I liked them. 1 and 4 are great. 2 and 3 are flawed. Calling them trash is a bit harsh. The last minute rewrites really hurt 2.
Changing Luke vs Kenny to Jane vs Kenny literally a month before 5 released was a mistake. Jane made more sense tonally but all the build up and narrative was for Luke not Jane vs Kenny. Luke's death was such a waste and really lame.

However I don't regret my time with these games.

Jane did make more sense. Luke was not aggressive and would have felt off making him hide AJ and intentionally fight Kenny. At the end of the day Luke and Kenny both focused on family and friends where as Jane was survival focused. It made sense for Jane to clash with Kenny she abandoned her family and wanted you to abandon Sarah. Luke nor Kenny would do that. Problem is they made the switch to late. So it narratively didn't feel right when before 5 the focus was Kenny v Luke. Right decision but too late in dev to do it proper.

Also, there's no fucking way Clem should've survived at all. It makes no sense no matter which way you put it since her eyes and skin were already discolored and the infection should've set in by now. Minnie axing her leg and her getting to the barn were also hours apart, the bite, and somehow AJ being able to carry Clem's (probably unconscious) body all the way to the school.
