Why can't Melee and Ultimate co-exist? Why does the community want one of them to "Die"?

Because humans are tribalistic retards that are hard wired to hate anyone different than them.

I like both, but Ultimate is better

Because competitive players won't play 2 smash games at the same time and want their favourite to have a bigger playerbase/lifespan than the other

I don't play shit games, can someone explain me the difference between the two?

Why would I want Melee to die? It’s a great containment for the tryhards and the autists. If Melee died, then they’d just flock to Ultimate and shit up everyone else’s good time.

One is rushed, the other is not

Neither is shit, Melee is autistically "deep" and only has one good character.

Melee is party game that became competitive fighting game through glitches and lack of polish, Ultimate is party game working as intended.

Both are competitive fighting games, Melee is just autist-tier and Ultimate has more content.

That sounds like the kind of question a child would ask. Does it really matter even?

If they're being anal and using Luigi's Game and Watch appearance in Mario Bros as his technical first ever appearance, why isn't Roy being done with his Melee model? That WAS his first appearance after all.

One is fun and one is for autistic man children who want to reduce their hands to stumps.

Melee was never good, even 64 had better combos

Aren't non-Melee focused tournament hosts wishing it's death pretty much just because hauling around and setting up CRT TV:s for just one game is a pain in the ass?

Ultimate has 2 buffer systems, Melee has none
Ledge mechanics are differents, leading to different edgeguarding approaches (edgeguarding means keeping your opponent off stage when they are to force them to loose a stock)
You can't move as freely between platforms in Ultimate compared to Melee (you can't waveland (slide while landing by using the air dodge input) off platforms and shield-drop (go through a platform while shielding)), it's not better or worse it just means that platforms are a worse place to be in by design.
Knockback works in a different way in those games, changing the way you can combo.
You might (not 100% sure) get more shieldstun in Melee, making shield pressure more viable in Melee than Ultimate.
Perfect shielding (shield with little to no drawbacks) is done at a different time (at the moment the attack hits you need to press sield in melee, in ultimate you need to release)
And a lot of other things

One isn't really better than the other, it's just 2 different ways to make a good smash games.

Both are fundamentally similar. The main difference between Melee & Ultimate include the carrying of your momentum when jumping after a dash, enabling more characters to lunge forward with aerial approaches, and the existence of techniques like Wavedashing & A less commital version of Dash Dancing allows for more microspacing. At the same time, there's a bit more histun, no 1 second timer to regrab an opponent, and as a whole, worse disadvantageous states through the likes of Ledgehogging ( Grabbing the ledge to prevent your opponent from grabbing it, which was removed in Smash 4 ) or the airdodges not really being that useful to get out of Disadvantage. Crouch Cancelling is also a thing, being able to reduce the knockback of an attack by 2/3rd, rendering a lot of moves unsafe on hit, and those with good DownSmashes are prime canditates to use this mechanic for a more defensive playstyle.
To each their own at the end of it. Ultimate has greater stage variety, a cast varied in playstyles with some not really seen in Melee, and is more convenient to get started with.

Neither can live while the other survives.

Because Meleefags are some of the most fucking annoying people to walk the Earth?

it would put roy in a bad shade and gamecubebabs wouldn't like that

Now that I think of it, how many 3D characters does Smash have?

One is old (and therefore, good) and the other is new (and therefore, bad)

About 20 at most. Depends of your stance on the Starfox characters & Falcon, since the Mode 7 & Super FX were like a false illusion of 3D, and the early outings of 3D respectively.

Sunken cost fallacy.

>shit games

Who's the artist?

Found it here

It's still a work in progress

Didn't Falcon only started physically appearing in the 3D games?

On his twitter he made Sonic his Genesis Sonic 1 sprite instead of a rear view mirror decoration too, so I'm going to assume he's basing them on their first appearance within their acknowledged designated franchise rather than first appearance in all of existence. I make autistic Smash stuff too and get this sort of question all the time, and that's just how I operate at least. Roy doesn't represent Super Smash Bros., he represents Fire Emblem, it's what his trophies and other collectibles have always stated, so that's simply how it is.

Smashfags are autistic, that's why

His first design comes from the comic styled manuals that were in the Snes F-Zero game. That aside, yeah, he was visible in a game with X at first.

I get that, but with that logic Luigi shouldn't be Game and Watch style.

G&W was first.

I mean, it's still a Mario Bros. game. And Mario's had multiple tie ins with the Game & Watch name going both ways so it doesn't even feel weird to associate them together like they do with Donkey Kong (which Mario's sprite is based off of.)

Why can't Democrats and Republicans co-exist? Why does the political tide want one of them to "Die"?

This

From your description, Melee is better.

I don't really care much about SSBU in the competitive scene, but I want to see Melee crash and burn so people will realize it was never a good competitive game.
