I was sort of hyped when it was due to release but didn't have a PS4 then. Now I do I remember that while P3 and P4 were fun, I've never managed to actually finish them, because I found the days dragged on so much that even if I liked the characters it just stopped being fun less than half way. It felt like there wasn't enough actual content. Is Persona 5 different?

last i checked, ff7 has been a multiplat since 1998. meanwhile, persona has stayed sony exclusive for 23 years outside of a couple spinoffs.

Persona 5 doesn’t drag like P3 and P4, those games have tons of filler and the plot doesn’t demand that you move faster and there’s a lot less to do in those games. P5 is completely different because the plot moves at a fast pace and there’s tons of shit to do to the point where you’ll wish you had more off days

Exactly what I said, things change. The gaming landscape is constantly shifting and developers will make differing choices compared to the past to either thrive or survive. For example, when P4 it made much more sense for the game to be a Playstation exclusive. Atlus was a much smaller company at the time and nobody bought JRPGs on the Xbox 360 or Wii. But now with P5 bringing Atlus to massive amounts of new success and growth, along with new fans to the JRPG genre. P5R has a much higher chance of being sent off to other platforms.

It's proven that there's a much more fan interest in the series outside of their usual Playstation playerbase now compared to a few years ago. So Atlus could totally pull the trigger and put P5R on more systems, only thing that does is give them more money. Is there a chance that P5R stays as a PS exclusive? Yes, and they'd still make good money with that choice. Will the series stay exclusive until the heat-death of the earth? You'd have to be a fucking moron to say yes. For all we know, Sony could issue a ban against all Atlus games appearing on their consoles tomorrow or vice versa.

Things change, nothing is guaranteed.

I think we've run into the same issue the Zelda series has where people prefer the first game in the series they played and will defend it to the death due to nostalgia.

Greatest hits is more of a life support system for games that are past their prime. Persona 5 has no signs of slowing as people will still pay top dollar for it. Plus they aren't going to reprint 5 when they can sell you 5 R for full price.
I don't give a shit if you prefer physical, just be good at it. Check some ebay prices to see what it goes for currently. Bear in mind it probably won't get a Greatest hits release but the prices of the original will probably drop once we confirm what P5R truly is.

But point is, the ps hits are always a guaranteed $20.

I didn't like P5. There were problems with the plot, I didn't like any of the characters, and the issues brought up were just haphazardly ignored after the first dungeon. I can tell there were huge rewrites made by the department, both in the initial conceptual stage and later development when the Corps made it something marketable, and it shows. Take for instance Kamoshida:

>Then he arbitrarily decides to fuck you over by expulsion, and then you get to hear about his dirty as shit crimes later on.
>The game really makes you hate this guy in the beginning, and by the end you want to rip him to shreds.

I keep going back to Thief and comparing the Witch and Karras to the Phantom Thieves. The former literally damned innocent people to what's essentially hell, after skinning a girl alive. Karras implants his victims with mechanical implants and they become his automaton servants. It's pretty bad when I think of those two whenever the Phantom Thieves succeed.

Expansion mostly, not entirely new games. Persona 4 Golden added a new character, new social links(the people you spend time with to increase your power), and some quality of life changes. Persona 3 Portable is a little different though in that it also added the choice of playing through the game as a female protagonist. You could romance the male characters and the story had slight differences.

People suspect that's what going to happen with 5 but we don't know for sure. Suffice to say though that people are pretty confident the new version will be a straight upgrade decreasing the price of the original inferior version.

The game kind of assumes a lot of the good will in people. The point of the change of heart is to remove the object of their desire, thus allowing the better part of their mind to recognize the twisted nature of their actions. It's forcefully idealistic and questionable in its methodology sure, but that's kind of the point behind the demonic/edgy imagery of P5 and how it adapts the notion of Phantom Thieves which are known in Japanese media as being borderline anti-heroic figures than the average goody-good hero.

But that aspect fails to give fulfilling resolutions. By the end of the Lust Palace, I just wanted to go Agent-47 on Kamoshida's ass, or get the bastard thrown in prison. The game needed to add some redeemable aspects to Kamoshida if they wanted to make the heart change impactful.
