Has anyone here played the Unreal Fortress Evolution mod? Was it good? Team Fortress in UT sounds like a great idea.

Because it was a really fun game on consoles(cheaters and peer to peer killed pc). Every gun was playable, the killstreaks were over the top and interactive. The maps were intricate in the amount of possible divergent paths.
Crazy shit like knife commando or akimbo glock 18's was playable. Shotguns were finally not shit, perks had actual choice unlike in mw.

Sure the noobtube one man army was annying, but it was overshadowed by all the good stuff.

I did. UT bots were a big contributor to why I still enjoy playing bot skirmishes in more recent games.

It was worse game than 2004, but there's still this something that keeps me coming back ..

bombing run is the best game mode in any multiplayer game ever.

fucking this game was doing last man standing before all the battle royale shit. So much creativity and variety and just sheer content in this game. You could go fuck around in huge multi-person vehicles with a nuke laser, flip over to attack/defense based assault which had the sickest maps like convoy, fucking invasion RPG servers. There was so much to do and I think this game alone is why Im so disappointed with everything these days because this was just the ultimate fucking game. And on top of it all, an obscene amount of player made maps, weapons, mutators, total conversion mods. Fuck. I miss when gaming was like that. Everything went to shit right after, this was was gamings last hurrah to me.

Back in the day mappers were actual artists and paid attention to the harmony of what they created.
Here you got the Orange block of the door on the right contrasting with the multiple blue lights on the picture. Simple color theory yet very effective in producing eye pleasing pictures. Much better than the brown shit that followed the Gears of Wars era.

I love the architecture in arena shooter maps. That visual clarity, the use of vertical space, it's so inviting to look at.

The new Quake is alright but I don't think any of the modes outside of Duel are fun to play. Maps too small, too impersonal (you play one match and then you're out to queue for a new one), far too many people crammed into them, etc.

Flak Cannon was the true meme gun. Got worse with every release.

Same with the redeemer Quake benefited from far more balanced and fun weapons, unlike UT where half the guns suck.

This game showed me that Demos do work, back in 2003 I played the demo that had Torlan Onslaught map, man I played that shit with 31 other people 24/7. Then the game released and the rest of the maps weren't as good as that one.
