)
Nolan Murphy
Except people remember DKC
Ian Powell
>GBA remake is superior REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Nolan Watson
>Sonic 1 >they need to stop memeing this goddamn game in every collection they publish It makes sense to include it every time. Just so long as they include 2 and 3&K with it. And CD when possible. It makes more sense than, say, Alex Kidd. Nobody fucking cares about those.
Asher Anderson
>cool, even though GBA remake is superior The ONLY things that piece of shit remake has going for it are the 2 new characters and the cards. Everything else is objectively worse in every aspect.
No, that's a different one with shitty wireless controllers and terrible sound quality. (But at least it can play actual Genesis cartridges.)
Matthew Martinez
It’s like Nintendo, but better. They have one foot in the nostalgia camp, but it’s also a constantly evolving company bringing us some of the best games even today.
I hope the add the rest of the Sonics. If the enable the lock on shit that would be a pretty good selling point since the always leave it out of collections.
No. This is being made by M2, people who actually CARE about quality emulation.
Ryder Cox
>lock on shit What?
Aaron Stewart
lol I played that as a kid. My mom found it in the garbage and it had a lot of games as well. Not bad for a free console. I still preferred my SNES though
Xavier Gomez
I asshume he's talking about s&k
Joseph Rivera
but then again these usually don't let you use actual cartridges(a big mistake I think) so I don't know
Nathan Davis
>better >atgames Nigga you stupid as hell.
Cooper Johnson
If this isn't one of the included games than SEGA can suck my left nut.
