I can't wrap my head around the combat. I'm waiting for it to click. But it doesn't.

It will do, I went from dying literally 50 times to the 7 spears guy to killing most bosses within 2-3 tries.

Best game of the year so far.

Better than any Souls game, slightly worse than BB.

nah that will be dmc5

>Limited enemies with bad AI
>Shit level design and visual variety

No

>Limited enemies with bad AI
untrue

8/10 solid game

My personal verdict:
9/10, very impressive world with interesting zones, enemies, and bosses. Game design is top-notch; the way minibosses and non-linearity are handled is novel and appealing, combat is nuanced enough for there to never be one winning strategy for all fights. It's biggest flaws are slim build options and general lack of replayability, but it's got more than enough content to feel satisfying on a single playthrough.
Yea Forums's take though? CLANG CLANG CLANG WEABOO RUNNAN SIMULATOR

it's pretty damn good
must play for any vidya fan

It's fine. It just made me wish From made a pure stealth game instead though.

>and non-linearity are handled is novel and appealing
lul what? do you play games outside of fromshit fromsheep?

You have unlimited 'stamina'.
Enemies have lots of tracking--you're meant to block and parry more than dodge.
If you need to dodge, jump in most cases or sprint instead.

The core difference from other Souls-games is this:
If you're neutral with an enemy, you should always press advantage with an attack and punish whatever you bait out.

good but not great, not much freedom to approach bosses how you want.

Goty so far
Sekiro > BB = DS3 > DS1 > ds2

This. I think bloodborne is better but sekiro is still a masterpiece

Extremely tedious and boring fighting system. Literally no variety at all. Even souls games with r1\dodge spam delivered much more variety and options.

Absolutely, but most games don't allow you to skip named, unique bosses. In fact, most games frame bosses and even minibosses as unskippable events, whereas Sekiro plants them organically in its world. You can run away, find better advantage, lure to fight in a different area, etc. I don't feel like I have to fight every Sekiro miniboss when I come across them, but the Prayer Bead reward is great.

As far as the nonlinearity goes, it's an open world game that opens up wide right before the first real skillcheck boss, then gives further paths on all of its routes after that skillcheck boss. That's not something that's done often in any game. Only game that comes to mind that's similar is Breath of the Wild.

Nioh >>> this trash

Attached: nioh-okatsu-japanese-clothes-cuteness.jpg (3840x2160, 748K)

Second only to Bloodborne.

Play the game on DMD. Turn your camera away from them. Apart from the Judecca and Fury, They all can't handle the camera aggression system. They're too slow to go into your view and slow to attack. It also doesn't help that 9-10 of the common enemy cast are melee enemies that can't touch you in the air. The ranged ones even need to be in the view of your camera to even start attacking. Enigmas from DMC3 are better enemies than these. It doesn't help that the areas are huge as fuck too.

It's hilarious, because Nioh has much more of an involved plot and character build system, which makes its NG+ and replayability a large draw of my playtime. Sekiro, on the other hand, has superior combat, setting, enemy variety, etc.

well yeah sure, if you're comparing it to the least creative genre in the industry, this game feels fresh.

>Spot the weeabo.

I still can't believe how good the Nioh models turned out.

this guy is either a walking personifies Yea Forums meme or is trolling.

What other game makes it not feel fresh?

Actual truth right there.
Actual retard.

Great mini/bosses
Bad stealth

/thread

I think he means in terms of how the game world opens up from its initial experience.

>has superior combat
Nah

no multiplayer, no buy.
it'll be $20 in a couple months because of it, too.

>Bad Exploration
People shit on the exploration in Sekiro like "Oh man all you find are fucking candy and useless shit" when exploration is how I've found most the NPCs, prosthetic weapons, and even minibosses I wouldn't have come across if I wasn't exploring.

>it'll be $20 in a couple months because of it, too.
>Activision game
>ever going on sale

Best action games
Sekiro > god hand > ninja gaiden > nioh > BB > DMC > MGR:R

I've dumped 500 hours into Nioh across multiple playthroughs. It's got a fun system, but Living Weapon trivializes everything.

>starting level introduces core mechanics
that is literally almost every open world game ever made, it's just that nips cheese is out for plebs to think it's something special.

8.5/10

Why do people keep on calling him Sekiro? All the characters always call him Okami and the only one to mention this is Tengu man which is also the guy that named him on a whim. The name seems more like a moniker to me.

needs more enemy variety

Why don't you like Revengeance, user?

>superior combat
Fucking kek. Yeah I guess retarded click to death gameplay is more entertaining than stances and combos with options.

8/10.
It's fine but I don't see myself being interested in DLC or a sequel.
Soundtrack was a let down.
I think the stealth hurts the game more than helps it
Feels like a new Ninja Gaiden game when it clicks
Only a few standout areas

Better than Dark Souls 2 and 3 but worse than the rest

Don't reply to me or my posts with your garbage game ever again, Nioh fag.

Low poly is so based, how does it look so good

*talking to

Doesn't Sekiro mean one armed wolf? It's not technically wrong then.

black ops 4 has been $30 multiple times, and it came out 5 months ago.

That one failed to meet expectations of earning more than 500 million dollars.

It's a pretty good game that's dragged down a lot by it's shitty fan base

The stealth aspects are the worst part of this game by far, and although I love the setting I find the environments boring as fuck.

Combat is fun but I hate any bosses which require you to do cheesy shit to turn it into a fair fight, it just feels fucking moronic that abusing the AI is what you need to do to actually get somewhere.

Stances and combo options are neat stuff, but you can't use Stances or Combos in living weapon. The easy availability of shit like Living Weapon, Sloth Talisman, Steel/Carnage Buffing, Protection Talisman, and Quick-Change scroll renders the stakes of any encounter before Way of the Demon null. Even just simple mechanic abuse like the Confuse/Debilitate status absolutely makes the game a cakewalk. It's fun to smash the shit out of enemies, but I never felt like I was legitimately out-skilling anything in Nioh for a large amount of the time that I've played, especially in co-op.
I used to hate them until I realized Ripper Mode makes them a joke

I will say, nothing in Nioh comes close to even the basic encounter with a samurai in Sekiro where you go CLANG CLANG PARRY KILL

GOTY

Honestly did not expect it to be this good at all.

Cope

9/10

Yeah it's not wrong but the prevalent name is always Okami in game and I'm seeing it here a lot recently so it irks me a bit. Also to add I think it literally means "half of something" and "wolf" in Kanji so it's not far fetched. It also means "crow" in kana so I don't know if that makes sense. So what is the difference between からす (karasu) and せきろ (sekiro)? Come on /djt/ I summon you.

I feel bad for people who aren't good enough to play it. It's terrific once you stop getting destroyed.

i go through this cycle of really enjoying it and being bored by it. it's weird

>nioh
>good combat
>activate a living weapon
>mash attack
>everything dies
Truly a masterpiece.

good game but zero replayability unlike other souls games

shouldve ditched shitty singleplayer only and no char creation

you don't know what that term even means.

Setting is fucking awful, enemy variety lacking. it's essentially a triple A Furi, just boss rush and most bosses can be easily cheesed.

Not a bad game, but not close to DS and BB.

Best PvE in From's catalogue.

THE GOTYAY

Looks like it's shit. Anyone who thinks Bloodborne is better than all the Souls games is an actual cuck.

9.5/10 but I'm only half way through

>Anyone who thinks Bloodborne is better than all the Souls games is an actual cuck.
ultimate retard

The problem is when you finally understand the combat mechanics you are totally burned out by the game.

It's a stealth and rhythm game. 6/10

no not really. also game has better combo than your shitty gay ninjas. Also you can easily abuse and stunlock everyone in seshit. While dmc5 funner than seshit

8/10 but the worst fromsfot game by a mile this game is straight hard every other soul had a balance here you cant increase your attack unless you beat a boss and the healt bar increase when upgraded is minimum when bosses can 2 shot you ,but ironically i think this is by far the best from soft game in the visual department i love the beauty and design of areas like mt kongou area, the mibu village, the depths , if they toned down bosses dmg and not having 56456 attack pattern like SSIshin it would have been an9.5 for but this game is hard to the point of not being fun

I agree with the game being too easy so I asked for the team to make the game harder in the next update!

as someone who played nioh just before this game i completely agree nioh story was weaboo garbage but beats sekiro in every other aspect

8 days after release "now that OP is still the hugest faggot ever"

>DMC5
>braindead enemies and shitty bosses
>look at my crazy combos while enemy almost cant move
top anime meme game for retards

>it's bad because I can't grind or summon when I get stuck

Soulsbabbies everyone.

Would have been a 10/10 if they let you equip 4 or maybe even all combat arts at the same time.
Having to enter the pause menu mid combat is the biggest boner killer ever.

>seshit
>can easily abuse stunlocks like in any soulshit game
>shitty hitboxes
>from losers cannot into programing as usual
The tryna hard to appeal to western soulfanatics

It felt like the game got ten times better the moment I beat Genichiro and left Ashina.
It's like "okay you get to adventure off into all the cool and exotic locations now".

It's good with some issues that don't really effect the game much
>wish there was more supernatural shit
>Senpou temple is the best area in the game aside from its boss and every other area pales in comparison
>most ninja tools are trash. They're either meh or necessary for one or 2 small encounters in the entire game
>Demon is just a shitty BB boss
I hope we get good DLC

>shitty hitboxes
no you are just fucking retarded

It gets a 8.5/10, although the initial playthrough was well over 30 hours, I completed the game on NG+ in about 14 hours. It's kinda short, but if it gets a DLC, it'll be on par with Bloodborne.

Attached: Sekiro-.jpg (1600x2513, 905K)

nice lies. Just let me search for that webm

Extremely competently made action game that despite superficial similarities plays VERY differently to From's previous melee action lineup. Beautiful and interconnected game world, interesting spin on feudal Japan setting and very tight, unforgiving but fair combat. Really solid game overall, I'd give it so far 9/10.

Attached: 1552940198128.jpg (900x1200, 188K)

7/10, honestly.

You can go to senpou temple before genchi, you just can't do the monkey business thing

>that webm
any webm posted here form start is proof that Yea Forums is full of braindead casuals
dont reply to me retard fuck off

Games really good. Only major complaints

>level design is not good, just the same japanese buildings every level with very minor variation
>fight boss twice for some reason
>i'd prefer more customization (i like rpg elements in my vidya sue me)
>more main weapons
>stealth is hit or miss, cheesing minibosses with it doesn't seem like a good idea
>learning curve is too high in the beginning (hurrr git gud)
>grappling hook is fun but also dumb since you can't traverse up certain ways which you should be able to since all the grapple points are pre-determined

Thinking about trading in KH3 and AC Odyssey for it.
AC Odssey isn't really doing anything for me but I know KH3 is potentially getting stuff sooner or later, what do you guys think?

All exploration does is give you useless shit, useless prosthetics and recycled minibosses.
>I wonder where this small pool of water will lead
>it's another headless.

best game this year by far

Yeah I got to Mt Kongo but then I thought that I better turn back because I knew the main story progression would be in the castle where Kuro was being held.

>Also you can easily abuse and stunlock everyone in seshit.
the enemies in dmc5 dont even attack you, you just spam your "epic" combos on some puppets

Actually a classic that will be remembered as such as time goes by. All the 7/10 or 8/10 anons will vanish soon enough.

not an argument

play the game and you will see
if you fucked up you can only blame yourself

>>fight boss twice for some reason
Why is this an issue?

Despite it being GOTY it's only about a 7.5/10.

Attached: 1550778335080.png (663x396, 266K)

A pretty good game.
The difficulty is extremely overexaggerated by casuals and shitters, but that always happens with these kinds of games.

This doesn't make the combat good. Sekiro's cool webms are 10000000% more interesting to watch and execute.

Attached: 1553782918788.webm (960x538, 2.95M)

Pretty great game, the final boss was great and it felt like fighting an old friend that you are finally seeing eye to eye. Mt. Kongou was beautiful, same goes for Fountainhead Palace (though the enemies are kinda whack)

The Dragons Homecoming ending is also implying a sequel for Sekiro 2 with a chinese setting. I'm already excited for a sequel.

Are you retarded en Japanese?
First of all “crow” is usually written is katakana as “カラス” not in hiragana like a filthy subhuman. Second, crow Kanji is “鴉“ but again, almost everyone writes it in katakana instead.

And last thing Sekiro in Japanese is written 隻狼 which means 隻/せき: one part or one arm and 狼/おおかみ: Wolf.

So as the other user said, Sekiro is the one armed wolf.

Big disappointment. Lacks variety in both enemies and environments. Too many recycled minibosses and bosses. Too many minibosses where you have to deal with their trash mobs first.
I think the simon says combat turned out too easy and they jacked up the damage values on all enemies to compensate. The game is hard but only because each small mistake is punished harshly.
Because of the lack of any customization or multiplayer there's no reason to ever replay this game.
Better than DS2, overall, mostly because of Sekiro's boss design and interconnected world. Worse than every other souls game.

I hate the Dark Souls games and loved this one, very good game

I find the lack of variety boring. All the time with the same weapon even with the combos is just boring imo. The prosthetic arm is useless in most of the cases and it has 0 replayability.

I finished the game and now I'm starting another run on BB with a new build.

>don't remind me how shitty my game is please
Get aids, cucк. Nioh is vastly superior

holy shit that bitch is ugly and cringeworthy

Attached: 1553231296127.jpg (539x960, 140K)

Just beat the final boss. I started off not liking it, but around the mid game I started to really enjoy myself. Changing the quick items to triangle also helped; I have no fucking clue why they thought healing with up on the d-pad was a good idea.

Biggest issues I had were camera related, sometimes it would completely fuck up in the middle of boss fights. Some of the hitboxes are also really fucked up. I get that they wanted to emphasize using specific counters, but getting magnet grabbed or hit by attacks that are nowhere near me is pretty frustrating.

I think the game is good but I find the combat very rigid and shallow, that really turns me off it. I got as far as the headless monkey, the game feels very samey to me.
The setting is a bit boring but I really like the aesthetics with the streams of blood and shit, reminds me of Ninja Scroll. I really wanna like this game and beat it but I'm forcing myself at this point.

Attached: 1474599449487.gif (300x300, 1.96M)

just hold/mash block you retard

Attached: 1551750272635.png (346x182, 145K)

I enjoyed it. I liked the eastern mythology and history shit. The original appeal of souls and bloodborne was the japanovision look at western history/mythology so it distilled it into something almost allegorical. This feels different, like it's more basic but the themes are foreign so I am getting a bit more out of it. It's wider but shallow, where as souls/bloodborne felt unintentionally deep.

>streams of blood
Where were the streams of blood?

Yes I'm retarded in Japanese so thanks for the clarification.

You can explore part of the other areas before Genichiro. You just can't complete them before progressing the story.

Fucking solid 9/10 for me once combat clicked like 12 hours into the game. Every boss was enjoyable, cant think of really any enemies I truly hate or thought are bullshit. The big main fights were incredible, final boss was amazing.

Its biggest weakness is the actual Japanese aesthetics. So much looks the same vs souls/borne aesthetics which suck you in far more, and make it easier to explore since areas tend to look very different, which makes you realize you are somewhere new. Times in Sekiro it really all felt the same except in some areas. I wish it had more strange alienish shit like in fountainhead, I was kinda thinking a BB type twist was gonna happen.

If this game had enviroments of Soulsbourne it would be a 10/10.

I still dont really get the story or lore

Attached: 20190329173104_1.jpg (1920x1080, 341K)

You can go literally everywhere except monkey funhouse and Fountainhead before fighting him.

Seems like all the effort went into building the combat system and less about the world and environments because they were shit.

>run
>swing swing
>QTE kill
>rinse and repeat
WOOOW, SO INTERESTING!!!

Fatal blows user, what do you mean?

Except world and environments are miles better than generic western fantasy shit from Souls
>dude look generic castles and cathedrals so awesome!! XD

a good but not fun to play game, that is unless you love to parry. The fanbase is pure cancer.

for you maybe

The sad thing is Yea Forums has become so shit I can't tell if this is bait or if you're genuinely a retarded 11 year old.

>I truly hate or thought are bullshit.
I'd be inclined to agree with you were it not for the Chained Ogre and the utterly broken hitbox on his lunging grab. Seriously it's just that one attack, dunno how the fuck it slipped though.

Attached: 1551948687762.jpg (750x573, 44K)

I think he thought you literally meant streams of blood.
As in actual rivers of flowing blood.

Both of you have shit taste. From's take on level design based on both japanese and medieval european architecture is great.

Attached: DxATrklXgAUjr7x.jpg (600x900, 82K)

Actually yeah, now that you mention it, that lunging grab is the only thing I got really mad at. Even yesterday in NG+ fighting him again it was the only thing he could get me with, and its a 1 shot kill on ng+
