It gets the most flak out of all the Soulsborne games. Why is that?
>lots of great and memorable bosses like Abyss Watchers, Pontiff, Champion Gundyr, Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, Lothric Brothers, Sister Friede, Darkeater Midir, and Slave Knight Gael
>only a couple trash bosses, none of them as bad as Dragon God or Bed of Chaos or Witch of Hemwick
>has some of the best music of the series
>weapon arts add a variety and uniqueness to the movesets
>very little jank with good hit boxes
>runs at a smooth 60FPS out of the box
>is actually finished, unlike DS1
>doesn't have nonsensical level design and enemy spam like DS2
>never have to look like an ugly rotting zombie
I agree rollspam is too easy and the story isn't as inspired as DS1 or BB, but I'd say it's on par with DeS and DS1 and almost as good as BB.
Why does Yea Forums hate Dark Souls 3?
vocal minority. don't take it so seriously.
Honestly on my first playthrough it just kinda didn't click for me, I haven't even finished it despite loving all the other games in the franchise, including Demon's and BB
Now I'm giving it another shot and I like it much more than the first time. I can appreciate the things it done right. However, all in all I still feel like it lacks this "something" and the linearity sucks
Dragon God wasn't that bad
I hate the linear world structure, but besides that Dark Souls 3 was pretty much solid.
>It gets the most flak
You're thinking of Dark Souls 2.
Dark Souls 2 gets the most flak (and rightfully so).
Dark Souls 3 got a lot of flak up until recently, because it's their newest game.
I liked it but it didn't have as much replayability as any of the other games. I was hoping they were going to improve on some of DaS2's NG+ mechanics but all we got were some improved rings.
It was definitely the most fun game to SL1. Perfect balance of challenge and not wanting to kill myself. DS1 was too easy.
The entire series is great. It's the unrelenting autistic fanbase that's overblowing how bad DaS3 is. It's no where near a bad game. It's like an 8/10 at least.
Yeah and also it has that glitch right at the beginning with the invincible summon npc. That shit was cash
Because it is a game that nobody asked for.
It definitely had some major disappointments though, especially in the realm of PVP and NG+
Do we really have to have the same 3 fucking souls borne threads every hour? go back to plebbit.
Sorry, we should be making non-vidya threads for posting wojaks and porn instead, my bad.
>No poise
>Bosses have no health
>Short as fuck
>Enemies all feel the same
>Shields are overpowered
>Too many gimmick bosses like Wolnir
>Level variety is abysmal: swamps and grey castle
>Very easy if you know how these games work
>Recycled characters and areas like Gwyndo-I mean Aldrich
>Both DLCs are also too short and easy
>Clearly unfinished content like Profaned Capital and Smoldering Lake
It'd be my favorite if it had an interconnected world like DS1. Whats the point of having branching pathways in the levels if they all lead from A to B?
Also all the areas in DS3 look the same, lets be honest.
Same here, I didn't feel the urge to finish the game, while I simply couldn't drop the gamepad in previous entries of the series. The magic doesn't work for me, maybe because of the lack of freedom (not much different builds and weapons, too linear) and the lack of originality. Maybe I simply became tired of the same old formula. I haven't played Sekiro yet, might give it a shot one day.
the only game Yea Forums legit plays is fromsoft games
everyone else just hover between their /vg/ gen and occasionally dropping into a shitpost 'board culture' thread
>healing while walking
This, and also Homeward Bones being as quick and easy to use as they are defeats most of the game's purpose
Because Yea Forums for the most part consists out of autistic, angsty and lonely 15 year old zoomers
This board is a joke and it only gets worse
It's a good game. The hate mostly comes from buttblasted DS2 shitters.
>If you hate my game you're X!
Thanks for upholding Yea Forums's quality
>lots of great and memorable bosses like Abyss Watchers, Pontiff, Champion Gundyr, Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, Lothric Brothers, Sister Friede, Darkeater Midir, and Slave Knight Gael
Yes.
>only a couple trash bosses, none of them as bad as Dragon God or Bed of Chaos or Witch of Hemwick
More than a couple. You have:
Deacons
The tree
Aldrich
Yhorm
nopants wolfguy
Ancient Wyvern
Maybe the Spear Of The Church.
Oceiros
>has some of the best music of the series
Some tracks are hit or miss, but yes, most are good
>weapon arts add a variety and uniqueness to the movesets
Barely. Most Weapon Arts are kinda bad
>very little jank with good hit boxes
No. If anything, Sekiro does it better. Even Bloodborne does it better.
>runs at a smooth 60FPS out of the box
Sure.
>is actually finished, unlike DS1
There's an astronomical amount of cut content for DS3.. And when you're aware of that fact and when you see what was cut, DS3 feels like a shell of a game. There's a LOT of missing movesets, areas, bonfire mechanics, music, dialogue, bosses.. etc. I know this is standard for every soulsborne game, but DS3 suffers from it the most because we're left with a game that merely rides on DS1 nostalgia w/ the reused areas.
>doesn't have nonsensical level design and enemy spam like DS2
Eh.. I mean, I guess? At least DS2 had fun areas to traverse through. DS3 feels like a linear slog most of the time. Especially since NG+ is shit in DS3.
>never have to look like an ugly rotting zombie
Meh
The game is meh because of so many odd design choices. Likely made because of aforementioned cut content. And I didn't even get into all of the other trashy shit that exists in this game, like malnourished covenants, lack of interesting build variety, PvP, infusions (how did they fuck this up, DS2 did it perfectly i comparison), Phantom Spam.. etc.
>Bosses have no health
>Too many gimmick bosses like Wolnir
ie. if it's not like sekiro with damage sponge r1 bosses then it's "bad"
Dark Souls 2 is still the shittiest.
Dark Souls 3 is my favorite. I like weapon arts and the focus bar.
JUST FUCKING CALL IT SOULS, WE ALL KNOW THAT INCLUDES BLOODBORNE
THANK YOU
>beat dks3 15 times with way of blue and dried finger active all the time
was fun af
dark souls 1 is more soulful, but playing online during the most alive period of its release is ludo
Nah man, it's Soulsborneseki now
Honestly sounds less gross and more just plain silly. I'd take it
Whats the deal with having to go back to firelink to level up? One thing that was cool about DaS1 is you often never felt like you were inclined to have to stop your progress so you don't lose a shit ton of souls, you could just spend your souls on a nearby bonfire than keep trucking forward.
With 3 and 2 everytime you get a large amount of souls, you have to sit, warp, spend souls, warp back and continue. Whats the point?
padding
and forcing artificial attachment to designated hub area
>>lots of great and memorable bosses like Abyss Watchers
Stopped reading there, Abyss Watchers are garbage, the only good thing about them is the music
It just doesn't feel like a labor of love. DS3 feels like reheated leftovers from BB.
yhorm and aldrich are nowhere near the level of bed of chaos
No fast travel for most of 1... it'd take forever going back to firelink
the world in ds1 is so well done that it never takes the piss to get back to firelink
I played all 3 in a row right after ds3 was released. By the time I'd gotten to 3 I was totally burned out. Started nioh after that but gave up almost immediately, I was just over it
Yeah but if you had to go back every time you wanted to level up it'd get pretty old
Almost nothing you said applies to Dark Souls 3, yet almost all of those points apply to another game in the series.
Because everybody has already said a million times over the years, it's literally Bloodborne 2 except they forgot to make you as fast as enemies, so the result is roll spam r1 faggotry, sure it's possible to play other ways but god fucking damn doing anything else is like pulling teeth because poise is now a borderline useless form of hyperarmor so good luck literally ever using a heavy attack before getting stunlocked to death by an 8 hit combo. and even without poise (I never play with heavy armor anyway), it's just stunlock souls, it's garbage and basically all of their games are going to be cucked by this design from now on if sekiro is any indication
>durr git gud
it's possible to git gud at anything, you can become an expert at driving a car with your ass cheeks. but not all things are worth gitting gud at. and dark souls 3 is unfun because of the things I have listed above, therefore it is not worth gitting gud at
which is why it allows you to level up at any bonfire
I don't know what it was
I felt like I was being forced to progress a certain way and I didn't bother finishing the game because it got tiring
>Homeward Bones
Adding an easily obtainable infinite-use coiled sword fragment that serves the same purpose doesn't help either.
after playing sekiro, I realize how silly a lot of the bossfights look in DaS with your character somersaulting everywhere.
I wanted Dark Souls 3 not Blood Souls 0.5
I liked the moonlit night city. I thought that was very pretty.
I do hate how soulsborne games became the cowwadooty crowd for vidya enthusiasts though. Fuck you guys.
I'd rather deal with one super shitty boss than multiple bad ones.
I've played souls since DeS came out in europe and DS3 is my favourite by far.
I really don't understand the complaints about how they 'recycle' content when there's not really a lot of that going on and the stuff they do reuse is changed significantly (unlike DS2 Ornstein and Gargoyles).
Poise was a garbage system and always will be. Wearing heavy armor allowed you to poise tank bosses while chugging estus and DPS them to death. Shields aren't nearly as good as they were in DaS1.
>implying that bed of chaos is the only super shitty ds1 boss
>implying yhorm and aldrich are in any way bad
not in the upper echelon of ds3 bosses by any means but comparing them to shit like wolnir and deacons is a complete disservice
I think if I made a new FROM game, your roll would get progressively worse the more you press it.
>first roll is a leaping roll with good i-frames
>next roll is a combat roll with okay i-frames
>third roll is a weak somersault with poor i-frames
Just so you can't bing-bing-wahoo everywhere and have time dodges well
>yhorm
>literal meme boss that is either a piss easy gimmick win or an absolutely horrific slog of worthless poke damage for 2 hours
nah, it's shit. gimmick bosses are eternally gay and bad
My only complaint with DS3 is its bland environment style and linear design, everything else is pretty cool. Good bosses, combat, music ect.
Like you, I don't understand they recycled content complaints. Seems that when DS3 has a dragonslayer boss its criticized despite DS2 having an even more blatant Ornstein copy in a world where it makes even less sense.
Wolnir is still my favorite boss design
That's not a bad idea. Or have it like fast roll/medium roll/fat roll where the last one is literally a desperate flop out of the way
I've stopped arguing with these autists. You should do the same, because there's no end for the BB wanking as some people discovered Lovecraft through BB.
Don't try, you'll only lose your time to idiots.
I think a game about knights probably shouldn't even have rolling as your main tool for dodging attacks. It'd be cool if they were to use some kind of sekiro-like defect system with sidesteps.
>Assuming all gimmick fights belong in the same tier
No, even with its disappointment as a lord boss its still leagues above smash 3 bracelets to win and certainly worthy of being in the mid range of ds3 bosses
Did you know that if you kill Wolnir without smashing all of his bracelets, he actually dies instead of falling into the abyss?
