This game can be really slow paced since damage is extremely high and neutral is a huge factor so every move counts. That said if you're not a fan of huge combos then you'll feel right at home.

Suija and Enja should have never turned into separate characters to begin with; they debuted as transformations for Sogetsu and Kazuki, they should go back to being as such, best of both worlds.

Traditional fighting game inputs. Beyond that, the one thing you need to understand about SamSho is that your buttons are more important than your special moves. You'll have fireballs, DP's, etc. but the reality is that those things do wayyy less damage than a stringle strike from your heavy slash. It's weird and takes a ton of getting used to, but play SamSho II or V Special and you'll see what I mean. This game is about landing single, solid hits versus landing combos.

I was out of turn to say "all" their games, but many of them suffer from absurd levels of over lap, like the KoF games existing individually alongside the Orochi saga compilation. I doubt it otherwise they would have made even more Iroha sims for mobiles back them, push her into Samurai Shodown Edge of Destiny to ensure she remained in people's minds. Iroha was popular not by much compared to many other household characters within SNK's catalog.

The game is not good, but phenomenal. The combos are so beautiful, and flow so well. Is the best parts of KOF XI combined with everything they got right on the awful first few years of SNK Playmore. It have their best spritework prior to XII as well. But really, the game is deep, and so hype thanks to the tag team system. Those Moriya super cancels intro dream cancels are a thing of beauty. Mastering Hotaru (that came with stances!) and Lee is so damn fulfilling, specially Lee that is really fucking scary with that godly mobility.

Such an underrated gem. Many people never learned it because finding how to actually play was so hard. People don't even know what tag attacks are ffs, and when they accidentally do it they wonder "why is doing so little damage?" So sad.

It's a reboot. That said, keep in mind that SamSho 2 is the most popular version of SamSho that exists in Japan. It's only here in the West that SSVS is more popular. Wouldn't be surprised if the development team is working on this with the SS2 framework in mind.
