Reminder that freaking Palutena was shown at E3 and Pacman at a private conference.

>Duck Hunt >Little Mac >Wii Fit Trainer >Palutena >Dark Pit >Pacman
Sebastian Flores
That's still really confusing since the Pac-Man trailer was up within the day anyway. Why not just stick it in along with her's?
Lincoln Perez
> Punch Out Wii > Wii Fit U
James Rivera
pretty much this. All the important nintendo characters got in melee and brawl. 4 on onwards is just fluff amd 3rd party hype. Besides lil mac, villager and ridley and K.rool
Gavin Sanchez
oh and duck hunt how could I forget?
Palutena got to share her reveal with a bunch of other e3 games. Pac-man's able to carry his own reveal. If palutena was at a private conference no one would give a shit except for waifufags.
Liam Gutierrez
I think they revealed Palutena in the Direct because E3 that year was sort of the big blowout for the game's customization features, the Direct even began with the unveiling of the Mii Fighters. In that sense, they probably wanted to get that other heavily customization based character out of the way so they could update the site about custom moves.
that makes sense. Completely forgot about custom moves. I actually liked those, I remember playing custom smash alot with friends

>Greninja >not humanoid >Mewtwo >humanoid

Cloud should've been saved for Ultimate. Such a mind-shattering reveal ruined for a shitty game.
Carson Anderson
Too late now, franchise is dead
Samuel Russell
Little Mac and the Wii Fit Trainer had games between Brawl and 4.
Ian King
How most of these got in before K.Rool is disgusting
Justin Wright
Shulk was great as well
Brody Evans
They're chosen due to recency instead of legacy and most of the big important characters were added by Brawl. That means you're a lot less likely to get Nintendo characters you actually want.
Cameron Nguyen
>Tfw in 4 I could make a special set consisting of my favorite powers in Uprising >Seeing Explosive Flame make it into Ultimate
it baffles me that dixie kong wasn't included specially because tropical freeze had just released. sakurai is a biased faggot
Dominic Ross
Because Fuckonami happened
Chase Jenkins
Dixie's last chance was in the K. Rool trailer. Now, I very much doubt that they add it.
Ethan Lewis
Yeah, that definitely made Star Fox a lower priority. Notice how Wolf's animations got completely redone? That's another reason why he got cut. He looked like a complete mess in Brawl. Half his animations were taken from other characters and the new ones created for him were very unpolished. Lucas and Roy were probably picked over him for DLC because they would require less work.
Michael Morris
>Mewtwo >Roy >Newcomers
Luis Bailey
Oh, that does make sense I guess.
Jaxon Brown
What's weird is how far more cooperative Konami were for Ultimate
>Return of Snake, along with Simon and Richter >Return of Shadow Moses, along with Dracula's Castle >Dracula himself as a boss fight >Return of Grey Fox as an AT, along with Alucard and Bomberman >Death's scife as an item >Tons of spirits for both series >assload of new Castlevania remixes
I'm pretty sure Sakurai said they didn't even think of approaching Konami for Smash 4. It had nothing to do with them being hard to work with. Snake got cut because they didn't ask for him back.
Brayden Wilson
>Palutena got the fully fleshed out customs gimmick while all Mega Man got was references to other abilities that were kinda(?) unique I'm super glad with how Mega Man was represented overall but this small tidbit still makes me a bit miffed If the next game isn't a full-on reboot than Dixie's a shoo-in. They've completely run out of meaningful first party characters they could add
I’d be willing to excuse the lack of a fighter (especially since they apparently got close to adding one with 4), but the series lacks ANY form of serious representation. They never gave the series a stage unlike other notable series without fighters, like Tomodachi Life and Nintendogs. The series has never gotten an Assist Trophy despite the large number of them added. Despite the series being well known for its music, there are only three songs in Smash, and they’re generally agreed to be weak choices. The only decent representation it has had is trophies, Spirits, and the Sneaky Spirits in Smash Run.
Carter Moore
Too bad they nerfed his voice
Sebastian Wood
it's the same VA but I guess he was told to act more like in 64
