Vilifying the original target audience to try to appeal to a wider crowd with a product that already has its reputation in the gutter as pedophile trash will surely get them to buy it. Now their original audience won’t buy it and the new people they’re trying to draw in still won’t give it a try because of the negative atmosphere around it brought up from the original audience feeling abandoned. It was a mistake from the get-go. It may seem smart to try to rework something already established as it’ll take less effort than just starting anew, but you’ve a whole previous demographic already that surely won’t stay silent regarding these things.
But that’s not what’s going on, it’s the big suits forcing their hands in regardless of the developers’ image to change their public opinion on a whole despite the losses it may ensue right now for a better future.
