I'm glad Hollow Knights sequel is making Hornet the main character. She definitely stands out a lot better than the knight and feels more unique.
Baba is honestly the most charming character of the four just because they're basically a childrens doodle. Something about it's simplicity suits the nature of the game perfectly.

Why is Baba so based?
Baba is like an 18x18 sprite with less than 30 total frames of animation, most of which are the same thing redrawn so it wobbles. Rain World is full of complex designs, since it's animated procedurally.
I don't think ease of animation is necessarily the reason, more like ease of visual recognition. What these games have in common is lots of color and clutter and the camera is zoomed out to frame the background rather than the character.

I wish I could get into this game but I just cant, these fucking chickens with scissors for faces keep fucking me in the ass and even if I get super lucky and can basically run to the right at full speed without ever stopping or slowing down due to RNG of scissor chicken placement the rain still starts before I can get to the next checkpoint.

I figured out that, problem is I can't hide. Did you miss the part about even if I get lucky and sprint to the end, its raining by the time I get to the screen with the small cave with bugs you can eat in it, zero chance I can get to the next shelter.

cycle length varies death to death. regardless, as long as you're moving whenever you don't hear scissors and don't get too unlucky you should work out fine. it's never treated me too badly.
