those points aside, i'm excited for this game. i'm a longtime fire emblem fan who didn't play any of the 3ds fire emblem games (i couldn't be arsed to buy a 3ds), so i'm looking forward to playing this on my switch. also, as a teacher in real life, i think the avatar gimmick is pretty neat.

That horrible boxart that should've failed in the selection process, if you guys aren't into graphic design you ideally have 9 prototypes for a boxart and you go through a peer review selection process before you get to the final one. Within a company as big as Nintendo, marketing would be the one to have final say. And the marketing guys were like "yeah, let's pick the boxart that doesn't blend well with the avatars and the central theme of the game (the ANIME HIGH SCHOOL) and put the yellow golden queer upside down. And make sure their weapons don't align, fucking perfect, print it now".

Then you start thinking about how Koei-Tecmo is behind half the game's development with the leading theory being rapid asset creation since Nintendo also outsourced Smash Bros Ultimate to Namco to co-develop as well as getting Monolith employees to co-develop Breath of the Wild. Why the fuck can't Nintendo get an A team to co-develop like Breath of the Wild and Smash Ultimate had good 3rd parties helping along? Why the fuck would they pick Koei Tecmo and their garbage Dynasty Warrios game engine for Fire Emblem Three Houses, their flagship 2019 Switch hardcore title.

Why the fuck would they hire Kurahana Chinatsu, a fucking otome artist for their next Fire Emblem game and shit completely over the character designs with dead-on lifeless eyes and zero expressions during actual combat? It's bizarre how ugly the game looks in all its forms: 2D art is hideous, 3D stills are copypasted HD models and very distracting when the formation cannon fodder lines up with the lead unit, 3D animation has units materializing in combat out of thin air and an unimpressive physics engine that doesn't have proper unit collision that are in the doorstep's of T-posing whenever they get knocked out in-combat. There is ZERO merit to this game's presentation, I find nothing compelling about the tired Japanese anime high school setting trope, I am fucking sick of the soulless eyes everyone has. Cancel it.

This is indistinguishable from every fucking high school anime out there. That stupid cap she has, this game is the farthest it's ever been from a Fire Emblem atmosphere and world building. I can't take anything seriously with MOE THANK YOU SENPAI garbage character design and SUGOI shit from every high school anime. How do the Japanese not get sick of this fucking garbage pandering 'member berries about their high school life? It's awful.

This turbo weeb anime game has to be made by the same group of people who did CODENAME STEAM and SMT#FE.
